I did like Christopher in this roll. Probably his best . No , it was his best. Also Johnny Weissmuller too was great at the roll. But Johnny Weissmuller was I think 30s prob 40s. Good for his time too
I was 26 when this movie came out I thought it was the best rendition of Tarzan since Johnny Weismuller. And the jungle scenes were well made in my opinion, but people always have there favorites. Along with the Highlander
Here Andie MacDowell says "I think English is so much prettier when spoken with a French accent." In Groundhog Day Bill Murray impresses her by reciting French poetry. :)
The funny part about her talking about accents and mimicry is that this is actually Glenn Close's voiced dubbed over Andie McDowell's performance, because of Andie's accent not being what they wanted.
People frequently complain about the actresses dubbed voice, I always found it easier to suspend belief here than for obvious cgi, as present in the newer version. Otherwise she is wonderfully cast and quite beautiful. Anyone used to watching foreign language films, be it subtitled or dubbed should find this irritation minor.
Andie McDowells voice was dubbed because she has a Southern accent and it kept surfacing in the dialogue so they opted for dubbing rather than the audience wondering why a character, who is British, has a southern drawl.
So the American woman who is portraying a British woman, because she can't do a British accent is dubbed by another American woman who can't do a British accent. Bravo!
Did you recognize Glenn Close’s voice? They voiced over Andie MacDowell with Glenn Close in every scene for what reason I have no idea why! Glenn Close does have a perfect voice but I think Andie’s would have been perfectly fine. Kind of odd to me.
An excellent mimic indeed - andie macdowell's voice is actually glenn close's voice dubbed lol ... meanwhile all these clowns are mimicking and they call Tarzan an animal.
In one of the old Planet Of The Apes sequels, the apes filmed a version where a lost gorilla had been living with wild humans, and those apes killed the f&%k outta the humans they cast in the film. It won 6 Ape-cademy Awards (also known as the Bonzoes). True story.
how underrated a movie this is.
Christopher Lambert is the best Tarzán of the all time.
I agree. He is such an under appreciated actor.
Today is his birthday!
I did like Christopher in this roll. Probably his best . No , it was his best. Also Johnny Weissmuller too was great at the roll. But Johnny Weissmuller was I think 30s prob 40s. Good for his time too
Johnny wise muller is Tarzan

Makes me laugh so much when he shows the spoon back to his friend like to say.. yeah don t worry i ve got it and then he drinks from the plate again
Such an underrated masterpiece ❤️
Great damn movie. I saw this on HBO when I was a kid so many times in the summer! The best Tarzan movie ever made. So good. What a classic!
Christophe Lambert is really hot as Tarzan. I really love how he made tiger growling here. It look like Jane was really tuned on listening to him.
"A tiger!? In AFRICA!!!???"
(they never did find the officer's leg, did they?) 🐍🛖🐯
3:12 is a scene I randomly think about 😂😂
Great Movie!! I’d love to see it again after all these years.
I agree on that comment. He is the finest actors in Europe and Nth America. He was so cute when he did that film.
Glenn Close dubbing Andie MacDowell is as weird as it sounds.
Same I was like Ah why is Andie sounding different.
@@Disney65Fan This sounds like Andie Macdowell, in this clip.... I would swear to it...
Fun fact: The woman who played Jane in this film was dubbed by Glen Close before Glen went to do the voice of Kala in Disney's Tarzan (1999)
The woman who played Jane was Andie MacDowell, who went on to star in "Groundhog Day" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral."
Now that I know that it's Glenn Close's voice that's all I hear, it's very strange to watch!
They shouldn't have dubbed it, stupid decision. Nobody cares Andie's accent at the time.
And Ian Holm is in this film while Lance Henriksen is in Disneys.
Glenn's voice does sound beautiful in the movie though.
Here Andie MacDowell says "I think English is so much prettier when spoken with a French accent."

Girl... I've been watchin' Youooo.
(When Greystoke doea the CLOSE ACTION Animal Sounds.)
It's weird hearing Glenn Close's voice coming out of Andie McDowell.
This was always my favorite scene. 😊👍❤❤
0:13 can't say he doesn't show solidarity.
Andie McDowell should've been dubbed by Samuel L. Jackson.
Oh goodness!!!
Did Disney use Christophe Lambert as the model for their animated Tarzan? They look the same. Also, that's Glenn Close's voice as Jane.
John.. the spoon!
Holds it up
Yeah got one thanks
😆 🤣
Christopher Lambert a été parfait.
Think I heard the sound of a waterfall in there.
LOL

Good for you. However in the original story, Jane is a southern belle. They didn't need to dub.
Sequels to my favorite movies

They should have made her american like in the orginal stories. Jane Porter was american not british
Tarzan from 1999
3:12 My Guess is that's the sound of A Leopard slash Panther Tarzan is Mimicking.
Yup. Sheeta the leopard..
Not gonna lie. Even that scared me a bit.
I always loved this scene 💞💞💞💞
She doesn't know if she should be scared or turned on.
So the American woman who is portraying a British woman, because she can't do a British accent is dubbed by another American woman who can't do a British accent. Bravo!
As I recall, Andie's Southern accent was so impenetrable that even we Yankees had a tough time understanding her.
So it's like that Kirk Lazarus quote: I'm the dude playing a dude disguised as another dude
..wasn't the character "Jane Porter" actually an American from Baltimore?
@@robertoferrari5397 Exactly
souvenirs d'enfance très beau film à l'époque
It's a great movie for kid.
I seen this in the theatre.
R.I.P. Hugh Hudson....
All the young boys nowdays are Tarzan eating
That’s not Andie Macdowells voice hahaha
This is just a casual Florida meal
💻 Google define initiate............Sir John is an animal figure of speech...........🌹

@2:24 What animals can you do . . .
Glenn Close was the voice of Andie.

Oh definitely
Mike Nicholas Bloomsburg Pa n I TerriTheresaStaples Williams don't forget. Tarzan the legend rises
Andie MacDowell
Was Christopher Lamberts voice dubbed?
was it trick-filmed or did they really killing apes for this movie? need know... cant sleep
Sadly but they are still killing them, just saying

Ça...ça sent pas très bon...well said
Better Glenn Close dubbing and we get to see Andie MacDowell, then the other way around. Andie is beautiful looking.
Glenn's voice sounds beautiful in the movie.
Gostaria de assitir o filme dublado
OMG
Gostaria de ver o filme todo bom filme
Andie Macdowell should have learnt something from his skills. As an actress, she's always been utterly bland.
