I can't speak for all the other Wario fans, but at least the reason I love the Wario franchise (particularly Land and World) is that I think it's a fantastic marriage of character and game design. Wario's very character heavily influences the games he's in, which is why collecting treasure and finding secrets is a staple of the platformer side (and the general weirdness of his character and existence within the greater Mario universe informs just how insanely bizarre the Ware series is). Mario is a blank slate (by design), so the adventure is presented as something that needs to happen. Wario, on the other hand, is greedy and you are _rewarded_ for playing like Wario and being as greedy as possible, Before I get hate comments, I want to say I have no issue with the way Mario games are designed. There's nothing wrong with how they're usually done. Mario can go anywhere and do anything. It's just with Wario, the kind of character he is is inseparable from the games he stars in. Mario is interchangeable with any other character (and often is able to be swapped out with other characters). But Wario games wouldn't work as well if Wario wasn't in them. Finally! I have been waiting for this moment for years! I haven't played the second game, so I didn't care too much, but this here is a game I have had some experience with!
This was my first game that was bought for me on my brother's old GBC, so many memories it brings as this one is the one that got me obsessed with Wario (to the point i, still currently, prefer him more than mario and anyone else). The level style, progression, upgrades etc. Are what really made beating the levels and finding a new treasure and secret so worth it. It is indeed one of the more unique ones as I felt no other game compared to it, even though I really like the other Wario Land Games that I played much later in life they never captured the same feel. Great video!
Though much more stripped back in terms of gameplay mechanics, Tails Adventure is somewhat similar in terms of having open-ended levels that open up more as you collect powerups (or different items/weapons in terms of Tails Adventure) I'll admit it's probably not at all on the same level, but you might want to check it out regardless. I feel like it's very enjoyable, even to someone who isn't just playing it because they're a huge fan of Tails and desperate for a good solo game with him.

I remember getting this game several years ago, getting stuck on the fourth level, and never playing it again. Now that I know what the objective is, I think I'll pick it back up again; thanks, Goomba - I thought those $14 were wasted.
Thank you Goomba for having the dedication I did not: to get everything in Wario Land 3. I figured out what the reward was going to be for everything a long time ago was and thought "Nope! I do not have the patience for this and I got all the rings in the Oracle Zelda games!" It's sad because I love this game and it has some rocking tunes so I expected a sound test or something.
I was literally wondering if you were still doing content yesterday, shocked me as i hadn't been keeping up with you since.... i think.... 2017. Nice to see you still out here.
Random fact: That scientist enemy (Mad Scienstein) is actually a character from the Japan only game Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (The Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls), and acts as Rudy's minion in Dr Mario 64, which also brings back various characters from this game and gives Rudy his actual name. He then returns again as that scientist guy in Wario Land 4, who you basically beat up and throw around to solve puzzles in the bonus rooms. So he's a random cameo from an obscure Nintendo game that started appearing in the Wario series for whatever reason, and has absolutely nothing to do with the storyline or world in either of them.
I'll keep telling people, but this is quality content! Absolutely superb videos, still as enjoyable to watch nowadays as back in 2015/2016. I can't imagine the time you put into the editing and especially the animation!! Moment of appreciation, thank you man. Thank you for making my day better, genuinely. Keep it up legend.
2002, my mom took me to Wal-Mart to get my 1st GameBoy ever. I got to pick the color, lime green and 3 games along with it. They were Batman Beyond, Mega Man Xtreme 2 & Wario Land 3. While Batman was alright, MM Xtreme 2 was incredible. I remember just spending countless hours...DAYS playing Wario Land 3. Like you mentioned, the game is huge and had so much to explore. A few weeks into WL3, I remember just 1 day not being able to find my GBC, I was looking everywhere for it, considering how far I was into the game. I was so bummed out, in tears actually. A month later I end up finding it inside the couch near the arm rest, I pulled it out from there and was so stoke to get back into playing the game once again. I eventually reached the Clown boss, being shocked that you got a GAME OVER screen from being caught by him. When I beat em though, I remember seeing the ending cutscene, being shock that all the enemies were the original villagers all along and relieved that Wario finally got out of the globe, rewarded. Then, when the credits theme started playing, I remember just crying. An amazing experience and countless hours of exploring finally coming to end, hearing all the music boxes playing together. Overall, Wario Land 3 was a massive part of my childhood. Given countless hours of entertainment. It's 1 of the top, if not, my favorite handheld game ever to this day,
Unrelated to most of the video, but I used to watch this channel years ago and the moment that intro came on so many memories I forgot I had returned to me. Glad to see that TLG's content is as entertaining as I remember
This was an excellent review. And I agree, I would put this as my favorite Game Boy Color game. The sunset of the Game Boy Color has some my favorite games for it. Frankly, it holds a special place in my heart. Especially since you know this is the true end of the 8-bit era.
