hahaha that sponsorship, if you're gonna do this kinda stuff for sponsors i dont think people will mind, making it a fun segment rather than the boring readings most youtubers do.
Tyrion is scary. I stormed his gates with two shaggoths and for a quick moment I forgot he's in there and assumed it's a generic lord. He butchered that shaggoth in seconds and I noticed just in time to get the other one the hell out of there.
On Teclis: he boosts his army via magic passives. Pretty much constant weakness to fire on enemies, healing and save on friendly troops, etc. He also saves units slots. You pretty much just need Teclis plus replenishment hero, so you can have more damage dealing troops. He may be more valuable than 6/10 as an army commander.
Yep. He is my favorite HE lord, and the trick to him is having his army be rather low on the micro-intesivity scale. In order to best use the strengths as well and playability of Teclis, I got him 8x Phoenix Guard 8x Sisters of Avelorn, 2x Star Dragon and I believe 1x Eagle Claw Bolt Thrower (or something along these lines). You want a big, long, immovable defensive line so he can make ideal use of his Fiery Convocation in particular, as well as other dmg dealing spells. Every time he casts, all enemies get 22% fire vulnerability for like 17 seconds, which means 22% extra damage for all Sisters of Avelorn, basically permanently, since he just about never stops casting. Dragons and artillery are there for strategic and tactical versatility and flexibility - sometimes you just gotta shoot some far-away shit or snipe a character etc. Teclis´ passive magical buffs are pretty massive when added up, especially since they can be more or less constant - which is exactly why your army must be manageable enough for you to be able to micro Teclis much of the time. Hope this helps someone :)
@@Riwillion once he's leveled up enough, I send him around with just a handful of Resilient Loremasters of Hoeth. Sometimes I feel that for him an army (especially one mainly comprised of infantry) tends to be more hindrance than asset, because they can have the army losses inflicted on him before he's made proper use of all his magic XD
Teclis does more to boost his army via all the spellcasting passives. Sisters do fire damage for example and that works very well with kindleflame especially since he can keep it up all the time with enough winds.
That's a fair point. However, considering the tiers of the units and other stuff with teclis, would you not rahter go phenixes, making the point more theoretical? I'm unsure here, as I have yet to play him, or any high elves, on legendary.
Imrik got short shrift in this review. I think he may be the most powerful Legendary Lord in the entire game. One of Imrik's best abilities does not show up on his skill tree. The five elite dragons that Imrik captures cost zero gold to recruit from the Regiments of Renown. Also, when you disband them, they return to the Regiments of Renown queue the VERY NEXT TURN. This means that you have a five dragon roving goon squad that you can constantly shift around to any lord on the map turn after turn for no gold. Also, when you disband the dragons, they heal themselves fully over the "end turn" so they are always fresh. This is a huge faction buff. It allows you to put down rebellions easily, as all you have to do is recruit a single lord, then you add two dragons to him (at no cost) and put down the rebellion with the lord and two dragons. Disband the dragons immediately after, and the dragons cost you nothing, and are available the next turn for use somewhere else. You can respond to unexpected enemy incursions in the same way. Just recruit a lord, and add five elite dragons to his stack. I don't know of any faction buff that is more powerful than a no-cost, five dragon buff. The powerful purple items you get from the dragons are also extremely useful. The Vine Armor you receive from the Life Dragon is a giant Net Of Amantok. Give it to one of your dragon mounted mages, and it traps a big chunk of enemy warriors, leaving them vulnerable to bombardment by spells or artillery. The "Shooting Star" enchanted item gives 20% ward save and the bound spell, chain lightning. As for Imrik himself, I think he is uniquely designed for using the Sword of Khaine. Imrik with the Sword of Khaine is a literally unkillable one man army. He's on a dragon, so he can get anywhere on the battlefield easily. His regeneration, Armor of Caledor, resistance, and the + ward save items mean that he can literally sit in the middle of a huge enemy scrum and shrug off the damage. He has the bound spell that gives him piercing bolts of burning, and his Shooting Star enchanted item gives him chain lightning, so he can damage the enemy with AOE while they blob up and fight him. Knights of Caledor can manage the Sword of Khaine's downsides, as their main money making buildings also provide public order, and they can use influence to maintain good relations with important factions.
