top worst fanbase in history
Im them and id get a sponsoerd made in abys concert or what ever lol
teenage girls are scary man, just look at the female audience of Howl's Moving Castle. I've seen some things... 😨
he's not even watching the one we're watching. korea banned any controversial or s***ual scenes and any material in their country and every show, movie, book goes through extreme revision in the country. the rating for MIA is 15+ which means kids can watch it, but to take care of the bloody scenes from the fights. soobin hasn't even seen the entire uncut show and he's still not recommending it to people based on how scary the fights are in the show.

We live in a timeline where Anime Fans are defending Kpop idols, and Kpop stans are attacking their idols.
What happened
"The next BTS" spot opening up and Kpop fandoms frothing at the mouth to get their faves to that point.
Istg I thought I was living in another dimension..

@@Emgee78No because I’m a multi-Stan and BTS has been my ult-bias group since 2016, and I this is VERY MUCH TRUE. It’s so messed up what’s happening right now in the K-pop world. Like first the Seunghan controversy and now he MIGHT BE KICKED OUT OF HIS GROUP?!? And now people attacking Soonbin, Taeyong, Mingi AND Woozi?!? I’m seriously reconsidering why I’m still into kpop when toxic fans keep ruining everything… and I don’t want to say it… but most of the fans that I see taking down their “idols” have been Korean fans?!? Like you would think that Korean fans would be THE MOST supportive of their idols but they ARE LITERALLY THE MOST TOXIC AND VICIOUS RIGHT NOW?!? Like what is the world coming too. My one source of comfort right now, and the kpop world is turning into even more of a shitshow than it used to be. 🙄
🤣
As a 26 year old kpop stan, I think its fair to assume that most of the kpop stans trying to cancel these idols are either minors and/ or have never watched a single anime in their lives AND dont know how to differentiate fiction from reality because my time line was a hell hole for a whole 24 hours
Not just anime, sadly, because it started crossing into (like shown here, and what I saw through the meltdown that day) - any form of fiction (live action, book, manga, anime - etc) that had that sort of stuff. Majority of whom I saw (both in KPOP twt and anitwt) were all around the ages of young teens (as in just allowed to use twt unless they're younger than that) to young adults (low to mid 20s at most).
I was so glad that on my actual TL either people didn't know anything about it or were pissed that people couldn't separate fiction/reality (as you said).
i'm the same age as you and i agree. these kids would never have survived early 2000s/2010s anime lmao
They may be of age but they're mentally not stable, obsessive, irrational and most of all delusional. Though I'd like to think that most of them are still minors, teens or veeery young adults because if any of them are over 25 I have no hope for humanity, again...
trust me most of these people trying to cancel were just basically misandrists waiting for something more reasonable to hate men, they're girl group stans, ofc not all of them hate men but a good part of them does and they really awful things, even troll accounts took advantage of these situations, i think someone even might have got doxxed because they said they shouldn't be called pedos, it's really crazy, but the scandal started from korean fans of txt soobin who found something more reasonable to criticize him rather than for his recent scandal (doing the middle finger with his toes to another idol, on a private live that got leaked, also not recent) and then it got here
It’s nothing but hive mind behavior pure and simple
Trust as a kpop Stan this "controversy" was a joke and deep embarrassment within our community as well. Many kpop stans are anime fans as well, and many of us are adults.
The whole music is tailored to appeal to teenagers so I very much doubt there are much adults in the kpop fandom especially not on twitter.
@@somename86 There are many actually, and especially on Twitter. Also kpop music is vast genre of different styles.
@@somename86 then you haven't seen much kpop. there's music for all ages it's not just geared for teenagers. so yes there are a lot of adults as half of the idols ARE adults.
@@somename86you would be surprised tbh. Of cause you have your teenage demographic, but KPOP also finds a ringing by people in their twenties and even older. And being at 18+ kpop parties, looking at the people I meet @ concerts or interact with as often the youngest of the group (I’m 25) … kpop has a big adult audience. It’s a hella expensive hobby to have and you would drop dead knowing how much people are willing to spend. So it’s more likely to have fans with a stabile income what is something that most of us gain in their 20’s.
@@somename86? I am 30 year old kpop fan and I know soo many other +25 year old kpop fans. Not everyone who likes kpop are teenagers.
Kpop idols aren't allowed to like or dislike anything. Soobin is just a sweet guy
Not even a K-pop fan and I feel so bad that idols aren't allowed to be human.
Dude i didnt know k pop fans are this toxic
@@HenryNwanegbo Bro you have no ideia, they are one of the most toxic fandom that exists, death threats are the base insult they make
only haters are allowed to dislike
Mostly stems from fandom wars. I assure you that all Soobin fans think him liking MIA is fine. There are other groups fandoms that are trying to cancel him and the other boys so that their fave can rise to the top.@@HenryNwanegbo
My one idol friend has told me that on fan service apps/live streams where they interact with fans, they’re not allowed to talk about their favorite anime and it was wild to me lol. He specifically said he wasn’t allowed to let fans know his favorite anime is One Piece 💀
if he let his fans knows his favourite anime is One Piece, One piece will become a problematic anime because it involves female characters with unrealistic body proportions.. P.S. i'm being sarcastic btw..
I mean, admitting you are a One Piece fan is worse than admitting you did 9/11, nowadays P.S. i'm not being sarcastic btw..
You gotta spill the tea, who likes one piece? (from a kpop stan and a one piece fan)
Omg wait this is actually you, the 0 in the @ had me thrown💀
Exactly, imagine they talk about KNY, AOT, MHA, they will get cancelled I bet 😅.
As someone who started as a huge anime fan then moved to be a kpop stan I'm glad I'm not the only one who found this "scandal" to be absolutely dumb, some kpop fans need open their eyes and realize that watching an anime is no reason to cancel someone
They can't their brain are somewhere else
from what I've observed, a lot of the loud newer/younger kpop fans LOVE to act "holier than thou," ESPECIALLY when it comes to groups they don't like. there's this whole "my faves aren't problematic but yours are" thing going on, and it's continuously gotten worse over the years now that kpop isn't a niche interest. that word, "problematic," is thrown around _a LOT._ this just seems to be an extension of that. somebody didn't like TXT, so they found an interest of one of the members that could be seen as "problematic." somebody didn't like NCT so they found an interest of one of the members that could be seen as "problematic." and so on, and so on. there also seems to be a group of western kpop fans who _really_ want to prove that they themselves are just _so much better_ than the average Korean. like... so much more "woke," but they _think_ they mean the actually good version (i.e. "racism and homophobia are bad"), but they fall into the bad version (i.e. "liking a dark show makes YOU bad") by trying so hard to prove it. they _look_ for reasons to put themselves on a pedestal, so they continuously lower the bar for what is considered "problematic."
