I spend wayyyy too much time playing this game and trying to find a lot of options of in-game choice. Also, whatever happened to the sequel? I thought they already announced it? P/S: Great video as always my guy!
First of all, very interesting, nice job and thanks! I didn't know anything about the original version or the creators. To me this really highlights how there seems to be things fundamentally wrong with how things work to produce what everyone consumes as normal. I suppose someone can just learn to deal with the attention of thousands of other people suddenly, but how many times will some people just not? And how William was left feeling because of that whole crediting situation. Real mental illness fuel, I imagine. It's funny because TSP is a game that causes you to see what happens when things go terribly wrong with the way a game is expected to normally run, but the game development itself sort of went the same way for real life for the developers.
My pleasure, glad you liked the video! And interacting with the community is part of the fun for me :D It always makes me happy to hear when someone has learned something or is inspired by the story in the video.
Thank you, I really appreciate the support! And it's always crazy to hear when people comment I'm one of their favorite creators since I binge watch TH-cam videos myself :D
Good reporting - I had no idea about any of this, but like to learn the background. I'm glad they are still friends and think they have their heads screwed on streight. Good luck and good fortune to the both of them.

I love the Stanley Parable! I’m so glad you posted this! I wasn’t sure if you’d made a video on it or not. Anyways, wonderful video and keep up the amazing work!! :D
Davey and William are some of the best people, I swear! They are both very smart and wise and find it easy to cooperate with each other. They also don't let their ego get in the way, which is always nice to know. 😊 Really, they are perfect for each other. Perfect friends!
You cannot just drop that Davey Wreden worked at Mana Bar. I refuse to believe I might have been served a TF2 themed cocktail by Davey f*ing Wreden. That's messed up.
There's quite a few modifications to the Source engine itself, but the fun fact of the remake is that it's pretty much a Portal 2 mod. If you open the dev console and set "host_timescale" so high that the game "loses connection" to its own server, the Portal 2 logo still remains on the error it gives. They definitely needed it to be Portal 2 though. The amount of world portals they used in The Stanley Parable is crazy, and P2's version of Source is the only one that has world portals.
@@nintySW hopefully. But the thing is a lot of celebrity creators after making one big game are completely lost so there stuck with the one thing that netted them massive success. It would be a shame if these guys fell into a spiral of one hit wonderism so many indie devs fall into.
It makes me happy to see someone's really ambitious idea and having limited knowledge of game development push through and create something that's simply surreal and absolutely mind-blowing to have such a storyline that is intended to spiral onto itself. Simply marvelous.
i love these documentaries, it really gives you a feel for the work, the passion, the process and people that are behind these masterpieces. It gives me hope that one day I can be like them! Thanks for your hard work!
@@ThatGuyGlen sorry i have to disagree, plus i said it first : you're awesome >:( (lmao thanks, there are sooo many kind-of-popular indie games I'm curious to see if you'll talk about someday)
This title sounds like an edit of the previous title. If so, it was a great edit, genuinely much more interesting sounding. And it answers the question I have always had since the game, which is, "Why have these people not made another game together".
Yup, it's an edited title. To be fair, I tried a couple of different ones, but I think the current one captures the essence of the video the most so I'm glad it also sounds more interesting :D
I feel like... thats just normal man. How one would feel after making a thing of that scale. I wish I could go through their experience, I think the "just talk" phase after finishing the game is something I would even want. The polar opposite is so white in comparison. Imagine if Davey took the job offer and he had to keep making game after game and would not receive the recognition and compensation he deserved for going the corporate route. I'm glad I was able to see this history. It feels so human.
What the hell? Davey worked at the Mana Bar in Australia? Yahtzee Croshaw of Zero Punctuation worked there for a good while, since the launch of the bar.
William so young and passionate, wanting to continue making games. The other lad seemed content with his fortune and wanted to quit there. A bit of a shame really
It was the best video game experience Ive ever had. At some points I was so invested that I cried about the death of a bucket. I cried when A shiny metal object was sent in an escape pod, and laughed so hard I broke my gaming desk. This game is so incredibly amazing I wish I could reset my brain and do it again. It's funny because TSP is a game that causes you to see what happens when things go terribly wrong with the way a game is expected to normally run, but the game development itself sort of went the same way for real life for the developers.
This is some really high quality work. I hope your channel gets more attention-it certainly deserves it.
Much appreciated!
Top quality video! The editing is on point, I love the nods to the game, like the infinite screens at 8:33
Thank you! A lot of time goes into the editing so it's always nice to hear it's appreciated :D
You need more attention dude, I love the style of your videos they're so we'll made
Much appreciated!
with this information it makes much more sense about The Beginnier's Guide game. thank you for this video
My pleasure, glad it was helpful!
WOW, I did NOT think I'd be hearing about The Mana Bar
"you could completely ignore stanley exists"
stanley kubrick: guess i'll die
Stan Lee :😢
kubrick is the chad kind stanley.
Not just the video but your communication in the comments is wonderfull. Thank you, I learned and enjoyed.
My pleasure, glad you liked the video! And interacting with the community is part of the fun for me :D It always makes me happy to hear when someone has learned something or is inspired by the story in the video.
