Hey Anders, so glad seeing you come up with a new NA cocktails video! I'm an 18 year old home bartender (for now) and I'm specializing myself in non alcoholic cocktails! I just wanted to share my signature recipe because of what you said at the end of your video! I called it the State of Mind: 60ml strongly brewed (twice as much tea as you normally would) black, winter tea (something with notes of spices, apples, and citrus) 20ml 100% cranberry juice 20ml maple syrup 4ml apple cider vinegar 3-4ml ginger juice Roll it 5-7 times, serve into an old fashioned glass over a big ice cube, express lemon oils, and garnish with a cinnamon stick, burnt on the tip (to consume quickly for the smoke to come to your nose). You're my favourite cocktail creator out there with kevin kos, so keep up with the great videos, and more non alcoholic things please!!
Yes! Apple cider vinegar (raw and unfiltered) for the win! Even with all the wide world of liquor options out there, ACV is still one of the best flavors in a drink, period.
I made a great mocktail recently with cucumber, mint, lime juice and ginger syrup. 5-6 slices of cucumber and 6-8 mint leaves, muddled 1,5 oz lime juice 1,5 oz ginger syrup The ginger syrup gives it a nice bit of spice and flavor to make up for it having no alcohol, it’s yummy! Also good to top it up with a bit of tonic
As someone who is 12 years sober, I really appreciate you taking the time to share fun creative mocktails likes these! I’ve lately been on an oj kick so I’ve been doing kombucha mimosas and oj based shandy with a good n/a beer like athletic brewing co.
We’re serving a mocktail of my creation that has been quite popular called the Blue Mountain Mirage. 2.5 oz Lapsang Souchong Tea, 1.5 oz Homemade Blueberry/Ginger/Cinnamon Syrup, 1 oz Pear Juice, 0.5 oz Lemon Juice. Garnish with some blueberries and candied ginger in a pick.
It's not too complex or elevated, I just wanted to say, that I drink lavander-thyme-god-knows-what tisan with mineral whater. It's kind of like the classical gin-tonic with a chill, evening vibe
Here's a little concoction I started making while bored out of my mind in my apartment during the recent snow storm that I like to call the Countertop Collins. In a chilled collins glass: - roughly a 1/4 oz apple cider vinegar - a barspoon or so of agave nectar - 2-3 dashes of angostura bitters - a can of seltzer (I've been using polar blackberry mango) Combine the vinegar, agave and bitters in a glass and stirred to combine, then top off with the seltzer. It's got a really nice nutmeg finish, weirdly enough. very tasty
I have been following your channel for a while and I really appreciate this video, I used to love making and trying cocktails but recently I had to stop drinking and won't be able consume alcohol for a while because of some meds I started taking. I'd love to see another mocktail video, keep up the great work!
My "house" mocktail is a homemade blueberry syrup, lime juice and tonic water (classic tonic like fever tree but their elderflower tonic is also good). The BLT.
These are amazing! Ended up making all of them for my sister and I (she’s been sober for 2 years!🖤) I also tweaked sereni-tea a bit after by making my own green tea and pear syrup and it turned out so good! Thank you for sharing 🤍
my dad is a recovering alcoholic (12 yrs sober, thank God!); but my brother-in-law is allergic to alcohol, and my cousin can't drink because of medications that she has to take. ..so i really appreciate discovering new fun mocktails like this! 🥰 thank you!
Hi from Paris Anders! My signature mocktail is called "Dandra Express", it is good grenadine 😉, orgeat, lemon juice and sparkling water. Garnish with a little branch of Rosemary. I also do a variation on a Shirley Temple, Grenadine lemon juice and instead of ginger ale i put Schweppes agrumes, and i call it from my daughter "Charlotte Temple" Thanks for your vidéos Rémy
Our house mocktail is tonic water, grapefruit juice and a few dashes of angostura bitters. It’s super basic but it has lots of bitterness and complexity so it scratches the cocktail itch.
@@dershow88 Unless you're avoiding added alcohol on principle, the amount is negligible. If you add two dashes of ango to a 200ml drink, you'll end up with less than 0,5% ABV, which is similar to many fruit juices.
Hey Anders! Just wanted to say that I began making cocktails/Mocktails with your Grey Fox Mocktail! It’s still the one that people ask me to make again haha The little change I make from time to time is to replace Rosemary with crushed Timut Pepper which makes it Extra Citrusy with the Earl Grey + Lemon juice, it’s different but a delicious treat too! Thanks for your videos ❤️
I only came here to say something similar, and while I'm at it let me ask, "Dry January", WTF is that? That's for people who are afraid to experience life to its fullest. You can enjoy all year 'round, just don't be an arschloch!!! Back to the mocktails thing, while that's not my jam I can appreciate it and am actually all for it. On the other hand, if I'm offered a choice between a mocktail and a Hemingway Daiquiri I might lean towards the Hemingway.
