    Installed one of these on my 7.3 excursion pulling my boat from sc to the keys in July highest my trans temps reached was 155

    @a03hug20 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    how do you bleed the trans line going to the cooler to help with oil leaking when line is removed? Or, is it easier just to let the little bit drain out?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are careful you will have minimal oil drain from the line you disconnect. you can then try and remove the cooler with the fluid still inside.

    Has anyone bypassed the radiator feed lines and just tied into the two lines in the frame ! If so what were your results? Some are saying the transmission run a bit cooler.

    Is this a bigger cooler than the one made for the 6.0?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This cooler is an upgrade to the 6.0, although the video is intended for the 7.3 the cooler itself is the same. The 6.0 will not come with lines as they are not needed.

    Just ordered mine. Using my 7.3 excursion to tow anything gets my transmission temps dangerously high. I find it remarkable that just an extra quart of transmission fluid would make such a difference. Should I do a transmission flush before or after I install the new cooler?

      Wouldn't be a bad idea!

    how many quarts does trans cooler hold

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The cooler and lines will hold roughly 1.5 QT of transmission fluid. This is a 1 qt increase over the OEM unit.

    Will this cooler fit on a 2001 ford f350 v10 since it's got the 4r100 transmission

      A lot of people have put these on their V10 super duties and Excursions and say they're a huge upgrade. I just bolted mine in and everything fits. (2001 V10 Excursion)

    drivers side hose goes to which line

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Our transmission cooler is bi-directional so you can install those lines either way safely.

      ok thanks , also i just purchased one of your trans coolers off of ebay for the 7.3 , i think i have the wrong hoses the ebay seller stated that the curved hoses for the 7.3 setup have been discontinued by the manufacturer is this true or has the seller sent me the wrong set up , Thank you

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The molded hoses are no longer being developed. The process of molding the curve caused some issues with pressure stability and we burst a few during testing. This prompted a change over to straight hoses with some additional length for slack.

      Hey Mike, we used our prototype model during filming and pulled it off the truck a few times. We apologize for any dings and dents that may be showing in the video.

  • @BlueLabelDrinker

    Sorry to say that while may be an outstanding product, the video’s instructions don’t correspond in several key areas to the architecture of at least a 2000 Excursion. Extra shrouding in different locations, less-accessible upper cooler mounts...only use this video as a rough guide!

      My 2001 Excursion worked great although I did remove the front grill and that helped me to access the upper 2 bolts, particularly on re-install. I also trimmed a supplied hose. I thought the instructions and video were very helpful.

    • @philodox7599
      @philodox7599 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you want them to make a video for every possible truck option? would you like them to do one for every color of truck so that you don't get confused? You realize that this video is free right?

    • @BlueLabelDrinker
      @BlueLabelDrinker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@philodox7599 No, but I would like them to address differences in models that comprise three years (the 7.3 was available in the Excursion from 2000 until 2002-ish) of a four-year date range.
      The video isn’t just free...it’s free advertising for Mishimoto. So it’s not like the company is doing potential or actual buyers a favor...
      Incidentally, I’m plenty happy with the product, just less-so with their instructions. You’d think the company would welcome the constructive feedback without the need for White Knights wielding snark-swords such as yourself.
      Have a good day, tho!
