Gwyn's Last Knight I know, it's pretty horrible. But I don't want to spend money on a bullshit B.C. Rich. I'd rather save up for a mid to high-end Jackson or Ibanez.
It's not horrible. Do what the fuck you want. John 5 plays metal on a Telecaster and he's an absolute monster. Metal's about way more than what kind of guitar you play.
***** you'd only be doing yourself a favor by getting a different guitar. i imagine not a lot of uncustomized strats have ideal pickups, and then there's the fretboard situation. just kill all the birds with one stone if you ask me.
Great solo -- I remember the first time I heard it. I was living in Oklahoma City, had bought the CD. I used to listed to CDs on headphones when I went to sleep. I was already sleeping and woke up when this solo started ripping in my ears. I was thinking .. holy shit! this is awesome!. The next morning, i fast forwarded to each solo to find what song it was. This has been my favorite Megadeth song ever since. I loved when they had Marty.
I really didn't think I could play this but I'm actually getting it from this video. It feels amazing to be able to make these melodies with my own hands. Thanks for the video, you're a great teacher.
Your a great teacher dude, I’ve got all the notes now , just got to get the phrasing and timing right. I find the appeggios the most difficult, but confident I can get them with practice. Probably not as clean as you play it , but thanks heaps for this lesson , will definitely be looking for more of your lessons, best I’ve seen.
With the same rhythm playing behind it, this is one of the greatest solos of all time. If you listen to the guitar by itself, it is still a masterpiece
another badass lesson. i love the way marty (and you) play, but my brain just doesn't seem to work that way. keep um coming though, your lessons are very detailed and precise, and greatly appreciated.
Man I just want to thank you for all that you do for us, you are by far best solo teacher on the internet thanks for this it was a great solo always like it :)
Dystopia for sure. Hardwired is a great album with some amazing riffs but most of the songs seem to be at the same speed as all of the others making listening to it feel like a drag (I listen to Opeth so long albums are not the issue here). Kirk's solos really don't do it for me on this album too. Plus Dystopia has Fatal Illusion.
I've never seen anyone combine melody quite Marty Friendman. People talk about EVH and Randy Rhodes in that regard and I totally agree, they're my top 2 guitarists as well but Marty is right up there. So damn good.
Thanks for posting this. I came to get the parts I couldn't figure out by ear. The way I figured out the beginning, and to make it sound like the recording, a bunch of those hammer ons are actually slides. I forgo the perfect hand position and slide all over the place.
Great lesson chris one small thing do marty's positioning at the start of section 2 is a bit different from yours and imo is easier he plays all the way up at the 2nd threat and goes 2nd on the b down to the 5th on the a back to the 2nd on the a then ur slidy thing but instead of the flat finger arpeggio across the b and g strings he plays the a# on the high e and the f# on the 7 of the B same notes but if u watch marty live that is what he does, other than that this lesson is great and helped me alot with the second half of the solo cheers
Marty choses his notes so well... I should have studied theory more, I love arpeggios but don't actually understand the names of any of them or how they fit together which is why I can't write anything as beautiful as the solo.
Chris Zoupa. You've tough me so much. Every time I want to learn a solo, I check to see if Chris Zoupa did a lesson. Its always there. Hopefully that's all making sense.
Thanks so much !! I've been playing strictly by ear since 1980 & can figure stuff out usually but Marty is a great challenge & being able to see you having this worked out is a great help.
Overall it's quite an easy solo, but it has a couple of tricky parts. You will easily be able to play this solo at 50% and any solo you can play at 50% you can gradually increase it until you play at 100%. Even if you go from 5% increments. Give it a go :D
Awesome job with this solo Chris, Thanks a lot!.Can you do a solo lesson of the song "From the cradle to the grave" by Havok..i can't get it right all the tapping!.
I ask this here to before I try this solo: If you or anyone here has learned both the “Tornado” solo and “Lucretia,” would you say that “Tornado” is more challenging to learn? It looks like it is, but I’m not sure… Why I ask: Because I learned “Tornado of Souls” from you in 2016, but practicing this solo basically gave me a herniated disc in my neck a few weeks after, and I don’t want that to happen again 😂 At least the way I learned it, and because I ignored the pain I had while practicing the solo for three months. I really don’t want to practice like that again but I still want to learn “Lucretia,” so I just hope it’s easier… Just a little bit? 😉 It was the speed in the last parts of “Tornado” that was so damn hard for me. But I could play it at 80% speed in one month. “Lucretia” has some “weird” stuff, but at least it doesn’t have any super-fast parts, right?
The Puertorican Beast Jonathan Ayala oh okay. Well my hands are, at least my fingers, are almost Paul gilbert length. Even though I'm 5'9"/5'10" I can get away with my guitar close to waist height
Ik the solo to blackened and it sounds decent but I was wondering should I start off with learning faves solo first? I try to learn the solo to a song before anything bc it’s just easier for me to stay dedicated to learning it
Chris, a while ago I requested wicked end, and you said let me finish to end the rapture... Please now can you do wicked end after u get the rest of the solos from this song
Love your lessons! You've probably been asked this 10,000 times already, but do you ever plan on doing a lesson for Cliffs of Dover? If so, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Great job...I learnt this solo slightly differently but never nailed it like this. Goes to show note selection is what matters and Marty's solos on this album are proof....who the fuck can top this or ashes in your mouth?!?!?
Finally, a Marty solo that doesn't go past fret 21. It's a pain in the ass playing Megadeth on a Strat.
>Strat
>Megadeth
pick one.
Kyle S. I know, I meant it is horrible that I can't play so many songs because of the limited number of frets on my guitar.
***** you'd only be doing yourself a favor by getting a different guitar. i imagine not a lot of uncustomized strats have ideal pickups, and then there's the fretboard situation. just kill all the birds with one stone if you ask me.
Section 1 - 4:34
Section 2 - 10:17
Section 3 - 13:44
Section 4 - 18:35
Thx for time stamps
"Hopefully it's making sense."

