Hey Shanna! Thanks for your question. Hopefully you’re subscribed. :) Check out my video with the thumbnail “how to tell her she’s just an associate,” it may answer your question. Let me know.

Had a friend/associate who kept saying “I feel like I only hear from you when I call you” or “I feel like I’m bothering you” etc. I didn’t know her that well and thought she was cool. I could not understand why she would throw that in my face after only a few days of no communication. It drove me insane and I cut her off when she went there again.

I feel you.. Having a friend who expects daily communication as if they're your spouse/ partner can be annoying and draining.

@@cherrikab It is emotionally exhausting. People like that have a difficult time making friends and I see exactly why! It’s challenging being friends someone like that and that’s why I just left her right there.

Literally going through this. Then she subbed me on IG with a post that said something like “if you’re the only one reaching out to someone then something is wrong” 😒. Like gimme a chance to call you… maybe if you weren’t so clingy and overbearing and dumping all your trauma on meI would call you more often!

Had a friend that fits some of the criteria, looking back she was a little clingy. I was her only friend, she was 40 and I was in my early 30s. We used to talk everyday, friends for years. She only wanted to chill with me alone and no other friends. It was annoying that she only wanted it to be us, but I tried to understand. She stopped calling me as much when she got a new man which I guess was somewhat normal. I saw some red flags with thier relationship like moving in too quickly, he was always borrowing her car etc. She basically refused to tell me where she was staying. It was odd since I used to visit her before she got a new place, she distanced herself and the pandemic made it too easy. 2 years went by and nothing, hardly a text. I saw an old pic of us hanging, I decided to text it to her saying that I missed her and I hoped all was well. She text back one word, "yup". So at that point I got the hint. I think it hurts when a clingy friend ends it. I truly hope she is happy.

Sometimes people will use you for a season they're in and make you reliant on them then they leave once they find fulfillment elsewhere. The only thing you can do is pray for her but most importantly, move on with your life understanding that people can be for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Thanks for viewing!

“You might be a bigger light in someone’s life than they are in yours !” Wow I needed to hear that 🙌🏾. Thank you for putting how I feel into words. Currently dealing with a clingy, trauma dumping cousin. I cant cut her off b.c she’s family 😒. I love her tho and she’s is not a bad person, but she can be very overbearing.

I have associates like that as well. I also have associates with many siblings but are clingy in friendships. Nothing can apply to everyone, just speaking for the majority of my observations. :)

That part about caring too much about missing a call! But it wasn’t a call it was a text. She sent something in the gc like a cute friendship letter pic and I saw it but forgot to respond back. Not even 20 minutes later she texts saying “you see me send something in the gc I get why so-and-so didn’t respond cuz she sleep but you don’t have any excuse” 💀

    • @cherrikab
      @cherrikab  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah those type of "friends" need a man 😂 but seriously, everything is all about communication. That could've been communicated much more respectfully because honestly you didn't have to respond at all. People lack maturity and it often shows in their relationships and friendships. Hopefully you were able to take the higher road, thanks for viewing!

What did you do to let the person know that you don’t view them as a best friend, but as an associate? I’m in this exact situation and naturally, I want to be blunt but my husband told me not to.

I can tell I’m the clingy one :c because I constantly want to be with them, I half to hold the urge to spam them with concern when their not online. I love this friend so much I dont want to loose them. But I also don’t wanna be annoying so I just sit their missing them until their online.

  • @teeganohara5698

Preach🤣 Thanks for this.🤗 Sometimes I hate to keep telling people "no" for constant demands on my free time.
Have a long time BF & she constantly invites me to hang out although I work constantly & have very little time to focus on my own dreams. I give them time sporadically but I have always been there for them which is what friends do. However if I tell her that I am busy focusing on a goal ( which sometimes I just say that I will be busy with no specifics) or if I tell her that I need to focus on self-care for a moment, she has at least once attempted to define what self-care should be which included hanging out with her & her family. She ignores what I state about my schedule & sometimes health issues & sends weekly invites if not more to which I have had to say "no" to.
Then when I am with her & her family, she makes the plans & rarely bends. At some point you start to just lose a sense of self. If I am constantly there for you & your family & all that I request is time for my own life sporadically, I believe that friends should respect that request & give you time to say when you are feeling balanced and free.
At the end of the day I am a great friend & there more than not & when possible but I don't want to feel that my life & time are exclusively for others & never for me. I honestly think that Covid & social distancing has made me want to focus more on goals & growing & made me sway more to the side of being an introvert rather than the ambivert that I usually am.🤔

It's even worse when a clingy friend is also inconsiderate. I'm glad you chose yourself when you needed to instead of stretching yourself thin continuously. Covid def changed all of us in some way. Thanks for viewing!

what’s the difference between a clingy friend and a one sided friendship because I definitely am a clingy friend after watching a few videos but the entire time I was feeling like I was in a one sided friendship that’s how I saw it , if she acted normal and treated me like she treats her other friends then I wouldn’t have any problem