Not only Imrik gets a bit of a short stick here. eltharion and Alith Anar with their respective faction abilities should get quite some extra points for them, which would be better represented by an additional catagory for faction leader skills, imho, as pointed out in my own comment ^^.
Imrik’s strength only works on low difficulty or if you’re running “no extra upkeep” “extra skill points” or “no great power” cheats. The dragons are a Calador mechanic so they don’t apply here. Even still, playing as Calador, getting dragons is very slow on harder difficulties as you have to be defensible (which is hard). On legendary, Imrik’s campaign is the most difficult of any high elf. His late game is very strong due to an instant doomstack, but it’s not that much use as all his objectives are in the south, so you don’t have much moving around to do. He’s strong late game but so are all legendary lords. If you’re losing your main stack and need to raise it again then you’re doing something wrong
LoTW doesn't take into consideration Faction exclusive mechanics here, that's why nor Nagarythe ambush nor Yvresse's interrogation is in Alith nor Eltharion section. The idea is to know the value of every lord on his own.
The main reason people want army select screen to change lol. There are dozens of LLs in the game but we always have to listen to Tyrion's bravado first. What an arrogant asshole.
Thing about tyrion being so good is that his faction wide buffs are so insane that they outweigh the army buffs. His public order buffs are insane as well as militarily. I would argue he is better than some Lords who are 10/10
I'm halfway through a teclis campaign, conquering half the map. He's my favourite High elf lord so far, purely for the chain lightning spam. It costs 6 wom each, and he starts off with about 240 winds of magic each battle by end game (often more). Plus on his phoenix he's almost invincible with all the resistances he gets. Having said that I enjoy all the high elf lords. They are all OP, and OP is fun.
This is entertainment ! This is informative ! This is how it must be done : creativity, honest opinions as usual (LL + Perfect Package) , sense of humor.
Dont think it makes much sense as TK is based on their lords carrying their trash armies until you get constructs. All TK LL are insanely powerful 1 man army with huge bonuses with the exception of khalida who unlike the other 3 gets the easiest start due to bonus ammo for skellie bois and arty which will carry you early game .
@@alpacaherder5680 Settra gives up to +5 public order factionwide, which is really good for a faction that has a poor public order building, bad economy, and more competition for build slots than others.
@@AshenVictor yes and? arkhan gets to be a 1man army on his own with his spellcasting and has a way better starting pos than settra whos sorrounded by enemies all side and it's not like you won't reach the state where you just roll over the map with all the constructs. Also PO building is pretty important regardless due to untainted. Dont get me wrong, Settra's +5 PO is REALLY good but other TK lords have pretty neat stuff too.
@@alpacaherder5680 Sadly Arkhan is a Lore of Death caster, which is one of the less valuable lores, and he's not even a loremaster of it, Meanwhile he doesn't get a lot of factionwide bonuses, though more Liche Priests is good (Khatep gets more than him though) and his army buffs are concentrated in his Vampire Counts units which are meh. Settra isn't just giving you Public Order, he gives you that and +2 to four different unit caps, +2 to Tomb Princes and +6 to their recruit rank, two buff auras from skills and items as well as loads of buffs to Tomb Guard giving him a really solid infantry wall, and he's also a one man army between his warkitty and lots of ways to add resistances and healing. All the Tomb Kings lords are good, but I think Settra is on top due to having the full spectrum of faction, army, and personal combat ability.
T5 unit that belong at T3. Well, uh, Imrik does kind of have them at T3 in ME. And you forgot to mention that Sisters of Avelorn also get +20% damage from Imrik's Ashen Fields.
That's not how ashen fields works, it's literally bugged to do nothing and no patch or beta has fixed it. The community bugfix mod fixed it to strip fire resist but uh there's not exactly a surplus of fire resist units in the game....
You want dragons in Imrik's army anyway, so i guess it (bugged or not) is really not that important. Like you can go sisters spam, but you can have a Punitive lord with them and leave Imrik with his good boys tho
