Def check out the Young Guitar interview with Nemophila that was done right after their first ever live performance. It's super emotional and has the whole band in tears by the end of it. Mayu's talking voice is like an idling V12 ready to take off.
I have never liked screaming. It's just not my thing... but I absolutely love this band. Her vocals are so incredible (outside of the screaming for me) that I can forgive the parts that aren't 100% for me. Just awesome.
I completely enjoy your music reviews and insights. I went through the Japanese catalog of metal bands and just last week found Nemophila. This band fills my music needs because they are so brutal and to the point yet beauty in motion and sound. They are my favorites now.

I also thought that maybe I should play a drinking game watching some of your rock and metal reactions and taking a drink each time you say nasty. Now I just gotta watch Alan tonight to get all of the Gaijin Guys reactions. Good stuff man! I liked the point about Mayu's speaking voice. I hadn't thought about that before.
Thanks for doing more Nemophila. Once you have listened to more of their stuff, you'll realize they have actually used electronic sounds before in a few songs. This tone is also not entirely new for them--it's actually quite consistent with their approach. But they are extremely versatile, as you can see from their many covers of various rock, pop and metal songs.
I think it's fine to focus on the vocals in this song. There's a lot of other good stuff in there too, but it showcases Mayu as a unique talent. Nemophila are rapidly climbing my list of favourite Japanese bands, or just my list of favourite bands.
This has been a grower for me but I’m enjoying it now. Wasn’t the banger that Oiran, dissension and revive were. And like you I just keep wanting to hear what’s next. First Actual CDs that I have bought in years.

Which considering the number of originals that they have published to date, puts it pretty low. Which all adds up to this: Amazing band, good song, this track didn't quite fulfill the hype I had for it. Hoping that the next tracks they release might be a little more like Raitei, Sorai, or Life.
You commented on her "hair" but we know you meant her "leather." Leather is a very good look for her. And I suppose she has hair as well. Didn't really notice except the close-up headshots.
Dude great reaction! If you want to hear Mayu vocals on yet another level check out "Monsters". It has a drop of electro techo in the beginning too but it is a very clean heavy banger of a song. enjoy!
On a completely superficial note, they look really great in their new coordinated outfits. They now look like they're all in one band instead of random people thrown together in a band. Also, they purty 😂

What if Mayu is a banshee only pretending to be human?
It sounds great with headphones, but on a hifi system, it sounds like small tin can. Maybe it's just the sound engineering, these days, that just make it for headset
