    Honestly, I’ve spent some money on some questionable things in my life but this is another level. I guess we’ll see if pro’s use this kind of tech. That’s how you’ll know if it’s more than vanity (which is a perfectly good reason to buy this btw)

    • @waynosfotos

      Pros ride what they are given. The teams do sponsor deals, the riders have little choice unless they are a big name. Even then the name is removed and sometimes the sponsored name is added.

      Look at this video th-cam.com/video/EM5yJcftz74/w-d-xo.html at 5:25 mark, some pros don’t even know what bike they’re riding on. They ride what they’re given even if it doesn’t perform great. They have to make the sponsors happy so that they can have a job.

    • @GCPerformance18
      @GCPerformance18  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      also pros ride what they want, like pro teams who are not sponsored by ceramicspeed all have ceramicspeed bottom brackets installed and swapped out

    • @robertcatuara5118

      Many many of the pros had this on their TT bike at the Tour. Easy to spot with the Danish flag on it.

    • @CG-99
      @CG-99 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pros who are sponsored by Ceramicspeed will use this, not necessarily because it makes them go faster but because their contracts with Ceramicspeed requires they use the product. If you see some using it unbranded then this is a sign that they think it gives a performance benefit and they spent their own lobby on it.

    Pretty sure these "marginal gains" products are produced expressly for the intended use of World Tour level pro teams. They just sell them to the general Fred Public so they can attain "production model" status, which I think all UCI approved gear has to be in order to be raced. In other words, they don't really expect to sell many.

    So let me get this right, they pushed a gigantic pulley wheel set that increased frontal area thus drag where the air is already very disturbed anyway and are now offering a solution to the aero problem they claimed not to have created for $800?
    I suppose next they will offer a $500 brush with special applicator to clean it and claim that will save 49 seconds due to trapped grime reducing efficiency.
    Then next year introduce a smaller model with better aero.
    Year after introduce a larger pulley for lower friction.
    Rinse and repeat?

    OK, elite level bike components are not cheap. Carbon wheelsets for example.
    But this? How much? Pardon?
    I’m definitely for ceramic bearings and low viscosity oil…..my Shimano baitcaster fishing reel can spin on freespool for over a minute with Boca ceramic bearings.
    Technically an interesting proposition. Financially? 😆
    Comparing weight to aero however, I think physics is on the side of aero for marginal gains. I don’t think many Tour bikes are at the UCI limit of 6.8 kg

    Having a cover for aerodynamic gains on a rear derailleur like this is kinda stupid. The RD has to move up and down because riders are constantly shifting gears. Maybe in the biggest cog do you get some aero advantage but let's be real if you're in your granny gear in the cassette chances are you are NOT going fast. This is more weight thrown on to the bike and less weight in your bank account.
