I can guarantee if you use hoz and COH you will max resists with anni and torch. Use dracs and highlords or catseye. Goblin toes and gface for your CB. Belt doesn't really matter but THUNDER gods, raven frost and dwarf give you plenty of absord. Love most of your vids but I don't get this. This build cost 30 HRs and in my opinion isn't as a strong as the cookie cutter zealot. Dracs, gface, coh, grief, hoz, highlords/catseye, goblin, raven, leech ring, anni, torch, random charms. I mean why run like 20 or 30fcr? I get you have enigma but don't really use it. You have this built like your going to mf with no mf. Just don't get the enigma if your not mfing on a physical char COH has skills leech mad res just too good. Well catch you next vid
HoZ is not worth it. Exile is a much better option, especially cause it allows us to get lifetap other than gloves. Also HoZ is more a pvp shield or safety shield for resist stacking. If more people comment about HoZ ill go into details, but you can also see my older video "items not worth using" and read some comments or see the HoZ shield part there COH is never worth it, just go with fortitude if you dont like enigma. Dracs are fine, but they are less damage and stats than all other options in the video. Its not worth it, unless you cant afford a exile. Goblin toes on boots are fine sure, go with if if you want, I just wanted the more def from upped gores. We dont need all the standard safety gear at this gear level. I didn't show teleporting much in this video due to time, I edited out a larger part of the gameplay. Trust me, you want some FCR + FCR at 30 is nice just to have to get was it 2nd FCR pala BP, If you aint using wizzy + spirit switch or use CTA which I also dont recommend using, cause life from CTA is not a need. MF? This gear setup is tailored towards the higheste PvM general setup you can have. I have no interest in MF in this build, noir would it make a good one. Enigma, if you dont know, first of all insane FRW and then comes the teleport part, which makes it default the best PvM and pvp armor for any melee build. @@Djuntas you are using grief. +% damage does not effect the +400 so +300% damage from fort will make a +100 damage difference. CoH has skills that fort doesn't have, LL and resistance that fort doesn't have. Plus DR. If you are going for movement speed you have vigor AND charge so what's the point? The whole point of using enigma is to travel fast to bosses to mf or pump strength on a chars with low strength reqs for more health. If you are not mfing then why care about tele and increase move speed? Your rings and ammy are all "safety items." And I have seen your video and disagree. However hoz is not worth it I am not sure. Your the only one in the community who ive heard say that. If you have 10% + ll and lifetap gloves why use a shield just for lifetap? Would you rather waste a shield or gloves for lifetap? Gloves give you less utility. You arent hitting any decent fcr breakpoints with a ring and an ammy. I just don't understand this build. Cheers
Oh, aint it only smite thats not effected by fortitude, phoniex etc? I thought Zeal was getting the full damage always, smite only having dmg boosted from your weapon's stats aka griefs like 50 dmg. We use Enigma in PvM just for general travel also. Its always good to have, I dont like any builds without teleport, but I see your point :) We use Exile not all the time, so some leech is fun to have so you can own players1-4 with phoniex shield. Else Exile on players 4+ or some, and then I dont need draculs gloves so I can use CB gloves which gives great stats. Gloves, rings also makes me able to cap resist which is just one more way to make it the best setup.
@@Djuntas well maybe you're right dude! I'm not sure. I always thought +flat damage was unaffected by %dmg. We should try to get another opinion on this. I thought that's why grief in a weapon with more base damage got more increase from fortitude. I love fortitude but in my experience a good CoH on a merc and physical player is unmatched. Like if you don't have LL on a merc weapon and only 8-10% on a helm (reduced by 1/4 in hell) that's so little LL that it cannot keep them alive at higher player levels. If you get an extra 8% from CoH on a merc they have double what they would normally have for LL. Of course if you are not using a merc for damage, if you are fort is a must. I'm not a fort fan and love high walk/run on physical fighters. The LL added from CoH on a zealot is like 100+ life per attack which is so much! Love your vids man keep pumping them out
You won't tap as often as you'd think with just dracs, so in my opinion, exile is acceptable. But hoz is still used interchangeably in pvm and pvp, but is way better suited for pvp due to tap being BM. Edit: General rule of thumb PVP - Enigma / Fort (if you don't care about tele) PVM - Fort Uber - CoH Fort gives way more damage. Zealer don't need the +2 skills and resistances as long as they have max resist elsewhere. CoH all the way for ubers 100% Edit again: I would personally use enigma for everything tbh lol just because it's so convenient. Unless it's specifically for ubers, then I'd go coh.. maybe.. it's just, you can always reach close to the same result using enigma, so why not?
This is my current setup: COA (IAS/EDx2), Highlord, Forti (Archon), Death (Eth BA), Upped HOZ+PDiamond, 2xRavenfrost, Gore Riders, Laying of Hands and String of Ears. Merc: Classic Travincal setup (since I farm the council with this Pala): Kira+RAL, Eth. GA+RAL, Eth Reaper's Toll+Shael
its defiantly fine, but I will always encourage you to use gullis helm and grief PB. Both items are just so OP. Shield choice I dont care much about, hoz is OK but I prefer exile over it :)
Why you care so much about attack rating? Grief has "Ignore target defense" meaning you have a 95% chance of hitting all targets except elite magical monsters and bosses. And you can handle bosses with smite which hits all the time regardless of attack rating. Besides, if you want extra attack rating you can always use enchant off a Demon limb.
Hope people can suggest improvements. Back in my old guide I also did suggest steelrend gloves, they are rather nice if you cant get some good CB gloves. Also RIP 30 mins, their was much cover sorry :D
As I talked about in stats 2.000 life is more than enough when you are at such a high gear level. It would be something else if I was undegeared :) Also kinda how I build my barb, points into Str for more damage, rather than life that won't be needed.
I have made a paladin with Schafer's (for static) and mercenary with might aura and concentration weapon. He is killing things fast and have no interrupt problems.
This aint even near perfect build for pvm. You also run all the time so that defense you get from defiance is rendered to 0 so why even bother with defense. you should run when you travel and when you fight you should be walking.
That phoenix shield gameplay where you were dying, you didn't have holy shield on. Otherwise, you wouldn't have that much trouble. I tried a zealot with a phoenix and it worked. Please, retry players 8 with pheonix and holy shield on. :)
I’m new to diablo 2 so sry for asking this but what’s creating the flames when u attack i don’t see u switching skills so is it an item that u equip that does that?
why not go with duel phoenix and a 3 socket helm with fire rainbow jewels in it? the firestorm from the phoenix and torch would be 85% chance to cast and lvl 54 also with + to all skills I'm sure the damage would be over the top :) keep in mind u would have -71 fire resist to enemies.
Erhm, the firestorm proc from torch and phoenix is different im quit sure? Anyway it does not do a lot of damage, and you would loose out on huge damage from grief and gui helm. Also phoenix proc is annoying to live with sadly, it interrupts you :(

