I was 19 when this came out. I used to drive around listening to this specific song. My friend, who was solely into punk rock, used to make fun of the opening saying he just can imagine tool fans floating around the room. That same friend passed away two weeks ago and I came here to listen to this song and be reminded of him and our youth.

October 11, 2001. Madison square garden. Four weeks after 9/11 to the day. The band starts to play the opening movement of this version of pushit, and Maynard says "take everything your feeling right now, take it home and create something positive with it". I've carried that with me for fourteen years, and in the weeks, months and years following the tragedy that robbed me of friends and loved ones, and in very essence robbed many of us of our innocence, holding on to that memory and those works is what kept the hate and anger from consuming me and sent me on the path to healing.
That's my favorite aspect of Tool, is that they are constantly evolving. Just about every time live, it gets better each time. They aren't like Metallica or The Stones, they aren't just replaying the songs for tour money. Love me some Tool. Totally agree with the OP. They know what's up. It's hard to find a band that "big" that's this down to earth and "connected" they get it. That's all.
Tonight was my new birthday. 5 years of Sobriety and I felt obligated to share this with the internet via Tool. They opened my eyes through my ears. Blessings upon blessings humans. Thank you Tool. (Kansas says Hi Danny boy.)
It's coming across comments like this, that make me realise i need to kick start my path away from my alcohol and substance abuse. I'm on the verge of tearing my family apart
"we need you to find a comfortable space, thats not only comfortable, but vulnerable. we need you to close your eyes and go there, and we'll meet you on the other side.." excellent.
It gets close, but nothing can beat Wings For Marie (1&2) for me. But I guess that is personal experience; my maternal grandfather died when my mom was 11 from lung cancer as a consequence of smoking and the chemicals they were induced with in WWII. From what I hear from others, I am almost a full copy of him in every aspect and everyone said that we would have loved each other. Wings hits home for me because Maynard's relationship with his mother is a lot like the post-mortem relationship I have with my grandfather and the way Maynard reveres his mother is almost exactly how I uphold my late grandfather. He is the only individual that has ever given me the experience of loss for someone I never met.
I most definitely agree with you. I absolutely love this song, it takes me away to a totally different place than any other tool song. I would go as far to say that it's my all time favorite tool song.
everything Maynard does is art. from the timing of the music to his magical word play. he can put all us Maynard lovers into an altered state of mind. He and his music are the love of my life. it's as if he KNOWS me
Tool and NIN, The only 2 band that can tear me down and build me back up at the same time. They don't play low hanging fruit they focus on the human condition. This music is therapy.
While I've always seen Aenema as the album where they transformed into the band they are today, I never thought of Pushit being the song right at the center of it. You may be right though. The reflective and meditative quality of this track does seem to be very present in all the albums that came afterward.
Just imagine having been at this concert and not knowing the song before hand, then going home to try and listen to the same song not being able to find it, then a while later they release an album with the very version you heard for the first time.
As far as sound it was like what you hear here on this and the rest I don't know me and all the people with me were tripping balls laying out in the lawn. It was an amazing experience
The pain and desperation in Maynard’s voice from 12:30 onwards is so visceral that it genuinely frightens me. You can tell he’s reliving certain things. This has to be one of the most powerful live vocal performances ever captured.
Pushit has been one of my FAVORITE songs for years, but for some crazy reason I never heard this version until a few days ago! My mind has been blown all over again. I can't stop listening to it, singing it, loving it.
Dannys tabla teacher, Aloke Dutta, played in this live version. As far as I know, this is the only time he's ever performed live with them. Just another thing that makes this version awesome!
@@383_mtb7 just the tabla part, the best part is when his tabla, Danny's drum and Justin bass merge together. Such an underrated eargasmic moment. Aloke must be lucky to be sitting and deriving this version.
Why tf is this version not on Spotify in 2024 I’m proud to say that Tool was the first band I got to take my wife to see back in 2020. She has been a massive tool fan ever since. The best concert I’ve been to in my entire life.
