    Good video. As a guy who specifically avoids laces, unless running/exercising whereby I wear sneakers, Chelseas and moccasins are a must. The former are practical in the cooler months, while the latter are stylishly cool and casual. Unless formality expects it, in which case I'd wear Oxfords or brogues, why bother wasting time tying and untying shoelaces when you can simply slip your feet in and out? I also wear penny loafers, with the tassel loafer being my all time favorite.

    Thanks, Ashley. Most of my shoes are lace up dress boots and I wear them year round. Always ALWAYS store your dress boots with cedar wood shoe trees. Ain't no way going around that. And try not to wear the same shoes/boots more than two days in a row. Let 'em rest with the shoe trees in them and you'll get serious mileage out of them.

    Ashley, you made a comment about Cowboy Boots being a fashion no-no, but with the popularity of Yellowstone and alike, I would like to see you do a western style video incorporating boots, jeans etc…. I think it would be a challenge for you to incorporate this styling and I would love to watch it!! Love your videos, Best Wishes!!!

    These are awesome and comfy shoes: "Dockers Men's Parkway" casual oxford with non-obvious rubber soles (I sport the black ones)
    Not pricey, not shiny, not stiff. Great with my dark wash 514 or 541 jeans.

    Biggest issue I have is sweaty feet when it comes to almost all boots. I’m good until around lunchtime and then I have to take them off for an hour. Any suggestions? I believe I’ve tried almost all sock types. Dress socks are the best but still results in hot feet by noon. Slip on dress shoes or breathable athletic shoes with a foam-like body are the only shoes that don’t make me sweat.

    Agreed about Chelsea boots and heavier guys (me). I have a pair of Chelsea boots and I rarely wear them (instinct told me, no) and I'm not about to wear skinny jeans anyway. They've been sitting on my shoe rack for 10 years now. Not likely to lose weight soon so might just dump them. For me they were more about dressing like Paul, George and Ringo and I am totally over that, so sayonara C boots.

    I live in the rural midwest. If you don’t wear cowboy boots or work boots around here you’re usually wearing sneakers. And people make comments about your footwear if you wear anything outside of that. Usually disparaging ones. Wearing a loafer in any occasion here is usually looked down on. I hate it here.

  • @maxoggle11
    @maxoggle11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think suede derbys are my first pick, you can dress them up or down. I have some miinimalist trainers and these also work well in the summer as the laces make them adjustable. I find the minimalist runner profile more comfotable than the tennis shoe type. I prefer monk straps to loafers as the elastic in them makes them more comfortable than loafers or driving mocs. Driving mocs with the knobly bits on the sole wear out quickly so I've heard. I wouldn't turn up my trousers or wear no show socks. Traners with a gum sole and ones with less contrast between the sole and upper draw less attention. Off white is better than white and suede in traners is more suitable as they are basically casual. And my final bit of of advice is if you're going to spend a bit buy from a company that has some history in shoemaking. My personal favourite is Loake. And don't care what women think because who you are is way more important than your clothes or footwear.

I would mention though, Pebble Grain isn't as durable as Full Grain because it's sanded down as a corrected grain and then stamped with the pebble imprint. It is still much more durable than vegan garbage or cheap "man made" materials.

    • @FireHawkISA
      @FireHawkISA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I remember correctly, she isn't a fan of bit loafers, the type of loafer with a metal bar on them, since they tend to be a little flashy.
      I personally think that if you go for a pair of bit loafers, you have to go for driving mocs. The more casual aesthetic lends itself to a little bit of foot-jewelry 😂
      That being said, there are ones with rope as a front piece, leather decorative elements, bits (as in horse bits), or other options. If it's a statement piece for you, wear it like one 👍 I wore a pair of red suede bit drivers for the past few years and beat the hell out of them.

    • @murrayisarobot
      @murrayisarobot ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are a bit of a statement compared to other boots, especially with the yellow stitch that really stands out and screams "these are DMs". But whether they work or not really depends on a lot of other factors like the rest of your personal style, what you intend to wear them with, also body shape etc. Go try a pair on and if you like them, why not. If not, try Solovair - they used to manufacture the DM Made In England boots but now they are their own company. They look similar to DMs but a little bit less of a statement, might be a better option for you.

      Sneakers can be very practical and a great value. I own two pairs of minimal sneakers (black, gray) for that reason.
      When I head downtown, however, it becomes clear that sneakers don't meet the dress code (whether it's a written or unwritten dress code) in many of the offices.
      The more versatile my shoe is, the more practical it becomes, and the better the value. Since I cannot wear my sneakers to the office, they're less practical and have less value than the did during 2020 and 2021 when I was working from home.
      As a final point, this is a channel for people who wish to look more stylish than "most people." An easy way to do that is to dress one level above them. So if everyone is wearing sneakers, loafers are one level above that (so are chukkas, lace-up boots, and suede Chelsea boots).