What about using Death runeword ethereal Berserker Axe? The damage might be lower than Grief but you will be able to reach 100% chance for both deadly strike and crushing blow with Death. Also, berserker axe as more range than phaseblade, its good for pvp.
Is the gloves and belt bugged or something? I've never seen a rare item with open wounds mod on it. Is it a blood crafted? The text looks yellow. Also how did you get blood gloves without the static life leech mod on it? =S
Both gloves should be all legit and based on real items I looked up back when I made the video. If I did a mistake thats to bad. Anyway belts can roll with both fhr, ll and open wounds for sure.
Many years since I have played Diablo II. But when the game was still new I did play it, and my first character was a zealot paladin. So I was thinking up the idea myself as no one in our player group had ever heard of the idea before. Zeal + Fanaticism. Attack speed boosting equipment, resistance boosting equipment and life draining. And a core element of my build was conversion (Which got nerfed a lot in later versions, which made the paladin less entertaining to play.)
I thought about making a fury druid once, but then remembered this guy exists. I'd agree he's the best pure physical damage build for solo play, although I'm sure he'd be popular teaming up with a kick-assassin and frenzy barb. Least this guy has a bit more survivability in him.
Yup, its a OK build, but id much rather make kick assasin like my riftsin, or make it into a tesladin. Fury druid is kinda like a weaker zealot paladin, hard to tell.

Is the reapers toll better then other melee stuff, like lets say pride? I mean Merc can do damage, but compared to you it is fairly low and it might be worth just skipping his damage other then CB.
I actually edited out a clip where I faced physical immunes...you're never gonna kill that stuff on players 8 for sure. Reapers toll is also the higheste merc dmg you can get on any setup.
@James Jones II Never consider it. War pike also hits a bit to slow for me. Id say its more a pvp thing if you're allowed to use mercs. Anyway reapers toll merc is crucial on any builds that dont need infinity merc, sadly not much choices.
A rare 450 ed 2 socket +skills scepter might be an improvement. Expensive, extremely expensive, but its an option. That being said I'm not to good with pvm builds.

PB cant be eth, so dont know what your talking about there. Phoniex can work, but sadly the proc ruins it, as I talk about also in part 2 etc. Belt is fine, but there are better choices if you have the budget Dont use draculs, its a bad choice. Use exile for lifetap, and then good crafted KB gloves. Dont use that runeword, gulli is way to OP Sands should never be used, gores is only choice sadly. Seraph is no good, highlords is to strong, or crafted amu but that very costly. Crowd control can be fun, but its not needed.

@@markisthegreat3432 Oh, while lvling I wouldn't worry about aura much. If you get a good weapon and leech on maybe a helm before level 75, then maybe consider might aura...It makes the merc do more dmg, fuss he leechs better, and also boost your dmg.
What is with zeal? Im lvl 20 and have 95% chance to hit, yet my guy misses a good 50-60% of his hits or more. Ill be surrounded with guys beating on me and hes just missing every atk..is itbugged?
@@Djuntas Yeah, IDK, but it definitely reminds me why I didnt find the Paladin as enjoyable as the Barbarian with double swing. Not to mention how Zeal locks you in place while the animation goes, that legit got me killed on my twinked lvl 99 paladin in Hell mode. Get stuck in the Zeal animation and cant run.......ugh.