oh! I just remembered that I have a recent example of some kpop stans making up issues! there's a recent song by a male artist featuring a female artist that I was watching a lyric video of. there were only three commenters: two praising the song and congratulating the artists on a job well done, and one yelling at the video creator and the other two (both in direct replies and their own comment) to quit shipping the two artists. literally _nobody_ there was shipping them, and I have yet to see _anyone_ ship them. I replied basically telling them to knock it off, wondering if maybe there was one or two since-deleted comments shipping them that had set them off. but, in my youtube notification of their reply, their name was shown as "f*** [group name] and their stupid [fandom name]" and suddenly _it all made sense._ they're just the type of stan to do that sort of thing.
what you say is really interesting for me becuase in China, kpop stans are literally treated as one of the worst group in discussions, they act like they live around corner. maybe because Chinese people had known kpop for the past decades, so we all knew how dumb kpop could be
Yeah, not even just being morally righteous. There's def been a huge change in how kpop stans behave overall. Back when it wasn't as popular like 2nd gen, the fandom kept to themselves. They weren't trying to interact with other non-kpop fandoms or even think of spamming memes or videos of their fav idols. But like now fans will straight up go onto ppl's unrelated tweets or like tragedy posts and be like "should've stanned -KPOP band here-" or even photoshop memes or videos that honestly make the idol look horrible (like I think Loona had something similar. The group did nothing wrong, the fandom just made a meme where they seemed like a member had beef with a western artist idr) and I was like....outsiders are now gonna hate your group now why???? inside the fandom knew it was a meme but outsiders aren't gonna understand because it's obviously not outrageous enough to be like wow that'd never happen if they don't know that it's a kpop idol who has never met a western artist before.
I think the change in behavior was really lead by being influenced by unfortunately kind loud but weird older fans while the ones that are more logical and reasonable and not holier than thou with egos or seek out like being a popular fan amongst fans kind of kept to themselves or outgrew being in the kpop fandom and just enjoyed the music. Some kpop fans were always weird but like....the I remember when kpop idols used to visit CA and Disneyland and just got to be normal ppl in foreign countries. But now they can't go anywhere without being stalked and mobbed. We used to be like damn korean saesaeng/stalker fans are crazy and there was no real notable cases of such behaviors internationally in 2nd gen. But now it's like there's sasaengs everywhere.
It's a lot of the younger generation in general that is doing this. You'll see it a lot on twitter and other social media. They'll try and ruin anyone's lives for enjoying any piece of media that has any "problematic" type of content like loli (made in abyss) or incest (game of thrones), regardless of if said content is the main point of the show or game.
I am 28 and have been into K-pop on and off since 2012 and when I see kids doing stuff like this, it is ridiculous and pathetic to me. Most of these guys lack the ability to have a deeper understanding, because their brain hasn't been fully developed yet. When I see the younger generation of K-pop fans are loud and obnoxious, my reaction is mostly: y´all need to sit down! Your brain is fully developed until you are 26. And from what I have observed in the world in general, this is not only a K-pop issue. The younger generation in general is like this. When I see them calling out "problematic" issues, I just can't take it seriously.
Kpop fans act like they don't read/write the most NASTIEST fanfictions about the idols they stan...
Right
100%!!!! And they say themselves that “it’s just fiction”… Well you are reading/writing about REAL life people.
@@mi-000001000% correct. The hypocrisy is funny.
Fr
Twitter hasa lot of kpop smuts😭
Media literacy is dead. The skills necesary to separate reality from fiction are gone and this generation just can't grasp the concept that fictional stories are a medium to explore human imagination.
And the said people don't understand that imagination's correlation to reality can be so far differentiated that the topics cease even being the same topic altogether. But understanding psychology has always been worryingly low in the first place.
It's truly sad how this is allowed to take place. Basic media literacy shouldn't even be that hard, most people should naturally be able to intuit and work out basic media literacy even if they aren't taught in school, unless I'm just giving the average person way too much credit and intelligence here.
Exactly, and I think it shows a lack of emotional maturity.
Consuming darker, fictional media does not make you complicit in what the stories entail. Reminds me of the people who freaked out when Mortal Kombat first came out and tried to say video games cause violence.
@@ruidechenyeah probably too much credit
Exactly
Kpop fandom should have two divisions: 1. normal people, 2. those weirdos on twitter who caused this drama. I don't want to be associated with the second one just cause I listen to the music pls 😭
I agree with you 💯, I am a k pop fan myself. People need to leave these idols alone! Sure some anime/ manga are darker and more twisted than others, but these idols should not be attacked for enjoying something that other people do not enjoy.
Fans vs. Stans. I don’t know why the majority of the kpop fandom refer to them selves as Stans (identity) instead of a fan of something (a like for something /hobby)
@@hollo0o583 in the Kpop fandom the word 'stan' means the same thing as 'fan' unlike in any other case where its meaning describes obsessive fanning. Honestly I'm not interested in getting into it and finding out why is that, I've been in this fandom for 8 years and it's just always been the case. After a quick Google I see some people quoting Eminem's song which supposedly originated this idea but, again, I'm not interested in the term as much since the entire fandom gets what it means
@@hollo0o583 actually in the kpop stans community if you say you're a fan means you're a casual listener, probably enjoy the music or the content from time to time, but the stans are the ppl who know the names of the idols and always watch the content and comebacks, it takes a lot of time and energy (including going to concerts, collecting albums or photocards..etc.) i guess that's why ppl refer themselves as stan because it's slightly a bit more than just a fan. But in that means is not yet being a toxic stan, ppl who are overly and crazyly obsessed with the idols are called sasaengs or just toxic kpop stans ( stans who attack other communities for the slightest things or other fandoms and don't even respect their own favourite idols sometimes). That's how i understood it atleast. But just want to clarify just because we say we are kpop stans doesn't mean we're automatically the type of dumb toxic stan :).
I don't believe than normal people are in Kpop fandom.
As a moa (txt/soobin fan) I am proud to be a part of a fandom that did not jump to conclusions (most of the fans) and defended him (he did nothing wrong though). I just want to let you know that people who started this "controversy" did it purely out of hate and now they look so dumb for doing this.
As a multi Stan and anime fan with most of these idols as my biases. It was really painful to see the switch up but funny to see them talk about things they don't know about so confidently. They just wanted to attack these idols and used anything to achieve that

