- The Mini Mario's return. And this time, they've taken over the whole game. They're everywhere I tells ya! March of Mini's is a pretty divisive game. But, let's give it a fair shot.

The Mini Mario games really got better with the carnival themed one. The levels were better, the controls were simplified, they varied things up with keys and doors you had to put Minis in in order, just a much more quality game.

actually i played them all on release (except that shitty pseudo 3D one) and ive gotta say my favorite one is the 2nd one... and the gb and gba one ofc

The online mode DID indeed let you download levels from all over the internet, it is where the bulk of the fun comes from with this game.
Overruled 👨⚖:
The whole game sucks, because the toy gimmick isn't very polished and overall frustrating plus compare to the past games the level design and gameplay are a complete downgrade. I say this as a newcomer to this games so unlike you I am not blinded by nostalgia.
@@gjahmato8704 I'm also a newcomer to this series, it's the only Mario VS. DK game I ever played.
That being said It was a long ass time ago, but also consider this: console games with level creation tools and the ability to share them online were few and far between. I understand the game doesn't hold up but any game is made 1000x better by including a level editor.
Especially as an aspiring artist, it was "the shit"
It might be "meh" game now, but back when it had full online functionality it was very enjoyable and I'd argue it still would be.

Definitely overhated and underrated. I loved this game, and beat it as well. Spent hours making levels and just messing around in the Construction Zone. Actually one of my favourite DS games.
I totally agree! I just started playing the game after playing Mini-Land Mayhem in 2018 and think it's really good.

I think it's over hated cause of how basic it is in comparison to every other game and even then the games aren't that special so that explains it somewhat

I had only played Mario VS. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! which I think is an amazing game so when I tried this I hated it, but it's interesting to hear your perspective, great video as always!
Mini-Land Mayhem is really good, I wasted so many hours in the stage builder as a kid

Ah, Mini-Land Mayhem... The game I never actually managed to beat, but sunk countless hours into anyways, because I’m a total sucker for a good level editor.
Mini Land Mayhem is the best out of all the Mario vs Donkey Kong games in my opinion
Same here. I’ve only played Mini-Land Mayhem and I loved that game. I’ve never played March of the Minis before, but I’ll give it a shot someday.

My brother actually got March of the minis for getting an A on his test while I got a war machine figure.
Eventually when he gave it to my other brother ae played it like it was Mario maker due to the course creation.
Never owned this one though.

I do wish that they had kept the DK 94 gameplay or even had simply incorporated gameplay in the NSMB series.
FUN FACT: The C on those “donkey king toys” stands for “circus”, because their official names are “circus kongs” because the way they throw the mini marios into the air is kinda like juggling. Sometimes they’ll ACTUALLY juggle them
I remember this game. It was good times and personally liked the new minis.
Honestly I always thought that this game as a less fun version of lemmings. Glad that my judgment wasn't wrong. If they wanted to make a lemmings inspired game, they should have just went with any other theming other than Mario versus donkey kong.

Bruh this game was amazing I always went back to it. This is an underrated gem. I honestly had no problems with controlling the Mario’s and found it fun multitasking each Mario. Gold started every level and always replayed the game

I had March, March Again, and Mini-Land Mayhem growing up and man I loved them all. I specifically remember loving Mayhem the most, so many great memories with that game, I hope you end up talking about that one at some point!

I remember this game. The level editor was the only good thing about this game, otherwise it's a dumbed down version of the first game with touch controls shoved down your throat.

I LOVED this game when I was little. I literally played this all the damn time, because I just had so much fun with it, especially the level creator. Now looking at it, it looks like they borrowed some code from this game and implemented it into Mario maker, which is really cool!

