Jim Bob's Arcade you could only do that if you ran a doom axe as your weapon. You need to run fant or conviction as your main aura. And running doom is a huge damage decrease. It would look cool though.
Jim Bob's Arcade ok - that’s not a Tesladin at that point because you’d have no conviction aura so the lightning damage you’re adding does little to nothing, but you do you buddy. Playing DBs setup with a holy freeze merc, reapers roll and conviction aura on yo pally works well or holy freeze merc with infinity and fant on your pally as it’s aura - but doing what you’re suggesting is a mess of missed breakpoints and unoptimized gear. Not to mention grief is always better than EBOTD in this build because of the raw damage you get out of it and how physical damage translates to life leech - I.e. you don’t need high life leech to have crazy good survivability with a grief so you don’t need dracs - at all. So running the gloves in the video is best in slot. Also, you’d never run a doom on a sorc...you’d run deaths fathom as it’s a huge damage increase with fcr. Sooo not sure what you’re going for there. You can play your version of the builds, but they aren’t efficient in any way really.
Jim Bob's Arcade I went back and read your comment again and I truly don’t think you understand what this build consists of...especially in a PVM capacity.
Jim Bob's Arcade I don’t even play online anymore, but I know 😂 “no one uses grief or enigma” is complete horse shit - you lost me there dude. That’s just not true. Never has been, never will be. Maybe in your circle of online friends. I play on pluggy, so single player with no PvP. But EBOTD in a dimensional blade? Easily the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard considering you can do the same thing in an ethereal zerker axe and have 3x the damage with the same ias if you’re using fant and maybe one frame less if you’re not than you’d have with a grief PB. Again, if you wanna use holy freeze - go for it. But you’re losing out on max efficiency in a Tesladin build. What YOU are describing is a hybrid holy freeze/dual dream zeal build, very similar I suppose but not lightning focused, without the ability to teleport and honestly completely unnecessary and just boring to play. On a side note - D2 is borderline unplayable without using enigma on almost all characters. Sorry to burst your bubble dude. It’s the meta and it has been for 20 years. I don’t know what else to tell you. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it not true.
@Jim Bob's Arcade Except there is a problem with both builds,When you run into packs that are immune to Shock or Cold,And this was an issue even years ago. These were a far more common build for PKer's and invariably these POS would go after players of lower level and one of the biggest reasons and or problems of Diablo II 'Griefers' one of the very few things Diablo III got right is and was the fact Griefing while it has been done in Diablo III when someone found a way to do it that bug was very quickly fixed so the Griefer no longer could do it
@@Trojanmachine69 Right? I grew up playing diablo 1 and 2 and now I can re-live my childhood fun but with more experience as a gamer. Been loving every minute of D2R
While i regret not playing it 20years ago, i was 16 when d2 released, im glad that i did start to play it now... i would have sucked so bad without all the d3 and PoE experience.
There used to be a bug where if you had a person trade you while your inventory was full so that it quit the trade as "I can't carry anymore". It would re-equip the gear and double the level of the aura you got which lead to the shock aura 1 shotting everything on the screen if repeated enough times. Was pretty funny back in the day.
One of my favorite builds. Another version is to level holy shock and use it as your main aura. This frees up the head and shield slots for other items like Griffons and either a 4 socket pally shield with 4 light facets or exile runeword. With this version you ofc use infinity on your merc. Your lighting damage (and survivability if you use exile) would go up a lot. The downsides are its more expensive, you are more dependant on your merc for infinity and your physical damage will probably take a slight hit too. A big reason your lighting damage will be higher is because your holy shock aura can go above level 30 with the right equipment and skillers in inventory.
Another excellent DB video. I introduced my 14y old nephew to D2 a few months ago and he already seems to be hooked for life (aren't we all ?). Funny thing is : he has found this TH-cam channel and must have been binge-watching your videos because yesterday when I was over there he wanted to show me how far he got already with a lvl78 Necro I gave him in a d2s file a while back (I don't like Necros but they are probably the easiest to walk through hell). While firing up his laptop and starting D2 I heard him say : "What ís going on D2 fans ? Let's jump in!" and when he identified his loot after a few Andy runs "Another Manald" came out with the Dbrunski intonation spot on. The fact I knew where he got this from (this channel) scored me some 'cool uncle' points, so cheers for that. Anyways : keep up the good work and thanks on behalf of the new D2 generation (and myself)!
Thanks so much for your Tesladin Guide, DBrunski!! I started playing D2:LoD again (for the 5th time lol) and wondered which new build I could make. My Tesladin is now 85 and doing great! Keep those videos coming my dude!
It's super expensive and nowhere near the strongest melee build. The best melee weapon is crafted or rare with 300 ed 20 ias and fools mod with amp on striking.
Super excited about D2R hopefully they release it soon trying to remember as much as possible for the game and watching lots of vids maybe they will let pc play the beta lol im just being impatient
Just a thought, it took about 2 seconds to switch amulets, and you cast just over 30 teles on the way down. Assuming the 20 fcr neck saves 1 frame (?), you're saving like 1.2 seconds in faster teles at the cost of ~2 seconds changing amulets (and a lot of tedium).
