Blamed? I see your point, but that can also apply to every tech video how-to video on TH-cam and most do not have this disclaimer. Most people who follow my steps have good results. I could really need your help. I followed your steps, did everything correctly but the Update Button won't highlight for me it always says Your BIOS File is older as the latest BIOS version 😢
So, after putting in the winflash /nodate command it prevents the update? What was the path that you used when you did the cd command? Was it similar to mine? C:\ ProgramFiles (x886)\Asus?
hey you make such good guides, any chance of a guide of handheld companion specific to the ROG Ally? I've tried it but was having a lot of issues so uninstalled it, it was likely I didn;t set it up properly
Hi, yes I have encountered this as well. I didn't notice it right away because I usually put my device to sleep rather than power it down fully. This definitely shouldn't be happening because we disabled the auto update feature in MyAsus. As a temporary measure until I can find a fix or until the next BIOS update, I am just choosing no when prompted or putting the device to sleep rather than powering it off completely.
Hm it looks different for me When I hit the second button it turned off and shows the updates in progress please dont turn off you computer That for about 10 mins now😢 The screen with that status bar weve seen in your video isnt there yet And now? Im not sure what to do when it wont stop with that update screen

Same failure issue as others have reported. Exact steps followed, Ally shuts down but doesn't reboot. Won't power back on unless the ac adapter is unplugged.
@@darealmaul Put the bios file onto a USB stick (I had a USB-C dock, but an adaptor will work). Boot the Ally into the Bios (hold volume down button whilst booting), go to Advanced , EZ Flash Bios tool and select the USB drive with the 317 file (mine was the top). It'll update. It will boot back into the Bios each time though, asking to update to the latest version. Just cancel and let it boot into Windows. Bit of a pain, but I don't think it'll be long before 3.20 arrives.
You will be asked to restart after you do the rollback in Windows. When you restart you will be prompted to update to 317 and then it will install the BIOS and reboot back into Windows. After that you should be good to go and not be prompted to restart again.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 after clicking update in winflash and you click exit, it will restart and the bios will update. After that one it’s asking me to restart again. When I do, it is goijg back to 319.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 alright bro it was successful but I noticed when I turned it off and turned it back on… it tried to automatically make me update my bios and I had to press no lol
So now I know when you press a when you restart it automatically takes you back to 3.19 🤦♂️🤦♂️ ima do it again in the morning and just remember to hit no every time lol
I can’t get winflash to open the application. Everytime I try it’s just telling me to either repair it or uninstall it. I’ve tried repairing it about 20 times and still nothing
Not entirely sure what you mean by "I can’t get winflash to open the application"... Can you be more specific? Is it the Winflash app that is not opening for you or something else?
When you did the command prompt what path did you put? Was it the C: Program files path? I'm trying to figure out why some people are having this issue because I have done this repeatedly and have not encountered this issue
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 thanks for your answer, as an update on my own post, it did not work, when the laptop restarted from exiting winflash, it simply went back to windows and didn't install the BIOS, so i guess it works different with the ally and the laptop. Too bad since the 321 update on the laptop is total trash.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 I actually just got done doing it ! Instead of 317 I went to 334 from 335 just because there was some crashing and it seems to have resolved it ! Thanks man!
My Ally hates any bios but 323. Anything else the wattage is low and gpu gets stuck at 800mhz doesn't matter if on Performance/Turbo or a manual wattage
good evening, I don't know if there is an error in my process; during the cmd i wrote all the words but when i started "win flash" it came out message that there is a newer bios
I couldn't get this to work. It never did reboot to Winflash and shut itself off. Interestingly, I couldn't turn it back on until I unplugged the power cable.
That is very interesting. I have done this twice now with no issues on either try. Others have also gotten it to work. Can you provide more detail on what happened?
Followed ur instructions and Winflash did reboot windows but didn’t reboot into the flashing process. It just shut off. I had to unplug the power and then I was able to turn it back on.
