Being a bartender and working in a brewpub myself and serving beer cocktails regularly, this is my new favourite video right away. Definitely going to try all of these. Thanks a lot!
Fence Hopper is an excellent name! I've always loved cocktail names that basically tell you what the drink is.... the long slow comfortable screw up against the side of the wall always comes to mind.
hehe... I didn't have any of the exact ingredients for the lumberjack so I used a home brew hogworts IPA, redwood empire rye, appleton gold jamaica rum, sugar cube soaked with orange angustura bitters, leftover juices from luxardo cherries and I must say... what a knock out! luv the recipes!
Rattleskull is a standard at the pub for me when im looking to drink but its also much more simple, just a squeeze of lime, shot of rum, then the porter.
I love that you make these on Friday, so I have time on Saturday to buy all the ingredients, before stores close on Sunday (Germany has that). Well, we have plenty of beer here :D
Here in Buffalo area watching the Bills/KC game with a Rattle Skull in hand. Our son’s in Minneapolis area drinking your Fence Hopper. 2 out of 3 & we’re lovin’ them. THANKS Anders. Cheers & GO BILLS!
That rattleskull looks really good. I mainly drink stout beer so caught my eye. The other ingredients sound interesting together. I really like cognac too and lime is my favorite cocktail flavor
Hey dude, you should tell the people that "non-alcoholic apple cider" is in countries other than the USA and Canada usually referred to as "cloudy aplle juice". I'm just mentioning this, since I'm from Germany and was now searching the web for approximately one hour, in order to find "non-alcoholic apple cider". Love your content, so keep going! Cheers from Berlin
Your Fence Hopper is so good. I’ve never had a beer cocktail that I thought was better than a beer or a cocktail by itself. This is one is! I served these as a pregame to parents before trick-or-treating and everyone loved them. The comment was this is so autumnal!
Man, I've been making the rattleskull every few months since I saw this video. I just made it with a nice brown ale & it's the best it's ever been. I would bring this back and make your own variations of it because you absolutely knocked it out of the park w/this creation
Made the rattle skull last year and it became one of my favorite fall drinks. Just made the fence hopper and it might just be better than the rattle skull. Thanks. Keep em coming.
Great idea! Our brewery even made a menu with a few different beer based cocktails for the annual brewery festival. I didn't like all of those, but 2-3 have been really tasty. In Germany we got "smoked" beer which tastes a bit like Islay Whisky. I planned to tinker a cocktail with this monster
I can't wait to make these, they sound so nice! Also, I always get confused when Americans refer to cloudy apple juice as cider (all cider is alcoholic in the UK!) so I appreciate you specifying non-alcoholic :)
@@AndersErickson Hey Anders what's up? I am still confused, can you help me? All I see about apple ciders are sparkling ciders (somewhat like a sparkling wine) and vinegars. The cider you use on this video looks nothing like that. Is it apple juice? Also, of these 3 cocktails, what do you think beer lovers would like the most? I don't like beer but I am throwing a party and most love beer, so I'm thinking of adding a beer cocktail in it and those last two look very good. First one too, I love the spirits, but it is more for dark beer fans right?
@@bluezapdos0 I know you probably don't need the info anymore, but he's using American Apple Cider, which is close to a cloudy, unfiltered, unsweetened, sometimes unpasteurized, apple juice (so no carbonation). Sometimes it is heated up with mulling spices to serve it hot as a winter, non-alcoholic drink. It's sold all over the US seasonally (in autumn when apples are fresh) but is hard to find in other countries labelled as cider. It is darker in color and opaque with a sharper apple flavor compared to regular Apple Juice.
My family goes to those plays every year! I knew that drink sounded familiar! Such a good play. Glad to see you incorporate the Midwest into your drinks and videos.
I have to say, you've been looking a lot happier and healthier in your videos since you left that bar job. Not that you looked unhealthy or unhappy before, but there's definitely a positive difference! Glad you're doing well, keep up the great content!
These beer cocktails look awesome Anders! I enjoy my beer cocktails from time to time too but these are huge upgrades on what I make! Thanks for sharing the recipes and the ingenuity!
Love to see you repping some of the Chicago breweries who don't see as much love outside city limits! Rev and Half Acre are great but these guys deserve some spotlight too!
Can you do an episode on whiskey like the one you did on rum please? That’s one of my favorite videos and I’m getting into whiskey now so I want to hear your perspective on the different kinds please! Love your channel btw
I just did a beer cocktail last week for a tailgate, Purdue vs. Maryland. With Purdue the choice of a boilermaker was easy, but I put a Maryland twist on it. 2 ounces Sagamore Spirit Rye, 1/2 ounce local Maryland Honey, 1/2 ounce Lemon Juice, top off with a Natty Boh. It was delicious, I must have made 20 of them. I can't wait to try one of these soon.
Found this video a couple weeks ago. Decided to try one of these for Thanksgiving. Just made a trial version of the Lumberjack In Love to try before the big day. Insanely good! Thank you!
I went to the bar had them make me a rattle skull with diplomatico it was great. I had to show them the recipe, but they were cool about it. They all had a straw test and they liked it. Thanks for the recipes.
Boy, for the Rattleskull you weren’t kidding about pouring the booze mix into the beer *carefully. Somehow I didn’t expect it to foam up so much and so fast. Fortunately I was making the drink on a clean cutting board with a gutter around it, so I was able to save most of what spilled out and pour it back into the glass.
These look fantastic Anders! Cheers for the original recipes, and for including BEER! As a home-brewer, much appreciated and very cool. Definitely going to be serving at least one of these at our family Thanksgiving this year
Do you have the "(Bourbon/Whiskey) Smash" on your todo video list? It was the drink that made me think, "hey, I should learn to make this" and I would love to see your take on it.
The city I'm from has an official beer cocktail : The Ambush 1 Oz of Creme de Cassis, 1 Oz of Calvados (Apple Brandy), 2,5 Oz of Chardonnay and top with pilsner (or lager) beer Enjoy ! Greetings from Caen, Normandy France
These all look delicious! I have to say though the Fence Hopper seems right up my alley! So much so I think I’m going to have to order some barware and make one myself! 👌
Try these this fall - you'll like 'em 🍻