@@Djuntas Yeah, it seems Zeal is just BROKE lol. One minute, I walk up to a single enemy and my guy is swinging his weapon like im using normal auto attack. The next enemy, he swings at with zeal. Then im completely surrounded and my guy is attacking like im using standard auto attack, then hes just standing there, not attacking at all. Then hes using zeal on some of hte targets...like what in the hell is with that skill? I walk into a pack of enemies and start trying to attack, but its miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss....like no joke, I did about 10 rounds of Zeal before my guy started hitting.......its just a BROKE skill.
hello, is this build good against the Diablo clone in plugy?? i want to know if i can kill him with that build, when i started in hell dificulty he spawned and i culdn´t kill him, (i was able to scape 4 times from him, afortunately ahhahaha), by the way you should consider fortitude and cleansing for more damage and curse/poison time reduction, because all those curses lenght in a melee character are so annoying :D
Unfortunately the pure zealot hits a brickwall once he hits hell, so he needs some top tier equipment to make himself viable. Most physical damage builds have this issue. As a budget player myself, I generally recommend the more magical based classes that rely more on their skills, such as the sorceress, necro or even go hammardinn. Least they can run around naked and still be decent in a fight.
check out kruggers video for his single player zealer... still might be high end on gear for what youre looking for but its a lot more playable and attainable than the build in this video. you really dont need half the stuff here to have an effective hell zealer... just a source of amp or decrep for the phys immunes... or a high elemental damage weapon. you can also use something elemental on switch if you can forgo CTA...lots of options here i recommend checking out single player build guides--those uploaders really understand the game and know how to balance stats that dont rely on having best in slot gear all around. djuntas guides are more for people with wealth to burn... all that stuff is just duped though that's why i play single player now, and i understand the game so much better now for it :)
Yea, melee builds sucks ass, any class/melee build does, without good gear aka runewords such as grief. Melee/physical builds are all underpowered, the worst being bow amazon's. So yea, elemental dmg as Erik mentioned is prolly a fine way to go - I did a video once named something like "Can I kill diablo with nostalgic budget items"....And yes budget was hard.
you're right in that its slower clearspeed and generally lower overall utility going melee vs caster. i also agree that physical bow zons are extremely underpowered since 1.10. One thing I'd like personally is if grief was a little nerfed or other top unique weapons were buffed a bit so grief wasnt so unquestionably the best in slot weapon for every melee. In single player i dont use grief/fort/spirit/insight even though I have plugy because i consider them really overpowered for how easy they are to make, and find the game is more interesting to me when i have more choices there. really all depends on what makes you happy in diablo..some need the highest clear speed but for others its enough to have a build that doesnt melt to nasty hell mobs. i like building both ways, but i have to admit i have a soft spot for hipster builds that are still hell viable (can clear at an okay pace). Overall, nice guide man.
whats the point in using phoenix with 30 base damage weapon i dont get it? while botd bers axe with forti and phoenix would grant us extremely high damage
Have you seen the other stats on the shield :) But in part 2 of this zealot I also talk more about shield choices. Anyhow, its not really worth using mainly due to firestorm proc.
you should take those points out of defiance and put them in blessed aim, every point adds 1% attack rating, which can save u some of those dex points, also those point put into str make no sense to me at all.
coh on a paladin? Havent heard that one before. Id never use it over fortitude, or enigma. Anywho that etheral weapon is fine for PvP for the extra range, but terrible for pvm with the repair, and also slower wsm for IAS BP.
lol no. forti armor, grief, coa, highlord amu, ravenfrost x2, dracul's grasp, exile shield or zaka at least, gorerider boots or war traveler (both add damage) but honestly a smiter with 1 point in zeal is better. I mean why even bother with a zealer? I had one when I was a noob around 2005 ish, easy for newbs... with newb items. Had a lightsabre, managed to get around the physical immunes with that. If I knew better, I would've put 1 point in vengeance and use holy fire. Phoenix is TERRIBLE on paladin, the firestorm keeps stopping his attacks. That's why it only works on amazons who have slow attack speed but need the constant mana heal

for the sword it says +400dmg but still 35 to 40 for 'one hand dmg'? I thought 'one hand dmg' already calculated everything in and was a total.. I've been living a lie, lol
@James Jones II i said it before grief works good against physical inmune normal monsters because has ignore target's defense bonus, but it doesn't work with bosses nor uniques so it will take more time tring to killing them, you can use a lawbringer sword, Act v merc equipped with it or using the unique throwing axe lacerator, i don't have reaper's toll yet, so that is the way how i face them
Yep, its a slow build, not worth making. FOH/smite in pvp is good through, but this for purely pvm is slooow. See my Tesladin paladin instead, its if not the best melee build in D2 its in the top 3.

For online play its peanuts, high runes aint even worth anything outside of first weeks in ladder reset. You are not going to be making "the best paldin" offline...at least legit ;)

My highest character ever was like lvl 70 but I used up my resets and messed him up cuz I couldnt find the gear I needed. Im just trying to figure out base stat points as Id rather not mess up again

Lol, am I the only1 who noticed that this gloves are impossible to make? Blood gloves always have life leach, but yours don't have it, that actually means "You can't make such paladin". This video is useless since most items are perfect and seem to be made in some kind of character creator or redactor.

Its for testing builds mainly, also just to...We'll, have fun and "challenge" endgame builds. As you know, well anyone knows especially on this channel (:P), that players 1 is to easy for endgame geared builds.

