Flavor/taste profiles are important. What someone else enjoys may not be what you like to drink. Good place to begin and keep a journal so you can dial into your favorites and leave the rest behind for others.
Never thought anything would beat Stagg until I had the Frey Ranch. Frey Ranch wins hands down and there are some great whiskeys there, I have everyone of them.
I absolutely love the taste of bourbon & whiskey in general as well as tequila & mezcal, but unfortunately I hate the effects of alcohol (that aren’t just the good buzz feeling) so much that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to accomplish what you’re saying😂I Just can’t possibly bring myself to drink enough to be able to be the kind of customer that buys bottles weekly at those kind of local stores for them to like me enough to give me allocated bottles at retail price. Unless I get super lucky & find some store who does it first come first serve style & just puts stuff like stagg on the shelf, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get something like that at retail price. Any other advice you’d have for someone like me who doesn’t have the stomach & alcohol tolerance for booze but whos extremely interested in trying allocated stuff? & Obviously I know I’d need to drink higher proof bourbon for a long time to get used to it before I could even be able to stand to drink Stagg let alone appreciate it Lmao, but still I just wanna know what’s the most realistic route I could take to getting allocated bottles because I’d love & would be super grateful to get to try even just something like a limited release Barton 1792 or a buffalo trace barrel pick which I think would be easier to get ahold of right? Or am I wrong for thinking that?
Your best best bet is getting one of the bottles from the 1792 line up. There pretty readily available and they’re great sippers.. i especially recommend their FP but all of them are enjoyable. I would recommend trying to check out a few nicer bars that carry allocated spirits. This way you get to experience the allocated spirits while not having to commit to buying an entire bottle. Especially there’s some bottles out there that are hyped up and then you buy them and are disappointed…. And now your stuck with an expensive bottle of hard to drink juice
@@howiemandel5787you don’t have to be the one who’s drinking. Keep that in mind. Buy for your friends and family too. The main point being. Spend a lot regardless who it’s for so you build rapport with the store owner. Or to build up rewards for raffles etc for stores that handle allocated products differently.
@@gavinmcmanus9449 this is good but I worry about bars refilling their allocated spirits with good but not what you’re supposed to be getting. I guess as long as the bar is pretty reputable, you should be fine or bring a friend who knows their stuff.
Waiting on my bottle of Frey Ranch single barrel ordered from CA! Really enjoy the content. I have my bourbon arranged in a lazy-Susan on top of the fridge 👍🏻
Just tried the OF barrel proof today at Total Wines and absolutely loved it... for under 90, you think its worth picking up a bottle or two? Is it usually readily available
I think it might be better for you all to do 100% blinds. With the known bottles, you are looking to determine what is what versus what you all actually prefer.
@@BrewzleLiveClips I was only saying, have someone pour the blinds, rank them and then reveal the bottles and then maybe do I think A is a certain bottle. Just a suggestion. Love the channel and keep up the great content.
I was so bummed to learn that so many of these popular brands are just unavailable in Maine. Even EHT just goes through the state lottery and I assume there’s not even that many as i haven’t been able to sign up in the 3 years I’ve been trying to
Just rewatched this episode and noticed that you mentioned that 18 years was too old for a whiskey. I disagree, I think you might have meant 18 years is too old for a bourbon. I’ve had some amazing 18 year old Scotch and Japanese whiskey. Haven’t tried an 18 year old bourbon as of yet.
5 days ago and under $100? Not even close, Stagg at $300, EHT SB $130, Weller Antique 107 (cannot even find it, offered to me at $250 a month ago), OF and Frey? No clue!
Actually it’s good you didn’t get the 107 right you are very biased with that bourbon. I believe the higher proofs put a wrench in the works. Great job still on picking out the majority of these. And tasting 5 at a time is a bit much I’d have to take a nap after something like this.
I got OF SBBP at BevMo for $82. Got EH Taylor Small Batch at Totalwine last week for $45. Just have to keep an eye out. I actually saw both pop up online and then went in. I check like 2x a week to see if they got the tougher to find stuff
Pot still is the original method of distilling, everything else are inventions centuries later . I love pot still, how can you not like the original method and the most proven method .
Next time you guys should not even know what the bottles the community chose are & have will or whatever his name is look at the list & do the pours when y’all aren’t even in the room so that way it can be a true blind
Ohio 😂 we had a weekend with just about every store getting eh Taylor at 70. They sold quick but they were available. Also KY and IN get them all the time and I've never paid over 110 for them. Even found some at $85 in Corbin kentucky the liquor mart great store great prices and super nice staff
Just bought EH Taylor SB at totalwine for $45- they had 10+ bottles in shelf. I’m in CA. I see it like twice a year and it’ll be there for a couple days
@@Spacecadet2I've managed to get 2 of 3, 107 and the EHT. Never seen a Stagg or Frey Ranch here. Only saw one bottle of OFSB and it was like 150 so I passed. It's very difficult for me to spend over a bill on a bottle so inevitably I miss out on some great stuff. You can't buy em all 🤷♂️

Of the other 3, Old Forester wins for me
Jill is great!!!…i love old forester single barrel…i have a 131 proof store pick

Weller 107 was amazing to me at first, but after my second bottle it’s just ok. Wheated bourbons aren’t really at the top of my list.
Never thought anything would beat Stagg until I had the Frey Ranch. Frey Ranch wins hands down and there are some great whiskeys there, I have everyone of them.
Old forester bourbon, Frey Ranch, 107,Stagg and EH.
All of all of those are over a hundred dollars where I live. Seattle booze prices suck
weller 107 is your number 1 for sure
jill picks frey or old forester
You want to spend under $100? Spend 1000s at the local store over the years and they will help you get it.

Nice to see Frey ranch is doing so well. Just grabbed a uncut for their black friday drop. Looking forward to it.
Daviess County whole line is worth a try - double wood is my favorite $40 at total wine.

So which batch is stagg 22a? Its 132.2 proof. It’s kind of an odd ball as best I can find.
I just picked up the Old Forester and have a boottle of EHT i guess I'll have to blind just thise two lol. Stagg, Weller in my area doesn't exist.

Absolutely

Seems like antique 107 always fall shy i think the 12 should be there maybe against taylor single barrel and e.rare or blanton
I just got my first Frey though Frootbat , only because I heard you talking about them. Plus I told them that you were talking them up !!
btw: i live near Pa./Del border so there no way i'd ever see on the shelf round here !
Local msrket had eagle rare at 29.99.
Bought 4 bottles, next day.the whole end display was gone
So what was the Store Pick? The uncut version?

I get the 107 for $59 just about every Saturday
That’s not a MSRP price
online buying whisky what would you recomend.,
Paid $89 for Stagg last week
Paid 62 for a 127.8 proof 2 weeks ago
Try Bibb and Tucker.
Watched the live. This is nice to watch again. Thanks guys and go frey ranch

I can’t find 1792 single barrel anywhere.
That is Stagg 18 (hence the don’t call me jr.) I’m shocked you don’t know that TJ. You’re the bourbon aficionado!
Unfortunately, OF and Frey are the only two I can find under $100
300 for stagg where im at in ky
Where can I get any of these under $100 in CA? Stagg is $200+ on 2nd market around my area. lord..
Frey at total wine $81

Antique 107 you can't touch in my area for under $240.
EHT under $100? Not in my area even if you can find it. That includes on the shelves.

found eh taylor and blantons in tn for $66
