If you’re about to make your first quilt, please please watch this tutorial! It is by far the best! Thank you so much for making such a clear step by step tutorial on quilting! I was able to make my first one with ease and enjoy this process because of how clearly everything is explained

I continue to refer back to her videos when learning sewing techniques. When she even said about pre-washing fabrics being a personal preference, it’s like a huge weight was just lifted off of my shoulder. The way she explained it made so much sense

I want to thank you for your upbeat personality and clarity in teaching sewing. I had a brain injury after a lung transplant so I have had to relearn many many things again, and still, many things don’t stay in my brain. Please pat yourself on the back because anyone that can explain things to a person with a brain injury, and be as inviting as you are, deserves milk and cookies for life! True, there are times I want to smack the back of your head- in a loving way- because you make it look so easy and mine is always a little more wonky! But a lot of that is my brain dropping information and not only sew the wrong sides together once and have to rip it out, but sometimes I do it two or three times! We call it the new comedy act! Thank you for what you do! It makes a difference in this persons life.

I'm an old quilter, and I'm so glad you encouraged a new quilter to sew their binding on by hand! That was very refreshing. You did a great tutorial for a new quilter. They need to learn by watching the step by step process so they won't tend to skip very important steps in a rush to get their quilt finished. In quilting something to be proud of, it can take time. So many try and break a speed record to get them done. Each quilt is a journey, and you should enjoy each journey. ❤ Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

I am a new quilter (I have been quilting since 2021) and I totally recommend hand sewing your binding! It is so much easier and less overwhelming than sewing it with the machine.

I had an inexplicable urge to make a baby quilt for a lovely young woman who has waited for this baby for so long. As a result I've fallen down a magical rabbit hole, and there was your video. Your binding technique is brilliant, thank you so much. I'm on early stages learning and on my first sample block I tried your clever way to attach the ends of the binding, and as everyone who sews knows, when something works so well it feels amazing. xxx

You are professional, but also fun and light. I am 73 yr. And quilting for the first time, However I must have been sleeping when I decided to make a quilt the size of a double bed. I want to make one for my family in the USA Virgin Islands and I don’t to hot.
      What do you recommend?

@@tolvidoati Yea. That's a good question. I haven't tried making one without the batting in the middle....so you would have to see how that works, or maybe just do a thin layer of something else in place of the batting? The bed sheet idea was for the backing fabric, since they provide a nice large cut of fabric. But try it out and see what happens! - Dana

@@MADEEveryday For a summer quilt you can use a flannel sheet instead of batting. You still need to do all the quilting because until the quilt is quilted it is very fragile. It would just fall apart in a washer. Also you might want to shrink your binding to 2 inches because it is less bulky. Happy Quilting!

i started a quilt with this video as my tutorial/pattern back in August and I just got around to finishing it the week before christmas! video was open in the tab for months as I came back for every step... this tutorial is simply the best beginner tutorial I could have chosen :)

Congrats! I'm starting this soon and I'm so excited. I was wondering: do you have to use a different stitch length, foot etc in order to get the three layers through your machine? I'm a little worried it won't go through based on other small projects! My machine is good but maybe I'm missing something!!

What a super fun take on quilting 101! I love Dana's fabrics, so this was great to see her color combinations for this project. I have a Squeeze HST quilt in my near future and I chose the orange print for the back too!! It's so bright and cheery perfect for a summer quilt.

I love hand binding quilts too. It might seem horribly tedious to some people, but I find it so satisfying to wrap up the quilt sandwich and make invisible stitches along the perimeter. I don't have the energy or money to make more whole quilts right now, but would love to get work binding quilts for others!

    Yay, Dana! You’re back!
I started making a quilt last fall, and now I’m hooked! I have now done five quilt tops. Take a look at how to use pool noodles to make your quilt sandwich. I did a quilt last week with this, and I’m now a convert! I have a knee injury, so I can’t get up and down from the floor very well.

Oh good good! I'm so happy to hear that Cindi! Yea, I've found with most sewing projects you don't need anything fancy....I mean, extra tools can help, or they make certain processes easier...but sometimes they also make me feel overwhelmed and uninterested in trying!....so I just stick with the bare minimum that I need ☺️ Have fun making a quilt! - Dana
