CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jane (Andie MacDowell) turns down Esker's (James Fox) marriage proposal and Tarzan (Christopher Lambert) makes things worse by protecting a friend.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes is a reverent retelling of the Edgar Rice Burroughs original, with a 1980s-sensibilities slant. Shipwrecked on the coast of Africa, Lord Jack Clayton (Paul Geoffrey) and his pregnant wife Lady Alice (Cheryl Campbell) attempt to survive in the hostile environment, but both die shortly after the birth of their son John. Abandoned in the wilderness, the orphaned John is adopted by a family of rather highly evolved apes, and raised as one of their own. Years later, John-now known as Tarzan, and now played by Christopher Lambert-comes across a party of white hunters. Rescuing one of the intruders, Belgian Captain Phillipe D'Arnot (Ian Holm) from a horrible death , Tarzan is taught to speak English by the grateful D'Arnot. Coming across the remains and possessions of Tarzan's parents, D'Arnot discovers that the Lord of the Jungle is actually the Earl of Greystoke. Brought back to England, Tarzan is introduced to society, where his crude, apelike manners offend everyone--except the likeable (and painfully senile) 6th Lord of Greystoke (Ralph Richardson, in his final film role) and Greystoke's American ward, Jane Porter (Andie McDowell, whose Southern-fried voice is dubbed by Glenn Close). Disturbed at the notion of Tarzan's inheriting Greystoke manner, his more greedy relatives begin plotting against him. But it is Tarzan himself who decides that he cannot adapt himself to England-especially after a painful reunion with his ape foster father, imprisoned in a science-lab cage.

Love the way he takes the simple fella to him afterwards.
The earl of greystoke has a huge heart.
Lambert gave such an exceptional and unique performance. He has the skill to pull off this character, and he is great fun to watch!
This movie disturbed the hell out of me as a kid. The death of the baby ape, the death of Tarzan's parents...the death of Silverbeard! It's just so brutal!
It's a visually frightetnning film because it's so realistic. Certain parts of the African jungle are far from pretty and absolutely deadly; Victorian England was often a dreary repressive place regardless of what class you belonged to. The repeated loss of loved ones works thematically in tandem with the settings. It's a tragic film you won't enjoy much, but which you'll definitely remember.
Its a best Tarzan movie ever in my opinion
Welcome to the jungle, Manda. 🦍
i was 8 when i saw it,, and i just remember the bed scene jajajajaja
“You’ve got a lot to learn..Jungle Man.”
No..you do.
Whether it's in the African Jungle or in Scotland, Tarzan defends the defenseless.
Amen to that.
That’s our modo
Lambert has such a amazing "scowl".
I've decided I'm going to say "ugh ugh" way more often.
When a Jungle Man is more mature than a Civilian Man
When I saw this as a very young child roughly 25 years ago I was seriously stunned by how somebody could jump down from so high and I was also amazed by the "amazing speed" at which Tarzan grabbed the whip. It didn't look so impressive now anymore, though :P
I thought the jump stunt was more splendid.
The jump is still epic
Mr Clayton showed much restraint here, especially considering earlier in the film he leven a man over his shoulders and broke his skeleton in half.
02:18 Reckoning on Johnny's part
"You've got a lot to learn, jungleman" is my favourite insult but I have to be careful who I use it against.
They love it ❤️
I bet he crapped his pants
Is it true that Andie McDowell's voice was dubbed by Glenn Close?
Yeah, McDowell couldn't do a British accent but she's great actress aside her beauty, so rather than recasting her, she was dubbed by Glenn Close who extensively tried to keep within McDowell's performance in the voice.
No, that is a movie myth, her voice was dubbed yes, but by Mr.T.
The actor with the tash, has played the same character his entire career.
@@LordJimUSA lol yes... bloody good at it tho
Imo Andie MacDowell is the prettiest of all the Janes but she had to be voiced by Glenn Close and she's a society Jane not a jungle Jane. So Maureen O'Sullivan is still the best Jane ever.
Maazaaa, Faazaa, FahMilee.......Ah Ah Ah Nee Maal!
That is your mada, that is your fada, that is your family, I'm telling you!
Who is Tarzan defending? Is he another jungle man?
Lochlann Doogan That’s his grandfather’s mentally challenged servant.
No, he's a simpleton, what we'd call today learning difficulties. The trouble is he doesn't look like that, he just looks like an ordinary young actor.
Funny and yes 😮
Por favor la película completa
Any questions class 😮
why in the hell was her voice dubbed
If I remember correctly, it was either the movie people thought the actress' voice did not sound intelligent enough, or that it was too American sounding. Either way, they liked how she looked but not how she sounded.
It was because of her southern twang...
La biografía de Christopher lambert
This is the most ridiculous scene in film history. The flow, the strangeness, bizarre. Why does he spank a man? Why does that guy like being petted? Why tiger sounds? Wtf
You are watching a movie about apes raising a human baby...
@@twinkthatloveslotrtrilogy7676 has nothing to do with the english gentleman and his pathetic servant. It's bizarre
@@castricv something like this could definitely happened
typical, boring, but safety guy versus adventure guy lol no chance for the boring one...
WOHO
FIRST!
+Me Gusta are you the one who posted this scene? No? So you're not first, you're second.