Your videos on the Wario Land series got me to play through them. I'm still working towards 100% on Wario Land 2, but this makes me excited to try the 3rd
This is also one of my favorite titles, I remember fully completed this title in my youth and it was a blast. Getting lost in the world and exploring the world and remembering where to go after unlocking a power up, is just heavily fun. I spent months on that title to fully complete. I personally enjoyed the golf mini game. The section with the doctor when he moved his arm up and down fluently was fantastic editing, it shows how much your content has improved over the years. The gag about gaijin goomba was neat, you two should have another cross over again as it has been a heavy long amount of time since the last one.
Wario Land 3 is also my favorite game in the series and among the best Game Boy Color games because of everything you mentioned and despite the issues you pointed out in this fantastic review of it!
ive never played wario land 3 but seeing that puzzle near the end where you need to get fat; set on fire and then become a zombie is crazy. i love wario land 4 a ton but that puzzle alone made me think how much more potential wario land could have
The scientist is the one who accidentally opened up the gateway to Rudy's dimension, releasing him into the mortal world. It's implied in Dr. Mario 64, that he served Rudy out of fear. He was most likely just trying to stop wario from releasing the colossal clown.
I am so happy you covered this, I have been waiting for this for years, this was one of my absolute favourite games growing up! It was fun, weird and creative, though it also scared me for some reason, can't quite tell why...Anyway, thanks for the new perspective you brought to my memory lane! Edit: OH MY GOD THAT WAS THE COIN THAT NEVER LET ME FINISH THE GAME THIS HURT IN MY CHILDHOOD
I really wished they made a 3D platform Wario game that's structured like this, the blueprint was here all along but somehow Treasure preferred to make a beat em up for Wario World.
Hey hey, Goomba, just wanted to say that I love your content, even the underviewed videos. I wish someone like you got more attention as you very much deserve it! Thank you for making these entertaining videos despite all that. I always look forward to your next video. Just wanted to give my thanks to you.

gingivitis the clown might be one of my favourite sentences I've ever heard. Also I remember getting this game on virtual console back when it came out and now I have it on official hardware. And I've now finally 100% after almost 10 years
Personally, this is my favorite Game Boy Color game. Was also my very first Wario Land game too! I had it when I first got the handheld for my 9th or 10th birthday, and was obsessed trying to find every secret I could possibly find. I seriously wish Nintendo would remember this series and make more games like this again. While I do like the Warioware games, I just think Wario was at his best in his own platformer series. GAHHHHHHHHH, that one last Music coin though... I agree. It was the single reason why I never got to 100% the game until much later and learning about it. How would ANYONE know it was hidden off-screen in the ceiling, especially with another Music coin already there? Definitely the worst way to hide a secret indeed. >_
Awesome video and all, but.... Watching this made me realise something huge! I'm deeply confused about how wario games actually fit into the overall mario lore. For the most part, everything kinda makes sense holistically! Yoshi's games tend to take place on Yoshi's island with kamic trying to cause issues on Bowser's behalf, The Kong's have their own places (also Islands mostly) that revolve around bananas in a similar way the mushroom Kingdom revolves around mushrooms, even Luigi games are set with exploring the more paranormal side of the mushroom Kingdom... And then wario games come along and blow all of that outta the water. It honestly feels like each wario game isn't even taking place in the same universe since they are so distincly different to each other. I always thought that wario was meant to be Mario's rival, but I'm not even sure if wario even has his own goals?! Is he a treasure-hunter someplace in the mushroom Kingdom (wario land)? Or video game maker in some earth-like world (warioware)? Hero (super mario 64 DS)? I'm honestly kinda baffled really?! There seems to be absolutely no consistency! What'cha think? I personally can't wrap my head around it at all.