As a kpop Stan AND Anime fan I'm standing here shaking my head. THESE ACCUSATIONS ARE SO STUPID !?!?! Sorry to the idols omg
right like kpop as an industry is way worse than anime and it's happening to real people
Because many kpop fans are extremely woke.
They see anime as sexist
i dont think its wokeness... its twitter brain@@asdfghjjhgf
Same, it's these "controversies" is just so out of context dumb. But hey, it just made me wanna watch the made in abyss more because of how "provocative" they say
I feel like it's always the most extreme and deluded fans who are the loudest. Or maybe I just like to believe the majority realize it's none of their damn business and not a sign of depravity when guys in their 20s watch movies or anime that include more adult themes or scenes. It's confusing to me, would these same people get upset over idols watching action movies, which usually include violence and sex? Is MIA that out there?
As kpop fans, im glad there's still a lot of rational fans that find these "controversy" Dumb
It's beyond dumb but crazy people are always the loudest... It's very important to counter such people. People watch things like Spartacus: Blood and Sand or even Wrong Turn, Human Centipede but it's OK because only drawing are so evil that people have to be canceled... I personally dislike all of this stuff but I have many friends who watch gore stuff etc. and I learned to appreciate this stuff to some degree because in many ways it's like a sign of freedom and detector of bad actors and authoritarians (often mentally unstable people and some horrible dogmatic ideologies). So many people who like to hate anime at the same time will defend Cuties and other similar thing that involves real people - it's pure insanity... I'm older guy and I started watching anime few years ago just to escape from authoritarian propagandist cancelling insanity I saw everywhere...
i agree and for Soobin it was a translation error- he said he "would not recommend" and people got PISSED. it was ridiculous

I think the difference is that the art is not painting these things in a negative light. A lot of anime glorify sexual harrassment and sexualization of minors.
They pretend as if they put actual child p*rn on screen. Like it is a drawn naked child if you think that's provocative maybe look inwards.

Woozi is known, at least in our fandom, to love anime to the point that he held a 6-hour live just to list animes he’s watched over the years. Most Carats went to work with no sleep because the live pulled through to the morning. This controversy was an entire reach and an attempt to cancel the idols mentioned but most of us are thankful because this was a massive purge to the respective fandoms affected and helped flush most of the fakes out. The hypocrisy of these people like none of them even peeked at an episode of AOT. LOL.
so glad to have survived the massive fandom purge😭
What 6 hours listening to that I like 17 but not that extreme
Plus you need fans to pay for stuff so no pledis don't want purge
" Most Carats went to work with no sleep because the live pulled through to the morning" you know.....this is just further proof that k pop stans have no lives.
I actualy thinking someone want to put people on the list down from their popularity 🙃
The worst part is that Soobin and Mingi both said they wouldn’t recommend it to their fans because of the dark themes, and people straight up lied about it? They said they are pushing and recommending it on their fans
(Edit: it turns out, Woozi didn’t recommend it either, and taeyong had the censored version. This is exactly the reason I waited for awhile to form an opinion 😭 Things are often not as they seem at first.)
YES EXACTLY. I tried to tell my mutual he did not recommend it and they told me he did. It's obvious they didn't see the video - people are not even looking at the "receipts".
taeyong didn't even talk about it at all. it's just one of his shoes pic from 6 months ago, and the manga was there in the background💀