The only way that I know of is by disabling auto update. However, I also experienced the same thing. However, after I installed my new SSD and restored Windows and did the rollback for some reason it no longer prompted me to update. What you can do in the meantime since this is just a temporary fix until the next BIOS update is put the device to sleep rather than turning it off completely. I rarely turn my device off. I just put it into hibernation.
I have also experienced this. This should not be happening with automatic updates disabled. As a temporary measure until the next update, you can select no when you reboot or put the device to sleep instead of powering down. I am also going to try disabling MyAsus to see if that helps
I have the same problem. I guess its because of the after we upgrading to the 319 the EZ flash doesn't delete the file, so when we downgrade to 317 and reboot, it checks the bios version and ask for an update. Any1 know how to delete the unwanted 319 file ? :;)
I downgraded 330 to 323 but when I restart the rog ally. Automatically Entering the bios and trying update to version 330. I chose no and restart well. How can I fix this ?
How did IT Work for you? I downloaded the 319 from the Asus App and started the update. After that It is restarting the ally. The Problem is, it doesnt Boot into the BIOS and didnt Update. I am Just landing into the Windows Homescreen again.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 yeah It still Shows 319. I updated the BIOS with winflash again. Had Lot of issues with 317.. I Hope that Future Updates will Work again Like before over myasus. Other Question: Sometimes the Ally don't recognize my Power supply an goes to 25W mode. I have to restart my Ally to Play again with Power supply and 30W. You think the Heat have anything to do with that (Sometimes its about 92°C)? Thanks for your Support!
Follow your steps and download your links. Works flawless thanks very much❤! Ps: didn’t the cmd prompt because for some reason it was on 312 bios firmware 🤔
lol so I downgrade bios. Today turned it on and went direct to bios and updated to 3.19 again lol. Now downgrading once again. This is annoying. look like it gives you a 60 second window then just does it. Cmon Asus no auto updates means none.
I feel you bro. It is annoying. I don't usually power down the device. I put it to sleep instead. So, I didn't notice this for a couple of days. This is a temporary fix until the next bios update, so I recommend putting it to sleep instead of powering off completely.
Yup. But that has been the case with every device. Early adopters always get it the worst. The Steam Deck is now very well polished after a year. It was just as buggy at launch
I downgraded too but when I restarted the ally , system automatically entering the bios and trying update to 330. How can I fix this. I choose no update and start well but if I restart the Ally, again entering the bios
@@guvenctopuz Go into device manager and uninstall the device for system firmware, also not sure this helped but I also turned off automatic updates in armory crate afterwards
Here's the easy way... Go to the start menu and then to your apps. Find Winflash in the list, right click on it and select open file location. Then when it opens, right click on the icon and select open file location again. This will take you to the true location. In the bar where it shows the file location, right click and select copy address. When you are in the command prompt type cd and then paste the address.
Found the solution, the problem is that you are trying to open the program from the start menu, try from the folder instead (C/programs x86/Asus/winflash), it worked for me.
I have also just experienced this. I usually put my Ally to sleep instead of powering it down. Looking into it at the moment. May have to disable MyAsus in the for the time being.
Hey! I follow the steps and the bios updates but when the device turns back on I’m still on bios version 319. Do I need to say yes or no when the EZ bios message comes up on reboot? I’ve been saying no?
After entering the command in the command prompt and loading the BIOS file in Winflash it will reboot and ask if you want to update to 317. You will select yes and then it will flash the BIOS to 317
There are people in this comment section including myself who it has worked for. Are you sure you followed the steps correctly? What issue are you having exactly?
