  • @BADonnelly65

    Thanks for the review. Pretty much what I expected and totally get the lukewarm reaction. I’ve been enjoying my ZX4RR for three weeks now. I am an older former BMW S1000RR and current single R rider. I had to make the switch in 2014 due to some nerve issues lingering from an old back injury. I personally think this ZX4RR is not targeted toward younger upward aspiring track riders. It’s just too expensive. Personally, I think it was designed for me. I’ve got the track skills but ready to slow down, need slightly relaxed ergos but still desire the premium bits that generally aren’t included in entry level bikes like the Ninja 400. The bonus of my ZX4RR is that I can ride on the street like I do on track without going to jail!

    • @feralchimp
      @feralchimp ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard agree. At 45 / 160 lbs with some prior track experience, this is honestly the perfect street/track motorcycle for me. Extremely fun on the street even with the stock US throttle nerfing, and trivially unlockable a little further into break-in. Honestly not sure I'll swap the exhaust unless I take the plunge into a Novice grid, and maybe not even then. I kinda want to get a second one to make track only. 😬

    • @ThaSideWeed
      @ThaSideWeed ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard disagree tbh. You're comparing what exactly? The ability to stay at high rpms on this? Otherwise there is mostly nothing in common as I'm sure you're aware.
      The electronics are indeed a differentiating factor and pertain to the premium segment. But physical component-wise I'd struggle to call anything on this bike premium.

    • @2WCapo
      @2WCapo ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The problem is it costs the same or more as the 636. At that price it doesn’t make sense. They should offer a regular ZX4R (not RR) and charge way less.

    • @djmohab2
      @djmohab2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In no world does it cost as much or more as the ZX-6R, you 40 IQ

    • @Real_MisterSir
      @Real_MisterSir ปีที่แล้ว +4

      But the thing is, can't you say the exact same thing about an RC390 that costs half? Or a 636 that costs the same? Or is a bike like the 636 inherently less about "having fun" just because it has a better engine and components?
      Don't get me wrong, it's not about the ZX4RR not being fun. It's about what insane price tag it demands just for being fun.
      A Miata's fun value is amazing, because it is economically obtainable. It doesn't cost the same as a typical 60k sportscar, yet it offers equal fun factor. That's the difference. It aint fast, but its inexpensive and its fun. ZX4RR unfortunately isn't in that category unless you give it that flash it needs, and also lower the price by a good 1-2k at least.

    Its completely fair to judge the zx4rr by it's specs and price wherever you are in the world and comparing it to other motorcycles in the sams class or maybe even above BUT it's also completely unfair to disregard and brush it off as a failure. It's an amazing motorcycle and it's existence should be welcomed as it adds more variety in it's class that is full of single or twin cylinder engines. It's a really cool machine and like all expensive toys. It's not for everyone.

    The only thing people did on this bike from my country is to change the engine sprocket for more torque, other than that it's not neutered here unlike there. Hard to justify $13k out the dealer price when it's being sold for less here in my country, with about 78-80hp on the dyno. I personally want one, because tollways here only allow 400cc and above motorcycles to pass through.
    That bike was made for the Asian Market and prolly the Euro market, not for Americans that complain how small a 400 is when it really is a big bike for us Asian dudes. 🤷‍♂️

  • @masisan4036

    i think why zx4rr price is sky high because its a brand new developed engine that kawasaki has not done in very long time.. can you even remember when the last time any motor bike brand that made 400cc 4 cylinder..?? plus maybe kawasaki pricing it so high because there is no motor bike brand that make 400cc 4 cylinder nowadays.. not like in the past where every japanese motor bike brand had 400cc 4 cylinder engine.. yamaha, honda, suzuki them all had it..
    so i think thats why it price is so damn high, because they are the first motor bike brand which brings 400cc 4 cylinder back to life..

    I know one of the folks at Woolwich discovered that the Ninja 400 ECU could be "Dual Booted" for lack of a better term, with nothing more than an additional ground wire. It would be nice to find out that the proper higher spec was already loaded up on the 4RR's ECU and just needed something as simple as the old ZX6R Jumper Mod to unlock it.
    Otherwise, having to pay that much for most of the bike and then pay for a flash to get the rest of it.. It's just unacceptable.

    I'll be honest, this bike while out of my price range, bothers me. Mostly in that Kawasaki marketed it as if it can punch up on the 600's, and priced it accordingly. It probably brought back memories for some of those race ready 250cc screamers. But then we all find out the hard way, they cut the bike's balls off from the factory with zero notice. I suspect that a big reason for this, is to comply with the ever more absurd and impossible emissions regulations, but then how do larger displacement bikes not get neutered as well? Don't they have to comply with the insanity as well? If they wanted to make a spicier 400 from the factory, why not just beef up the Ninja 400 and make it a separate SKU? Call it like a Ninja 400-SP or something to differentiate it from the stock bike and Z400.

    I think they nailed it, the analysts online had already been saying this for a while. The price is just too high for what Kawasaki is delivering in the US and Canada. It needs to be under 9K before taxes and fees. I think the only thing keeping the demand up is that it can be reflashed, but that adds more cost since you will need the tune and a slip on beyond the scalpers prices you already paid for the bike.

      @@maxduarte7354 I'm talking long term. Everytime a desirable vehicle comes out there are going to be mark ups for a few months while people with more dollars than sense make the early orders. Once that settles out then we'll probably see MSRP or even less. There's only so many people that are going to have $9k plus for a beginner bike and a willingness to pay another $1-1.5k for an exhaust and tune. Those people will buy early then bikes will start to sit.

    The RC 390 is a heap of trash compared to the tech pacakge 400RR and the R7 sounds like poop compared to the 400 inline 4......I'll pay the premium and SMILE EAR to EAR every time I get one it!!

    I think there’s big gains to be made with the little inline 4. I mean you could do soo much to it. Probably get it to rev to 16k and port the head. up the compression bigger cams. Bigger exhaust and a tune. I’ll bet there’s more on the table then a single or a twin.

    • @thecamdenyard
      @thecamdenyard ปีที่แล้ว

      Head work and cams, port the throttle bodies it will be pushing close to 100whp if not a lil more!! In stock form (non US/CAN ) tune😂. The bike is making 80hp… and it being 24.34 cubic inches (399cc) that’s about 3.25hp per cubic inch stock!!! In the world of hot rods and cars If you can get 1.5hp per cubic inch N/A you’re doing good!!!
      100whp is very healthy amount to play with on the street and hopefully stay out of jail… and to be able do it all with 399cc motorcycle insurance premiums… beautiful 😎 Here in the US insurance premiums on the “super sports” is exactly that Premium 😢

    Apparently after thoroughly figuring out the difference between this, the ZX4R and a regular Ninja 400( because of the ridiculous difference in price) an ECU flash will wake the ZX4RR Right TF Up! Turns it into a slightly slower SuperSport that can be wrung right out to 16k without worrying about it flying off in that direction lol..tame. Yet still boasts a TP of over 150mph after tune. Not too bad in my book...if you have or simply don't care about the cost🤷

But if I got on it, I'm guessing I'd think it's fast as heck then 1-2 years later I can uncork it and not have to buy another bike and lose money selling this one.