Kpop fans really treat idols like they are holy virgin mary oml (this is coming from a kpop fan). It’s like if idols see anything that is slightly sexual or grotesque that ruins the fans their image of them?? They’re not babies.
I agree with your comment but just wanted to comment how I really liked your last point. They’re not babies!! Unfortunately Kpop fans have this warped image of how people work lmao. They have forgotten that these idols are still human who also go through similar things as other human beings. They are allowed to be human beings ffs 😂!
Yea but this is controversial for pedophilia and rape
I like to say they 'infantalize' the idols, ESPECIALLY the grown men. It's really gross, actually, and I'm a kpop fan. It's like they see any sign of them having interest in the opposite gender and their hive-mind loses their shit, but if 'Oppa doesn't love me!!!' they'll LITERALLY self-harm. That's a whole different story.
It's pedophilic abomination
You know what's funny, these same fans will write and consume explicit fanfic using Idols who are real people and then get pressed over the exploitation of drawn fictional characters in anime. The stuff online written by fans about idols is honestly disgusting and creepy. They even write stuff about underage idols and play around with LGBTQ identities like it's a joke to them. Like these are characters and not real people. I actually gave up on K-pop because the fandoms are toxic and problematic. They act like they own these idols. On top of the disgusting work conditions and exploitative contract and toxic beauty standards in that industry, I can't support K-pop in good conscience.
Mingi is *BASED* for doubling down on saying its his ALL TIME FAVORITE 😭
Absolutely based
Honestly I'm lowkey sick of people just hating on idols for liking anime like they didn't grow up with it. Mingi is king. Y'all just gotta accept that.
As someone who loves kpop and anime, it's funny to me that these fans go after anything and calls it problematic but they support minors debuting in a predatory industry. It's wild to me how they see issues everywhere but their own fandom. I will say that the younger fans (as a whole) are becoming more and more puritanical. I really want to see studies and video essays years from now talking about how gen z/alpha swung too far into purity culture. It could just be issues with being chronically online, it could be the holier than thou attitude the younger gens seem to have. Idk but I promise we're all not like this lol
I will say its funny that most of them stopped talking once a girl group member was found to also support this show. There is a huge issue with boy group fans vs girl group fans online and I wish it would just stop. It's as stupid as fans vs fans.
That's actually a good point about minor idols. I DO see a lot of people complaining about that (generally speaking), but I doubt the ones that were screaming at THIS situation were the same that would also fall in line with what you said. I also was complaining about the purity-level and the need to cancel in another comment on this video and yeah. I completely agree with you.
I think it's sad that because the fandom is SO LARGE, the toxic ones are the loud ones, thus they're the ones that get seen. Doesn't help that they are of the incredibly violent level, too.
I have also found a lot of those that fall into that line of thinking are the 13-23 year olds...
I did NOT know that about the girl group member, though...
yes when sakura was caught saying she enjoys it they suddenly got real quiet lmaooo

Im in both kpoptwt and anitwt and I can give u a reason why I think this ridiculous arguement has blown out like this. Stan twt is a shit hole where people will do anything to find dirt to expose idols they hate. I am telling you this is absolutely zero about morals and 100% having something so they can cancel an idol and justify sending them hate. Usually cancelling an idol would involve actual crimes in korea like drugs or sex trafficking. Nowdays they just grab something with the slightest bit of gray moral and exaggerated in a way that's damning for the idol. This extreme moral policing and holier-than-thou attitute kpop stans have is not about actually believeing it's wrong but just to justify hate.
Thank you for giving contex
Exactly, they are just trying to "cancel them" or to ruin their images, like they do every single time they bring out rumors. It really sucks and it's so annoying
you could have stopped at "twt is a shit hole"
That's true, that's why I left kpop twt. There are also a lot of wholesome fans tho. In my case, shawols and carats were just two of the most peaceful and wholesome ones.
It took a member of a group I loved leaving the group because of some fake accusations by toxic fans for me to stop using kpop twt. It was so toxic. It was painful to see the same fans of the group abandoning him. The same fans put him down, never believing him. For us who supported him and only wanted the truth, we were the "toxic" ones. They believed some random user in the internet spreading lies about him than him. I stopped stanning the group after that cause it really broke me. The fandom until now pisses me off.
Twt does this to vtubers and random people too
as a kpop stan, i find this controversy so stupid
Your are correct bro
Half of the scandals in kpop is stopid.
As a normal person, I find the fact that you call yourself stan even while seeing how other people who call themselves stans act disturbing.
If you have to say "I'm a stan, but no not like them", why not just say you like kpop.
Nah you're a fan
Same
as a kpop fan who used to be BIG into anime/manga (i can only afford one expensive hobby at a time lol) this whole situation was blown out of proportion and incredibly stupid. no one ever takes 5 seconds to research or fact check before just posting it on twitter as fact 'cuz trust me bro' and then people just run with it. and it doesnt matter how many time this happens, people still do it. its SO annoying.
Honestly, this is not just a K-Pop stan issue. This is a current generation issue. Something about these youngsters being so out of touch with reality because they were in lockdown for two years.
They treat fictional characters like they’re real people, fighting for pixelated/2D rights and condemning anyone who dare enjoy the fictional characters as fictional. Meanwhile, they treat real people as if we’re fictional, throwing slurs and sui baits and perish/dox/non-con threats. It’s a whole mess that makes you wonder where tf did it go oh so wrong?
This “controversy” should never have happened. But all because some kids (and, embarrassingly enough, adults, usually younger) can’t be bothered to treat fiction as fiction and mind their own business about people’s preferences.
I see it a lot in people in their 20s as well. It's like an infection from social media. It's crazy how much the younger generations are pushing fascism and not realizing it.
I hate this world.
Oh, the 2024 fandom world is so wildly over sensitive, it's def a new gen issue. Doxxing/harassing over ships, characters, shows.. It is *mental*
Taking things out of context and making them bigger than they are is basically what kpop twt is all about
Nah, that's the internet as a whole
It starts with twt though or is mainly known for it
I blame the Western side
I think one of the main reasons why people kinda overreacted was because there was one massive tweet that was gaining popularity and it basically said, "Soobin/so and so watches a pedo anime, I'm done." followed with a screenshot of a very questionable moment from the anime out of context. I remember for three days straight a whole mess was on the TL, there were people saying he deserved to be drafted, others were fighting for Soobin, then anime fans got in the mix. I understand people's concern when it comes to things like this, but they definitely jumped the gun.
@@oberdamujigae I blame all the sides tbh, especially younger fans who still lack some critical thinking