Yo, I played this when I was young. I got that game because I really enjoyed Mini March Again (MvDK on the DSi) and Mini Land Mayhem (Second game on the normal DS). The way you controls the Mini-Marios were unexpectedly different to what I got used to, as you have much more control on them. I managed to beat the game at some point, and even 100% complete it! You may wonder how much I was annoyed by accidental Mini-Toy stopping and how much I had to endure it.
Now let's talk about the level editor : Oh boy I did spend soooo much time on this! It may have sucked that you are limited with the assets you can use because you have to choose a construction kit, but the special kits grants you alot of thing, especially special 3. Special kits also brings in the reason why Mini-Toad, Mini-Peach and Mini-DK exists in this game in the first place, as you'll be able to use them in those said kits.
I can't believe how a single, lonelly Goomba can bring me so much nostalgia!
Man, I wish to make a game with the same gameplay as the latest MvDK games, but with much more improvements (And some originality to make it an inspired/indie game rather than a fan-game, because... You know... Nintendo is Nintendo). I would also like to bring back assets from *EVERY* MvDK games + Amiibo Chalenge (OK maybe except the GBA game) so that the player's imagination can go absolutely wild when creating levels!

@@joshua9832 it’s fine if you think it’s good, but it’s a far cry from what made the series so great to begin with. Like I said, people are usually fine with change, as long as it’s a good change. Just look at super, which is easily the most different game in the series and is still considered one of the better ones.
This was like one of my first DS games and basically my introduction to the Mario Vs Donkey Kong series. Which led me to getting and playing the entire series

i had all the mini mario series when i was younger, i enjoyed them a hella lot!
I like how every other complaint is an obvious nod to how Mini-Land Mayhem does the same thing but better.
Don't know what my first game actually was in this genre, but I did grew up with the Mini Mario's, which I really loved. The game play was very good, I like how every theme of a world was visualized through concept and how it got people to get creative. Because I (still) have the original DS, I played the playstyle de Advance game had, which definitely had it's charm. I think Mario VS Donkey deserves its own video up to this day because of all the different playstyles it had. There's actually a lot to be said about it.
But that doesn't change the fact I really love doing the tricks as mario (2004), doing minigames from miniland Mayhem and playing created games I made for myself (just not other online created games X)

I only played the DSI shop "Minis March Again" and I gotta say glad I didn't have to physically guide the minis so much in that one
Pauline's ballistics are pretty intense, and it's very suspect that Mario still hangs out with her and Peach doesn't seem to care

Really wish we got more stages like those final boss stages. I will say so the main music in the first few levels so bloody catchy.

March of the Minis was alright, it's not bad, but it needed improvement, which Miniland Mayhem delivers for the most part.

There were twelve DLC levels made by Nintendo that you could download using the Receive function in this game.
I will say the stage creator is perhaps the best part of the game along with the secret boss battles.

I used to draw levels on graph paper when I was at school and then go home and make them in the level editor.

I played the DSiWare version of this game. It was essentially the same game in terms of mechanics and gimmicks.
It was basically an expansion pack of the original with new levels. Even kept the level editor.

I never actually grew up with march of the minis. I actually grew up with Mini's March Again. It was a DsiWare exclusive and I wanna say it's kind of like the lost levels but for Mario Vs Donkey Kong 2.

This was literally my childhood game. Was the only game in mario vs donkey kong that I had. Without the connection I think it would have been seen as fun as a standalone.

I got really confused because the Japanese title of the 2nd DS game can be interpreted as "March of the Minis" and the first DS game on the DS isn't called 2, but just Mario V DK with a subtitle that includes the word "mini land"
The first DS one is Mario VS DK Attack Mini Land, and the second one is Mario VS DK 2 Mini Mini March, if anyone is wondering.
I really hope that someday LonelyGoomba will do a review on Mario vs DK mini land mayhem.

This was my first ever game i’ve ever played, and I gotta say.
I loved this game as a kid, and I loved controlling the minis. I tried out mini land mayhem, but I hated how you can’t control the minis.

I enjoyed this game pretty well though it’s hard to go back to it once you’ve played the later Mario VS Donkey Kong entries.
I remember procrastinating at the first blooper enemy for 10 minutes then realizing you can avoid them by literally walking.
...which Mario vs. Donkey Kong games did I have? I only remember how they worked. The first one had the pink blocks, but you couldn't stop the minis once they started moving, and the second one had the girder, conveyor, ladder, pipes, springs and wide blocks. Can someone please help?