@@toggle3927 Yes but if a unit is 0% fire resist it will take them to -20% fire resist, no? Which isn't a direct 20% damage increase for units with fire damage but an increase none the less.
@@haeZen Ashen Fields does not 1. Reduce fire resistance of for example irondrakes from 70 to 50 or 2. reduce fire resistance from 0 to -20 (fire resistance is the only resistance that can go negative).
"giving him all the spells from those winds of magic would be crazy" there is a mod for that, of course. Might not be balanced, but it is fun. Him and Mazdamundi get all the "standard" lores + High Magic.
The mod I use only gives them half the winds. Picking light locks out shadow for example. The thing with giving him extra lores is that there are not enough skill points, so I feel like that was why he was so limited.
I mean, walls are nice incase of a surprise attack on your homefront, call me paranoid or an imperial fist or even an iron warrior, but i *ALWAYS* have walls in my settlements with no exceptions, so being able to essentially instantly build walls is pretty nice for me
I feel like you give way too many lords 10/10 battle power. Teclis and Imrik just seem to be way better than Eltharrion and definitely more than 2 points better than alith anar
I do not think it is about level of strength, but if they are strong enough to get the job done. They are not going to be fighting one another, and if used correctly they will get similar results.
I found Eltharrion starts weak but scaled pretty well and is very versatile - he's a highly mobile spellcaster who's capable of tanking, lord/hero/artillery sniping or just getting stuck in, either on the front line or AS the front line. Not being on a Dragon like Imrik also makes him a better choice for blobbing up enemy units to slaughter with arrows (a really common tactic for HE and definitely one of their more effective ones) as his dramatically smaller model size means he'll take less friendly fire and it's easier for archers to hit the units behind him (if you try the same thing with Imrik, his dragon will generally block that in it's immediate area). I can't say I'd rate Alith anywhere near those three though, unless you factor in the ambush ability you get starting as him, which is definitely a huge buff to battle power. But, on the other hand, Alith is also one of the only LL's in the game capable of consistently demolishing enemy lords/heroes before they even know where he is and if you're using Teclis (for example) that means Alith can obliterate 70% of your battle power while his own army chills in some trees. Another example would be, imagine trying to run the plague priest front line setup as skaven when a single elf is sniping your plague priests from halfway across the map.
At 27:00 you said that you will get to the Sword of Khaine with Tyrion later. Will it be in another video or did you just forget to mention it? Anyways, great video!
started listening to this while driving home, nearly died from laughter at the intro. also can we get vamp coast or tomb kings next? pretty sure we arent getting more lords for those factions
Would love to see a lizardmen comparison next as they have probably the most diverse set of legendary lords. I think an issue with your list here is giving multiple people 10/10 battle strength even tho some are obviously much better than others. Teclis is by far the strongest when it comes to battle strength and his offensive power is basically unmatched and he can win battles by himself. He should get more points there than other legendary lords who are weaker than him in that regard.
I think he kind of went over that in his first videos with orcs tho. It's about how effective they are in combat not just if they can outduel another legendary lord. Look at alariel she got a 10/10 even tho I think she'd lose 1v1 against any of the other lords on this list. But she buffs her army well enough in combat compared to a grimgor or a Karl Franz.
@@christianshirreff1712 You completely misunderstood it. Battle prowess is not about 1v1 who caares about 1v1. It's about how effective the character is in combat. And Allarielle with flying mount and the bs amount of healing she provides she is very good.
Legend has improved in his ranking from Nerdy disheveled to sex simbol by using an update patch. *HE GOT BUFFED* and the wife appreciates that. That was what escalated Legend on the rank list. Now he's a Tyrion in much more ways
Nice video! Thank you! The only thing I'd disagree is giving Alarielle 10 as combatant: she's bad in melee, not amazing spellcaster and her magic doesn't really complement her army. And Legend admits this by attaching the light wizard :) Earth blood complements beast/low entity numbers spam army but for Sisters + heroes army life magic is kind of pointless.