RIght?? TXT is my favorite group and Made in Abyss is prob my second favorite anime, so like when I first heard he liked it I was like hell yeah! but wow the reactions and just reeeeaching to find something to cancel ppl here is insane
I am someone who hates anything "loli" or "shota". There are a few parts that did creep me out, but Made in Abyss is one of my favorite series ever. It is a very unique and emotional journey that is worth watching. You will cry your EYES out. I don't even know how to describe it in words that would do it justice, but trust me. Even though some parts are weird it is a masterpiece. You've never seen anything like it.
The fact that the cast is children is off-putting at times, but MiA wouldn't work if they were not children. There is a reason many horror movies have kids in them. It is a well established fact that using children in horror increases the unease and fear in adult viewers.
Me too.
As an anime watcher, I have my own dislikes when it comes to certain anime tropes and the way some shows portray minors provocatively just for the sake of fanservices and not actually in context with the storyline or attributing to the plot. I have issues with how p word tendencies of some fans are ignored or justified in the anime community.
But this whole thing is just ridiculous.
I bet this came up because Made in Abyss is sort of being talked about online now and kpop stans have to kpop stans and find controversy in every recent events in relations with the idols. Even if they have to backdate and dig out things from past livestreams and interviews. I love some kpop idols myself, but most of the time I wonder if Kpop stans really love their faves. Or are they so sadistic, they try to make life hell for their faves in every way they can?
That's my mine gripe with MIA, I hate loli/sho stuff, same with many incest in anime. I watch a lot of dark shows so it's not like I have a problem with mature content, as long its not glorifying or fetishizing stuff. I bet MIA is a great anime, but if it uses kids for fanservice I think I'll pass.
I cry and punch my pillow just thinking abt the girl who became a white whistle for mc oh my god why yyyyyyyyyyyyy
this controversy was so surreal. speaking as a taeyong biased 127 fan, my timeline was having a full-blown mental breakdown over this shit. seeing these people sobbing and having PANIC ATTACKS over an almost 30 year old man reading (or not reading, just having it laying around on his floor lol) mainstream manga and acting like he PERSONALLY wronged them shocked me. defending taeyong online wasn't enough, i needed a mortar. the funniest thing though was those posts like «he's never coming back from this» and «he's on his own now». i thought that people would forget this thing in two weeks, and now not even two weeks passed and people, who were calling him names, accusing him of terrible shit and telling him to leave the group are already back to loving him 😂 being a kpop stan is am embarrassment for real
Sadly the loudest k-pop fans tend to be the worst, and those who are respectful tend to be overshadowed by them, that's why we have such a terrible reputation. Idols Like Soobin tend to get into situations that get blown out of proportion, things get pulled out of context and they are expected to be perfect and only consume content that is clean. It's sad because none of them said that those scenes were okay they just mentioned the shows and people made assumptions.
I would say if not for Andrew Tate's stans and Donald Trump's die-hard stans, K-pop would be one of the worst fandoms out there.
I can say that pretty much 99% of nice and respectful kpop stans will not be seen by ppl. Not because there aren't any, but because it is just not worth it to spread positivity in that cesspit of a fandom. I have been in multiple arguments with people whose arguments have been 100% proven wrong by ACTUAL sources such as authorities, and they just disregard it entirely and will still continue hating on the person. It's because the fandom that the public sees are 3 types of people. Obsessive parasocials, minors who clearly don't have a developed brain and people who just hate for fun to get the fire started.
he's not even watching the one we're watching. korea banned any controversial or s***ual scenes and any material in their country and every show, movie, book goes through extreme revision in the country. the rating for MIA is 15+ which means kids can watch it, but to take care of the bloody scenes from the fights. soobin hasn't even seen the entire uncut show and he's still not recommending it to people based on how scary the fights are in the show. this entire thing was done by an anti fan who had to go watch the JAPANESE VERSION and screenshot two photos from there to make their article 'exposing' him. even koreans were shocked by the uncut scenes

Most of the kpop idols didn’t even said they recommend MIA… just said they recently watched it. Kpop stans really think they can control what idols can do in their life. The saesangs stalking their idols and cancel them for getting married is also horrendous. The stories that surrounds them is disgusting.
As a kpop fan let me tell you, a good portion of us are confused as to why people are going after idols for basically just watching tv (like we couldn't give less of a fuck wether what they watch is rated PG or not) is a very loud minority the ones criticising the idols.
I agree and have seen it for the past 10 years and I feel bad for the people cause they are human beings just doing their and “fans” are just strangers to them that enjoy their works or art but are so delusional and not normal at all. I hope they are ok cause I was so confused on this “scandal”. I don’t know why people have thick skull on know idol are human being and not something you can control into your beliefs or likings.

The word "fun" used in the article is a translation from the word "재미있다" which litterally means "fun", but in that context and in the Korean language, it means "enjoyable".
💀💀i was laughing when i saw the pannchoa post, i am still laughing. Kpop stans are so unserious.
kpop stans has brain damage
While I'm not fluent in Korean, Soobin used the verb 재미있다 which can be, and usually is, translated to mean "to be fun" but can also mean "to be interesting." Whether intentional or not (though I do have my own opinion) someone messed up the translation and made a bunch of foreign stans think that Soobin was calling the anime fun.
What confuses me is that by getting super upset at these idols, we are implying that its unacceptable to consume media that tell stories that are dark and disturbing AND that by consuming that media we are condoning the messed up things portrayed in the media. I am not an anime fan at all, but I am a kpop stan and have been for almost 10 years and I can say that the community is full of extremely young and naieve women most of whom have a huge heart towards suffering and have been trained by the internet to be hyper reactionary when it comes to being defensive over groups of vulnerable people. However, when you walk around with a hammer everything starts to look like a nail. It is sickening the number of adult men that prey on underage folks, that is an absolute fact. I think though we all agree that the consumption of media that contains graphic scenes and messed up premices doesn't necessarily mean that you condone that character or that behavior. While I have absolute compassion for those who feel the need to stay on alert from creeps it is not okay to call people disgusting names over what is, at its core, a nothing burger
As someone who's favourite anime is MIA, I will say that if I ever reccomend the anime, I will always give a heads up and warn about the more obscure scenes. That being said, made in abyss is a really well made anime. The character design, the animation, Kevin's osts, the overall world experience, the story... I have never been so amused and submerged in a story. This k-pop idols should be able to enjoy this beautifull work of art without any backlash.
The fact that people are calling him a pedophile now and saying they "won't forgive him" because of this stupid thing is so absurd, I feel so bad for Soobin, he only wanted to share something about his interests with his fans (as a TXT fan, we've long known he's an anime enthusiast) and this is what he gets in return... If I were him, I would feel genuinely betrayed
also one of antis' favorite arguments in this is that "the author is a pedophile, so by watching the show, you condone pedophilia" excuse me, I've had MIA on my "to watch" list for a long time and I had NEVER heard anything about the author of the manga before last Monday (when this blew up), how can they know if Soobin was even aware of any controversies surrounding the guy? But hey - any chance to defame a successful rival idol is good I guess! 🙄😠 Vile