Hell yeah

Had me at cock

Fence Hopper is maybe one of the best cocktail names ever invented.
Of all of your recipes, these are probably the ones I make over and over. That and YOUR version of the dark and stormy...it's a crowd favorite 🥳
Dang! I just can’t get enough of this channel.
I’ve made so many of your great cocktails… thank you!
Thank you for trying the drinks! Cheers, Patrick!
Being a bartender and working in a brewpub myself and serving beer cocktails regularly, this is my new favourite video right away. Definitely going to try all of these. Thanks a lot!

Made the Fence Hopper with Pumpkin Whiskey. It was stellar. So festive & we’re happy we had the ingredients this time! 🎉
Great choice! Happy you liked the drink!

Just once...

I did.
Tasted like Galliano and orange juice
That fence hopper was just chef kiss👌
Just made the Fence Hopper and it's PHENOMENAL! You absolutely nailed it, Anders 👍👍
Was beginning to think we were going to have a Friday without you! Going to try these!
Made it! Cheers, Sterling! 🍻
Lumberjacks in Love at the American Folklore Theatre. What great memories.
Man, I always found mixing beer into cocktails successfully was an impossible task, but all these mixes just make so much sense!
Good work 👌🏻
That's a great play. Door County rocks.

Ah, I didn’t know Germany did that as well!
Anders strikes again! Fence Hopper was great! Looking forward to the Luberjack...and Of Course LOVE The Rattleskull :)
Another one worth trying is the Flip Side. Delicious!!!

2 and 3 look actually amazing. i'm gonna try these. i really like how you often incorporate your own drink creations unlike other youtubers.

ok so it is just naturtrüber Apfelsaft. Had me confused as well.
is this cloudy apple juice just a home made apple juice? I am really confused on what to use as "apple cider"
My weekend cocktail project! Thanks Anders!
More great ideas. Great video.
Great episode, I looked for beer cocktails ages ago and most are just a spirit dropped in a beer, these actually are true beer cocktails.
"Grab your beer... Meet me here." by Anders Erickson...🍺 that will be a sing in my bar. 🍺🍻 Cheers!!!
Made the Rattle Skull with Westbrook Brewing Mexican Cake. Fantastic
Mmmmm Stout and Porters are my fall go to. Now to add a little extras. Thank you Anders

Here in September 2024 to see the Fall cocktails! They look delicious and hearty!

Ooh I've got all the ingredients for the Fence Hopper on hand! I know what's on the menu this weekend
Made the RattleSkull tonight at work - surprised at how bright it actually comes out! Great and interesting recommendation!
This is great. Love this. I have a friend that likes beer more than cocktails (generally), and so this'll be fun to see if he likes these. Nice!