I can relate to that comment SOO Very much.. I'd probably be dead if it wasn't for this band.. I hope that you're still doing well in life Mr Olesen 👌👌
Its awesome that you have discovered this, i try to introduce as many people as I can to this band. And don't worry, it does that to a lot of us! Hope you're well.
i fell in love with the studio version, the moment i heard it. then i stumbled across salival. truely does send shivvers down my spine. if music is beautiful, then this is just magic. the most beautiful, gut wrenching, blood curling peice of music i have ever had the pleasure to here and feel.
I’ll never forget 2002 at the BiLo center in Greenville SC. I was familiar with Tool, but not really a fan yet. Tomahawk with Mike Patton was opening for them, and they all came out to perform a song, I think it was the opening to reflection, it’s been a LONG time between then and now😂 As the song began, Maynard said “close your eyes, stay connected, and we’ll see you on the other side” I can’t describe the energy I suddenly felt, and the instant connection I had with the people around me. All of our vibrations matched and I knew in that moment, Tool is my band, my connection, and my solace! Spiral out my friends
I love how the band challenges themselves and comes together with one of the most beautiful preformances ever. I feel sorry for the millions of people that will never get to hear this piece of fine art.
This is utterly mindblowing that they performed this live. Hes easily one of the greatest male vocalists of all time. The band, Adam, Justin, Danny you guys haven't been forgotten ether. Amazing, just amazing.
I fell in love with her, and I still am in love with her. Not a single day goes by where she isn’t on my mind for the majority of it. I constantly find myself thinking back on the time we spent together from beginning to end, from us driving together, to watching the sunset, to sharing music with each other, everything. Wounds are constantly being re-opened, no matter how painful it is, just as long as I get to see her in my mind again. I have sat and listened to this song at least 4 times a week, every week since it ended, as I look at the pictures I have of her while the tears just roll down my face. I’ve begun to forget what her voice sounds like, and that physically pains me. Never before in my entire life have I trusted and loved someone as much as I trust and love her. I wish and Hope for nothing more than the very best for her in her life, because she deserves it, truly. I miss you, and I love you, much more than you could ever know.
All we can do in that situation is try to redirect that love you have for your into your own heart to heal. Pull your energy back into yourself. Love yourself and feel good that you are capable of loving so much that it hurts this much. That means you have a good heart. I have felt similar the last 5 years since my ex and I parted. I still miss her. I think we need to feel that love, let it go and then move into our body and into the present and try to love our life in this moment.
I feel this same way about someone. I had to make a choice that ripped my heart apart, but in the end, I had to walk away from her. And I think of her every day and I still love her and I know she still loves me. We haven't seen each other in nine years, but we both miss each other dearly. She has communicated this with me, as I have her, through a few messages and letters. And that is a great comfort indeed. When she hears this song, I hope she pines for me as I do for her when I hear it. I hope you find your peace.
I was completely blown away by the bass line at 11:16 - The F/G adds so much to the climax of the song. My jaw drops every time listening to this section.
Old comment but i 100% agree. they did something similar on the record version of this song using microtonal harmonies like that during the peace of mind part.
Thank you for commenting this!! I was looking for this exact comment because that part made me audibly gasp and was hoping I could apply something like that in my music.
@@greeenpro2009 1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."
I became a casual Tool fan very early on. When I heard this version of Pushit, my mind was ripped open. I didn’t know that music could sound like this. This simply tugs at your soul. It’s beautiful
Frank Herrera why did he bring Jesus into it? Hey, ever noticed how some Mexicans name their son Jesus? Talk about setting up a kid with lofty expectations from the get go. Gee whiz
I think it's because it implies smoking marijuana is something babes do and choke before us doing. I always liked it, even as that type of babe. Jesus is a great teacher and scapegoat. I suggest you get to know Him. He is our saviour.
Best I can put in words: I've listened to this song hundreds of times across the decades, but there's always an element of nascence in the listening while simultaneously drawing from all previous listens. Makes me cry almost every time.