Djuntas its really alot of things mate.. you should more focus on the end stats and effectivness of your characters than picking items one by one.... like the most likely hacked belt( belts cant have LS.. belts are quite limited on good pre/suf.. so the best belt would be smth like 3x 40% resist,24 FHR, 60life(yeah.. thats the max) and 30str. Most likely something like dungo will be better most of the time. Physical dmg focused zealot is imho weaker than Hammer for CS cleaning or Smiter for ubers.. but ppl like to play different things so yeah.. even subpar character deserves a good guide so keep going... What i mean by end stats end effectivness? well use enigma if you like it(than i would use reapers.. decre just more than doubles your dmg.. moar dmg, less block and HR animations..) for casual pve you dont NEED lifetap and for ubers you will not have merc.. Please now count the ammount of +% dmg( str bonus, mercenary aura/s, your fana, bonus from zeal, bonus from jools) than add that 400% from phoenix.. point being youre sacrificing 33%+ deadly strike on amulet and geting a shield with 400% ed which interupts your attack:D doesnt make sense at all. Even something at first look stupid.. Higlords + spirit shield will be better for you zealot:D moar FCR you want... more skills, moar DS, moar atsd(you notice that under decre/hf), no druid firestorm.. theres much more mate.. but this for start :D im a douchebag sometimes. your response was flawless so please keep going in your guides. EDIT: i show you what i mean by counting your % dmg.. every off weapon % dmg sources are applied together so to simplify i will use an extreme scenario.. Highlords is simply +1/3+ of your physical dmg.. now the effect of adding a phoenix shield in extreme case 580 merc with pride 300 forti 40 helm 300 str 475 fana 372 zeal 2067.. adding 400 on top of that will be +1/5 and you get your attack interupted.. so everyone who sees redemtion from phoenix shield at start of the video and have knowledge of the game.. will just down vote the video in few second.. hope it helps
Thanks man! A tri-res belt is good option. I forgot about it, using one on my live fury druid actually. Im pretty sure belts can have Life steal, open wounds and 24 FHR through. I defiantly seen it before, even if it was a duped item or from googling pics now. But yes, tri-res belt would be much better. I use Enigma on all my builds really. Teleport is to good for pvm even if you aint MFing. Also As you saw, on players 8 it was kinda insane without lifetap. I picked phoniex to show it in the video, while also showing its weakness (see description where I test firestorm). In that part I also show and talk about rare shield proboaly being the overall best choice (Which is really is...RIP firestorm animation) - Then use exile for high players games. I get your point with phoniex through and good numbers. You can easily use Highlords on the build, I just wanted to experient a bit with FCR setup, but just ditch the 20 FCR, hell even the 10 FCR on the 1 ring if you want.
@@Djuntas which rare can be better? If you want amplify your dmg with shield jewelers of deflect will be the best. 40/15max.. 30/10-18 or if its for zeal dmg vs undead or demons can be good. I just want you to focus on eq alltogether.. Especialy when you say smth like have 2k life and rest str for dmg.. After that you can transfer most of the stats to ed%.. Plain 20life sc will become 5%ed for barb or 5.5 wheb using maces.. Or 10/11% for druid.. Same goes for most of the stats ingame.. Some you have to plan first.. Ias, fcr, pdr and such and find the combinations which are the best. This paladin just costs way too much for its performance and i much rather play tesladin with crescent moon pb, gf helm, treachery, gores, dracs and black flail on switch for smiting :) but dreamer is the way to go.. If you want a zealot and have lots of hrs tbh.... Smites autohit is just insane abd hammers aoe dmg likewise.... Physical dmg zealot kind of sits in a vacuum withou designation
Djuntas ok i endured more of the video.. this char obviously doenst need much keybinding but srlsy:) but.. you should have sanctuary binded on your zealot.. many of the PIs are undead and just 1pt in this aura makes wonders.. and souls have 90% DR.. doesnt matter you have billions of %ED dmg, attack speed and LL if you do 10% of dmg :D just turn the sanc aura on... as i said.. soo many things ;)
Djuntas don't have to tell me that :)) also, you don't even have 2k life on this build, and not even using dracs kinda makes it necessary to use exile. dont take it personal, this gear set up just scks. as someone already pointed out - you don't need 10k attack rating, if you are using grief, put those points into vitality, and so much strenght is also a waste, that damage "boost" from strenght is so insignificant. also why use enigma ? i don't find teleport really that useful for melee characters. if you really want that extra damage, use fortitude and switch that phoenix shit with exile. and you will never die - insane amounts of defense (hs+defiance+frozen armor proc) and life tap from exile. ;)))
If you use exile for players 5-8, you will never need more than 2k life, same thing with just players 1-4 and using life steal few %, so dont need high life, rather get more dmg. Same thing with say my WW barb where I also put points into str. You do need 10k attack rating if you want good hit % vs all targets in the game. Its a way to reach the last few area's you can improve on aka the best. But 8k is also OK. I use Enigma for kinda all my builds that aint a sorceress due to teleport and overall enigmas other stats like 45 FRW. Teleport in PvM is just to good. We dont need high defense/lifetap unless players 5-8, so phoniex was for max dmg, but consider rare shield if you cant live with firestorm proc. Cheers :)
Djuntas you do realise that firestorm proc decreases your damage output by quite a lot since your attacks are interrupted all the time, right ? and another thing - it's no secret that using grief the character screen damage output is incorrect, your true damage is way higher anyways. using exile would just mean your attacks are not interrupted all the time (which means faster attacks and more damage :)) ), and a lot more survivability due to defence and life tap. putting those points into strenght is just a waste. i'd rather have some extra survivability even if i don't need it, rather than let those points go to waste. stygian dolls will kill you easily with that amount of life and no life tap :) i don't like dying

"The best Zealot" Uses Enigma, FCR amulet, and no CBF. Drop Enigma. It's garbage for a Zealot and you won't have enough FCR to make it useful. Pick up Fortitude. Drop the shit tier FCR amulet. You don't need +skills as Zealot, and if you feel you need them pick up Highlord's. Metalgrid or a rare strength, HP, all res, skills amulet would do you way better. Just wear a Ravenfrost like every other melee class in the game and stop being awful.

You can run just as fast with low FCR past mobs, most regular PvE farm spots are easily accessed without teleport, and aside Teleport Enigma offers so much less than most other armours. Fortitude gives you better damage and defense. Stone gives you better defense. Chains of Honor gives you the same +skills and massive all res. Shit, Guardian fucking Angel makes you damn near immune to every element in the game, offers similar physical defense, better block and attack rating, AND is dirt cheap. I guess if you feel the need for +skills for whatever reason then GA gives you +1. You can upgrade it to offer like twice the defense amount as well if you want to invest the strength for it. It helps solve your AR issue, your block issue, you can invest less in DEX because of it, and put it into STR or VIT. Enigma is good. On casters who can make use of higher FCR breakpoints and don't rely on physical damage and need +skills. Zealers don't need +skills, they won't have decent FCR breakpoints, and they lose a ton of damage and/or survivability in trade. Bro, do you even play D2? Maybe you don't play players 8 or something, Idk. You should probs stick to your Hammerdin and let people who actually play Zealots or other melee classes write the guides.