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 yes but when I select the bios win flash say the bios is older to update , but I did all the step correctly with cmd no error or something like that just the problem is winflash when I want to update
I need you to be more descriptive in order for me to help you though. What happened when you did the steps? Saying it didn't work doesn't really help me. Its like taking your car to a mechanic and saying your car doesn't work, as opposed to to saying it doesn't turn over, it makes a weird sound when I turn, or rattles when I drive. DM Me in Discord
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 not sure tbh. It ran fine until the 319 update rolled out. Once that updated, everything started crashing. Now it just freezes when I ask it to do anything, including loading armory crate. Even task manager freezes. Did a hard reset, started working again, but then it automatically downloaded the firmware update and bam, same problems happened again. I’m going to take it back where I bought it today and do an exchange in case my unit itself is just defective but I’m 99% sure it’s just the 319 update since that seems to be the common denominator. Now what I don’t know, is how to keep it from automatically updating once I do a factory reset or replace it again. Any ideas on how to stop it from automatically updating the bios?
Don't sleep on it. I own three handhelds. The others haven't been powered on since the ROG Ally entered the picture. It is impressive, but like the rest, not perfect.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 agreed. had the steam deck for a year, would never touch the steam deck again, ended up selling it, this beats it by a large margin in performance and features.

After the rollback, there’s always this notification to restart. Is it really like that?
You will be asked to restart after you do the rollback in Windows. When you restart you will be prompted to update to 317 and then it will install the BIOS and reboot back into Windows. After that you should be good to go and not be prompted to restart again.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 after clicking update in winflash and you click exit, it will restart and the bios will update. After that one it’s asking me to restart again. When I do, it is goijg back to 319.
On the restart after you use the ez flash you just his yes to flash whatever update that’s pops up at 1st?
Yes. Exactly. It will have the 317 BIOS loaded
You are a hero
I can’t get winflash to open the application. Everytime I try it’s just telling me to either repair it or uninstall it. I’ve tried repairing it about 20 times and still nothing
Not entirely sure what you mean by "I can’t get winflash to open the application"... Can you be more specific? Is it the Winflash app that is not opening for you or something else?
I do this step by step, but after doing the command prompt entry and going back to winflash, it won’t let me hit update.
When you did the command prompt what path did you put? Was it the C: Program files path? I'm trying to figure out why some people are having this issue because I have done this repeatedly and have not encountered this issue
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 Yes it was and it still doesnt work unfortunately
Same here not working for me
Just figured it out. You have to run winflash as administrator
@@vKarnage done that still doesnt work unfortunately
Will the rollback option work on an asus laptop? Last BIOS update broughtt lots of problems
Not sure about an Asus laptop. It may work actually. But I haven't tried it
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 thanks for your answer, as an update on my own post, it did not work, when the laptop restarted from exiting winflash, it simply went back to windows and didn't install the BIOS, so i guess it works different with the ally and the laptop. Too bad since the 321 update on the laptop is total trash.
I can do this right from the ally? I don’t have to connect it to my pc or anything ?
Yes, you can do the whole thing on the Ally
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 I actually just got done doing it ! Instead of 317 I went to 334 from 335 just because there was some crashing and it seems to have resolved it ! Thanks man!
My Ally hates any bios but 323. Anything else the wattage is low and gpu gets stuck at 800mhz doesn't matter if on Performance/Turbo or a manual wattage
That's interesting. Its working fine for me on the current BIOS
@OVERKILLGAMING786 after upgrading bios to latest one I DDU my gpu drivers and all is good now 👍 been working great so far
good evening, I don't know if there is an error in my process; during the cmd i wrote all the words but when i started "win flash" it came out message that there is a newer bios
What is your current bios? When it tells you that there is a newer bios what bios is it pointing to?
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 saying the same thing for me man. It’s saying I’m on the newest bios which is 338 and I’m tryin to install 337
For me the bios thing keeps trying to make me updates to the newest bio is there a way to make it stop asking me or no
There is a setting in MyAsus to disable automatic updates. That may prevent it from prompting you to update
I couldn't find bois 317 can you upload it and share a link please?
I couldn't get this to work. It never did reboot to Winflash and shut itself off. Interestingly, I couldn't turn it back on until I unplugged the power cable.