As a teen and stopped playing I'm 2004ish, highest rune I found was an ist. I got back onto playing in 2018, and dropped a Jah from pindle. Then logging back in every two month so my characters dont get deleted, last week I dropped a cham from a council member in travincal. I love this game so much that I hate it.
@@BZAD1989 It's been a while since I played, but i'm kinda hyped up for the remaster and getting back into it. I used to play a similar build. You don't need all this stuff, but is like the absolute highest end stuff, so you don't even have to put points in Holy Shock because the gear gives it to you. You can easily take a Pally with basic shopable from vendors gear through Normal with holy fire and resist fire build hit around level 35 maybe a few more and respec for Nightmare into Holy shock, resist lightening, and some points in holy shield (damage boost from salvation not worth it, and you can breeze through most og Nightmare with a shopped decent attack speed +3 Holy shock spector. In Hell because it gets so gear dependent a lower cost not very used runeword is Lawbringer (amn, lem, Ko) I think those all can drop from NM countess runs you might have to go up to Hell for Lem but you can def get it from NM forge. This can be put in a 3 HS scepter and does like 200 Fire and Ice damage with high chance to decrepify to slow everything down. This helps with lightening immunes if you have to fight them sometimes it's best to just use vigor and run by in Hell difficulty. Also Lawbringer has sanc aura which melts undead monsters. But with this set up you can def run NM Meph and NM and Hell Andy to get Hell level gear. Cheap runewords anyone can make with countess rune for body would be Smoke or Stealth. Rhyme, Ancient's pledge, or spirit in a All res pally shield, rhyme is probably the best until you find another source of Cannot be frozen because that sucks on a melee to try and do without. You can do Lore or Nadir in a helm, but i don't think they're that good. You might just want a 3 socket help with P topaz for MF or some basic runes in whatever your lowest resistance is. Or if you don't like the Holy Shock Pally you can always respec to hammerdin, zealot, or smiter once the difficulty really starts to ramp up in A3 hell (fuck ton of lightening immunes.) Sorry for the monster post i'm exciting to play, but did not get picked for alpha. Take care.
This is neat, I actually got back into D2 late last year cause I wanted to try single player and how much good gear I could farm.. after grinding for months I ended up with a similar zealer build and it kicked ass.
@@harveycardigan3340 yeah agreed. Since this post Ive played project d2 with PlugY and its great. However I'm just starting to lose my patience after not having found anything decent in over 200 Meph runs on my 500mf sorc.. Lol
After playing for a month and trading out gear I've finnaly been able to afford this build however I opted for the Last wish weapon variation with the faith act 1 merc and OMG!! Funnest build I've ever played and very effective. Also love the utility and buffs it provides to the party in public games. Thanks mate!
I like that this got 200 thumbs-up in one hour! However this is the first build-video in a while that shows a build I can't afford yet on SP, which is something that I find enjoyable, as it gives me more motivation to play, and to hunt down all those high runes while mf'ing the grail.
hello dear dbrunski.recently i finished my first auradin build but instead of being tesladin i built the firedin with double dragon, and hoj.and it really shocked me that there are not videos talking about this build and i think it's a beastly build excepting you don't have the teleport buff so it's kinda slow to make runs but very fun to play.cheers and love all ur videos!
It is definitely the strongest melee build I ever played, and by a good margin too, almost the same setup as yours. Although I've recently seen some thread on d2jsp claiming that a self cast Holy Shock with Infinity merc can beat the damage output of dual dreamer, because of how Facets and Griffon apply twice to holy shock (once to aura damage, then once upon delivery with zeal). I've read the math and it was convincing. Also it allows for more creative gear setups for stlye points. It's on my list of builds to try.
Good idea, I think i'm gonna try this one with the self cast holy shock. I got all other gear for it witch is not the case otherwise... I miss the 2x dream :(
@delosombres not even close. Conviction makes lightning better than phys in dual dreamers case (convictions breaks every lit immune in the game afaik). My single player barb with double grief forti highlord laying of hands etc. does not even come close. And the pally has more versatility with weapon choice and setups.
Yes, self cast Holy Shock was an idea too, and it really depended on the rarity of high tier runes. Basically on the forums back then, people say that the build with 2x Dream were so expensive that you might as well push further and get a top tier Holy Shock build. I imagine with the current Plugy meta, Dream might be easier to get than before and you can't always trade for the facets you want in single player.
@@90Rush I play vanilla sp with ladder runewords enabled and a muling tool. I mainly farm travs with a ww barb, mostly for runes, but I run 150ish mf. With that I'm drowning in facets, yet I haven't found a single Jah. I could cube to one, but that would be insane. Overall I think hs is way more affordable (unless if you are humanly capable of LK farming... I'm not).
@delosombres at that point I rather do a 2handed Death zerker for a fraction of the price... and still the dreamer can go afk in p8 wsk while you have a coffee...
I tried this build, and it is indeed very strong, since it mostly bypasses all immunities in Hell (the ones that remain are totally ignored). Thanks on the tip about Demon Limb ! I definitely prefer using a String of Ears, as it makes my survivability jump by a lot when farming WSK. I understand you prefer Arach's to get fast to Baal's Throne, and i agree, but for players 5+ farming outside Throne Room i feel a bit more endangered with it. Also, as for the merc, i use Fort on a Might merc, Treachery yields less survivability on him from my experience (but maybe the synergy with Holy Freeze changes that) and since i telestomp, the Raven Frost + Decrep gets me that "swimming underwater" effect. I use Cleanse aura in CS too. I activate it every time i get the Decrepify debuff, since it gets me more survivability to do that switch than keep hitting under Decrep, and similar to higher dps. Thanks again on the videos they're great ;) Edit : Also, it's quite funny that i was trying this build the morning and your video was up later that day.