I can guarantee if you use hoz and COH you will max resists with anni and torch. Use dracs and highlords or catseye. Goblin toes and gface for your CB. Belt doesn't really matter but THUNDER gods, raven frost and dwarf give you plenty of absord. Love most of your vids but I don't get this. This build cost 30 HRs and in my opinion isn't as a strong as the cookie cutter zealot. Dracs, gface, coh, grief, hoz, highlords/catseye, goblin, raven, leech ring, anni, torch, random charms. I mean why run like 20 or 30fcr? I get you have enigma but don't really use it. You have this built like your going to mf with no mf. Just don't get the enigma if your not mfing on a physical char COH has skills leech mad res just too good. Well catch you next vid
HoZ is not worth it. Exile is a much better option, especially cause it allows us to get lifetap other than gloves. Also HoZ is more a pvp shield or safety shield for resist stacking. If more people comment about HoZ ill go into details, but you can also see my older video "items not worth using" and read some comments or see the HoZ shield part there
COH is never worth it, just go with fortitude if you dont like enigma.
Dracs are fine, but they are less damage and stats than all other options in the video. Its not worth it, unless you cant afford a exile.
Goblin toes on boots are fine sure, go with if if you want, I just wanted the more def from upped gores.
We dont need all the standard safety gear at this gear level.
I didn't show teleporting much in this video due to time, I edited out a larger part of the gameplay. Trust me, you want some FCR + FCR at 30 is nice just to have to get was it 2nd FCR pala BP, If you aint using wizzy + spirit switch or use CTA which I also dont recommend using, cause life from CTA is not a need.
MF? This gear setup is tailored towards the higheste PvM general setup you can have. I have no interest in MF in this build, noir would it make a good one.
Enigma, if you dont know, first of all insane FRW and then comes the teleport part, which makes it default the best PvM and pvp armor for any melee build. Yes fortitude and COH is nice dmg/stats, but they dont have any movement :)

@@Djuntas you are using grief. +% damage does not effect the +400 so +300% damage from fort will make a +100 damage difference. CoH has skills that fort doesn't have, LL and resistance that fort doesn't have. Plus DR. If you are going for movement speed you have vigor AND charge so what's the point? The whole point of using enigma is to travel fast to bosses to mf or pump strength on a chars with low strength reqs for more health. If you are not mfing then why care about tele and increase move speed? Your rings and ammy are all "safety items." And I have seen your video and disagree. However hoz is not worth it I am not sure. Your the only one in the community who ive heard say that. If you have 10% + ll and lifetap gloves why use a shield just for lifetap? Would you rather waste a shield or gloves for lifetap? Gloves give you less utility. You arent hitting any decent fcr breakpoints with a ring and an ammy. I just don't understand this build.

Oh, aint it only smite thats not effected by fortitude, phoniex etc? I thought Zeal was getting the full damage always, smite only having dmg boosted from your weapon's stats aka griefs like 50 dmg.
We use Enigma in PvM just for general travel also. Its always good to have, I dont like any builds without teleport, but I see your point :)
We use Exile not all the time, so some leech is fun to have so you can own players1-4 with phoniex shield. Else Exile on players 4+ or some, and then I dont need draculs gloves so I can use CB gloves which gives great stats.
Gloves, rings also makes me able to cap resist which is just one more way to make it the best setup.
@@Djuntas well maybe you're right dude! I'm not sure. I always thought +flat damage was unaffected by %dmg. We should try to get another opinion on this. I thought that's why grief in a weapon with more base damage got more increase from fortitude. I love fortitude but in my experience a good CoH on a merc and physical player is unmatched. Like if you don't have LL on a merc weapon and only 8-10% on a helm (reduced by 1/4 in hell) that's so little LL that it cannot keep them alive at higher player levels. If you get an extra 8% from CoH on a merc they have double what they would normally have for LL. Of course if you are not using a merc for damage, if you are fort is a must. I'm not a fort fan and love high walk/run on physical fighters. The LL added from CoH on a zealot is like 100+ life per attack which is so much! Love your vids man keep pumping them out
You won't tap as often as you'd think with just dracs, so in my opinion, exile is acceptable. But hoz is still used interchangeably in pvm and pvp, but is way better suited for pvp due to tap being BM.

PVP - Enigma / Fort (if you don't care about tele)
PVM - Fort
Uber - CoH
Fort gives way more damage. Zealer don't need the +2 skills and resistances as long as they have max resist elsewhere.
CoH all the way for ubers 100%
Edit again: I would personally use enigma for everything tbh lol just because it's so convenient. Unless it's specifically for ubers, then I'd go coh.. maybe.. it's just, you can always reach close to the same result using enigma, so why not?

Brings back good memories of my zealot with Gfg rare weapon (attack rating, damage, ias). Loved to show it off and was sexy ok zealot PvP tournaments.
This is my current setup: COA (IAS/EDx2), Highlord, Forti (Archon), Death (Eth BA), Upped HOZ+PDiamond, 2xRavenfrost, Gore Riders, Laying of Hands and String of Ears. Merc: Classic Travincal setup (since I farm the council with this Pala): Kira+RAL, Eth. GA+RAL, Eth Reaper's Toll+Shael
its defiantly fine, but I will always encourage you to use gullis helm and grief PB. Both items are just so OP. Shield choice I dont care much about, hoz is OK but I prefer exile over it :)

Why you care so much about attack rating? Grief has "Ignore target defense" meaning you have a 95% chance of hitting all targets except elite magical monsters and bosses. And you can handle bosses with smite which hits all the time regardless of attack rating. Besides, if you want extra attack rating you can always use enchant off a Demon limb.
We'll, its just another thing to tick off the "best of the best" list. You can just roll with 8k as well.

Getting 10k attack rating just makes killing stuff with zeal a bit quicker once like act5 on hell, yes you can live with 8k through.
I have made a paladin with Schafer's (for static) and mercenary with might aura and concentration weapon. He is killing things fast and have no interrupt problems.

This aint even near perfect build for pvm. You also run all the time so that defense you get from defiance is rendered to 0 so why even bother with defense. you should run when you travel and when you fight you should be walking.

That phoenix shield gameplay where you were dying, you didn't have holy shield on. Otherwise, you wouldn't have that much trouble. I tried a zealot with a phoenix and it worked. Please, retry players 8 with pheonix and holy shield on. :)

why not go with duel phoenix and a 3 socket helm with fire rainbow jewels in it? the firestorm from the phoenix and torch would be 85% chance to cast and lvl 54 also with + to all skills I'm sure the damage would be over the top :) keep in mind u would have -71 fire resist to enemies.
Erhm, the firestorm proc from torch and phoenix is different im quit sure? Anyway it does not do a lot of damage, and you would loose out on huge damage from grief and gui helm. Also phoenix proc is annoying to live with sadly, it interrupts you :(

But actually I looked it up and the proc from the torch is actually not based off the druids spell, rather Diablo from hell.