He explains in the video how her magic is useful to a Sisters + heroes army. Namely by keeping the heroes in the fight. Giving her heroes healing and defensive buffs lets the sisters do their work better. It's hard to quantify the additional damage dealt by the sisters caused by her magic as opposed to her command skills but it is definitely substantial. Sure, you can stick a life wizard in Eltharion's army but it doesn't have to be unique to be powerful. Plus her eagle mount lets her snipe artillery very easily.
@@josephahner3031 >He explains in the video how her magic is useful to a Sisters + heroes army. Namely by keeping the heroes in the fight. I got this point, sure. However Legend here contradicts himself: he says that healing and keeping heroes fighting is super important but if you watch his livestreams you'll notice that he actually never attaches any healers to his SoA armies which kinda suggests that healing is not essential. >Plus her eagle mount lets her snipe artillery very easily. i'd argue with this actually: she has pretty low WS - it takes ages for destroying an artillery unit, if you send her for this mission she'll not able to heal because she's too far away. Also she's generally quite squishy - if AI sends a basic cav unit to help artillery she has to run away otherwise she might get easily killed.
Alith not 10/10 battle? Agh, he sure feels like it. Whenever I'm playing undead or some such he just nukes all my characters before the battle lines even meet.
"Nothing amazing about him, 8/10" like your score giving systems are ok, but in combat score your way to generous for me, maybe more acurrate would be to take basic lord as like 3, and then compare to that
@@SuperNintendawg yes but the reason he still gives so many high scores is exactly because of that, LLs aarent bad usually they are just mostly even better to each other.
I've got maybe one small thing to say against 10/10 for Alarielle in Combat: She is pretty squishy and pre-sisters of avelorn spam she can get sniped by the enemy despite being able to heal usually it's not really a problem, because she hides behind her army, but it's worth considering, I believe But it's fitting, that a woman takes the first spot in a video sponsored by Manscaped
This is the most surreal opening to a youtube video (about video games) that I've ever witnessed. Came for the High Elf Lords, stayed for the smooth balls.
Does Ashen Fields actually work on the Nuts and Bolts update? It was bugged to do literally nothing when Imrik came out and I'm not sure CA noticed and fixed it.
Jesus fucking Christ that was a 10/10 ad there! I'm definitely getting one now. I already have a trimmer but the lawnmower just looks so nice. I feel like I have to support them/you now. The skaven jokes were absolutely perfect 🤣
Well, all legendary lords can be leveled up in a "good" and "bad" way. For example, with the exception of Skaven, you want lightnight strike and quartermaster-fear and reknown are almost mandatory (from hard-very hard and above i think It is). With Alarielle, like Tyrion, you have one support skill tree and a war-centered skill tree, and the support one is way better, like with Tyrion. I Hope that answers your question.
@@anonymouswombat8538 That certainly helps. Could you elaborate on why the Skaven would not want lightning strike, quartermaster, and fear and reknown?
@@elguntor ok maybe i wasnt clear on the skaven subject. You dont need lightning strike with skaven because they can trigger an ambush when they attack, thus negating reinforcements. Truth be told, its not always 100% chance, but you can rise It to high standards. Quartermaster and feared... Are actually really neat in all races, including skaven. You always want that upkeep lower. You could say that, for the skaven and alith anar (Who also has this moving-ambush stance) lightning strike is a commodity, for the rest of the armies its a necesity
Great vid ! Would be good to have the Lizardmen covered next, as it's quite hard to see at a glance which of their lords are good and why. Also, it'd be good if you could mention faction bonuses associated with each starting legendary lord, as they can impact the strength of the faction by quite a bit. Example wurzag (better lord) vs Grom (better faction leader). This can help when deciding which campaign to play
I'm sure Imrik is a great lord, but playing him is miserable: moving in the middle of the mountains without underway movement is the most painful thing ever. His campaign is unplayable
I may have tuned out when there was something about elves but I will still say this was a good video about how all elves arent even worth putting on a list. Good content! Seriously though, your doing good work.

