    The thing is most people on here don’t understand all the technical jargon,all we want is the best picture settings that show a vibrant picture within reason.You obviously know your stuff and as a fellow Scot I wish you well.I just ordered an LG G2 55 from box and get it tomorrow for a fabulous price of £1,387 including a £100 limited promotion.

      @@micker9830 very true. My concern really is that we don't know the true lifespan of qd oled and this is technically the first iteration of it so its basically a beta test. • @marcuscole8796
      @marcuscole8796 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The panasonic will still (or again) offer the more cinematic and accurate experience for movie enthusiasts ... hence being the No. 1 choice !
      Panasonic will always be on the upper side here due to their deep and wide involvement into movie creation and studio support. No other brand tries to (and is able to) stay this close to what the director's are seeing on their mastering monitors.
      Considering every single property going along with a tv on the other hand ... the LG will (as usual) show no weaknesses whereas the Panasonic will again show some small weaknesses (app support, gaming support, no of HDMI 2.1, firmware updates, a.s.o) ... which will not be of enough importance for the mentioned specific Panasonic clientele to be disappointed with it.
      But that's (just) my own subjective opinion :-))

      The stand Phil Hinton has installed to the G2 is THE brandnew official G series table top stand developed and sold (separately) by LG.
      As you can see the stand adopts the great C series design (and replaces the ugly duck feet design of GX and G1) ... it adds swivelling and comes along with cable management covers for the tv and the stand.
      Unfortunately it provides a 4 degree leanback to the screen ... which many (including me) do not like :-(
      Right now the stand only gets supplied to some reviewers (as far as I understood) ... it is not (yet) available in shops ... but will be soon.

    • @avforums
      @avforums  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You really shouldn't use video footage on TH-cam to assess the image quality of a TV. If you are happy with your older model LG then that's great, but the G2 is a marked improvement in a number of areas over the G1 and C1, CX. Just above black is one of those areas and there is no crushed black at all. You can see that within the measurements, don't judge on video footage that is compressed to hell and difficult to expose correctly using a camera with limited dynamic range. Video processing is also a step up on the G2. You can find out more in my full written review on AVForums.

      This stand is the new G series table top stand. It replaces the G1/GX "duck feet" stand. This new stand provides swivelling, creates a 4 degree tilt-back for the screen and comes with cable management covers.
      As the previous stand it is optional ... means it has to be purchased separately. The G2 itself comes with the wall mount bracket supplied ... like G1 and GX.

As far as I’ve come to understand PS5 will be supporting "HDMI Forum Vrr" - not freesync nor g-sync. 🤔 I’m really confused about it and no one at the tv stores know the answer to my question. I’m considering buying a LG G2 this year, but only if it is fully compatible with my PS5. I don’t want a A90j because it only has 2 2.1hdmi ports - and I think 4 2.1hdmis port seem a bit more future-proof.

    • @Neutrality10
      @Neutrality10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It absolutely should be compatible. LG OLEDs since 2019 have had the accolade of supporting all forms of VRR. The PS5's upcoming "VRR" function is basically Sony just adding what's called "Forum VRR" (alternatively called HDMI Forum VRR) to their PS5. This VRR is a generic standard that comes with HDMI 2.1. This "Forum VRR" is used by consoles; it's already being used for the Xbox Series X/S.
      The other two, G-Sync and Freesync, are VRR standards that are only used by PC gamers using either an Nvidia or AMD graphics card respectively.

      At the end of the day in your own interest you have to (only) rely on what you found out yourself ... there is too many fanboys and "biased" enthusiasts out there. Although I am trying to look into all aspects, properties and developments brands are achieving ... I have to admit I am also not entirely free of (slight) bias ... although I appreciate all brands equally ... LG will always have a "bonus" on my side because they gave us (at all or as the very first): functional and affordable OLED tvs (9 years ago), 4K OLED tvs, large screen size OLED tvs, HDR & Dolby Vision (2016), DTM, HDMI 2.1 ports, great app support, a.s.o. (I am not happy with their LCD tvs tho^^) ... at least ... even if not buying one of their tvs ... they deserve any respect for what they contributed to us enthusiasts.
      If interested I can recommend my way of collecting reliable and valueable information:
      What is extremely important is: the reviewer MUST be a ISF certified calibrator ... owning the required hardware and also the (trained) knowledge to calibrate a tv to industry standards and references ... and actually measure these tvs then. There are too many "enthusiasts" out there doing reviews with uncalibrated tvs using picture modes they have no idea how accurate these are and what the mode actually does to the picture. In other words: the results of these "just enthusiast" reviewers are of no value because they are random and not traceable...
      The sources I use are:
      - this channel here^^ ... Phil Hinton (AVForums , YT channel and homepage)
      - HDTVTest ... Vincent Teoh (YT channel , also UK as Phil)
      - Rtings (USA, YT-channel + homepage)
      I wait and use all the information I can derive from all three sources ... then I kind of "blend" this information ... and as a result I am convinced having enough and especially reliable and valueable data ... for basing a purchase decision on it.

      This is not correct ... Phil Hinton measured the JZ2000 with 877 nits ... not 930 nits.
      Rtings measured the G2 with the relevant "Real Scene Highlights" using calibrated "Cinema Mode" with 1,165 nits !!!
      For the same measurement the Sony A90J achieved 712 nits (777 nits in "Vivid Mode").
      (Unfortunately) Rtings didn't review the JZ2000 because Panasonic is not available in the North American market.
      The "Filmmaker Mode" of the G2 ... seems to massively limit the brightness performance of the G2. As of Rtings the "Cinema Mode" is very accurate even "out of the box" and close to perfect after calibration.

      These are fantastic values and Panasonic (besides creating the most cinematic tvs) was always leading in peak brightness since the GZ2000 introduced heatsinks ... but the G2 is insane in comparison ... not in "Filmmaker Mode" tho (what Phil used) but in the as well accurate "Cinema Mode" ... almost 300 nits more ! ... for sure: not even in the most brightest mode the JZ2000/1500 will come somewhere close to these 1165 nits.
      Furthermore the value for "100% Sustained Window" is 190 nits on the G2 ... which (compared to the JZ1500's 143 nits) is precisely the identical +33% more brightness we see on the peak brightness side ... fact is: the G2 always is 33% brighter ... it doesn't matter which testscreen is used !