[Lyrics] (I tried my best lol) I saw the gap again today While you were begging me to stay Take care not to make me enter If I do, we both may disappear If I do, we both may disappear I saw the gap again today While you were begging me to stay Managed to push myself away And you, as well, my dear And you, as well Pushed you away, my dear Pushed you away Pushed you away Pushed you away, my dear I will choke until I swallow Choke this infant here before me What are you but my reflection? I think through the message that the convey Tool is definitely a band that can change your way of approaching life, Maynard has something special in the way speaks and has the natural ability to make you actually listen and really think deeply about life
I listened to this song daily as a 19 year old dreamer, at the beginning of my military career and then hearing it at 41, at the end of my military career….I wish I could do it all over again.
lemonlateralus Good Lord man!!!!!! There is no way Tool could’ve not only covered, but change the LYRICS!!!! Without absolute permission!! Permitted by Led Zeppelin. Period. WTF??
David Fair You’re so right. No Tool fan should neglect Salival. ‘You Lied’ originally done by a band called Peach. There’s a pic of Peach band, one of them is wearing a Tool shirt. Actually, not a bad version. But, as we all know, Tool does it better, makes it something more than it was originally...
Necronomitron Oh my God! Really??!! Didn’t even notice. I’m not familiar with Justin’s face. That’s amazing! Thank you so much for telling me, if it’s really true, that is...wow!
@@marcofurtado5459 I understand that FI is not really like their earlier stuff and I know that it definitely has devided the Tool fanbase, but you have to think, they didnt produce for 13 years. They're also a lot more mature and it is sad that they didnt make really any "heavy" songs besides 7empest, but it's still a very good album. I'd say it compliments their vast musical talent. When you look at bands like the Beatles, they changed A LOT through time and they were more short lived. Tool only has 5 albums over the span of around 30 years, all of which have a distinct style and sound. THIS is what makes tool so revered as a band that's basically unparalleled in the progressive rock genre. Sometimes less is more. When Tool decides it's time to make music, usually it's going to be something new and different, and on top of that, a rare occurrence. There isn't an end all be all Tool album (though if I really had to pick itd undoubtedly be Lateralus). So when you get more Tool music, regardless of really which genre it is exactly, it's going to be good music. Fear Innoculum, though much slower paced and much longer tracks overall, is a very good album. You just have to really take in the different elements that have been incorporated into this album, just as you do with every one of their albums. Tool is not a "rinse and repeat" band and it shows. Not churning out album after album like bands such as In Flames, who were once very good and now have fell into the "same shit different name" kind of music. I'm glad Tool does not sound the same on this as they do on another album.
Bretton Lloyd really, they’re good but aren’t even playing the same game in the same division, in the same conference, in the same league, in the same sport, in the same country, in the same planet, in the same universe
Interesting that you make the comparison to Floyd. Pink Floyd and Tool were probably my two favorite bands in high school. Then my one friend tried getting me to listen to another band but I just ragged on him. Then he bought us tickets to see this other band live, and I left thinking to myself "this is almost a hybrid between the two". Forgive me for going into uncharted territory, but that band was Type O Negative. Give em a listen.
That's most beautiful, loving, and terrifying song I've ever heard. The ending is probably the most dramatic ending of any modern day rock song. A masterpiece that gives me the chills every time I've heard for the past 25 years. Tool is the Zeppelin of the 90's and still under rated. They're still scratching the surface and I can't wait to hear what's next.
this is the very fuckin best version of this song (and since we're on my opinion)this is one of tools greatest moments.which is a bold statement in itself
I heard when they were promoting aenima they did some shows with an orchestra. A liar told me that, so I'm a tad dubious. But if it's true I'd give a testicle if someone would leak some soundboard tracks from those shows.
