There's a very interesting story behind that thumbnail. Basically, the different nations tried to pick the tallest soldiers they could to one up each other. The Americans were sneaky and brought in a taller soldier, but the British were sneakier and gave theirs an even taller hat. Notice also how the British Indian soldier is ahead of the Germans, French and so on. That's because even an Englishman's dog is above a Continental (or so the thinking was at the time...)
I doubt the story as it sound like it was made after the facts. I mean, if the story we true, then the pith helmet we invented in Peking and so does the Sikh's turbans. Why not just wear the tall bearskin hat instead? Why didn't the Japanese stack two soldier under one coat? If anything, it point to the story being fake.

In the spanish version , at the minute 9:04 , the song says 'marfilina' not 'marfirina' , in reference of one of the top exportation proctucts of china in those days , the marfil. There's a very interesting story behind that thumbnail. Basically, the different nations tried to pick the tallest soldiers they could to one up each other. The Americans were sneaky and brought in a taller soldier, but the British were sneakier and gave theirs an even taller hat. Notice also how the British Indian soldier is ahead of the Germans, French and so on. That's because even an Englishman's dog is above a Continental (or so the thinking was at the time...)
