- Part 2 of can older Marlin lever actions be unloaded through the loading gate like the new Ruger made Marlins?
In this video we look at a 1920’s Marlin 1893 30-30, a 1950’s Marlin 336RC 35 Remington, a 1980’s Glenfield 30a and a new production Ruger Marlin 1895 Trapper 45-70 to see which ones were actually designed to unload this way.

I like the last Marlin you showed me the light colored one it's really beautiful but I also like the first one too it's really gorgeous I have a Marlin 1916 she's old but I still use it

I bought the Glenfield with my yard cutting money. Somewhere around $110 out the door with a box of cartridges at the time.

That feature is a direct response to Henrys loading tube being a “safe way to unload your riffle.” Now Marlin has one too and it’s more convenient.
Henry has a lot of catching up to do, considering how old the company is and is still behind other rifle manufacturers. It's an art piece like a gold watch, but completely impractical. Know your guns before you buy, don't overpay for less features, Henry is the Apple of rifles.

I don't like the loaded tube magazine that the Henry's have.. ugly, and not as water proof.
But to each his own...
But, those Henry magazines could make a safer "house gun"....
@@arthurshingler2025 i want Henry to find a way for me to precharge my loading tubes. I wanna be able to throw a new one in for a semi magazine. It would be hilarious to carry them around like a fletcher

Because if it was known that you could do it finagling the bullet out then they bring out new modern lever action that is designed to do that.
Because it will be known that you could do it then. It just they didn't went out of their way to make it easier

While you proceed to unload it.. I’d say it does exactly what it was designed to do.. even unloading.. they may not have been worried about assisted unloading but they made sure that you could.. the next models just made it easier
I’ve got my grandpa’s Marlin Model 336 in 30.30 and absolutely love the thing. Serial number said it’s from I think 1982 and it still looks so good and the sights are dead on. Can’t bring myself to put a scope on it. I’ve got one on my Ruger Mark II 30.06 so usually use the 30.30 for close range targets. I just love the original, no scoped look.

I just got and fixed my grandpa's old model 1893 Marlin made in 1895 and chambered in a .32 win special. Can't wait to go out and shoot it for the first time.

Most lever guns are pretty cool. In fact I’m pretty sure most of those don’t eject shells the way he was trying to because the guys that made it wanted an excuse the work the action more

Great Feature!! My brother shot a hole in the floor unloading a lever gun as a teenager bc you had no choice but rack the action to unload. Hit the trigger as soon as the lever closed and killed the kitchen floor

Could you take a moose with the .35 Remington? Was it safe to go after a brown bear or a wild boar? I shudder to see people go after a sounder of wild pigs with a .223 -- even with a 30-round magazine, in breeding season there can be a couple of boars topping a thousand pounds in there tupping the sows. Their blood is already hot from challenging each other. I knew a hunter in Ohio who shot one boar and was chased by another who wanted to fight with the dead body of his challenger.
@@gordenrussell7266 absolutely 👍 that .35 Remington will dispatch a moose , bear , boar , elk … no problem 😉 as long as you keep it within its limitations with the proper load and proximity.
Ive got a beautiful 336 in .35 rem and it's impossible to find ammo for. :(
I take a Marlin 1894S 44 rem mag with the JM stamp whenever I go out for deer during gun season. I love that thing!

My grandfather owned a 38-40 Marlin. It was manufactured in 1889. Sometimes my cousin would fire it with ammunition he loaded with black powder.
A job to clean the rifle afterwards, but it was fun.

I'll take the Ruger Marlin. I've had a couple old Marlins that were nice but Ruger really did a good job.

That 1920s marlin is badass looks like a hybrid between a classic 336 and a Winchester 94
The 35 is my favorite of all times. Own two and a 444. The 35 is still taking big bucks
I got a 336 chambered in 30-30 and it is my absolute favorite rifle I own. Always dead on, never had any issues, shoots smooth, it’s all-round the best one I have
Same with mine in .32 Win. Unfortunately, I can't find ammo anymore.

I have a 1980's glenfield in great condition. One of my favorite firearms, the first rifle I bought for myself in 2014 when I was 20yrs old

I love my old Marlins but I have to say being able to unload without running every one of them through the chamber is a much safer way to do it. I'm glad Ruger thought of this.

Gotta say that the Glenfield is my favorite. I love the look of the beechwood and mine is about a 1.5 MOA rifle with the 170gr Remington Core-lokts

The marlin 1895g I bought just previous to ruger squiring marlin, will unload easily through the loading gate. It’s really handy.

I have the Marlin 1895 SBL and I absolutely love it I keep it loaded with the Lehigh defense multi projection rounds for home defense. It was the best spur-of-the-moment purchase I made because I have not seen them in the stores since I bought it two+ years ago

I have one of the glennfields and the 336 in 3030 they are both great guns but the 336 just looks so much better and will as of right now be my favorite lever action gun
My Marlin .30-30 is the baddest gun I own. Was my grandfathers, then my fathers, then mine, and one day will be my son’s. That thing could stop a rhino🔥

Even though the older marlin looks cool, it's seem handy to unload it like that then to lever it 👍🏼
Knowing the quality of the ruger firearms I already own I would definitely choose the ruger manufactured marlin. All my rugers have great fit and finish and operate flawlessly.

Hope Ruger expands the Marlin line. Always wanted a 357 or 44 Stainless. Henry makes a nice rifle as well. But a Ruger/Marlin in 357 or 44 would be sweet.

I really love the wood furniture on the 80's one but I think the intended unloading through the unloading gate makes it better

I vote Ruger as the best, large scale, US firearms company in the country. They just keep knocking it out of the park. The value you get is just unmatched right now.