I remember being at a friend's apartment after the bar. It's like 3am. Him, another friend and myself. We all are huge TOOL fans and we decide it would be a great idea to ya know, REALLY listen to that Salival version of Pushit. This is back in like '03, he had the huge tower speakers and of course we gave em' their all. By the end we were melting with the energy this song emits and the neighbors were pounding on the door ready to murder us haha. Thanks for the great times TOOL 🤘
@@mattbilly455 We'll just say it was an urban area he lived in and Tool was definitely not the choice of music for the majority of his neighbors which only magnified their lack of appreciation for the moment 🤣
This version will forever remind me of my first romantic love. It was pure, it was deep and he introduced me to Tool. Words cannot describe how I felt when he left me. This song can.
A connection to every enlightened soul who has listened to Tool as if I’m feeling the emotions and appreciation of all Tool fans and what they feel listening to Tool! Probably similar to having tantric sex whilst awakening all of your chakras instantaneously then as the ecstasy you double dropped kicks in you get a rip start as you orgasm. Probably... what he said!
This song is heavily inspired by Jung, and so is most Tool songs. It has been defined such as the dichotomy between anima and animus. Seemingly you don't have the faculty, it's okay though.
This song was the anthem to my old relationship. Woulda married him if he asked. Ended in a bloody mess. Still love him but he’s a monster. This song reminds me to never return to that again. I’m glad I’m still alive.
I think this song is about killing the old version of yourself and being reborn. It’s nice that people can have their own special interpretations though
Flawless band, seriously ever single member is world class. I have seen TOOL live more times than any other band and they are rock solid every time. Love this rendition of Push It especially.
TOOL truly is more than just music. They're an entity, a pure emotive identity. And they never stop leaving us wanting more. Thank you Maynard J. Keenan, Adam Jones, Danny Carey, and last but not least Justin Chancellor. You guys give me a reason to wake up most days. There ain't no other way.
+Aaron Frantz Yes absolutely, this song is waking me up on most mornings, and the listening experience gets intertwined with the last vanishing traces of my dreams. Never gets boring, but rather gets more and more interesting on every new occasion.
This song is about going through a long and intense confrontation with a hostile relationship, a projection of one's anima, to seek purification and individuation. The narrator is now suffering with his relationship for quite a long time; he loves his partner more than anything but feels powerless to change the situation. Despite believing that has done nothing to trigger the repeated reactions caused by her insecurities, he has the open mindedness to see her perspective and to understand that she didn’t choose her feelings either. She is also suffering so “who is he to judge her or strike her down?” They have a deep but, at the same time, incompatible love, like two waves with equal energy vibrating desynchronized, only touching each other for a brief moment in time. He often sees themselves in a state of collision, they are about to start a fight that will draw them to “that place he doesn’t want to see”. He is feeling it coming, he is conscious of that and wants to avoid it by all means because if he doesn’t “they both may disappear”. However he is powerless to change the course of things; he is weak and has no control. They share life’s most important secrets, they experience pure and genuine love, they are the same and don’t know how to live without each other. That’s why they try. They try and fail over and over again and over and over again she loves him and pushes him away. He keeps on bearing this overwhelming hostility, “slipping back into the gap again” as he “feels alive when she touches him, when she hold him.” This is why he felt for so long that he must kept on fighting for their love. He couldn’t abandon her for the suffering gave meaning to his life and everything else seemed shallow in comparison. It is a selfish feeling, trigger by his anima, but with a common and altruistic outcome. Despite all his efforts, she still drags him to a mental place that completely destroys him on the inside, “somewhere he doesn’t want to be, someplace he doesn’t want to see”. He fights with all his strength to keep them both away from it but in the end he is incapable to change the inevitable. Again they are about to be pulled to “that place”. He again, like always, anticipates it. “She begs him to stay” but this time it will be different, he can’t take it anymore so he runs from the confrontation; he runs from the fight as he wants to avoid that hostile environment. “He manages to push himself away” but still feels trapped. He has no freedom for he is always cautious, always afraid of that vulnerable place, so he comes to the powerful conclusion that there can be no love in fear. Finally, after all that time of numbness and silent inner confrontation, he decides to take action. He recognizes that she is only a projection of his anima, a reflection of the ideal of his own self, and this compels him to step out of this intense but paralyzing love and seek individuation. As Jung puts it: “Every man carries within him the eternal image of woman, not the image of this or that particular woman, but a definitive feminine image. This image is fundamentally unconscious… an archetype. Since this image is unconscious, it is always unconsciously projected upon the person of the beloved, and is one of the chief reasons for passionate attraction or aversion" “Terrified, staring down the hole again” and gazing the unknown in the eyes, he is well aware of the consequences of his decision, knowing he will get nothing but suffering and despair from it. Together they are the same fragile spark in life’s darkness and he is choosing to deliberately put an end to it. This decision is much stronger than him, it transcends him for he knows he will always love her and can only hope to survive her absence.