Simply use infinity on your merc and your problem with ar will ends, reduce dexterity, teak off enigma and put coh or forti here

What about using Death runeword ethereal Berserker Axe? The damage might be lower than Grief but you will be able to reach 100% chance for both deadly strike and crushing blow with Death. Also, berserker axe as more range than phaseblade, its good for pvp.
Naah, PvM needs phaseblade. High IAS, no repair etc. It just works.
Is the gloves and belt bugged or something? I've never seen a rare item with open wounds mod on it. Is it a blood crafted? The text looks yellow. Also how did you get blood gloves without the static life leech mod on it? =S
Both gloves should be all legit and based on real items I looked up back when I made the video. If I did a mistake thats to bad. Anyway belts can roll with both fhr, ll and open wounds for sure.
Many years since I have played Diablo II.
But when the game was still new I did play it, and my first character was a zealot paladin.
So I was thinking up the idea myself as no one in our player group had ever heard of the idea before.
Zeal + Fanaticism. Attack speed boosting equipment, resistance boosting equipment and life draining.
And a core element of my build was conversion (Which got nerfed a lot in later versions, which made the paladin less entertaining to play.)

Yup, its a OK build, but id much rather make kick assasin like my riftsin, or make it into a tesladin. Fury druid is kinda like a weaker zealot paladin, hard to tell.

Is the reapers toll better then other melee stuff, like lets say pride? I mean Merc can do damage, but compared to you it is fairly low and it might be worth just skipping his damage other then CB.
I actually edited out a clip where I faced physical immunes...you're never gonna kill that stuff on players 8 for sure. Reapers toll is also the higheste merc dmg you can get on any setup.
I would expect using reapers would cancel out your life tap.

@James Jones II Never consider it. War pike also hits a bit to slow for me. Id say its more a pvp thing if you're allowed to use mercs. Anyway reapers toll merc is crucial on any builds that dont need infinity merc, sadly not much choices.
A rare 450 ed 2 socket +skills scepter might be an improvement. Expensive, extremely expensive, but its an option. That being said I'm not to good with pvm builds.

invest mostly in Zeal, Sacrifice and Fanctism. Get +10 for Holy Shield and Max out Defiance for the effect and Def Boost for Holy Shield

PB cant be eth, so dont know what your talking about there.
Phoniex can work, but sadly the proc ruins it, as I talk about also in part 2 etc.

fortitude + phoenix + last wish + gface wish 15/40 jool + laying of hands + highlord + gore rider + verdungo + 2x raven , I think that's the best setup.
sadly phoniex fucks with your attack due to firestrom proc, last wish is crap compared to griefs broken dmg, and rings can be better than raven.

What is with zeal? Im lvl 20 and have 95% chance to hit, yet my guy misses a good 50-60% of his hits or more. Ill be surrounded with guys beating on me and hes just missing every atk..is itbugged?
RNG, not sure what else to say. Look up my twink paladin as well...did a zeal one for low level :P Idk...its RNG.

Not to mention how Zeal locks you in place while the animation goes, that legit got me killed on my twinked lvl 99 paladin in Hell mode. Get stuck in the Zeal animation and cant run.......ugh.

@@Djuntas Yeah, it seems Zeal is just BROKE lol. One minute, I walk up to a single enemy and my guy is swinging his weapon like im using normal auto attack. The next enemy, he swings at with zeal. Then im completely surrounded and my guy is attacking like im using standard auto attack, then hes just standing there, not attacking at all. Then hes using zeal on some of hte targets...like what in the hell is with that skill? I walk into a pack of enemies and start trying to attack, but its miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss....like no joke, I did about 10 rounds of Zeal before my guy started hitting.......its just a BROKE skill.

hello, is this build good against the Diablo clone in plugy?? i want to know if i can kill him with that build, when i started in hell dificulty he spawned and i culdn´t kill him, (i was able to scape 4 times from him, afortunately ahhahaha), by the way you should consider fortitude and cleansing for more damage and curse/poison time reduction, because all those curses lenght in a melee character are so annoying :D
Any melee class or most ranged could kill the clone. No real issues as long as you got capped resist and lifetap from a wand or items like draculs.
Nice build. but could you do budget builds for people returning back to the game and not willing to spend the youth on trading?
Unfortunately the pure zealot hits a brickwall once he hits hell, so he needs some top tier equipment to make himself viable. Most physical damage builds have this issue.
As a budget player myself, I generally recommend the more magical based classes that rely more on their skills, such as the sorceress, necro or even go hammardinn. Least they can run around naked and still be decent in a fight.
check out kruggers video for his single player zealer... still might be high end on gear for what youre looking for but its a lot more playable and attainable than the build in this video. you really dont need half the stuff here to have an effective hell zealer... just a source of amp or decrep for the phys immunes... or a high elemental damage weapon. you can also use something elemental on switch if you can forgo CTA...lots of options here i recommend checking out single player build guides--those uploaders really understand the game and know how to balance stats that dont rely on having best in slot gear all around.
djuntas guides are more for people with wealth to burn... all that stuff is just duped though that's why i play single player now, and i understand the game so much better now for it :)
Yea, melee builds sucks ass, any class/melee build does, without good gear aka runewords such as grief. Melee/physical builds are all underpowered, the worst being bow amazon's.
So yea, elemental dmg as Erik mentioned is prolly a fine way to go - I did a video once named something like "Can I kill diablo with nostalgic budget items"....And yes budget was hard.
you're right in that its slower clearspeed and generally lower overall utility going melee vs caster. i also agree that physical bow zons are extremely underpowered since 1.10. One thing I'd like personally is if grief was a little nerfed or other top unique weapons were buffed a bit so grief wasnt so unquestionably the best in slot weapon for every melee. In single player i dont use grief/fort/spirit/insight even though I have plugy because i consider them really overpowered for how easy they are to make, and find the game is more interesting to me when i have more choices there.
really all depends on what makes you happy in diablo..some need the highest clear speed but for others its enough to have a build that doesnt melt to nasty hell mobs. i like building both ways, but i have to admit i have a soft spot for hipster builds that are still hell viable (can clear at an okay pace). Overall, nice guide man.