Glad to see you using Enigma. I felt bad I gave you grief last (?) build video. I do love the holy freeze and decrep slow! I've been doing that for years. I actually used that combo in...I think 200...2005 or 2006 I think on Bnet. People would get pissed in baal runs because I'd decrepify and they'd be like "Amp damage, idiot!" and I just had to smh. I remember having "filler" characters that were just chatting and upping the players in the game whom were taking break from rush to chaos power level or uber trist. Some of them would occasionally look for cast off loot (Carbot's latest video definitely pokes fun at why) and even they would survive when Lister was looking their way, because he was just so damn sloooooow. Anyway, great video. I definitely didn't know you could stack dream. Pretty wicked! Gonna definitely do this build,. or rather variation. Thanks for the tech work to showcase it. Great footage. Cheers! ;)
When i was playing d2, I used to play this kind of build but with a sorceress with conviction on the mercenary. Thanks to the lightning mastery being applied twice multiplicatively, the damage output was great and melee sorceress is fun by definition :D
I would say it is superior version Fanatism Zealot for wealthy inventory) Nice build! I tested with infinity and fanatism and it was worse. So the set up you have is better than having the infinity on merc :) The good part that you also have a decent amount of MF. But the true hardcore and damage is paladin with Two handed Colossus sword sword zealot, he just melt travincal players 8. Try it!
Awesome vid, love your content. So the 2 auras stack to level 30, like you mentioned at 6:28 ? Does this work for holy fire as well. Could I possibly stack 2 dragons and a hand of justice for a level 44 holy fire? have a good one
Great guide mate. One question though... Does the 2 times dream stack up with actuall points skilled in holy shock? Giving me 15 + 15 + 20 + other skill points given by items?
No it doesn't. If it it did, everyone would do it. For some reason, in this case the +skills from the items only stack with +skills from other items and not with your native skill points. I forgot the exact reasoning for this but I read it somewhere. Although I'm pretty sure it is because it doesn't actually give +points to holy shock. If you read the item description, it actually says "Level 15 Holy Shock Aura When Equipped" instead of +15 to holy shock. So it is a separate instance. If you had holy shock from your own paladin, you technically would have 2 separate holy shock auras equipped, a lvl 30 from the item and your own aura, whatever level it is. Then the way the game handles 2 separate identical auras is the highest level overrides the other one, so if your native aura is above level 30, it would override the item one or vice versa. This is why you need conviction level over level 20 to cancel out Uber Mephisto's Conviction in Uber Tristram, if your conviction is higher than his, only yours counts (since conviction is an aura that affects both the caster and the enemies), or if you have 2 paladins using the same aura, (say for example, fanaticism) only the highest level aura will affect the party
Definitely loving the starter of this, maxing sacrifice as i level with a really sick shop mace on players 8 just absolutely, yeah. gonna go all in on this and see where it takes me.
Looking forward to seeing this. I've always preferred the zealot, and I'm thinking of building another Avenger. I did make a viable Martyr in 1.10, but it's... tough to play.
@@dude_8434 yeah. It's very powerful, but you have to have massive LL - life tap on switch is a must. I'd typically life tap, charge in and smite to stun, then destroy the bosses. Very fast, but difficult to use. Especially if you don't get enough leech.
@@jameshaulenbeek5931 since I play Zealot, I've experimented some. Fans is a synergy as you know.. I think I used Doombringer. The damage was good I just didn't have life tap, was using full rejuv potions.
I'm currently making another version of this that you haven't mentioned in the video - dual elemental aura zealot with Holy Freeze. Haven't gotten my level to the point where i can equip Dreams yet but maxed out Holy Freeze alone feels so awesome already, enemies across entire screen slowed by 55 percent. Using maxed Zeal without Sacrifice but with Might merc and, of course, he's gonna have Infinity on him few levels from now. Increased max resists from Resist Cold and Lightning shouldn't hurt either. Gonna be maxing Salvation last. The only downside I see from this is that my Merc won't be Decrepifying enemies, but eh, can't have everything. :)
So cool! Paladins are my favorite characters to use in diablo. I’ll definitely try this one, or at least attempt to try just because how many HRs you need lol
I started playing Plugy SP few months ago and I got mine 3rd Jah yesterday from Cows to make this Paladin. I only need a good shield base now. This build seems really smooth. ty
Great video, as always. I think there is at least one more approach to this build: you can max Holy Freeze aura with its synergy and use it as your third source of damage (light/phys/cold). It implies using Infinity on your merc ofc.
I had no idea dreams would stack and receive bonuses from synergies Been playing the game 2 decades and still learning Does this work on current ladder version?
Since he is splitting physical and lightning damage cresent because of lack of stats vs. grief is a loss. However, if you run a max plus skills build and self cast Holy shock cresent is huge. That, griffins with a facet, and either 4/8 facets between shield and armor can boost your lightning to near lit sorc levels. You will not only break every immune (I think) everyone will be at or near the -100 res cap. And you do that damage 5x with one zeal. You may need a blessed aim merc however, since you want either 3 offensive or 2/2 seraphs ammy so you cant angelic plus raven.