That's a sum of my past relationship. Also I'm reading CG Jung and only now realized how many themes Tool has woven into their music. It's mind blowing
When I was a kid, and I listened to Tool, it felt like flying in the universe. It felt also lonely - nobody else around me listened to Tool. Now there is internet and I can just say HI here to you and you will say HI back to me. Amazing.
Maynard does! My favorite voice in music 🎶 ❤ I cannot wait to see Puscifer in person!! Same for A Perfect Circle. Why not see Tool again live then!! 😂❤
Love the comment. Aural love fest. Not necessarily touching, but feeling. Although Maynard is a self proclaimed asshole, the man has true soul speaking words and tone.
Yea I hear these too. Right in two for sure @Some weirdo said slong to dog so i said you jogger . Amazing hearing the foreshadowing of songs they hadn't created yet.
6:07 you still love me… this is the most emotionally deep moment as if he is reaching to God within himself to love himself and heal. A painful and deeply long and loving feeling. They made it from a song of frustration and confusion to one of healing and acceptance. A journey I am on and is why Tool has been the most beautiful thing for me to reach where I am. They saved my life and though they may never know that I am forever grateful to the entire band for everything they have given for me. I have strength now because of them and the loved ones in my life. I’ve found some peace of mind
My all time favorite Tool song is this version of Pushit!!! My blood rises from a slow 98.6 to a boiling hot fire through this 13 minutes... I can go out and lift a sky scraper by the end. It's a progression that no other band can do!! Can't wait to see them next month!
Weston McDonald thats the funniest?? Try this...an older lady was dying from cancer. She had a serious talk with her doctor about suicide. She asked her doctor what would be the least painful way to do it. The doctor hesitated but realized how grave the woman's condition was. He finally told her to shoot herself 3 inches below her left breast. Quick and painless. Well 2 days later she was in the ER with a gunshot wound to her left knee. Waaka waaka!!
“There’s no love in Fear” - Jesus (It’s actually possible to be a Christian and still love Tool. I agree with Maynard and many of their songs align with Christian principles/spirituality… Many of them don’t. However, I believe that God gave us Tool for good reason). Thank you God for allowing us to witness the beauty of this band.
VulcanKing67 I understand lol. It’s not Christ-like. But, I do literally tell evil/Satan to F off sometimes. Ironic I guess but it feels good. Yeah I could work on that area. There’s a stronghold there for sure
@@greeenpro2009 I used to swear, literally, like a sailor ( I was one) but one day I decided that was something I needed his help with and he did. Most importantly, remember that Christ loves you and will always be with you.
I agree with you and the others that replied. I'm a Christian and appreciate the beauty and gift of music. This band along with Rush are a collection of amazing musicians.
Truth and authenticity are saturated throughout their music. You'll find threads that align very closely with what Jesus was teaching, you'll also find personal accounts of suffering and abuse told with the same authentic vulnerability. It's Maynard's truth, what he's lived, that's what makes it powerful, he knows himself and can drill deep. He doesnt buy into organized religion as a mechanism to higher understanding (of yourself) and that also comes through his music.
Married 15 years. Sometimes you need to be reminded that pushing, shoving, to matter how subtle, non-violent, or well meaning is not love-it just is a wedge that takes agency from the one you love.. Don't take your partner for granted.