I really love the unique editing style per game
You're one of my favorite creators and soon the TH-cam algorithm will see things my way haha. Keep it up, I'll be hyping you up through word of mouth
Thank you, I really appreciate the support! And it's always crazy to hear when people comment I'm one of their favorite creators since I binge watch TH-cam videos myself :D
A hallelujah choir was blasting in my brain the moment I saw this in my subscriptions.
Good reporting - I had no idea about any of this, but like to learn the background. I'm glad they are still friends and think they have their heads screwed on streight. Good luck and good fortune to the both of them.
Thank you!
Great video as always I remember back when the remake first came out and my friend came over to my house and showed it to me for the first time I remember thinking it was the funniest thing ever
Thank you! Same, I’ve never laughed so hard with a game before :D
From a Simple Half-Life 2 Mod To a Full On Steam Release
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR A VIDEO LIKE THIS FOR YEARS THANK YOU!!!!!
My pleasure! I noticed I couldn't find a video about its development so I just felt like I had to make it!
I love the Stanley Parable! I’m so glad you posted this! I wasn’t sure if you’d made a video on it or not. Anyways, wonderful video and keep up the amazing work!! :D
Much appreciated! I love The Stanley Parable as well so I just had to make a video about it :D
then when you find the adventure line, you get excited til it turns crazy, um guys something is broken here.
Great video. keep you the great work
Thank you, will do!
Davey and William are some of the best people, I swear! They are both very smart and wise and find it easy to cooperate with each other. They also don't let their ego get in the way, which is always nice to know. 😊
Really, they are perfect for each other. Perfect friends!
You cannot just drop that Davey Wreden worked at Mana Bar. I refuse to believe I might have been served a TF2 themed cocktail by Davey f*ing Wreden. That's messed up.
Wait, they serve gaming-themed drinks? I thought you just played video games while drinking or something
your videos are so good
Thank you!
As an Australian, I’ve never heard of manabar
There's quite a few modifications to the Source engine itself, but the fun fact of the remake is that it's pretty much a Portal 2 mod. If you open the dev console and set "host_timescale" so high that the game "loses connection" to its own server, the Portal 2 logo still remains on the error it gives.
They definitely needed it to be Portal 2 though. The amount of world portals they used in The Stanley Parable is crazy, and P2's version of Source is the only one that has world portals.
Great video. Thanks for putting this all together. I feel much more informed about the game and the devs.
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome to quotes: the video.
Touché.
I need a physical release of the soundtrack.
I want to play the adventure line theme on my vinyl player.
The B side should just be the adventure line(TM) song on loop for the whole run time (especially if it could be done in yellow)
William Pugh, I will always remember you when I think about The Stanley Parable.
All the best of luck to the team on Ultra Deluxe.
My heart skipped a beat when I heard they were remaking it
I can't wait to see what they add next
Ayyy
So glad this showed up in my recommended, The Stanley Parable is my favorite game of all time :D
The tragedy of peaking too soon.
Hopefully they'll peak again next year.
@@nintySW hopefully. But the thing is a lot of celebrity creators after making one big game are completely lost so there stuck with the one thing that netted them massive success. It would be a shame if these guys fell into a spiral of one hit wonderism so many indie devs fall into.
That's what she said
coming from the future where it did come out early 2022, I can say it was worth the wait. See for yourself, I'm not spoiling anything.
You do know that comments don’t time travel?
@@The_Shimp I'm fully aware, but I think I made this after having come back from a really gnarly party so take it with however much salt you want.
@@omegaultramax lol
@@The_Shimp they kinda do. Right now, I am seeing comments posted in the past. A form of "time travel" really.
It makes me happy to see someone's really ambitious idea and having limited knowledge of game development push through and create something that's simply surreal and absolutely mind-blowing to have such a storyline that is intended to spiral onto itself.
Simply marvelous.
Thank you for this documentary. Wow! How amazing!
This is the first video I see from you and I am already impressed. Keep up the good work :)
Thank you! More videos are coming! ;)
i love these documentaries, it really gives you a feel for the work, the passion, the process and people that are behind these masterpieces. It gives me hope that one day I can be like them! Thanks for your hard work!
really good video you deserve so many more subscribers
Thank you, glad you liked it!
just found your channel, been bingewatching your content, you're awesome .... have good day
No, you’re awesome! Good day to you too, cheers!
@@ThatGuyGlen sorry i have to disagree, plus i said it first : you're awesome >:(
(lmao thanks,
there are sooo many kind-of-popular indie games I'm curious to see if you'll talk about someday)
Bro I just watched a video on a computer of a narrator talking about a man on a computer making a game about a man on a computer with a narrator
I love these stories. Thanks again, Glen.
My pleasure, it was a blast making this one!
your videos are so good you should have 10 mil
"Stanley reached a set of two doors. He entered the door on his left. "
Stanley: and I took this personally
This is wholesome. It gives me hope as an indie myself.
William so young and passionate, wanting to continue making games. The other lad seemed content with his fortune and wanted to quit there. A bit of a shame really
Still waiting for Stanley Parable Deluxe
Same!
i will, until something new, maybe, tops it, argue the stanley parable demo is the absolute best demo ever created. period.
I really cant wait to see The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe
It was the best video game experience Ive ever had. At some points I was so invested that I cried about the death of a bucket. I cried when A shiny metal object was sent in an escape pod, and laughed so hard I broke my gaming desk. This game is so incredibly amazing I wish I could reset my brain and do it again. ALL PRAISE JUMPING
