    Why is an 18 year old daughter even trying to set up her “14 year old” sister with a guy anyways? She’s still too young to be involved with a 17 year old guy! 🤬 Maya is unhinged and needs to be kept away from Lia. She has to humble her? Oh hell no! She wouldn’t be allowed my daughter after her behavior and attitude.
    OP is concerned about Lia’s new boyfriend, but I wonder if Lia wants him near her for protection. 🤔 It’s what makes the most sense to me. She’s afraid to be alone and if she can have a guy around her, she feels safer.😢

    • @MinkxiTes
      @MinkxiTes 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      It could be she just has a boyfriend now because she wants some semblance of power back that was taken from her when she got attacked. A not so untypical thing for victims of these situations.
      But in endeffect we can just guess.

    • @lindah3803
      @lindah3803 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Yes it does take time. However, those redditors just look at the story told without taking into account the time line. OP didn't write her post, including updates as it was taking place and in just 5/6 days. They're also not considering that as time goes on, OP is going to learn a lot more about Maya, Leigh, and the whole situation.

      Except that there was no trial, as OP clearly pointed out. They had overwhelming evidence against them and they pleaded guilty. Hence no long, drawn-out trial. Just a sentencing, which takes a day and gets express treatment rather than being put in queue behind other trials.

    • @lindah3803
      @lindah3803 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nehcrum It can. However, it did take longer in this case. The court hearing/sentencing wasn't set immediately. The court gave some time for OP to get her into therapy. Also OP talked about the impact statement that she had written and originally wanted to read herself. Then later decided to use a recording of her statement. They already had all the guys involved in the attack locked up. With the talk of deals.
      With how everything went down. The nature and details of what took place. A prosecutor isn't going to rush through it. They want Leigh to have "her day".

    The standout thing that points to a setup is that Maya left the house and Lia unattended to go get food. And when she came back didn't check on Lia even when there was a commotion coming from Lia's room.

      Did it say when Maya got back. I don't remember off hand. I do know that OP was told that the assault lasted for at least 2 hrs.
      I believe Maya did set the whole thing up. It definitely could have been for drugs. I think it was more to get back at her sister for the affair with her BF.
      OP talked about Maya being upset about it. She never mentioned any punishment for Leigh.

    • @asherdales
      @asherdales 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@lindah3803 I think OP said that Maya was back in the house after it started but was "thinking that people were just having an argument."
      Also I don't think that the sister's ex bf thing was an affair. Iirc it was him who had a thing for a 12 year old at the time so I don't know what punishment there could be for Lia.

      @@asherdales I just referred to it as an affair because OP had said there was a bunch of messages that were flirty and that they had kissed when Maya was out of the room.
      I remember OP mentioned that people thought someone was having an argument upstairs. I thought it was what the other people who attended the party said. I don't remember OP saying that Maya was home during the attack.

    After reading the whole story earlier despite not really a fan of SA reddit stories. Maya is indeed a psychopath who completely set everything up to get her little sister SA and wtf sets their sibling up to get with a rapist? That is so wrong in many ways.
    However, it did felt like Maya was practically guilt tripping or whatever the correct word is, her sister into forgiving her since being 14 is still young and easily can be manipulated by others. Just my opinion, nothing else. But honestly, this story made my brain go all haywired.
    Second thing, Op did seem naive at first that she didn't know her first daughter could do that stuff. There were signs, weren't there? Like Maya had something up her sleeve before the SA happened.

    • @charityquill4965
      @charityquill4965 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Also OP being super hard on herself because she didn't handle the aftermath of breaking the news to Maya about her cheating bf grooming her younger sister in the "best way". I thought how she handled it seemed fine, and if it wasn't, that doesn't make her responsible for what happened to Lia. That's solely on Maya

    • @deadsouljaguar7041
      @deadsouljaguar7041 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@charityquill4965 True. All of what happened to them will take a lot of time for them to heal. Op needs to learn not to be hard on herself after what everything that happened. Maya should've been thrown into prison and I don't know how the justice system works in Op's country but the ones who SA'd the daughter should've gotten a longer sentence. On the side note, I do remember reading the youngest daughter have got a bf. I think it's a bit too soon for that.

      "Op did seem naive at first that she didn't know her first daughter could do that stuff. There were signs, weren't there? Like Maya had something up her sleeve before the SA happened." OP mentions that she works in a hospital, so I believe that is a tribute to not knowing Maya well enough to realize, plus she never knew the extent of her case until afterwards. So yes, she might've been naive, but if you work in the medical field, you'd know how easy it is to miss things inside your home

    Obviously this isn't the most important detail, but I found it somewhat shocking that the staff of the mental facility that Lia was committed to after her attempt were even considering restricting her contact with her mother. Of course every mental health situation is different and that might be something that needs to be done in certain situations, but in this case I don't see how that would even remotely help. Especially as a punishment for not engaging in group activities, she's a 14-year-old SA victim, I wouldn't expect her to engage in much of anything.

    • @claumarciaanita4268
      @claumarciaanita4268 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      That's a common practice from what I've read. I was in a mental facility when I was 15 y/o as well and they did this exact same thing to me. It's supposed to help you get up and do stuff when you're really depressed, but honestly? It was very traumatic as a teenager, scared and lonely in a really harsh place.

    • @jessik1810
      @jessik1810 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That really bothered me too, I was committed once for wanting to die, and they let me go on walks with my parents pretty much whenever they were there. I don't remember much from the first few months, but I think they visited pretty much daily. And I had a time after I wasn't so heavily medicated anymore where I didn't want to see them because I felt so guilty, the hospital wouldn't let them to me if I didn't want them too. What I'm saying is that there are definitely better ways to help people and that that hospital in the story is definitely a bad one. Especially because they made her have a therapy session with only a male doctor present, who ever thought that was a good idea should be fired.

    My now deceased great friend Fabien the fabnificent actually completely blinded, maimed and mutilated an assaulter who was another friends mothers boyfriend of many years, and it stopped for several years after childhood but when she got older it started its advances and more brazenly flirting and then touching alot, and she ran away at 16 and lived near but with friends and it used contacts in police to find her and bring her to its home and it drunkenly forcefully kissed her right in front of her "mother" who ignored it and then the tongue and she started screaming and fighting it off and it open hand hit her then push kicked her! Then it said she bit its nose even though no marks and the mother demanded she go to her room but then left the house to go to a vfw to drink and left it with her, she thought they both left so she cane out and was ambushed by it standing quietly in the dark hallway, and tried to full on assault her, she pulled a mirror down from the wall on it and fled. Then later that night police arrested her for serious charges and refused to even hear her allegations and when she was released she refused to go home until fab said hed handle it and he did! He escaped all repercussions entirely, he actually did all his legendary epic levels of vengeance for his loved ones, born in the gutter, rose to be a nearly millionaire by 22 with the connections he made in his life, and had 3 wonderful brilliant children and a most ideal wife although they never officially married, they had an unofficial ceremony and a quite memorable 3 day trip with friends to a private lake and that resulted in 2 couples meeting and marrying and having children but unfortunately in 2020 he suddenly passed away in an accident but he achieved more than most ever will with full lives and opportunities.