I loved me some Tool before hearing this for the first time, but after going through this song and all its motions, I've found a new, stronger appreciation for this one-of-a-kind band
It just elevates that climax and adds more to the guitar solo. Probably my favorite musical moment of all time. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it as well for years.
@@ronnato162 no not at all lol its all of them together but if I had to pick the one that sets the atmosphere of the song the most it would easily be danny
I'm baffled. This isn't a new revelation or realization either. I just don't understand how this bands music continues to get better after every listen. This song is insane. Pushit, The most powerful spiral of all. This hands down is their best song/rendition/performance.

2020 - still one of the most beautiful songs ever made
Facts
It’s in my search history weekly
This song changed my life in a good way it seems like eons ago now but still my favorite song. ☮️🤘
Sooooooooooo true!!!!!
After I discovered this version, no other version of Pushit exists.
I most definitely agree with you. I absolutely love this song, it takes me away to a totally different place than any other tool song. I would go as far to say that it's my all time favorite tool song.
I 1000 percent agree.
everything Maynard does is art. from the timing of the music to his magical word play. he can put all us Maynard lovers into an altered state of mind. He and his music are the love of my life. it's as if he KNOWS me
Bridget Thomas dude seriously, you knew the loss of words we all had.....

Tool and NIN, The only 2 band that can tear me down and build me back up at the same time. They don't play low hanging fruit they focus on the human condition. This music is therapy.

This song is perfection. The very moment when Old Tool became New Tool. Every album after Aenema has its roots in this version of “Pushit”.
lovelikeadrug tool changed their sound every album not just once.
While I've always seen Aenema as the album where they transformed into the band they are today, I never thought of Pushit being the song right at the center of it. You may be right though. The reflective and meditative quality of this track does seem to be very present in all the albums that came afterward.

Time heals all wounds my friend. I know. Try "Terrible Lie" by NIN

The way he sings "disappear" the second time in both verses.... Gives me chills every single fucking time. Voice of the gods.

I love me some Jesus and this song, don't blame Jesus
Nascence, yes love that.

Well, Jones does recycle his ideas through years or use some, that are ages old.
They shoulda revamped this version and put it on fear as a bonus track
This could not have been on FI or the rest of the album would sound like shit in comparison....
Its sad to know that nothing will ever be as good as Tool.

No it's not because there is Tool...don't need anything else.

He's a prophet and demigod among men.
@@ltomolo I bet you were the kid in school taking names for teacher when she was out of class
Since this image is unconscious, it is always unconsciously projected upon the person of the beloved, and is one of the chief reasons for passionate attraction or aversion"
“Terrified, staring down the hole again” and gazing the unknown in the eyes, he is well aware of the consequences of his decision, knowing he will get nothing but suffering and despair from it.
It's mind blowing
wow, hope you are alright bro, i feel you
❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Take some Love bro ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Fuck, man..
When I was a kid, and I listened to Tool, it felt like flying in the universe. It felt also lonely - nobody else around me listened to Tool. Now there is internet and I can just say HI here to you and you will say HI back to me. Amazing.
This is my favorite song ever. I can’t listen to it all the time though, because it makes me cry like a baby.
greatest tool song ever recorded
This is the truth. This song represents everything that is great about Tool. Absolutely moving performance.
i still gotta go with reflection for best song, those esoteric lyrics man, the big picture stuff to go along with the big picture music
this song truly can open ones heart
Doesn’t matter what you have gone through in life, you can relate it with this song
At the time I agree but I feel they are getting more complex ads time progresses
So so emotional
So beautiful
I cant stop singing to that
I don't care if I live in Brazil and nobody understands
Então foi vc que comprou o Lateralus na Shopee?
No one sounds this good live.
Except Tool :D
@@pythonxz and Muse :3
Tool is one of the only bands I've seen live that sound AT LEAST as good as they do on recordings, sometimes better!
