ikr. Megadeth's bassist doesn't play too much complex stuff, but he's still a solid bassist in terms of tone, dynamics, and timing. It makes everything the band does sound so much better.
Yep you're right! drums and bass sound insane on this performance... as a guitar player I was immediately blown away by the sound of those drums and bass. Fuck me I would have loved to be there for this concert! RIP Nick Menza
I agree. Marty was easily the best counterpart to Dave. Dave's solos were always so aggressive and chaotic while Marty's were always so melodic and expressive. He was the Yang to Dave's Yin.

I find it interesting that Marty adopted the jazzy approach of his predecessors rather than the neoclassical music he played in Cacophony. There are many of his solos that are decidedly not neoclassical and particularly technical.
Nick really having the time of his life here, absolutely god tier drumming. I think he really solidified this album, along with Marty of course. Marty is just something else.
This lineup!! Menza was a machine, love the hanging cymbals, great combination of technical prowess and showmanship. Marty's playing is next level. Dave is pure talent. Very few can play and sing quite like he does with solos to boot... Just insane how good this lineup was.
Years ago I worked for a cartage company and delivered the "Shark Cage" drum hardware to Nick's house in The Valley (Los Angeles) for it's final resting place after years of Megadeth storage. This was after Nick was out of the band for some time. I told him I was a HUGE FAN, and that him and Marty were the BEST THING that ever happened to the band. He couldn't have been more gracious. He gave me a his solo CD, "Life After Deth," signed it and said, "Thanks for being a fan!" His mom also showed up and I got to meet her as well. That was one of the best days of work in my life!
Lucky Japanese people... Budokan will get the honour of watching our grumpy ginger and our weird af guitar picking technique guitarist together after 20+ years...
What is all this bullshit about the line-up? Mustaine is epic, Ellefson's bass lines are amazing, Friedman is the most emotional and powerful guitarist Megadeth ever had and Menza is a fucking beast! It can't be better. It's perfect.
It's like Marty dislikes metal and tries to separate himself from the rest of the band, in a very good, musically healthy and diverse way. I don't know if it's just me, but his solos sound like they were written as an improvisation over a piano backing track or something of that sort, I don't know how to explain it but Marty just couldn't keep doing metal, he had to do what Chris Poland did, Chris did the jazz fusion thing after leaving Megadeth and I guess Marty went in his desired direction.
I just see Marty Solos as very non-linear solos, everybody does solos over scales but Marty has a sense of melody out of standards that amaze me. Same with POland but he is more lika straight-jazz player.
When i saw this concert for the first time on a CD player. I thought its impossible for a band to sound so tight and so clean. And i thought Dave mustaine was an absolute god. Not much has deterred me from that thought since then
it's amazing this is as lively and happy i've seen Dave sing in a long time. he just looks genuinely awake and hyper instead of looking down and miserable all the time.
You've gotta have some serious physical fitness to hit the drums like Nick Menza... holy smokes it blows me away every single time I watch this performance.
Love how Marty plays with such casual ease.. megadeth was simply the best with him.. still nobody can replace him, the band has never been the same since his departure
Have you seen kiko loureiro or teemu mantysaari? They are just as good and Megadeth is still going strong. Especially teemu mantysaari - that guy can play anything.
Simply one of the greatest guitar solos *ever*.
alongside to Killing Road's
my only reasons why i keep listening to this song again and again its bec of the solo of my fav guitar player of all time MArty Friedman :)
Dave's solo compliments Marty's very well too.
Marty is so fucking good. Even live he always plays his shit note for note.
ÁUß Code 😂😂 exactly
Marty's a Picasso in solos compared to Dave who sounds like a child shreiking at times, especially here
I'm a guitarist who usually pays most attention to the guitar magic in Megadeth, but goddamn Nick Menza's drumming was tight
He does a video of it just playing the drums on his TH-cam page. It’s how I got here.🤘🏻
Master Menza's touch was just magical.
That kick drum sounds huge, can't ignore the drums in this recording, I wonder how it sounded from the audience.
R.i.P Nick. Your one of the few on the best metal album from my eyes and ears.
Yes, RIP.
That loud bass sounds good.
Agreed!
there was a fish in the vid? i must have missed it.
riffz0r ha. ha. ha. can't stop laughing. lol

Spencer Beberman you watched "how to not completely suck on bass" by spectresoundstudios didn't you :p
How Mustaine can sing and play these songs at the same time is mind blowing...
Exactly my thoughts too, mate. I don't understand how he does it!! The tunes are really complex but he does it flawlessly. Incredible stuff.
Right !!!

That bass...
Dave had some great energy here. In his prime for sure.
kingv911 which dave
M36class both hahaha
Probably drugs
it better if he do like this in london 1992
Agree His vocals are awesome in this
Watching Dave's hands fly all over that fretboard while singing is beautiful and inspiring.
Full energy.
boy dave and marty complament each other so well. I feel this was there best line up.
dodge peters lucretia , go to hell , hangar 18 the best they both line up
I agree. Marty was easily the best counterpart to Dave. Dave's solos were always so aggressive and chaotic while Marty's were always so melodic and expressive. He was the Yang to Dave's Yin.
Double Dave, Nick, and Marty were the best lineup
This is Megadeth for me. This lineup is legendary.
The era when they had the sweetest Jacksons.
Jesus, the drums are just so damn good on this one. I'm horrendously happy about that

Wow, you did good.

Dave is the most creative composer in the Metal History!

wow the lyrics are way more clear here than on the album
Marty just made sweet sweet love to that guitar! Haha
My favorite fucking metal guitarist EVER!

Megadeth music is so complex... Sometimes I think that it's like something like "jazz of metal". Amazing

The best part is that he makes IT look effortlessly when it is actually really challenging. Marty is truly the God of Guitar.
Only Dave can write a riff like that.

Great comment.
yeah that's right. And I have to say that I love this riff more than the solo, Dave is so incredible!

Besides the awesome solos, how is Dave playing complex/tough riffs so effortlessly and singing at the same time? Such a legend.
What?
Dave has such nice talking voice..
