- With its magnificent French colonial old town, cafes, pubs, creative culture, relaxed vibe, & gorgeous riverside setting Kampot is an ideal spot to spend an extended stay. After the Khmer Rouge times Kampot was a sleepy crumbling place - which was how it was when I first went there. When Chinese money started taking over nearby Sihanoukville ex-pats left & relocated en masse to Kampot sparking a rejuvenation & cultural blossoming. In this episode of Seeker of the Way we check out what's going on in Kampot & if it's still the best place in Cambodia to chill out long term for creative ex-pats. Come along for a bumpy ride.

I love Kampot it's a quiet place 👌
Sihanouk Ville is a not horrible place, it is transforming into high-end luxury place to attract high-spending tourists, not for backpackers anymore.
Thanks for your video. I visited there for the first time a few days ago and will be moving there next month to check it out as a more permanent place to live. I found Kampot to be fairly inviting with a more "up and coming" vibe too. Looking forward to being there.
Glad it was helpful! :)
I have been viewing many videos of Battambang recently, and I see that Kampot is much quieter than Battambang, both in terms of noise of passing 2- and 4-wheel vehicles and the general ambiance. I was interested in B because my first wife's Vietnamese grandfather was a district chief under the French regime in the 1930s, and because it appeared much more laid back than Phenom Penh.
Both have a lot of potential!
This reminds me of a Gabriel Traveler video. Nice work. 👍
Thanks! 😃
I like watching your videos, you're very knowledgeable about this country
So nice of you, thanks! :)
Thanks for show about my country. There are many nice places in Cambodia. Hope you all enjoy much 👍
Thank you too!
thank you brother. keep them coming. I have family in kampot that I cannot visit for a while so these videos really help. great video work too. take care and god bless.
Glad to hear that!
I enjoyed your video and I like your mellow delivery. Quite pleasing. My wife and I will be visiting Kampot later this year. Looking forward to it.
Welcome aboard!
A real gem... 💎😊
I lived there around 7 years ago for 4 months and first time visited there in 2000. Places always change. Living there I found it rather nice to explore areas around there and there is nice nature with no people about but socially I found it rather not interesting as the local expats life tends to revolve around bars ( I don't drink) and the local Khmer although friendly enough I tried and failed to make any lasting connections. Actually I would prefer to live in PP rather than Kampot as its more interesting. I also found the food to be rather expensive if you want to eat some quality. The architecture is quite nice and if passing thru as you are its a great stop along the way...
Good to hear about your experience!

_What a wonderful Kampot city neighborhood scenery with vibrant atmosphere and incredibly narration, the sense of your walking tour is so palpable and make me felt was like right there. Thanks for always sharing your expertise with us._
So nice of you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Your presentation makes sense. I came here too with bus from Phnom Penh 10 years ago. There were quite a few hotels and guesthouses then but not that many food places. Tha place was lovely then. And is was catered to by european teachers and the like.
ah yes the feeling of my home town 🙂
Wellcome you back
I have not been in this place and there are not many people there. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you too
Im one of those expats...Covid came and they made me go home.😢
I tried moving to kampot. I lasted just over two months. I was sick nearly the entire time. I would not recommend this place if you have health concerns. The health care here is horrible.
"Authentic Run Down Place" LoL. I want to see an inauthentic run down place.