@@liathelie8805 What's more interesting: the mangaka of MIA (Akihito Tsukushi) isn't even charged with pedophilia. It's another mangaka (his name is Kenya Suzuki who was charged in 2021). Hi, Korean American here. You're correct about the word "fun" being an awkward translation. The original word Soobin uses in that quote is a form of "재미있다" - which can mean "enjoyable" or "interesting." It's not exactly incorrect to translate it to "fun," but it oversimplifies the speaker's original intent based on context.

You know what’s insane? Lots of kpop idols and other celebrities have openly stated they like stuff like Squid Games or The Glory but they can’t handle their idols watching something equally disturbing just because it’s anime and it’s unfamiliar.
not to be that person but i would say made in abyss is a lot more disturbing let's be honest. if kids are a part of something horrible it's always worse.
Edit: Also I don’t think that people have a problem with traumatizing, messed up twisted stories in general. But rather the execution or inclusion of some forms of violence and shock factors, especially if kids are involved.
Also I think if I saw some random scene of squid game without context, just someone being dead, that wouldn’t disturb as much. Maybe seeing the minutes up to the death yeah. But I think anime can create images and visual horror in only pictures that live action hardly can achieve. I think seeing some and more scenes or pictures of made in abyss out of context and without knowing what it is would shock me to my core.
Those shows are just disturbing for different reasons. And I think both are very hard to stomach but one is just worse bc of animation, bc of kids and bc of scenes with kids that even in this story shouldn’t be there (and that is the real problem of those ppl).
@@cinnamonroll96 what makes Made in Abyss more disturbing besides the characters being kids? Also, personally, I could stomach stuff like Castlevania or Vinland Saga even though I couldn’t get through The Glory because even though the things like Castlevania are equally or more disturbing, my threshold for disturbing content in animated things is higher than live action.
@@kpopnimation I think that’s exactly it. The fact that these characters are kids make it more disturbing. I don’t know the glory. But squid games is about something disturbing, messed up and mentally just twisted. I still would say the things you see are just more disturbing for a lot of ppl. A lot more to stomach, bc of all the mind-destroying shit you watch, the gore and all this. And this in combination with kids going through it, makes the already very messed up shit even worse. I think you can’t just say what about it besides the characters being kids. It’s exactly that. They are kids. And some scenes just even if you make a show that wants to just destroy someone that watches it, and intends to disgust and all this, some things just don’t need to be there, especially with kids. Edit (to clarify): The show and story with the kids would have been just as creepy and messed up without some of these scenes.
Yes! For me Squid Game is disturbing and i don't understand the hype, the story can be easily find in japan's movie/anime/manga? I don't think this show has any groundbreaking story.

When my bf and I started dating, he really wanted me to watch Made In Abyss with him, because it’s his favorite anime. At that point in time, I had never heard of it so I was open to it, simply because it was something he said he loved. Before we watched it though, he said to me “Okay. I have to warn you. This anime can actually be pretty hard to watch. The fact that the main characters are kids makes it harder to watch rather than if they were adults or teenagers. Knowing that, do you still want to continue?” And then I had flashbacks to when I watched Higurashi and Elfen Lied and thought “As long as it’s not like those two, I think I’ll be good”

Not only is it absolutely ridiculous harassment by kpop Fans towards their own IDOLS, the Korean version of the anime is censored to an crazy degree, along with other anime’s!! It’s rating is 15+ in South Korea, and was even aired on television weekly so it’s appropriate for kids to watch. Also the word “provocative “ was auto translated during a live where he talked in full Korean. It doesn’t have the same meaning as it does in English, it’s meaning is more along the lines of “shocking/crazy”. I just wish people wouldn’t jump to insane conclusions and try to label idols something as serious as ped0 without doing proper research. Kpop "scandals" don't usually last long, and it's blowing over as you post this. Everyone moves onto the next outrage already. Especially when it's not even a real issue to begin with. As an older anime and kpop fan, I have to always remember that the loudest voices on kpop twitter are probably teenagers. Kpop fans have harness their collective powers for good before, it's also prone to go off the rails too. No doubt there many more kpop fans who also like anime (and understands anime) than those who are upset by this, and vast majority of kpop fans also don't buy into this scandal.

What's crazy is a lot of ppl grew up with their favorite series and continue liking their childhood favorites but uhhh anime characters don't age. So imagine as a middle schooler you had a crush on like a high school aged dude, that's fine because it's a crush. But then it's been several years and now you're an adult...."you're not allowed to like them anymore!" That literally doesn't make sense. Minors who are calling out adults for this just are too young to understand that'll happen to them too. And that's how they get shocked when they turn 20 and someone uses the same argument against them. Like....dude they're anime characters who can't get hurt. Majority of ppl who like anime characters aren't gonna chase a minor. It's just majority of mainstream mangas and animes main characters are still in school. (Ppl who obviously....like minors are different but you can tell if they're a weirdo or not)
Example: I literally thought Denki from CSM was gonna be revealed to be like 19+ like he went through a whole childhood with no education because that is tragic af and make him desiring to touch a boob, get a girlfriend, etc even sadder. But then they were like he's 16 and I was like.....oh. Still sad but 2% less tragic in my head.