The Mario universe is really strange so I wouldn’t really be surprised if Wario’s adventures just take place in some even more bizarre part of the world than the Mushroom Kingdom. And he just kinda pops up in the Mushroom Kingdom whenever he feels like it.
@@zingerific8209 You're right! There's even a kingdom called the 'Bean bean kingdom' where all the residents are literally beans... So maybe I'm thinking too much into it hahaha.
Definitely my favorite Wario, feel it's severely underrated (especially compared to 4). Glad new folks can experience it on switch, also considering it's the only WL game on there as of right now... maybe Nintendo agrees as well 🤔
Incredible video. 👍I didn't expect you to get all the Treasures. But you actually did it. I didn't like this game when I was a kid. But when I played it as an adult. I thought it was a Wonderful adventure. It's like being on a long pirate journey. Looking for treasure everywhere😁❤
This has great potential for a remaster. Just update the textures and colors a little, add a better indicator for that last coin, and make sure the controls are smooth, and bingo. I'd totally give it a whirl!
We finally have Wario Land 3! Do you plan on doing Master of Disguise? It's a lot easier and quite frankly, I thought it was much more fun. I know that Wario World was before, but unless Mario plans on dropping a GameCube and a TV, then it's going to be hard to play.
Also my words on Wario land 3, it's a really good Wario game and honestly even though it's super underrated and honestly even though it's a big game it was honestly a good choice to have this be the first Wario game to be included in the Gameboy Online Pack. Heck even rewind helped avoid most of the pitfalls this game does, Also I did do a time attack challenge where I did every level and got every key in menu order and posted the times on twitter where you can attempt the challenge yourself and try to beat my times;
There's a trick in W2 I discovered to save a ton of time. You can actually get both the green and red keys in one trip to the clifftop and you only need to ride the minecart once. After getting the green key, jump off the ledge to the right and you'll land on another platform below, then do a jump attack to the right and grab the red key on your way down
I've been waiting for this video for a LONG time. EDIT: I'm gonna say this I 100 chest the game when I run randomizers of it in about 4 to 6 hours. The amount of time it takes to complete is dependent on your knowledge of the game also it helps to know some cheese strats.
Dude, this is an insanely high quality video. Frankly, wasn't expecting that. The jokes all landed perfectly. You got this cynical, crabby adult to laugh on several occassions. Great stuff.
As a huge Metroid fan, I live for new Metroidvanias everyday. I know it's unlikely, but I would definitely buy this game if they remastered it for their current console. Seems like a blast (except all the golf...). Happy to be your two favorite things combined (in that particular order), hope you take it easy!
Wario Land 3 is a masterpiece. It is the reason SaveStates was invented. It’s the game that evolves as you play. It’s the platformer that never ends. Thank goodness it’s on Nintendo Switch Online. Gives the new generation a way to play this gem!

So THIS is where the Dr. Mario 64 opponents came from. As a kid I never really questioned their existence
I remember getting this game several years ago, getting stuck on the fourth level, and never playing it again. Now that I know what the objective is, I think I'll pick it back up again; thanks, Goomba - I thought those $14 were wasted.
Came back after 100%ing my copy of Wario Land 3 to reminisce with Goomba. I'm glad I finally went back.
I still have to finish beating this game. So glad you did a review on this!
I finished the game before watching this.
Not even joking though I would be so endlessly happy if you reviewed that Austin powers game
I was literally wondering if you were still doing content yesterday, shocked me as i hadn't been keeping up with you since.... i think.... 2017. Nice to see you still out here.
The exploration in this game was so fun to figure out, absolute gem and my favorite Wario Land/GBC game! Glad to see it covered
I’m really happy that the game being a launch title for GBC Switch Online is getting it more fans
Watching this through to the end, it now makes sense why this was the first Wario Land game to be ported to Nintendo Switch Online.
