    Hi Adriana! I've come across your videos and wanted to ask a question. lets say you're stepping into the role of PM for the first time, my unit already has projects they are working and the current situation is that I was selected to essentially take over and replace the current PM, some insight that might be worth mentioning is that I'm the middle man between my bosses and coworkers and than my bosses bosses. they've already told me the projects will remain the same but I was just curious what you might recommend or suggest as I step into this world.

    Wow thank you for the tips. Do I have to get a certification?

    • @AdrianaGirdler
      @AdrianaGirdler  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Entry level roles don't necessarily require a certification, but if you are looking into Project Management then taking a course would be recommended. I do have a course that I think would be of benefit to you. It's called SLAY Project Management. In this course I walk you through the entire project process from start to finish to make sure you know exactly how to manage your project. It also includes all the templates you will need to keep you on track with your projects! You will also have access to the SLAY Project Management Facebook group where you can ask questions and share your wins with other Slayers! Here is the link to check it out adrianagirdler.thinkific.com/courses/slaypm

      There are so many different software tools out there for PM's it really comes down to preference or what tool companies choose to use that works best for them. Having said that having a solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Sharepoint are 2 software tools that I would highly recommend you are familiar with. Thank for watching, cheers!

    This is really helpful. I am an engineer working on projects from start to finish (in engineering consulting) and as you said those in the early stages of their career are focusing on execution rather than the project management of the project. Could you possibly discuss more on how people like me can get from engineering into project management roles?

      Hi @akankshapatel-ht3cy. Check out this other video I have on PM entry level roles. You may also want to check out my course SLAY Project Management, the only on-line program that teaches you the PRACTICAL side of project management. SLAY PM will guide you step-by-step on HOW to successfully run a project from start to finish and provides you with all the templates and tips you need to be successful. Make SLAY PM your go-to reference for all your PM needs. adrianagirdler.thinkific.com/courses/slaypm

    A construction project manager isn't that similar to other industries though... this is because a construction project is a construction SITE, its not just a collection of internal processes/procedures/tasks with a start and finish date. The level of knowkedge required to be responsible for an entire constuction site counts on the individual having at least 15 years of experience. This is why a 15-year journeyman electrician isn't just a natural pivot into construction project management, it is usually the standard -- it is required to be a master tradesworker or Engineer. Project manager in construction is one of the most senior roles in a construction company where your job is essenuiall to prevent the company from getting sued, and preventing installations from failing, and creating injuries/deaths or major financial losses. And you usually have other high-level positions wirkikg under you. This is also why project managers in other industries are confused why they can't get an interview in the construction industy PM positions. They don't realize the careers happen to have the same name, but in construction its a very heavy, top level role responsible for a site.