You mean otaku bc a weeb is a koreaboo vers for people who love anime and Japanese culture
@@tokkigifs oh yea It completely slipped my mind
@@rhynochi bruh I get this so bad I started watching anime when I was 5, like these characters were older than me, now I'm older than most of them.
As a seasoned kpop stan and anime/manga enjoyer, the whole controversy is so stupid. The more kpop or even anime is exposed to the global audiences the more it'll attract the most ignorant psychotic people. No one will deny that the anime has some uncomfortable moments but its not the whole point of the story, and I've only seen the supposedly more graphic manga. They act like the media doesn't regularly sexualize minorities where the plot actually DOES revolve around sexualizing minorities.
The difference is that South Korea regulates the porn
Wait a minute, I’m a MOA (txt fan) and overall KPOP Stan and anime fan I didn’t know you made a video about soobin and other KPOP idols until now about this controversy and man some of these KPOP stans always jump to always cancel someone. These idols don’t deserve all the hate.
i’m a kpop stan and trust me we’re definitely not all like that. i personally am not really an anime fan, i’ve never watched anime or anything, but as soon as i heard about this “scandal” i just laughed. they’re calling these kpop idols weird and even “p3d0s” for watching a cartoon?? 😭 i did some research about that anime (unlike most of those people) and yeah it’s definitely not as bad as they make it out to be. those “cp” scenes are taken out of context and its clear that the anime does not revolve around that. also it’s made to be grotesque and gore so they make sense in that context. idk i hate kpop stans and i’m definitely ashamed of being associated with them
Correction: You're a Kpop *enjoyer* 🗿
I'm anime lovers. I mean I like anime a lot and I do like kpop. I'm happy when kpop idols gave their favourite anime and recommendation. I'm very happy when my bias have the same interest in anime that I like. I feel like wanting to meet them and talk about that particular anime they like 😂
FR I WAS DEFENDING SOOBIN FOR MY LIFE
nah dont call my life a cartoon 😭
@@I.disagree you can be a stan and not be a toxic person wanting to ruin people's lives and careers. Don't dictate how this person refers to their self.
Joey saying that Soobin is cute... good taste, man. And thanks for this! The fandom was down for a while as this is a baffling situation. Thanks for pointing out how unserious this is and that how it grew out of proportions when Soobin (and other male idols, including Sakura from Le Ssera) was just sharing what they watched.
It's been a couple of years since I last had any involvement with the kpop community, so I think I'm fine with being referred to as an ex-kpop fan. I want to share my perspective on things.
First of all, the kpop community definitely appeals to two target audiences: teenagers/young adults and lonely people. This is a fact, no matter how much kpop stans might deny it. The community attracts you because you want a place to belong, to connect with someone and they're amazing at it. That's why they can get their favorite artists on the top of the charts within a couple of hours of a song release, and it's the same reason many of them can destroy an artists reputation/career within a day over an unimportant situation like this. It's simply the hive-mind behavior.
I'm happy to have left the community because only now do I see how obsessive online interactions fans have with their idols are - which, back when i used to be a part of the community, seemed valid and absolutely within the realms of expectations and saw nothing wrong with it.
If someone wishes to debate me on this in the comments, feel free to do so but this is my perspective and my experience. I'm not erasing all the good work the kpop community has done over the years, but people in this community should ask themselves why the rest of the world percieves them to be obsessive, and frankly, fears the community.
6:36 i think its because soobin has been in some slightly hot water these past weeks anyways leading people that dislike soobin to dig for things they can pile onto his controversy
Could be wrong tho
Thank you Joey and all anime fans who came to Soobin’s defenses! TT