I really appreciate this episode. My wife doesn't drink and I love sharing my cocktail hobby with her but it's hard to find good mocktails. I think this list but also has mostly stuff that I'll always have on hand
Thank you! I love this channel even though I'm not a drinker. For some reason, I lost my taste for alcohol a few years except for super frufru drinks (think pineapple coconut hula drinks) Getting new ideas is awesome
Hey Anders, glad to see your video pop up. My dad just passed he got me into your videos. We loved talking drink history of drinks and making what you make that evening and talking about it. Keep doing what you are doing.
Recently moved to New Orleans so have been doing the opposite of dry January so far. I’ve been enjoying all your NOLA-affiliated cocktail videos with the goal of having each cocktail at the bar that popularized it. I’ve gotten through the Pimm’s Cup, Ramos Gin Fizz, Hurricane, and Vieux Care so far!
Anders, first off, happy new year and congratulations! I was hosting a get together and your Gray Fox was a hit! Can’t wait for what this year holds! All the best to you and everyone!
My go-to lately has been an NA "Smokey margarita": 2 oz fresh lime juice 1 oz agave or simple syrup 4 dashes orange bitters 4 drops Wright's liquid smoke 5 oz can of Fever Tree tonic water Add lime juice, agave/simple syrup, orange bitters, liquid smoke, and ice to a shaker. Shake to your liking. Pour over ice, top with tonic water. I haven't tried adding a salted or sugared rim to this drink yet, but I've been curious how that would turn out so I may give it a shot tomorrow. I find the agave syrup gives it a darker color, more like what you might expect from a reposado margarita, but both standard simple syrup and agave taste good to me.
Thanks for these recipes, looking forward to offering them to my friends who are expecting. Also my kids love when I make them special drinks, they call them tot-tails :)
One I like is a Pineapple Tonic consisting of about half a small can of pineapple juice, half a small can of tonic water (like Fever Tree), and the juice of half a lime. Serve over ice. Garnish with a cherry if you like. Obviously it's easy to make two of these at a time.
I've been working on my mocktail game this year and have been posting them to my Facebook feed. This is one I came up with last week. Might still need some tweaking. I call it With Malus (the Latin term for apple). Both for the apple reference and that the vinegar gives this a punch and hence malice. With Malus 1 1/2 oz Fresh pressed apple juice 1/2 oz Maple syrup 1/2 oz Apple cider vinegar 1 oz Pomegranate juice Few dashes of Aromatic bitters Shaken until shaker is frosted. Double strain into a chilled coup glass. Top with fresh grated cinnamon, a dried apple slice, and some pomegranate arils.
I have one for my savoury loving friends called the ‘don’t Thai one on’ that involves muddling Thai chilis, simple syrup, coriander, lime juice and cucumber. Double Straining into a high ball glass and topping up with 2:1 pink lemonade and soda water.
I had some friends with kids over for a meal recently, and wanted to include the kids in the cocktails, so I worked out a mocktail for them. 2.5oz pineapple juice, 0.5oz orgeat, 0.5oz lime juice, 3 drops orange extract, Topped up with soda. The kids and adults all enjoyed it.
Hey Anders. Happy New Year to you and Az! Love your videos. Here's me formally requesting that you do another viewer submitted cocktail video (could be fun, who knows?)
Anders you should explore Seedlip mocktails -- really really great stuff. A go to in my house is the Seedlip Garden Mule -- its your typical Moscow Mule just swap in Seedlip Garden. Fantastic.
Thanks to your recommendation of the Lyres Highland malt I’m still 10 days in on dry January making NA cocktails !! 2 lyres, 1 NA vermouth, 0.25 grenadine and some plum bitters makes for a very fancy mocktail.
Hi Anders..welcome back and Happy New Year to you and Az!❤️😁……resolution, yeah honestly that didn’t go as well as I thought!….Your mocktails look amazing, will have to test these out!👌👌👌
Yes! Too many mocktail recipes out there just use zero proof liquors, which just isn’t helpful unless you want to invest in those and they’re not cheap. Love having these drinks as more approachable options with ingredients home bartenders already have on hand
It's my birthday today, so I will not participate for Dry January. But all of these look really good especially the Cumulonimbus and the Sereni-Tea NOW!!! Thank you for the recipes Anders.