23:23 “I mean how? How is anyone expected to do this?”
Nintendo: “Oh we know a way~.” *wiggles about a Wario Land 3 guide book* 😈
Keep it up man definitely enjoying my time as a patreon right now.
Absolutely love this channel and am shocked to see how few views the newer videos have gotten. Keep up the great work
2002, my mom took me to Wal-Mart to get my 1st GameBoy ever.
It's 1 of the top, if not, my favorite handheld game ever to this day,
Walking and or jumping around to get rid of the fat status is at least a positive message for the younger players
Might be my favorite video of yours so far. This game looks great.
Apparently, he only has a invisibility potion
@@VoodooVDO probably because it's his way of evading Rudy's detection.
I’m telling you that this game is a prequel to Warioland II. Think about it! It all adds up
I think this is the longest video you've ever made, I think it's best one too.
Hey hey, Goomba, just wanted to say that I love your content, even the underviewed videos. I wish someone like you got more attention as you very much deserve it! Thank you for making these entertaining videos despite all that. I always look forward to your next video. Just wanted to give my thanks to you.
It’s finally time for the anticipated warioland 3 vid
Wario is love, Wario is life
Wario sees you want fun, wario will show you fun
He never fails to make me remember him
This game was just me going back and fourth talking to the hidden figure
Honestly this should be a channel that everyone knows. This is why:
He took a part of 1-1 (everyone knows 1-1) where a goombas stuck between two pipes (everyone knows both of those things) and started gaming (everyone knows gaming)
I've waited weeks for this. Didn't disappoint.
8:25 i like to think that you slot it in somewhere at the bridge and manually lower it by turning the winch
gingivitis the clown might be one of my favourite sentences I've ever heard.
To whoever wrote those subtitles its football
Great video LG
Glad new folks can experience it on switch, also considering it's the only WL game on there as of right now... maybe Nintendo agrees as well 🤔
Execellent review as always Goomba, though i must ask, do you still plan on playing that Austin Powers game
Incredible video. 👍I didn't expect you to get all the Treasures. But you actually did it. I didn't like this game when I was a kid. But when I played it as an adult. I thought it was a Wonderful adventure. It's like being on a long pirate journey. Looking for treasure everywhere😁❤
As someone who also loves this game, it makes me really happy to hear goomba say how much he enjoyed it too
This has great potential for a remaster.
Shall cover every Wario platform game this year hopefully
@@TheLonelyGoomba I'll *NEVER* resubscribe you, even if I you did your thoughts on Jazz Jackrabbit series eventually
@@mariomuncher44 I have zero thoughts on Jazz Jackrabbit as I've never played it
@@TheLonelyGoomba Wikipedia has information
@@TheLonelyGoomba So Virtual Boy Wario Land and Wario Land Shake It.
Also my words on Wario land 3, it's a really good Wario game and honestly even though it's super underrated and honestly even though it's a big game it was honestly a good choice to have this be the first Wario game to be included in the Gameboy Online Pack.
Heck even rewind helped avoid most of the pitfalls this game does,
Also I did do a time attack challenge where I did every level and got every key in menu order and posted the times on twitter where you can attempt the challenge yourself and try to beat my times;

What a great piece of work, I love this video ^^
I really liked the game when I played it but after beating the clown I tried to get the treasure I was missing and it was too overwhelming, I never completed it, now I can't wait for the review of Wario Land 4, my favorite Wario Land game.
Finally covering Wario land 3, it's a Lonely goomba W moment
@TheLonelyGoomba, I'm curious if you've ever played Shantae for the Game Boy Color and, if so, how do you think it compares to Wario Land 3?
I died when you called the Face, Mister Doobie. You nailed it!!
These videos are making me wanna marathon the wario land series lol
Yeah I finished this game on NSO not too long ago and I am so thankful for the rewind feature.
There’s still 2 Wario land games left, you can do it Goomba!
i was just playing this game today lol. Aand yesterday. and the day before...