I’m a Kpop fan. I’m an anime fan. I’m a TXT fan. They are Kpop artists and are also adults (all Idols mentioned in article are over the age of 18). They are allowed to have tastes that are different than your own. I also find this ridiculous. Thanks for covering this. It needs to be said.
I respect you as a person now, most people don’t even say things like this so it’s kinda reassuring to see this comment in particular
I mean it's very understandable? There is like a ongoing joke in the MiA community that Akihito Tsukushi needs to hurry up and finish his story before he gets caught by the police and gets jailed. Even anime fans are like weirded out by certain scenes in MiA.
To give a little context as to why it’s now a problem. It’s basically K-Pop Stan 101. Soobin was linked to a controversy earlier this month, so stans do what they always do, they go back and analyze everything that person has ever done and said to find new ammunition for those never ending fan wars. That’s why some individuals dug this clip up and fabricated this entire controversy around it. Idols barely talk about animes they like so for someone to even give that elite of a recommendation… I remember reading about it on X last year and thinking “yeep that’s my boy”.
just a reminder, that article has a lot of mistranslation. woozi NEVER recommended made in abyss and he listed it as something he watched during A WORLD TOUR. what makes it worse is that this live happened a year ago. and additionally, korea's censorship of media pretty much removed all the weirder scenes in the anime since they are strict with content.
It doesn’t matter if he recommended it or not lol. You people need to get a life
@@mookiestewart3776 it really doesn't lol. the whole thing is when the kpop industry has and continue to have problems with exploitation of children yet this is the thing that they made a big deal of.
@@mookiestewart3776 Oh shut up.
It actually didn’t remove most of these scenes, it’s something fans made up to save their asses. Not that they need saving, but it was the intend behind it.
@@HopeeInkit depends cause where'd you get that info? (Genuine question). For example, in China some games aren't available for them due to censorship (unrelevant to anime but what I know), so they make games available for all audiences. Such as idv (what I play) is like the "safe" game version of dead by daylight (which is goresome). So yes, in some countries, censorship does exist unless you play or watch it in a specific website to expose you to the whole thing.
As a kpop stan myself, I feel embarrassed. You know it’s ridiculous if the situation reaches the TH-cam commentary side. But while I would like to defend the guys more, their stans tried dragging my favorite group, who has nothing to do with this, into this situation. Nobody’s safe when it comes to kpop stans.
As a manga reader and a kpop stan all this controversy did was tell me that Taeyong has good taste. One Piece, Made in Abyss, AND Berserk??? that's my goat 😭🙏
as a kpop stan I was spending so much energy defending these idols throughout the whole situation 😭
It kills me how kpop idols are still being treated like babies.
Of course Soobin understands the provocative and "controversial" parts of Made in Abyss, he even says he DOESN'T recommend it.
Idk what more fans want. 💀
I'm both a Kpop stan and an anime fan. I feel embarassed that this is how the kpop community is now. Everyone should be able to love what they want and also Made in Abyss has a lot more story to it if they sat there and actually watched it or read about it
"Killing stalking? Not even koreans are safe from this. You're going after your own kind..." that sentence was just so funny and accurate hahaha i'm glad that you got to talk about that stupid drama bcs some fans are just so obsessive and toxic, that they treating their idols like perfect dolls or some shit. Some people (and there's a lot) forgets that idols are also humans and can watch whatever they like. "My idol like's anime? It's Made In Abyss? AWESOME i'm stanning the right person."- that is what they should be saying lol
honestly.. i kinda understand this. my bf hardly watched anime until me and then we watched higurashi, my fav horror.. unfortunately he wanted to watch all of them which i haven't seen all.. and it gradually got more and more disturbing with depicting minor characters in extremely sexual poses and stuff and he just got very sickened by it. its sad they ruined their own masterpiece with criminal degeneracy.. very very uncalled for
Higurashi is so good compared to made in abyss. You have great taste
@@Revealingstorm. thank you! I've never got around to watching made in abyss yet however higurashi I've been a fan of for a long long time ever since seeing one of those old amvs when they were popular back in the day
What's even crazier is that Made In Abyss in Korea is censored to the point where it has 15+ rating and was even BROADCASTED on National Television. And regardless of the censorship do these people believe a country is gonna be airing "pedOphilic" content on national tv for everyone and their kids to see?? Idk but some people really gotta watch what they say instead of throwing out serious allegations against people that ruin their image and going as far as sending dts, creating inappropriate AI images of idols, and just spreading misinformation,, like it's honestly really scary how some of these ppl feel entitled to other people's lives and very concerning.
As a kpop fan who's directly in the fandom of the main idol getting dragged, i can confirm that they were doing this just to cancel him and the anime was taken SO out of context i'm embarrassed
never heard abt this anime (bc i actually dont watch anime hehe), since i know how the internet works before believing in a tweet i went to search abt this show... i got curious and now im watching it (kinda liking, not gonna lie), this was basically people wanting to have motives to sh1t on others, i saw fan accounts that used to say they were fans of them but they were wishing their "favs" d4ath and hiatus,, i got overwhelmed fr. Those idols are never gonna talk abt what they like ever again
its not just kpop, there is a weirdly puritanical / purity culture movement in younger fandoms it is very weird.
As a normal well adjusted K-pop fan, this controversy is 1000% giga stupid and it's honestly just embarrassing, even had a big smile on my face seeing Made in Abyss was trending thinking it's getting the praise it deserves. But oh boy did that smile fade in an instant. Like seeing that one thread being spread around making Made in Abyss look like some sort of kiddy gore fetish porn made me wanna pull my hair out.
As a kpop stan myself I can confirm that the majority of kpop stans have the habit of jumping into conclusions and throwing around serious accusations way too casually as a big gotcha moment without ever doing their own research or knowing anything about the topic, it's embarrassing. There were few of us trying to talk sense into these people but it was so wild and frustrating how they'd made up their mind and wouldn't listen to reason. Sometimes the worst enemy of the kpop idols are their own fans.
💯it makes my blood boil how they don’t understand why you don’t get to throw such accusations around
Not only for the poor K-pop idols that can get kicked out of their group cuz this sh*t can blow up & get out of hand for no reason reach the public even & suddenly soobin is p3do these Stan’s never learn this can’t be controlled
But also it waters down these actual crimes
The media literacy compression is dead in this crowd
It's the obsession with purity culture for me
I’m so glad you made this video Joey some people are just crazy to the point they’re stupid, they try to find anything to shit on idols
soobin rarely gets into drama so for this to be what he gets flack for is crazy. Also, free my man Taeyong who literally didn’t even talk about the anime, it was just in a photo?!😭 kpop ‘controversies’ are always being blown out of proportion by netizens out of complete boredom- like they need to get a job challenge
For all we know he got that as a present from someone who remembered he was into anime and was like "Looks cute maybe he'll like this."
Mad props to the anime community for coming together and defending these kpop idols, i always herd how bad kpop stans can be but this is just another level, that list aswell is wack.
And the fact that those morons attacked the most unproblematic famous idol, like soobin is well loved, even by other celebs. They adore him, while they turning the other way with problematic idols is crazy.
It's hilarious how HxH, AoT and Girls Last Tour etc. just caught all these stray bullets for absolutely no reason xD
I'm currently watching this horseshit from the sidelines , having loved Kpop for about 5 yrs or sth, and me and my friends have discussed just today that us international fans do tend to churn out the classic "tiktok cringe 12 yr old" stans like once in a blue moon, but when I tell you what kind of horrible fucking people most Korean and Twitter fans are, you'll understand quite quickly what an overconcentrated minority is responsible for this. Idk man
@@user-mAfuNqrSe020xExactly, they attacked the most unproblematic, smart and sweetest idol possible lol
I think it's not kpop stan but twitter in general, twitter was mad when they discovered Berserk before
as a kpop stan, i aviod twitter and other simmerla socials, a kpop idol/group is being cancled everyday and it was just to toxic for me. I'm much happier and just enjoy going to concerts and buying merch when i can afford it.
Don't get me wrong, MiA is awesome, great storytelling, great animation, the first opening song? Cheff's kiss 😘
BUT, I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel weirded out watching it. Especially the 3rd Movie and the 2nd season like... 🤨
the movie was questionable 💀... but i think its intended as this stuff does happen in real life