I tried a new self cast holy shock build on my plugy account. I'm very surprised with the result. It gets 15k damage with a crescent moon/griffins and infinity merc. It's one of the most unkillable build that I tried. Maybe the lightning sorc kill few monsters faster but it's like playing a glass canon but being a tank and a healer at the same time. I use enigma so I can use teleport obviously :P. This is very fun and your merc nearly unkillable. Since you can use Exile insteed of a Dream, the survivability of the build is among the best obtainable on any build in diablo 2.
nice to see someone using self holy shock. i compared all the strong viable melee builds in a simulator with BiS gear and self holy shocker is definitely the strongest one followed by the various dreamer versions presented in this video. in fact self holy shocker wasn't even that far behind the good casters like sorc and hammerdin. no joke!!! only problem: it is pretty much not possible to get this gear in singleplayer... here is the gear list: Weapon: Grief PB 37+ ias Helm: Griffon with 15ias/15@ jool Chest: Enigma Archon Plate Shield: Jeweller's Sacred Targe of Deflecting 40+ res with 4x light rbf [white st 40+ res for budget. Only roughly 75 base life lost.] Gloves: Magefist 1x upg or trang-ouls Belt: Arachnid Mesh Boots: Goreriders Amulet: Highlord's Wrath Ring 1: Ravenfrost 20dex Ring 2: Rare ring 10fc, 3+ Mana leech, 5+ Life leech, resists (mana) Scs: 7+ 5 allres/life scs, you might need more if you lack resists on Torch/Anni/Ring Scs rest: lightningdmg/life (the dmg from those will get increased by rbfs, but only once. A 1-71 dmg sc will do 1-96 dmg, thats stronger than 3max scs.) Gcs: Offensive Aura/life skiller Switch Weapon: Call to Arms in +1-3 Holy Shield Scepter (note that only +3 will save you some dex by bringing up Holy Shield to lvl16 for 1 extra block chance) Switch Shield: Random Bo spirit Merc with infinitiy Extraordinarily wealthy people can opt for 2pally/20fc/dex/life amu, rare gloves 20ias/dex/manaleech/triple res, replace manaleech on ring with dex or life. This will grant around +250-350 life with 10/10 trophy items, while having about equal or probably slightly less damage. You lose the deadly strike from highlords, but gain 1 skill level and probably some more lightning damage from scs, depending on the resists on the rare gear. summary: 75 fcr in main slot, so no need to switch for tele. slightly less physical dmg than dreamer versions but a lot more lightning dmg because of lvl 34+ holy shock aura (compared to lvl 30 on the dreamer), griffons and rainbowfacets in your shield, especially versus lightning immunes.
@@g0r1lla35 I suggest you try it out with exile. The freeze target mod is very underrated + all the other stuff it gives and the 2 off skill applies to the aura damage in that case. I tested this build alot more and I reach close to 20k damage with a very good defence overall (in fact the tankiest character I played lol). The crescent moon is very nice also with the munis 35 light res. The fun thing about this build is that you have alot of personal option you can choose and the build still works. It takes me a while in sigle player to get all my items. Like 1 year into plugy to finalize it.
short question, would a dragon armor on merc boost your dmg like crazy ? I mean you get the fire aura and you are running maxed -ress conviction, sooooo how about dragon and pride on merc ?
Dragon on merc is very weak. Level 14 aura without synergies is only about ~80 fire damage per hit. The only reason Dreams work so well on Paladin is because they both stack to make a level 30 aura and then the synergies from Lightning Res and Salvation boost the damage higher.
@@CeramicWeasel ye and all the - ress conviction gives + all your melee dmg multipliers and so on, these 80 fire dmg transform into roughly 5 k on a doubble dream bear sorc with enchant and firemastery its even higher, like much higher, and since you nearly deal NO physical dmg on a dreamer (compared to a zealer or smiter) i think dragon profits you much more, since you then can wear CoH or maybe Forty on your own. I mean you deal such ridiculus Damageamounts, that if the melee damage of your merc dropps you simply don't care, short said, Dragon on Merc is worth it.
What're your thoughts on Gris set and Infinity merc? I've been using d2ga and I can't tell a difference honestly except Teleport. The Gris set is super strong if you can use a Ber/Jah combo in the weapon, Facets in the rest; the Caduceus hits 5/5/5/9 at 60% (weapon + Highlords). It just missing Tele as aforementioned unless you swap somewhat tediously but the resists are there and it's super strong
The nice part about this build is being able to clear any group you come across. Personally I would go with fort so you can kill lite immune monsters quicker. I don't see the need for tele because I like to walk through chaos, world stone ect. But I still don't have Infinity so when i get it that might change my mind but I still have a javazon who needs it first.
If you make up the ias difference by using fanaticism, crescent moon provides a great option for a weapon with -25% lightning res and static field procs. It does shoehorn either a conviction aura or fanaticism on merc. And you lose the physical output from grief.
Hej Dbrunski! Great video, big fan of them all! Quick question though, if you playing plugY v1.13c, will the auras still stack given that Diablo Wiki states that As of Patch 1.14D, equipping two Dream rune word items at the same time will generate a Level 30 Holy Shock aura. So would it not be a viable or good build for a plugY 1.13c player or do I miss understand?