That is very interesting. I have done this twice now with no issues on either try. Others have also gotten it to work. Can you provide more detail on what happened?
Followed ur instructions and Winflash did reboot windows but didn’t reboot into the flashing process. It just shut off. I had to unplug the power and then I was able to turn it back on.
@@dakota199600 Exact same issue with me as well. Didn't update and had to unplug the charger to turn back on.
I am know in 317. But every time when i start the Asus rog Ally, ITS going First in the BIOS Mode an tryes to Update. How can i avoid that?
The only way that I know of is by disabling auto update. However, I also experienced the same thing. However, after I installed my new SSD and restored Windows and did the rollback for some reason it no longer prompted me to update. What you can do in the meantime since this is just a temporary fix until the next BIOS update is put the device to sleep rather than turning it off completely. I rarely turn my device off. I just put it into hibernation.
Alright thanks for your answer!
I disable the thing for automatic updates, when I restarted it updated the firmware
Dealing with the same issue, any fixes?
It worked, thx
You are the best ❤️
Anyone experienced that in Perfomance mode , the Gpu is capped at 800Mhz with bios 319 ?
Yes. Its the same in 317 also
Help! Why my Asus ROG Ally still on 3.12 Bios Firmware on System info. Microsoft 😮🤯
Not sure bro. Out of the box I believe my device was on 317 and I updated to 319. Not sure why you're on 312
I downgraded 330 to 323 but when I restart the rog ally. Automatically Entering the bios and trying update to version 330. I chose no and restart well. How can I fix this ?
Have you tried disabling Auto update in My Asus?
I did but I fixed this way: removed the charging adapter and restarted than solved. @@OVERKILLGAMING786
Awesome
Did you figure out a way to make it stop going back to the bio thing cause it’s annoying me
Also this worked perfect for me and I am now on 317.
Awesome!
Wow thanks alot!!, the auto update, update my T_T
hey i wanted to try go again to 319. But its not working over the asus app. Do i have to Always use from now winflash when i want to Upgrade my Bios??
No. You should be able to update back to 319 in the MyAsus app. I wanted to test 319 again and was able to do it in the MyAsus app
How did IT Work for you? I downloaded the 319 from the Asus App and started the update. After that It is restarting the ally. The Problem is, it doesnt Boot into the BIOS and didnt Update. I am Just landing into the Windows Homescreen again.
When you go into the MyAsus app does it still show the 317 BIOS or 319?
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 yeah It still Shows 319. I updated the BIOS with winflash again. Had Lot of issues with 317.. I Hope that Future Updates will Work again Like before over myasus.
Other Question: Sometimes the Ally don't recognize my Power supply an goes to 25W mode. I have to restart my Ally to Play again with Power supply and 30W. You think the Heat have anything to do with that (Sometimes its about 92°C)? Thanks for your Support!
maan you saved me.
Roll back from 322 to 317. 322 is FILLED with new problems.
What new problems?
Follow your steps and download your links. Works flawless thanks very much❤!
Ps: didn’t the cmd prompt because for some reason it was on 312 bios firmware 🤔
Awesome!
Done everything and still not allowed me to downgrade
Can you go into more detail as to what is happening? The more details the better
How to see my current bios version
The Winflash app shows your current BIOS
lol so I downgrade bios.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 good device but it has some jank.
Yup. But that has been the case with every device. Early adopters always get it the worst. The Steam Deck is now very well polished after a year. It was just as buggy at launch

Same, I hate the horrible whining noise that was added by 330

Here's the easy way... Go to the start menu and then to your apps. Find Winflash in the list, right click on it and select open file location. Then when it opens, right click on the icon and select open file location again. This will take you to the true location. In the bar where it shows the file location, right click and select copy address. When you are in the command prompt type cd and then paste the address.

Do I need to say yes or no when the EZ bios message comes up on reboot? I’ve been saying no?

Y’all out here worried about a small performance drop, it completely turned my ally into a paperweight. :-/
How did that happen?
