  • How to fix CRACKED Bumper LIKE A PRO!!! Cheap and Looks Great!
    ► Our Website: mechaniclifesty...
    We have purchased many cars in the past that had damaged bumpers. Almost Every car has some damage to the front bumper from hitting a curb or a parking barrier. We decided to show you how you can fix your bumper without buying a new one and getting it painted. IT BE $$$$ hundreds of Dollars cheaper the method that we used. We used Exoxy by Loctite, Fiberglass bondo, Regular Bondo, Sandpaper, and CARBON Fiber Vinyl Wrap!!! The bumper that we used for this video came out of a Mercedes W203 C Class C320 4matic.
    All the materials in the video are purchased by us! This is not a sponsored video!

    if you have a spark plug fouled, you can take a torch and heat up the oil fouled plug, and burn it off, must get red hot, when you see the oil smoke off, its clean. Put back in and it will fire like new. its good for 2 stroke motors that foul plugs often and you want to get the job done without going to the store.
    If you have a 6 volt motorbike, you can use 12 volt bulb,, the bike doesnt know what size bulb its lighting. most rectifiers will pass enough current to make it burn very bright and they wont burn out as often and easy to get.
    If you need to add water to your battery you can use rain water collected in buckets. rain water is distilled water by natural process. no need to buy any.
    If you need a condom in a pinch, a snicker bar wrapper will work one time. haha

    We've got a huge challenge.. something was dropped on top of my back bumper. It broke a very large piece off the top of the bumper. But, it's a single, solid piece. After watching your video, I'm hopeful that the bumper can be repaired! It will take alot of work, but I think it's possible! Thank you so much for sharing all the steps. It's worth a try :-)

    Super! I watched that all the way through, very useful. Cheap fix maybe, but not exactly fast. That would probably take me a week to complete. The thing that I'm unclear about is that with the epoxy, mesh, bondo, final filler, primer and paint you must have added a huge amount of thickness to the repair, but the final result still looks flush. I guess you have to grind the initial plastic down quite far to accommodate all that material. Thanks for the video.

    I found a crack on the back bumper of a 2019 kia sorento. It would be nice if I could just vinyl wrap it and not fix the crack LOL. Not sure if that is a good idea though. I could always do it the most ghetto way I can think and buy some "Mighty Putty" www.amazon.ca/Mighty-Putty-MP1000-3-Pack/dp/B0018Z0QUK/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=magic+puddy&qid=1588512872&sr=8-7

    you do things in a very different way than most other professionals would do. No wax paper for mixing the Bondo on, applying dry wall mesh instead of actual fiberglass, and finishing with "carbon fiber" sticky paper? But it does look good at the end, and unique.

      +crackbadger man you are so right about that. I grew up in Bulgaria and before the 2000's it was hard to find stuff so you either find a way to fix it or you are out of the game

    • @randy1ization
      @randy1ization 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      one time I took a cylinder head off of a small 72 cc honda motorbike engine, and someone had used a cereal box cardboard for the headgasket. it worked for a little while . In cuba its really common to use cardboard for gaskets. I buy the bulk gasket sheets of various materials, and make my own. Paper hole punches, make abt the perfect hole size for the bolts, or drilling the holes out work great too. many times you can make a better fitting gasket, than original, and no need to go to the store.
      I also saw someone block off a EGR valve with a budwieser can cut out. ha..
      you can weld mufflers with coathangers, you can free stuck motors with hot burnt motor oil, and free up stuck chains, lots of things can be fixed without spending much money. That is what makes it fun.

      crackbadger man awesome info :) where are you from?

    • @randy1ization
      @randy1ization 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      also when making gaskets you can take some cheap spray paint, and mist the face of the part, then "stamp" it quickly onto the sheet of gasket material then razor knife to cut it out.
      If gasket is common, make a few, so next time its already done, no need to make another stamping.

    drilling a hole at the end of the crack will reduce the chance of the crack continuing. Also if you do all this work on the inside of the bumper you will use less filler.

    Not sure how well that table top cover stuff on hold up long-term if you live in a crappy climate Like the rust belt. You can just as easily get the real pain in the rattle can and then shoot over and after with some clearcoat and it would work just as well and probably hold up better without peeling. Same goes for the laminate countertop cover whatever that stuff is you could clear coat over that It would seal it much better than just taking it down. Those areas on the car live in a hellish environment and there's always things pulling on it hitting it splashing it.

    So newbie/novice that I am; Is the reason that you didn't stop when you applied that paint but went on to put on that peel-off cover is because .... It wouldn't hold together? It would shake and crack again?

    • @WorldMechanics
      @WorldMechanics  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +steve2713 it is very strong without the carbon fiber wrap. You can just leave it paint it and it is as strong as the original bumper but we used a spray paint which is not exactly the same color as the bumper so we decided to use the carbon fiber wrap to give it more custom look

    Great video -- thanks! Suggestion -- when you are using acetone, wear gloves -- that stuff is not good for you when in contact with your skin.

    Such a great tutorial! I refer to it often as I'm in the process of repairing the damaged OEM lower aero lip spoiler on my 2005 Black Cherry Mica RX8 Shinka that was almost split in half in the middle by the previous over-zealous owner. These lower lips are very rare and almost impossible to find; I gave up hope until I came across your video. I'm at the stage of about to put on the Gold Bondo, then shape, primer and paint. Using drywall mesh for reinforcement for the epoxy - such a great idea! I've also ordered a Purple Chameleon carbon fiber wrap kit on eBay from RVinyl for the outers. It's coming along great and I'm excited to see how it comes out! Thanks so much!!

    Absolutely the best and easiest bumper repair for a mercedes. I had a small hairline crack on my rear bumper and used this method underneath and it looks great. Thanks.