Ideally you would use a FOH stick with filled with facets or an Ettin Axe stacked with facets so you don't need a ravenfrost and can use full 3 piece angelics. For body armor you need to use a Jewelers 4os of the whale armor filled with facets. That's how you build a top tier tesladin.
Great video, man! Nice build, have tried with self Fana and Infi merc and it rocks. It ha like 7k Phyz damage + 7k ligh (after conva aura) - so its like 14k average. But for the best damage dealing melee i vote for TITAN 2h-Death Colossus Sword tele Pala with Reapers Merc. With Merc Aura it has 10-20k damage (15k Average) on char screen. But it also has 100%DS and 100%CB. So every hit it doubles damage (20k-40K damage) and apply crushing blow. I made some calculations on crushing blow in chaos sanctuary assuming players 8 and life pools of Oblivion knight, storm casters and Venom lords. In average every CB hit adds 2,5K damage to your damage. So the real damage is like 22k-42k in every hit. Even if we factor 33% and 50% DR which every mob has on hell difficulty you can simply oneshot Venom lord which has 15k health oh Hell players8. And thats without decrep aura of Merc:)) The main problem with that build its fragile in unskillful hands and needs hi-end gear. Also you will have problems with resists. It can be capped with charms or wearing CoA. Without G-FAce you will still have 100% Deadly strike and 65% Crushinng blow. So it's realy customizable. I can't be durable like Titan werewolf with crazy leeching, but we can add vampire gaze or Andy visage for more %LL. I would say it's definetly a top Killer. Another Setup - BotD war pike, you have almost same damage, and tons more life leech and better AR. In both cases i would max Blessed aim for passive AR increase to reach 10-11k AR. In the end we have like 20-25 free skill points after maxing Zeal, Fana, sacrifice, Blessed Aim. So can invest in some thing else for max res caps or something else. Also a top damage weapon is bybrid Death of Doom Gloriuos axe. It has 450% ED, 70% DS and 50% CB... :)) Can send you screen. Found that n JSP:))
DB! You dont need to waste 1 skill point on Cleansing! You can make runeword CTA in a scepter with + cleansing (and it can give other useful skills as well, for example +3 holy shield , or +3 redemption)
8:17 that fcr swap seems like a waste of time. teleporting to the throne take 20 teleports. Saving 20 frame is saving less than one second, which is such a small time saving compared to the time waste of swapping stuff inside the cub.
You should really try out the 113IAS TeleZealer. I think you will find that he does Baal waves just as fast with much cheaper gear. Check out DarkHumility's TeleZealer on Twitch.
With my Tesladin I am using the Crescent Moon Rune Word instead of Grief because of the extra lightning damage that it adds with the -35 to enemy Lightning resist plus chance to proc Static field on top of using an Act 1 merc with a faith bow. I am also using the Conviction aura on the Pally. It works very well because you attack faster and you can mow down mobs even on Players 8. Also I am using Dracs for the life tap proc because when you are attack very fast thanks to the Fanaticism Aura it procs alot keeping you from dying if you don't kill mobs too quickly.
I play something similar, but with holy freeze. max out holy freeze and all synergies, + sacrifice and zeal and some points go into holy shield. key items are azurewrath, nightwings, and a chest with 4 os. you will need a lot of colf facettes, because you want one in everey socket. its really nice to play. the permafreeze,no problems with any immunes due to azurewraths elemental damage.
a3 merc with ebug troll nest dream/ebug dream bv. also when talking about the skill tree helpful if u have a big window of it open using the mouse arrow to hover over which skill you are talking about like you did the item inventory
@@dude_8434 -lightning res doesn't work with mercs. Also dbrunski's tesladin has -150 lightning res as it is from conviction. Considering most monsters have 50 lightning res; they'll already be at -100 after conviction so that extra -35 from crescent moon is only going to help you in v niche cases and in those, grief might overpower it anyways because of how opie op it is
This build is not new... hehe. People ewre running that build like 10+ years ago. Dual Dream got fixed/nerfed long time ago. This is just the remnants of it sadly. Still good, but yeah. :/
You could try this with Hand of Justice + Dragon armour (Gives you a lvl 30 Holy Fire) - Still running your own Conviction. Instead of chasing physical damage you're doing Light+Fire. You lose teleport, but your auras' ticks actually add up to a fair amount of aoe damage (The Holy Fire also increases your minimum damage by a fair amount, an underrated way to increase your average damage imo). Instead of maxing Sacrifice, you max Fire Res aura, and spare points can be put in Salvation as a synergy for both Shock and Fire. In addition, you now have a character with 95 Fire and Light res, without any special gear. I used to have a lot of fun with this back in the day both running ubers and in BM pvp. Merc can be whatever (I prefer your setup with Vamp Gaze instead of GFace). Whether it's actually better than your setup, I don't know (mostly because I don't math), but it works really well.
After I make my Phoenix for the Fire sorc this is definitely on my to make list. I had one on battle net several years ago and it’s a lot fun. I’m gonna toy around with Dragon on mine as well.
Resist lightning and salvation are synergies for holy shock, which despite not being spec'd into holy shock the aura given from the gear still benefits from the synergies so he gets the benefit without having to use the aura on his active slot.