Marty was hands down the best lead guitar they ever had
Nice story! Tell to reader's digest...
hey Mr.Chris, i personally feel you are the most dedicated guitar teacher in all of TH-cam
such a beautiful solo, almost brings tears to your eyes its so majestic.
God I love that part at section 4 such a great solo it has feel and emotion to it with Marty's expressive bends
Marty's style is so fluent in you Chris! Thanks so much for this.
Love this lesson. Without which would’ve been nearly impossible for me to learn this solo!
I really didn't think I could play this but I'm actually getting it from this video. It feels amazing to be able to make these melodies with my own hands. Thanks for the video, you're a great teacher.
One of my favourite solos. Thank you for this, will be spending the next few days (weeks) learning this and looking forward to part 2!

With the same rhythm playing behind it, this is one of the greatest solos of all time. If you listen to the guitar by itself, it is still a masterpiece
I did a version of this a few years ago BUT IT WAS BALLS lol
another badass lesson. i love the way marty (and you) play, but my brain just doesn't seem to work that way. keep um coming though, your lessons are very detailed and precise, and greatly appreciated.
YES! Thanks for doing more Megadeth! It's always win. I've been trying to play the rhythm parts of this song for years and still can't. But one day!
Can you now?
What about now
you crushed it again Chris. thanks to you I don't run away from solos while crying.
Man I just want to thank you for all that you do for us, you are by far best solo teacher on the internet thanks for this it was a great solo always like it :)
Thank you so much for this, probably my favourite ever metal solo after Tornado, feels amazing being able to almost play through it after your lesson!
Thanks zoupa on behalf of many guitarists
What's people's preference between Megadeths Dystopia and Metallicas Hardwired? I love both bands but Dystopia gets my vote
Crysis Music u have right dude
Crysis Music Dystopia by a longshot.
Dystopia is cool
Dystopia is my favorite, however there's some very average songs on Dystopia. Hardwired is very nice too though, breath of fresh air for Metallica.
Dystopia for sure. Hardwired is a great album with some amazing riffs but most of the songs seem to be at the same speed as all of the others making listening to it feel like a drag (I listen to Opeth so long albums are not the issue here). I was eagerly waiting for Dave solo and you are finally doing it. Wow... RESPECT
I've never seen anyone combine melody quite Marty Friendman. People talk about EVH and Randy Rhodes in that regard and I totally agree, they're my top 2 guitarists as well but Marty is right up there. So damn good.
I read somewhere that this was Marty’s favorite solo he created.
Holy shit that was fucking beautiful...
Thanks for posting this. I came to get the parts I couldn't figure out by ear. The way I figured out the beginning, and to make it sound like the recording, a bunch of those hammer ons are actually slides. I forgo the perfect hand position and slide all over the place.