@@Bob-ix9gs I think Metallica were able to pull it off pretty consistently in their prime, they kinda fell off live after black album era tho :(
Maynard does! My favorite voice in music 🎶 ❤ I cannot wait to see Puscifer in person!! Same for A Perfect Circle. Why not see Tool again live then!! 😂❤
This version is much better than the album version imo. More emotion and all that.
Maynard made love to all present that day with this version. Amazingly done.
Sabrina Fojo vom
Love the comment. Aural love fest. Not necessarily touching, but feeling. Although Maynard is a self proclaimed asshole, the man has true soul speaking words and tone.
what a gift
The intro sounds like a cross between Reflection, Pushit, and Eon Blue Apocalypse. Awesome.
Benjamin Howe nope just right in two
Yea I hear these too. Right in two for sure @Some weirdo said slong to dog so i said you jogger
. Amazing hearing the foreshadowing of songs they hadn't created yet.
I heard a little bit of H in there too!
And now descending
They all come back to Push It.
+Ted Souers It's my favorite as well. Love its slow build
Tool couldn't have done a better job with this song even if they tried
haha, "even if they tried".
Hahaha!!! Thanks Michael Olesen for the laugh, it's the funniest thing I've heard all day.
Woot Chicken niicce one! how about this one: what's the difference between a woman and a pizza? - you can have pizza without funghi
but they did try.
My favorite song ever.
Photosynthesislove Favorite song from my favorite band
+Photosynthesislove I'm in love with this song... So many memories... So many feels :')
***** Shh, gender has nothing to do with this, just good taste.
Rage King Agreed.
+Photosynthesislove Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm fuck yeah
Ive listened to this song for over 20 yrs and it only gets better with time.
'There's no love in fear.' ✌
“There’s no love in Fear” - Jesus (It’s actually possible to be a Christian and still love Tool. I agree with Maynard and many of their songs align with Christian principles/spirituality… Many of them don’t. However, I believe that God gave us Tool for good reason). Thank you God for allowing us to witness the beauty of this band.
Exactly how I feel. I just don't listen when he starts going off the deep end with too many F bombs.
I come close to slipping some time but for the most part I use clean alternatives. Good luck and God bless with your struggles. It's great to meet a fellow Christian rocker.
One of the best pieces of music ever written
I love this version. I don't understand people who dislike this beauty.
Married 15 years. Sometimes you need to be reminded that pushing, shoving, to matter how subtle, non-violent, or well meaning is not love-it just is a wedge that takes agency from the one you love.. Don't take your partner for granted.
I loved me some Tool before hearing this for the first time, but after going through this song and all its motions, I've found a new, stronger appreciation for this one-of-a-kind band
best version EVER
And best song ever :-)
Yeah (:
@Aeolanyira, this is my blog, take a look if you want : LeLamediSpadaccinoNero.blogspot.it
I love how the bass changes key at 11:16 and 11:22. Every time I listen to the album version I hear that in my head. Fucking amazing.
That! That is exactly when I love this recording so much. Thank you for noticing.
Same here!! Awesome
Was searching for this comment!
The bass line change up from the original at 11:18 gets me every time
It's so good!
It just elevates that climax and adds more to the guitar solo. Probably my favorite musical moment of all time.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it as well for years.
And to this day it’s still how Justin plays it live. Really takes that section up a notch.
11:18 should be put on a T Shirt
That bass line is just amazing
This version is bomb to get stoned to. Maynard, your music made my head, and soul Open.
Just Maynard?? Ok pal...
@@jordankelsomusic Yeah ... Adam is most responsible for the psychedelic effect.
Ah, the good ol' "Thank you to only the vocalist for providing every sound I'm hearing"
@@ronnato162 no not at all lol its all of them together but if I had to pick the one that sets the atmosphere of the song the most it would easily be danny
one of the greatest, most emotional, live performances of all time. amazing.
I literally get goose bumps through my entire body every single time I hear this it's amazing I love it and I love TOOL
I'm baffled. This isn't a new revelation or realization either. I just don't understand how this bands music continues to get better after every listen. This song is insane. Pushit, The most powerful spiral of all. This hands down is their best song/rendition/performance.