Its an interesting niche build, but the holy shock/conviction synergy was well known as a shockadin over 15 years ago. Lightning resistance is really common in the world, and I know PvP wasn’t an aspect of this build but lighting resistant/absorb is by far the easiest element to stack. Its been a long time, but I think this build falls a lot short of the traditional smiter. Typically much less gear dependent though when min/maxed would have 4k+ hp, max resists and certainly higher clear speeds. Baal with a full game would maybe take 3-5 hits? Its difficult to remember the details, but the wolf barb was probably a strong contender for the top melee builds as well. Maybe I have some of it wrong, curious to hear what others recall.
why not fortitude in a phase blade for the weapon? you get pretty good damage, you get +life, you get chilling armor, you get 200% defense, you get fcr without needing to swap, you get all resist, you get some damage->mana, whats not to love?
If you are going to swap item in your cube arent you better keeping string of ears or dungos on and swaping ur Cta for a wizspike to tp? Idk kinda weird
I read that dream was patched in 1.13 on wiki saying it doesn't stack but then says it might count as just 2 lvl 15 auras? do you have any input on that?
I really like that my Auradin's stats are tad a bit better actually heh. Was worried I was seriously screwing my build by going luxury Superior Spired Helm base that required tons of Strength but at least looks badass. The first time I spotted 2.5k hp with BO, I was like "wow, I'm sure as hell weak" but it seems like it's just a running theme on this character. I'm really tempted to run Act 1 Mercenary with Faith but damn, it's so expensive :D
What do you think about different weapon choices? BOTD for example would be cool with the dual leech and 30 all attributes, also the deadly strike of Grief is way less significant (or any DS for that matter on a dreamer), since it doesn't double your HS damage. The ITD of Grief is also less significant thanks to the high level Conviction you are rocking. BOTDz might have an edge here. I also experimented a bith with Doom, I can't ever not try that item for builds, it's pure style, although I'm sure it's not optimal. Death could be another interesting weapon, the CB on it would help a LOT vs bosses, but hitting breakpoints with it could prove extremely difficult (I don't know pala breakpoints from the top of my head... Grief + Highlord + Laying of hands standard setup made it unnecessary to ever care). Last Wish probably also has potential if Death does, but it's ridiculous price probably takes it out of the question. I don't know... I'm just tired of Grief (and I'm rocking dual Grief on my solo self found barb for months... ugh) A point you did not bring up is the Confuse proc from Dream. It is a very potent form of defense, that makes this build extremely safe in my opinion, other than the usual obvious forms of pally defenses.
Does the synergies from resist lightning go on holy shock even though you aren’t using holy shock? I know the dream gives you holy shock Aurora but does the synergies from you resist stack on them?
I used to play holy shock paladins back in the day; this build looks fun but I believe it requires the most recent patch. My plugy setup is on an earlier patch so it's probably not happening. Also not sure I have those Jah runes. Did a bit of pitrunning the other day, but playing Gris for the first time today put me in the mood for those style games. Going to play Abzu and Journey next. Gris was such an amazing experience. Maybe my drop luck will stew nicely in the off time and I'll get that Skullder's ire and Tal's armor I've been wanting for a long time.

These were a far more common build for PKer's and invariably these POS would go after players of lower level and one of the biggest reasons and or problems of Diablo II 'Griefers' one of the very few things Diablo III got right is and was the fact Griefing while it has been done in Diablo III when someone found a way to do it that bug was very quickly fixed so the Griefer no longer could do it
This is so weird. The rebirth of this and a new generation playing it, chasing builds now through TH-cam. Played it to death back then. Fun times.
You love to see it
I Said the same thing. I started playing again and am experienced the fun times all over again. This time more mature and higher IQ. It's fantastic.
@@Trojanmachine69 Right? I grew up playing diablo 1 and 2 and now I can re-live my childhood fun but with more experience as a gamer. Been loving every minute of D2R
what more surprising is people still theory crafting builds all these years later
You could stack it on your a3 merc back in the day too
@@skaarm3170 lol curse necro + phoenix and dream
Definitely gonna try this build out

Thanks so much for your Tesladin Guide, DBrunski!! I started playing D2:LoD again (for the 5th time lol) and wondered which new build I could make.
My Tesladin is now 85 and doing great!
Keep those videos coming my dude!
here because i wanna try this build when D2R comes out !
It's super expensive and nowhere near the strongest melee build. The best melee weapon is crafted or rare with 300 ed 20 ias and fools mod with amp on striking.
1 word: plugymod
@@IveBeenWithBruma what do you use for weapon to craft?
and what is that fools mod
@@kosterix123 blood zerker axes and fools is the ar+max damage per level mod.
Think while u teleporting, u appears in middle of a bosspack? The one frame can save u
Even with 200 fcr breakpoint you are not save, the teles distance is the important thing, at least in Hardcore.
great. now i need jah runes
😂 we all do anyway
iz a high rune don't jah kno
This is what I will never understand with these builds. It's unholy expensive. My highest rune drop was Gul...
Lol
The quality of these videos has gotten realllly good. nice stuff!
Glad you like them!