Have you seen the other stats on the shield :) But in part 2 of this zealot I also talk more about shield choices. Anyhow, its not really worth using mainly due to firestorm proc.

coh on a paladin? Havent heard that one before. Id never use it over fortitude, or enigma. Anywho that etheral weapon is fine for PvP for the extra range, but terrible for pvm with the repair, and also slower wsm for IAS BP.

lol no. forti armor, grief, coa, highlord amu, ravenfrost x2, dracul's grasp, exile shield or zaka at least, gorerider boots or war traveler (both add damage) but honestly a smiter with 1 point in zeal is better. I mean why even bother with a zealer? I had one when I was a noob around 2005 ish, easy for newbs... with newb items. Had a lightsabre, managed to get around the physical immunes with that. If I knew better, I would've put 1 point in vengeance and use holy fire.
Phoenix is TERRIBLE on paladin, the firestorm keeps stopping his attacks. That's why it only works on amazons who have slow attack speed but need the constant mana heal

for the sword it says +400dmg but still 35 to 40 for 'one hand dmg'?

Reapers toll merc :) Its OP dmg and breaks physical immunes.
use a Grief phase blade, but it will take you more time to kill that monster, or use lawgringer if is it an undead
@James Jones II i said it before grief works good against physical inmune normal monsters because has ignore target's defense bonus, but it doesn't work with bosses nor uniques so it will take more time tring to killing them, you can use a lawbringer sword, Act v merc equipped with it or using the unique throwing axe lacerator, i don't have reaper's toll yet, so that is the way how i face them

Not needed, see stats or other comments on life. Teleport switch is much better to have, cause you cant teleport with 30 fcr and like no mana.

Yep, its a slow build, not worth making. FOH/smite in pvp is good through, but this for purely pvm is slooow. See my Tesladin paladin instead, its if not the best melee build in D2 its in the top 3.

For online play its peanuts, high runes aint even worth anything outside of first weeks in ladder reset. You are not going to be making "the best paldin" offline...at least legit ;)

What do you mean, str is usually 156 for spirit shield or something similar....Dex is max block or AR needs, its completely individual.

My highest character ever was like lvl 70 but I used up my resets and messed him up cuz I couldnt find the gear I needed. Im just trying to figure out base stat points as Id rather not mess up again
@@Adol666 You can re-spec in Diablo 2 now a days, so no issues :) Just have fun. Hard points with gear can be risky, depends if you know your BIS.

take it slow, grind some gear on NM Mephisto, and look into crafting runewords. There are many low runes, runewords that are good.

Lol, am I the only1 who noticed that this gloves are impossible to make? Blood gloves always have life leach, but yours don't have it, that actually means "You can't make such paladin". This video is useless since most items are perfect and seem to be made in some kind of character creator or redactor.
So the video is useless because I made the gear worse than I could? Also just because you dont have the gear, does not mean others cant get close to it - I did on old D2.

Its for testing builds mainly, also just to...We'll, have fun and "challenge" endgame builds. As you know, well anyone knows especially on this channel (:P), that players 1 is to easy for endgame geared builds.

Fill me in what you would like to change :) Always open for critique, but cant use "QQRAHRAQQRWRAH" also, you need to tell me why.
Djuntas its really alot of things mate.. you should more focus on the end stats and effectivness of your characters than picking items one by one.... like the most likely hacked belt( belts cant have LS.. belts are quite limited on good pre/suf.. so the best belt would be smth like 3x 40% resist,24 FHR, 60life(yeah.. thats the max) and 30str. Most likely something like dungo will be better most of the time.
Physical dmg focused zealot is imho weaker than Hammer for CS cleaning or Smiter for ubers.. but ppl like to play different things so yeah.. even subpar character deserves a good guide so keep going...
What i mean by end stats end effectivness? well use enigma if you like it(than i would use reapers.. decre just more than doubles your dmg.. moar dmg, less block and HR animations..) for casual pve you dont NEED lifetap and for ubers you will not have merc..
Please now count the ammount of +% dmg( str bonus, mercenary aura/s, your fana, bonus from zeal, bonus from jools) than add that 400% from phoenix.. point being youre sacrificing 33%+ deadly strike on amulet and geting a shield with 400% ed which interupts your attack:D doesnt make sense at all. Even something at first look stupid.. Higlords + spirit shield will be better for you zealot:D moar FCR you want... more skills, moar DS, moar atsd(you notice that under decre/hf), no druid firestorm.. theres much more mate.. but this for start :D

EDIT: i show you what i mean by counting your % dmg.. every off weapon % dmg sources are applied together so to simplify i will use an extreme scenario..
Highlords is simply +1/3+ of your physical dmg..
now the effect of adding a phoenix shield in extreme case
580 merc with pride
300 forti
40 helm
300 str
475 fana
372 zeal
2067.. adding 400 on top of that will be +1/5 and you get your attack interupted.. so everyone who sees redemtion from phoenix shield at start of the video and have knowledge of the game.. will just down vote the video in few second.. hope it helps