You said my catch phrase. I'm honoured
@@chriszoupa7898 Glad you picked up on that brother. Still working my way through this beast. Cheers.
its funny, I was going to ask you in one of your video if you were going to do dave's solo for this song one day. Thanks for the lesson Chris!
The best solo in Rust In Peace.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the hardest, how hard would you say this solo is?
A cheeky 8
you should establish that rating for all the solos. somehow i find this encouraging.
Chris Zoupa which solo would you say 10 (hardest) ?
Overall it's quite an easy solo, but it has a couple of tricky parts. You will easily be able to play this solo at 50% and any solo you can play at 50% you can gradually increase it until you play at 100%. Even if you go from 5% increments. Give it a go :D

Awesome job with this solo Chris, Thanks a lot!.Can you do a solo lesson of the song "From the cradle to the grave" by Havok..i can't get it right all the tapping!.
i thought this was easier than the tornado of souls solo
god damn! this is harder
awesome job man. You're the best.
What kind of scale is this ? It sounds beautiful.
You play with great feeling, it's really fun watching you play this.
I ask this here to before I try this solo: If you or anyone here has learned both the “Tornado” solo and “Lucretia,” would you say that “Tornado” is more challenging to learn? It looks like it is, but I’m not sure…

I was just thinking about this song earlier today, great vid man :P
One guy drank his haterade this morning. Kick ass job!
You are the best teacher on you tube , TY man !
MERCI ...Chris ZOUPA ...et BRAVO ..verry good lesson!!!
Awesome - anytime I need the right solo xhris has it covered! Pun intended. Wicked
how the fuck can Marty do all those wide stretches with his guitar hanging so low
The Puertorican Beast Jonathan Ayala I don't know. Not to mention he is a small guy. 5'6" I believe. So unless he has monster hands I have not clue
Im a tall guy 6'0' and I have my strap at almost chest height to be able to stretch
The Puertorican Beast Jonathan Ayala oh okay. Well my hands are, at least my fingers, are almost Paul gilbert length. Even though I'm 5'9"/5'10" I can get away with my guitar close to waist height
I use a strat and the horn is almost at my chest the guitar itself is on top of my stomach
Oh okay. I use an SG so I have the neck around belly button area and it's pretty good on higher fret accessibility
Take a shot every time Marty uses an outside note
better not to combine it with learning his parts...
*takes shots every other note, in approximately 150 bpm*
I died
I'm very thankful Mister!
Everyone talking about Tornado of souls solo as best one, but i found Lucretia solo something more metaphysic and unconventional...
man you're the best guitar teacher on youtube, period. When are you finally gonna do riffs as well?
It’s been a week.
Everything mastered ….. except for section 2😅
What scales are being used here?
Could you please make a solo lesson on Heresy by Pantera
This has some Carleton kid charlemagne style to it.
Dude if i may say that was awesome!!!!!!!!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Chris!!
Amazing lesson 😁🤘🤘
small hands wont hold me back but my ring finger has gone numb with this solo
That section is pretty cray and ridonk! way to sum it up lol 😂
Amazing video thank you
hardest solo ever in my book. if anyone can teach it, you can. gimme another 18 years and maybe i"ll have it
on top of that, i know it's incredibly hard to play fast slowly to show someone. you're a hero
Para mi el solo más infravalorado d la historia
Hey Criss, which scales did Marty use for this solo?. Amazing video man!
Thank you, guy!
Hey Chris thx a lot for ur videos u are great! , as a suggestion u could play the whole solo slowly w tabs at the end of every video :)
Can you please do a lesson on not ready to die solo
Ik the solo to blackened and it sounds decent but I was wondering should I start off with learning faves solo first? I try to learn the solo to a song before anything bc it’s just easier for me to stay dedicated to learning it
I learned from this , I don’t quite play it perfectly like you but the video is on my page. Thanks a lot :)
Quick question have you listened to the new Megadeth album. If so what did you think?
Keep the awesomeness rolling you rock !!
Amazing
"it is quite evil" 1:27 lmao
Chris, a while ago I requested wicked end, and you said let me finish to end the rapture... Please now can you do wicked end after u get the rest of the solos from this song
Chris could you redo shattered by pantera and also do the ending one too that would be badass
Angels solo from Avenged Sevenfold please! 🙏
what a program with which you play the guitar?
What kind of guitar pick do you use Chris?
sibulat ...his thumb
Chris, you're awesome! Thanks for your videos. Please do Gates of Babylon from Rainbow and Samurai from MSG.
Could u possibly do the solo of suicide note part 2 by pantera, it's really wierd and is pretty much impossible to play by ear.
Hey Chris, could you do Goddamn by Avenged Sevenfold? Not my favorite band, but this song is pretty win ;)
How does he play without the pick?
uses his middle finger nail
Is that the Jeff Buckley Grace album poster on the wall behind you there dude?
why don't you do the jimi hendrix solos?
He improvised most of them live.
Could you do a "remastered" lesson of the afterlife solo from a7x?
Yo Chris, could you do a guitar solo lesson of New Years Day by Black Veil Brides
Love your lessons! You've probably been asked this 10,000 times already, but do you ever plan on doing a lesson for Cliffs of Dover? If so, I'd greatly appreciate it!
