The Bluetooth function of the DJI Mic 2 is indeed fantastic, a major advantage that sets it apart from other brands.

So having purchased the holder from you to record to a Samsung SSD for Apple log, I’m hoping you’ll do a video with some snazzy idea on how to connect the SSD plus the receiver for the DJI Mic 2 at the same time :-) so you get Apple Log video to the SSD and the fantastic audio from the mic without having to sync in post. Thanks man ! Great video as always

It definitely passes the polar express test! 😁 I have been looking at upgrading my wireless mic setup for my iPhone rig. Yes, I do have one that allows both recording and mic using an USB hub on a Smallrig universal cage. I can also use a lighting USB adapter for my older iPhone 13 mini that works just fine with the BMC app for recording. Loving this new technology. The 32 bit recording on the TX is what sold me on this. Thanks for your review. BTW it was equally cold here in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. There is no escaping it.

I really hope Apple makes their own portable mic (iMic) that just works automatically and syncs easily using multiple iPhones & iMics together .. hate having to sync in post production or use timecode and all that stuff.. seriously

Thank you for the great video.
However, while connecting the transmitter to the smartphone via Bluetooth, the transmitter's internal recording function cannot be used.
    This is very unfortunate.

I agree, it sounds like DOO DOO when connected via bluetooth. I'm not expecting it to be amazing but maybe an update can make it sound just a little bit better. Thought I was crazy at first but your one of the few to mention the difference so thank you!

Hi Bro! Good effort. DJI Mic 2, I am facing auto disconnection with iphone.
The mic will work properly for the first time after connecting. If you stop video recording and start re-recording, the mic will be disconnected. Even if the video recording is turned off and on for a while, the same problem occurs. The DJI mic is switching to the iPhone mic. Is there any solution for this?

Dude, the mic doesn’t record 32 bit float internally when connected to the phone directly via bluetooth, I made a video about it on my channel a couple of days ago that’s getting some traction right now - so how did you get it to record internally while connected via bluetooth when it’s even stated on the dji website (although a bit hidden out of sight) that with mobile phones internal recording *and* noise cancellation is not possible?

    • @initialfocus
      @initialfocus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I guess I need to retest this again….you’re the second person to mention this. When I connect via Bluetooth I have no problem then hitting record on the transmitter and seeing the red light. No indication 32bit float turns off. Granted my recordings have all turned out good so I’ve barely needed to grab the 32bit float off the mic but finally DJI approved this video ahead of time in terms of fact checking and that wasn’t mentioned to me as something I missed or got wrong. I’ll check out your video and see what’s up!

@@initialfocus I just did a check again, and if I set the mic to bluetooth mode (but make sure my phone has bluetooth off) the mic is then looking for something known to connect to, and blue light is blinking slowly (so no pair mode).
Then, if you press the record button it starts recording internally (since it’s not *connected* via bluetooth, just in bluetooth connect mode) and it will record internally. As soon as I turn on bluetooth on my phone, and the tx connects to my phone AND I open the blackmagic camera app and choose the tx the internal recording shuts off, and if I then press record-button it blinka red once and bzz’es and don’t record internally - I have one example in the video on my channel, and have tested several times after that as well :) Of course, the final nail in the coffin is that dji also states this in the website, I’m guessing the employee who checked your video skipped through parts of it ;)

@@AndreSjoberg You are correct. It does not work. This is a limitation imposed by DJI to ensure consumers do not simply purchase the least expensive component and not the more profitable/compatible entire kit. It is a very good business plan. Now you know why Apple refused for so long to switch to USB-C. European law forced Apple's hand. Otherwise, they would never have switched to USB-C willingly.

@@initialfocus I have just tested it again - with both the old and the new firmware, a recording stops when pairing via Bluetooth as soon as you start an audio or video recording on the connected device (cell phone, tablet or Mac).
This only works in conjunction with an Osmo Pocket 3 camera.
I have not been able to test it with an iPhone 15 Pro, but you are the only one with whom it should work?
Have you also checked the internal recording? In the first firmware version of the Tansmitter, the red recording indicator was still lit the whole time, but the recording was canceled as soon as the recording button on the connected device was pressed.
I also checked whether it was due to the settings in the Osmo Pocket 3. But even with deactivated audio / video coupling it did not work.
      So i am very confused.

Among all the Wireless Mic at this price range, the DJI sounded the worst. It's not even a subjective thing about sound quality, it just sounded lower quality than others at the similar price range. The mic while never marketed as match, they are not consistent, one sounded darker and another can sound brighter. What's worst is that, these DJI mic are way too bright and thin which is less suitable for spoken words application which is what this mic is used for. I like everything about this mic except the sound quality. Rode wireless pro sounded the best but I don't like the form factor and their case seemed "forced" but if I had to choose. I'll still go with the wireless pro in a heartbeat. Did I mentioned that these DJI Mics are not shielded? Or poorly shielded? They are not a mic company so I understand that, but these are basic. And their sound via Bluetooth is subpar versus plugging in the receiver.

Hi Michael. Thanks for the hard work you do to bring us the interesting and useful content you do.
I was wondering if you (or anyone else reading this) might be able to help with a question I have about both this DJI Mic 2 system as well as the Rode Wireless Pro.
Can you transfer onboard 32-bit float files from the TX to an iPhone 15 Pro (which is equipped with a 10GBs USB-C port) by just connecting them directly by USB-C cable, and viewing the files on the TX just like any other external drive?
Rode's support tell me no for their system (although one of their videos suggests otherwise) as the phone can't provide enough power. I asked if connecting both TX and phone to a usb-c hub with power would solve the issue, but was told that iOS devices still don't have the supported system to access the files.
I would really appreciate it if someone with either the Rode or DJI system and a new iPhone 15/Pro/Max could test to double check. I don't really understand why it can be done with a PC but not the new iPhone 15 Pro's with their flexible new USB-C connection.
The reason I ask, is I am in the process of building a video rig around the iPhone 15 Pro and will be doing all post-production on the phone too. Pushing that expensive phone as far as it will go!