Yes! Love the timestamp sections on the video now.. awesome addition
After playing for a month and trading out gear I've finnaly been able to afford this build however I opted for the Last wish weapon variation with the faith act 1 merc and OMG!! Funnest build I've ever played and very effective. Also love the utility and buffs it provides to the party in public games. Thanks mate!
In a month, did you reach this build on a new character or on an existing one?
Thanks again on the videos they're great ;)
Edit : Also, it's quite funny that i was trying this build the morning and your video was up later that day.
I played this game for 5 years and have no idea what is going on in this video.
He ist using absolute endgame Gear with almost Impossible to get runes.
I haven't played D2 in ~years~, but your videos and a few other content creators still jamming this classic makes me very happy. Thank you.
Glad you enjoy it!
My favorite and forever build:
Dual Dream Pally!
Currently level 96. It can take everything with your maxed resist.
500% light damage allow easily kill mob packs on sorc, while palain havent that power over fallens :D
Also, I remember this from back in the day, but to get it decent you had to stack the Auroras by trading with someone with you inv full of charms.
ye that was the normal auradin i think that has been fixed tho
Definitely loving the starter of this, maxing sacrifice as i level with a really sick shop mace on players 8
just absolutely, yeah. gonna go all in on this and see where it takes me.
I hope you enjoy this video

Looking forward to seeing this. I've always preferred the zealot, and I'm thinking of building another Avenger.
I did make a viable Martyr in 1.10, but it's... tough to play.
Sacrifice?
@@dude_8434 yeah. It's very powerful, but you have to have massive LL - life tap on switch is a must.
I'd typically life tap, charge in and smite to stun, then destroy the bosses.
Very fast, but difficult to use. Especially if you don't get enough leech.
@@jameshaulenbeek5931 since I play Zealot, I've experimented some. Fans is a synergy as you know.. I think I used Doombringer. The damage was good I just didn't have life tap, was using full rejuv potions.
Broooo you finally made one!!!! I'm sooo happy you did. This pally is dope asFk
This is a great guide, I'll try it for d2r :) TY
I had no idea dreams would stack and receive bonuses from synergies
Been playing the game 2 decades and still learning
Does this work on current ladder version?
In hc duels anyone with an a3 merc was a fuck no for duels. They could bug stack them so high the merc aura would one shot you
Wouldn't crescent moon be better for this build tho? Or is that included in one of your 3 builds
Since you can use Exile insteed of a Dream, the survivability of the build is among the best obtainable on any build in diablo 2.
nice to see someone using self holy shock. i compared all the strong viable melee builds in a simulator with BiS gear and self holy shocker is definitely the strongest one followed by the various dreamer versions presented in this video. in fact self holy shocker wasn't even that far behind the good casters like sorc and hammerdin. no joke!!!
only problem: it is pretty much not possible to get this gear in singleplayer...
here is the gear list:
Weapon: Grief PB 37+ ias
Helm: Griffon with 15ias/15@ jool
Chest: Enigma Archon Plate
Shield: Jeweller's Sacred Targe of Deflecting 40+ res with 4x light rbf [white st 40+ res for budget. Only roughly 75 base life lost.]
Gloves: Magefist 1x upg or trang-ouls
Belt: Arachnid Mesh
Boots: Goreriders
Amulet: Highlord's Wrath
Ring 1: Ravenfrost 20dex
Ring 2: Rare ring 10fc, 3+ Mana leech, 5+ Life leech, resists (mana)
Scs: 7+ 5 allres/life scs, you might need more if you lack resists on Torch/Anni/Ring
Scs rest: lightningdmg/life (the dmg from those will get increased by rbfs, but only once. A 1-71 dmg sc will do 1-96 dmg, thats stronger than 3max scs.)
Gcs: Offensive Aura/life skiller
Switch Weapon: Call to Arms in +1-3 Holy Shield Scepter (note that only +3 will save you some dex by bringing up Holy Shield to lvl16 for 1 extra block chance)
Switch Shield: Random Bo spirit
Merc with infinitiy
Extraordinarily wealthy people can opt for 2pally/20fc/dex/life amu, rare gloves 20ias/dex/manaleech/triple res, replace manaleech on ring with dex or life.
Wow another amazing video from DB!
So badass! Support Canadian farmers!
short question, would a dragon armor on merc boost your dmg like crazy ?
I tried this except without dream. offensive aura inventory, max holy shock, conviction merc, pretty good and very versatile with gear
It just missing Tele as aforementioned unless you swap somewhat tediously but the resists are there and it's super strong
this is the best build
The nice part about this build is being able to clear any group you come across. Personally I would go with fort so you can kill lite immune monsters quicker. I don't see the need for tele because I like to walk through chaos, world stone ect. But I still don't have Infinity so when i get it that might change my mind but I still have a javazon who needs it first.
Hey, is this new thing for time stamps on time bar I like it? Nice vid by the way.
If you make up the ias difference by using fanaticism, crescent moon provides a great option for a weapon with -25% lightning res and static field procs. It does shoehorn either a conviction aura or fanaticism on merc. And you lose the physical output from grief.
Nice build, but what do you think about crescent moon instead grief here?
Got all my gear and dual dreams ready. Just lvling up my pala now.
1.14d changed nothing from a gameplay or balance point of view so you're safe.
And thats without decrep aura of Merc:))
The main problem with that build its fragile in unskillful hands and needs hi-end gear.