A tri-res belt is good option. I forgot about it, using one on my live fury druid actually. Im pretty sure belts can have Life steal, open wounds and 24 FHR through. I defiantly seen it before, even if it was a duped item or from googling pics now. But yes, tri-res belt would be much better.
I use Enigma on all my builds really. Teleport is to good for pvm even if you aint MFing. Also As you saw, on players 8 it was kinda insane without lifetap.
I picked phoniex to show it in the video, while also showing its weakness (see description where I test firestorm). In that part I also show and talk about rare shield proboaly being the overall best choice (Which is really is...RIP firestorm animation) - Then use exile for high players games.
I get your point with phoniex through and good numbers. You can easily use Highlords on the build, I just wanted to experient a bit with FCR setup, but just ditch the 20 FCR, hell even the 10 FCR on the 1 ring if you want.
@@Djuntas which rare can be better? If you want amplify your dmg with shield jewelers of deflect will be the best. 40/15max.. 30/10-18 or if its for zeal dmg vs undead or demons can be good. I just want you to focus on eq alltogether.. Especialy when you say smth like have 2k life and rest str for dmg.. After that you can transfer most of the stats to ed%.. Plain 20life sc will become 5%ed for barb or 5.5 wheb using maces.. Or 10/11% for druid.. Same goes for most of the stats ingame.. Some you have to plan first.. Ias, fcr, pdr and such and find the combinations which are the best. This paladin just costs way too much for its performance and i much rather play tesladin with crescent moon pb, gf helm, treachery, gores, dracs and black flail on switch for smiting :) but dreamer is the way to go.. If you want a zealot and have lots of hrs tbh.... Smites autohit is just insane abd hammers aoe dmg likewise.... Physical dmg zealot kind of sits in a vacuum withou designation
Djuntas ok i endured more of the video.. this char obviously doenst need much keybinding but srlsy:) but.. you should have sanctuary binded on your zealot.. many of the PIs are undead and just 1pt in this aura makes wonders.. and souls have 90% DR.. doesnt matter you have billions of %ED dmg, attack speed and LL if you do 10% of dmg :D just turn the sanc aura on... as i said.. soo many things ;)

Djuntas don't have to tell me that :)) also, you don't even have 2k life on this build, and not even using dracs kinda makes it necessary to use exile. dont take it personal, this gear set up just scks. as someone already pointed out - you don't need 10k attack rating, if you are using grief, put those points into vitality, and so much strenght is also a waste, that damage "boost" from strenght is so insignificant. also why use enigma ? i don't find teleport really that useful for melee characters. if you really want that extra damage, use fortitude and switch that phoenix shit with exile. and you will never die - insane amounts of defense (hs+defiance+frozen armor proc) and life tap from exile. ;)))
If you use exile for players 5-8, you will never need more than 2k life, same thing with just players 1-4 and using life steal few %, so dont need high life, rather get more dmg. Same thing with say my WW barb where I also put points into str.
You do need 10k attack rating if you want good hit % vs all targets in the game. Its a way to reach the last few area's you can improve on aka the best. But 8k is also OK.
I use Enigma for kinda all my builds that aint a sorceress due to teleport and overall enigmas other stats like 45 FRW. Teleport in PvM is just to good.
We dont need high defense/lifetap unless players 5-8, so phoniex was for max dmg, but consider rare shield if you cant live with firestorm proc.

Djuntas you do realise that firestorm proc decreases your damage output by quite a lot since your attacks are interrupted all the time, right ? and another thing - it's no secret that using grief the character screen damage output is incorrect, your true damage is way higher anyways. using exile would just mean your attacks are not interrupted all the time (which means faster attacks and more damage :)) ), and a lot more survivability due to defence and life tap.
putting those points into strenght is just a waste. i'd rather have some extra survivability even if i don't need it, rather than let those points go to waste. stygian dolls will kill you easily with that amount of life and no life tap :) i don't like dying
See description, all this about firestorm etc is talked about :) You do you on life, I just know that I wont need it.

Uses Enigma, FCR amulet, and no CBF.
Drop Enigma. It's garbage for a Zealot and you won't have enough FCR to make it useful. Pick up Fortitude. Drop the shit tier FCR amulet. You don't need +skills as Zealot, and if you feel you need them pick up Highlord's. Metalgrid or a rare strength, HP, all res, skills amulet would do you way better. Just wear a Ravenfrost like every other melee class in the game and stop being awful.
Jesus, do you ever PVM? Would love to use fortitude but you need the mobility. Also ravenfrost is not needed, personal choice.
@@Djuntas Mobility for what? You can run just as fast with low FCR past mobs, most regular PvE farm spots are easily accessed without teleport, and aside Teleport Enigma offers so much less than most other armours.
Fortitude gives you better damage and defense. Stone gives you better defense. Chains of Honor gives you the same +skills and massive all res.
Shit, Guardian fucking Angel makes you damn near immune to every element in the game, offers similar physical defense, better block and attack rating, AND is dirt cheap. I guess if you feel the need for +skills for whatever reason then GA gives you +1. You can upgrade it to offer like twice the defense amount as well if you want to invest the strength for it. It helps solve your AR issue, your block issue, you can invest less in DEX because of it, and put it into STR or VIT.
Enigma is good. On casters who can make use of higher FCR breakpoints and don't rely on physical damage and need +skills. Zealers don't need +skills, they won't have decent FCR breakpoints, and they lose a ton of damage and/or survivability in trade.
Bro, do you even play D2? Maybe you don't play players 8 or something, Idk. You should probs stick to your Hammerdin and let people who actually play Zealots or other melee classes write the guides.

I know my shit and if you wanna keep up in public PvM online games Enigma is just needed, at least for my liking - Again its a personal choice, but I make big use of say Enigma on my tesladin. @@Djuntas There's no such thing as public PvE games. Not since they killed cows in 1.10. Now public PvE games are literally just follow a Hammerdin bot around and let him kill the things for you.
And, sure, dude. If you want to build a character that's obviously not optimized then by all means, use Enigma. That's taste. Just don't advertise it as "The best X you can make." Because if it's using Enigma and it's not a caster with high FCR then there are at least 3-4 other options that will be better.

@@Djuntas Firstly, your build works for you and others. Its viable. I wouldnt title it the best. Also, there are too many options in d2 to have just one "best" build. It's a 6 out of 10.