@Anders last thing you said resonates with me strongly - I never call them mocktails because I don't think they're mocking anything. Zero proof cocktail is my go-to name. Also curious to get your thoughts on egg whites without alcohol. Not worried?
Initially used aquafaba for that reason. Seeing the Pink Pearl recipe calling for egg white gave me some confidence, but still understand the hesitation. If I were to have a few more of these I'd go the aquafaba route.
I got 3 samplers from Portland Syrups for Christmas. Any chance you could feature some of those syrups for mocktails? Most of the suggestions are just adding ginger beer or topo chico.
A fresh juice espresso paloma is my new favorite summer brunch drink. Espresso tonic and espresso with Italian style bitter sodas or non alcoholic aperitifs are also on my rotation. Subbing in ginger beer into tiki adjacent drinks works well. A passion fruit and vanilla mule or buck also. (I don't know if the other name could be censored)
FWIW - You can use cannellini bean liquid for aqua faba, but it helps immensely to freeze-condense it first. So, fill a small ice cube tray with the cannellini liquid, freeze it, then remove them to a freezer bag and put back in the freezer and wait for at least a few days to a week. The water ice will sublimate some out of the surface of the bean liquid cube, helping it condense so that it whips better after gentle melting. Cannellini liquid has a more neutral flavor and whiter color than chickpea.
Anders, I'm taking a medication that prohibits me from drinking grapefruit juice. Can I substitute orange juice for the grapefruit juice in the Pink Pearl? Blood orange maybe?

I've always thought that mocktails are more complex because the alcohol provides such a flavour and texture enhancer. Thanks for the recipes. I'm definitely going to try them out for my wife, who doesn't drink! Edit: what's the recipe for the cinnamon syrup? Is it the same that you made in your syrups episode?
I'm curious as to how the egg white is safe in these mocktails. Usually the alcohol essentially cooks the eggs chemically, making it safe, but what about when there's no alcohol?
Completely random question: in your earlier videos that were shot from your home, a number of shots featured a photo of what always looked to me like a woman in 1920s attire wearing a blue hat that flapper girls wore making wedding toast. Would you care to share what that photo was?
Forgot about that! Took me a moment to think of what you were referring to. That was an old metal Coca-Cola drink tray. I used to prop it up because I liked the image, but it also blocked the mirror from showing the camera.
I don't like the flavour of alcohol and THANK you for these Mocktails. A fun story. Some years ago I attended a function and asked the Bartender for a Mocktail, not bitter or overly sweet. It took him a couple of seconds but then he started mixing and came up with a delicious drink. I told him that I loved it and that set him off, he went bananas, mixed me two other ones, the one tastier than the other, and offered me them for free, serving them with a smile from ear to ear. He had a ball and I enjoyed the best mocktails I've ever had. I hope he continues to make others happy with his drinks.
Everybody still sticking with your new year resolutions?
W h a t?
Nope, I make those in July. I like going against the grain.
I gave up Drinking for the rest of the year.
Sorry missed some punctuation there: I gave up. Drinking for the rest of the year.

A great selection of options. Do you have any recipes using your ginger syrup?
I got 3 samplers from Portland Syrups for Christmas. Any chance you could feature some of those syrups for mocktails? Most of the suggestions are just adding ginger beer or topo chico.
Cabana Boy
0.75oz lemon juice
1.15oz Barr Hill (with juniper and raw honey)
0.85oz Italicus
A fresh juice espresso paloma is my new favorite summer brunch drink. Espresso tonic and espresso with Italian style bitter sodas or non alcoholic aperitifs are also on my rotation.
Subbing in ginger beer into tiki adjacent drinks works well. A passion fruit and vanilla mule or buck also. (I don't know if the other name could be censored)
FWIW - You can use cannellini bean liquid for aqua faba, but it helps immensely to freeze-condense it first.
Same process but this time I used two types of cinnamon (2/3 Cassia, 1/3 Ceylon). Had a bit less heat, but great flavor!
I'm curious as to how the egg white is safe in these mocktails. Usually the alcohol essentially cooks the eggs chemically, making it safe, but what about when there's no alcohol?
It's similar to using raw egg whites in a meringue. Good quality and clean eggs are important. If still concerned, aquafaba's a great alternative.
If you're worried, buy pasteurized eggs.
How does it come that you are not using any n/a spirits at all?
yay!
Noooooo! Never feed into dry January. There are 11 other months to do mocktails.

Forgot about that! Took me a moment to think of what you were referring to. That was an old metal Coca-Cola drink tray. I used to prop it up because I liked the image, but it also blocked the mirror from showing the camera.
Mocktails are for quitters.