One thing on Alarielle...she moves the building for the Sisters of Avelorn down from Tier 4 to Tier 3, which means you could (if you want) put one of them in every settlement to boost your handmaiden-count to a ridiculous amount or just free up a building spot in the main settlement, not to mention having access to the sisters way earlier

Totally agree (although the very fact that he even needs an army to command can be debatable :P)

I'm halfway through a teclis campaign, conquering half the map. He's my favourite High elf lord so far, purely for the chain lightning spam. I love how he talked about his balls for three and a half minutes
Tomb Kings would be appreciated, we need to know if Settra really rules over everybody
@@alpacaherder5680 Sadly Arkhan is a Lore of Death caster, which is one of the less valuable lores, and he's not even a loremaster of it,
Meanwhile he doesn't get a lot of factionwide bonuses, though more Liche Priests is good (Khatep gets more than him though) and his army buffs are concentrated in his Vampire Counts units which are meh.

"giving him all the spells from those winds of magic would be crazy"
there is a mod for that, of course.

I swear war for #1 is gonna be as harsh as these characters fighting it out for control of Ulthuan in every campaign
He mentions it. He says that going down that trait tree isn't as good as the doing the Majesty of Ulthuan tree.
Best ad segment I've seen on TH-cam. 10/10
started listening to this while driving home, nearly died from laughter at the intro. also can we get vamp coast or tomb kings next? pretty sure we arent getting more lords for those factions
Nice. Also, good to see you getting some sponsorship, and in your brilliant fashion, from a ballhair trimmer XD
Lizard LLs are so good you replace them for life slanns LMAO
I used Teclis alone to eradicate Clan Fester in the early game.
And I'm not even joking, lol.
@@alpacaherder5680 that is exactly what I said that she deserves the 10/10 cause she does buff the army and not just herself
Legend has improved in his ranking from Nerdy disheveled to sex simbol by using an update patch. *HE GOT BUFFED* and the wife appreciates that. That was what escalated Legend on the rank list. Now he's a Tyrion in much more ways
I love that type of sponsoring
Holy smokes that was great. Glad you got a sponsor and gave such a good review!
Nice video!
Like I wrote in the Dark Elves video - this is my favourite series of yours, very informative. Can't wait for the other races :)

The chairs on all these flying mounts look really uncomfortable. Imagine the strain of casting coupled with the inevitable neck pain.
"Nothing amazing about him, 8/10" like your score giving systems are ok, but in combat score your way to generous for me, maybe more acurrate would be to take basic lord as like 3, and then compare to that
Yeah it is strange seeing pretty much every lord getting a 10 in combat. If everyone can get a 10, then everyone is equally ok.
They are legendary lords for a reason. Even the worst legendary hero is twice as good as a regular lord.

@@alpacaherder5680 yea but what is a point of this marks when everyone gets 10 or so? Thats not very helpful
I've got maybe one small thing to say against 10/10 for Alarielle in Combat:
She is pretty squishy and pre-sisters of avelorn spam she can get sniped by the enemy despite being able to heal
usually it's not really a problem, because she hides behind her army, but it's worth considering, I believe

Levelling up Alarielle "correctly" is mentioned several times in the video. Is there a reference anywhere for this?

How to demonatise your video in 4 quick minutes ^^ Funny though. Appreciated.
