Housework is still work too. If he’s a good husband who takes care of their children and wives and everyone is happy with the situation I don’t see anything wrong with it. He’s not “the boss” of these women, he doesn’t need to assert dominance over them, nor is he “mooching off” of them if he’s taking care of the house and children while the women work, or is that just how men see housewives in general? That might be a very simple explanation as to why birth rates are declining lol. People who are housemakers should be valued more.

Well if you think about it them pooling their resources together will actually allow them to live quite well. They have a free housekeeper who loves them, they dont really have to worry about expenses since its split between each other, which means that they can save more personally to spend on what they want. Hell if they bought the house then they would only have to pay tax and utilities which means their expenses would be way lower than if they were to be in a monogamous relationship. Only issue I see is if they end up getting “bored” of their situation. But having 3+ people to rely on for anything is a great deal overall.

That’s not for anyone who actually wants to bond with their partner though. You’re living in a group where nobody is especially close to you. You’re just collaborating.

Polygamy/Polygyny was a thing in most cultures prior to the spread of Christianity. And there is a reason for that. A lot of men died in wars, so the excess of women had to reproduce. Another reason is that powerful men had the ability to have harems.
The entire reason for the spread of male monogamy is Christianity. (female monogamy was enforced by almost every culture in history).

Also I think a men that has 3 or 5 women should stick with 2 or 3 kids limit with all the women he has kids with. As for these Monogamous couples that should go for the 4 kids limit instead 1 or 2 kids than that could help Japan's birthrate and the same just apply to South Korea!

For anyone who doesn't know or remember there is a reality show on TLC here in the US called Sister Wives about a guy married to 4 women with 17 kids. I've never watched it, I only saw commercials for it and wondered how crazy it seemed. There was also a show on HBO called Big Love that was about a man married to 3 or 4 women, I didn't watch that either as I was never interested. Ryuta seems like he would get a show on TLC here in the US since they will make reality show out of anything. As long as the kids are loved and taken care of and the wives get along I don't see anything wrong with this. I just wonder how he plans to provide for 54 kids and make sure none of them feel neglected if he actually gets to that many kids with so many women.

Honestly, as someone who had been in poly-relations before, I gotta say I have a lot of respect for all people involved in this for making this work. Polygamy is something that takes crazy amount of communication and understanding to ensure that no one feels left out or uncomfortable or forced into something they don't want, and even more for when children gets involved. Is he a crazy for wanting 50+ kids? Yes, but hey at least he seem to take responsibility for them and (from the article) it sounds like he takes on a stay-at-home dad role more than anything.