I have tried this two hander yes for farming travincal as a zealer. Its super deadly agreed. Never tried the botd warpike version tho
DB! You dont need to waste 1 skill point on Cleansing! You can make runeword CTA in a scepter with + cleansing (and it can give other useful skills as well, for example +3 holy shield , or +3 redemption)
If I can find one and roll 6bo in it ;)
Dbrunski125 lets do it :D i see no point making cta in crystal sword when there are scepters!
Holy.... can you do an in depth guide to this. Like a lvl guide. I want to play this just as you have it now.
Nobody: Dbrunski: “1 hard point”
8:17 that fcr swap seems like a waste of time.
teleporting to the throne take 20 teleports. Saving 20 frame is saving less than one second, which is such a small time saving compared to the time waste of swapping stuff inside the cub.
Just wondering what your AR is with that build?
You should really try out the 113IAS TeleZealer. I think you will find that he does Baal waves just as fast with much cheaper gear. Check out DarkHumility's TeleZealer on Twitch.
I am aware of this build. Both are very cool
@@Dbrunski125 Not all of us plebs have that Jah wealth you know..... lol
@@roybatty- My HR wealth has been acquired recently, during a certain lockdown :)
Do you ever play on the private server you brought up before? Would love to have builds for that version also if it is indeed a better made version
and i was accely waching 02h stream before i stopped mann DAMM respectk mann :-D
Thoughts on an auradin? Similar but different to thiss
Is this or Zealot build better?
Great video thank you
i remember times where you could stack his ability so he insta killed everything that was fun in pvp :D
Thorns so stacked it would kill anyone who stepped out of town....the open battle net hacking duels were so fun
The Auradin?
This build do more damage with fanatism or with conviction? Thank you.
Would crescent moon be good here?
was thinking the same
@@vb6427 for the player, or the Merc... Or both idk
@@dude_8434 -lightning res doesn't work with mercs. Also dbrunski's tesladin has -150 lightning res as it is from conviction. Considering most monsters have 50 lightning res; they'll already be at -100 after conviction so that extra -35 from crescent moon is only going to help you in v niche cases and in those, grief might overpower it anyways because of how opie op it is
finding new builds in a 20 year old game, keep it up man
This build is not new... hehe. People ewre running that build like 10+ years ago. Dual Dream got fixed/nerfed long time ago. This is just the remnants of it sadly. Still good, but yeah. :/
You should try Stormlash as a weapon, it's crazy good
Eth one would be better if you want to balance phys/light damages
static field procs would be amazing on it
You could try this with Hand of Justice + Dragon armour (Gives you a lvl 30 Holy Fire) - Still running your own Conviction.
Gumdrops losing tele from enigma is too much of a loss. Can’t do it.
wow all this years and I never knew you could stack 2 dreams to get a lvl 30 holy shock aura
those guides are cool and all, but how to get that lvl and get that gear?
how do you know you have max block? where do i look to see my block percentage?
Nice build.. but how it works in project diablo2 compared to others?
After I make my Phoenix for the Fire sorc this is definitely on my to make list. I had one on battle net several years ago and it’s a lot fun. I’m gonna toy around with Dragon on mine as well.
Dragon fucking owns. If i were DB i would use a Faith, or even a Doom or death.
Does aura stacking with merc increase the lightning damage with your weapon as well? Or just the radial damage?
Honestly I feel like my Zerker Barb did a lot more damage... But vs WW or Frenzy you may be correct that this does more damage.
Do you think tesladin is better than zealot?
I have a question, you maxed out resist lightning and salvation, but I never saw you use your aura. Why not?
I think you should have a charge hotkey for left mouse button to chase things like the succubi.
Do you play single or battle net and how your map i unveil?
What skill tree would you go for with fana and infinity?
For what reason do you use holy shock aura? It doesnt seem to deal much damage.
So +skills gear increases the skill level of auras from gear?
why not fortitude in a phase blade for the weapon? you get pretty good damage, you get +life, you get chilling armor, you get 200% defense, you get fcr without needing to swap, you get all resist, you get some damage->mana, whats not to love?
If you are going to swap item in your cube arent you better keeping string of ears or dungos on and swaping ur Cta for a wizspike to tp? Idk kinda weird
With the aura not stacking and just being 2 +15 holy shock is this build still good for d2r
Where is this info coming from?
U have lvl 30 holy shock to my infos??
I read that dream was patched in 1.13 on wiki saying it doesn't stack but then says it might count as just 2 lvl 15 auras? do you have any input on that?
hi sir, do you play real B.net?
What about putting a dream on merc too?
I'm just tired of Grief (and I'm rocking dual Grief on my solo self found barb for months... ugh)
A point you did not bring up is the Confuse proc from Dream. It is a very potent form of defense, that makes this build extremely safe in my opinion, other than the usual obvious forms of pally defenses.
Wouldnt Crescent Moon be better than Grief in this build?
Does the synergies from resist lightning go on holy shock even though you aren’t using holy shock? I know the dream gives you holy shock Aurora but does the synergies from you resist stack on them?
yes. that's the key of the whole build, the synergies increase the lightning damage by 320 % or 3.2x.
Ok, I always wondered that lol. Now I’ll go back and redo the build I have bc I put 20 in holy shock and put 1 in resist lol
