That song you loved in the elevator was Koi Geba, my personal favorite. They work and still do with Money Mark who worked extensively with the Beastie Boys.
While this song is unique for AG there is an obvious comparison to be made with one group. The song is written and produced by Kenta Matsekuma, tune smith and producer for now defunct Alt-Idol group BiSH, and it shows. Call it an homage or a slightly cynical fan grab but this is a BiSH song in every way except the group name. The fact it was released at the same time as BiSH's final show makes me think its the latter. Good song from a really good group though.
Like them a lot but curious are there musicians that are part of the Atarashii Gakko! band? O do they use session musicians. Or is it a bit like Babymetal and the Kami band?
I've only seen their older live performances from before 2023 but I've yet to see them perform with a live band, and their writing credits go to different people depending on the genre. They did have a band that wrote and recorded the majority of their music for at least their first album.
The members contribute lyrics to some songs and create all of the choreography themselves. They don't play the instruments. Side note: One of Suzuka's older sisters was the lead guitarist and vocalist for the band GIRLFRIEND. Sadly a disbanded group now.
