  • A lot of our roof repairs in Sydney involve low pitched metal roofs.
The ends of the roof sheets (either in the Kliplok or Trimdek profile) need to be turned up or down to stop roof leaks.
If you put a kliplok or trimdek profile roof on, it is vitally important that the ends of the sheets are turned up and down... and the right tool for the job helps.
We have found that even the 'expert' tool makers get it wrong and that the special tool that is commonly manufactured to turn down the ends of Kliplok profiles roof sheets - do not work very well.
We have to learn to make do with what we are supplied with - and we have found that the tool specifically made for Trimdek roof sheets, can also be used to turn down Kiliplok roof sheets.
We have a new channel at the Roofing Portal which gets a new video uploaded every week. Go there to get the latest Roofing related insights ..... @roofingportal

Trying to find where the water is coming from in our garage. The top plate/fascia gets wet when it rains or when its cold(condensation). Its only parts of the top plate on one side of the garage not all of it. I turned down the ends and lifted some of the nails and put in screws , it seems to have helped a little but I still see some wet patches. Metal Garage is about 30 years old so nto sure where to start.

if its trim deck you nee to cut off the front corner of the underlap, that runs into the gutter, about 10mm on a 45 degree, happy days

Absolute no need for a mess of silicone , the tanking down of the sheet stop what is called "capillary action" were the water run back underneath roof sheeting laid at very low degrees.
If not Tanked down/Turned down as shown in video, the water simply , due to what science, refer to as, capillary action, water can and will run back underneath the sheet and into cavity's or down the wall face of building.
The tanking down acts as a drip, and all water simply run into the gutter, fail to tank down the sheet, then prepare for failure, as you will have serious damp problems in a very short time.
Leave the silicone mess out of it , not only does it end up a mess , but it nearly impossible to get a silicone gun under the sheet with the gutter in place.
