This a video where I list the Top 10 Most Brutal/Devastating Deaths in the Saints Row Series.
Keep in mind this is my list, so if you think I left out a Saints Row Death that deserves to be in this list let me know in the comments down below. I made sure to include all main Saints Row Games but the majority of deaths are from Saints Row 2 as it has the most brutal deaths in the series.

Saints Row 2 was easily the darkest, least humorous game in the series. Makes sense that the deaths in this game were the most brutal and realistic.
Saints row 2 was the LAST saints row after they sold the entire series and game over and everything went down hill from there imagine if the original founders still had it today it would be close if not doing same numbers as GTA

Least humorous? That's a laugh, SR2 is extremely goofy and wacky. Spraying poop on buildings, fighting in MMA despite not being a trained fighter, ninja gangstas, jamaican drug dealers that use real voodoo, muscular guys that use monster trucks, the saints fighting a high tech corporation and winning, pierce in general was a joke character, and so much more. SR2 is awesome but let's not pretend it was this dark, serious crime drama, the entire Saints Row series has always been a silly, more fun alternative to GTA. If we're going to go with the most serious, SR1 wins that.

Shogo's death was brutal in the sense that it wasn't violent, but just haunting. Just hearing him crying and pleading to have a quick death. Really heavy stuff. That's the death that stuck with me the most in this series.

It’s amazing that in a game series that involves death via gunshots, falling, explosions, decapitated and combined, being buried alive sticks out the most when there’s no physical harm from the attacker. Just a tortuous long death.

Usually those are words nobody has the opportunity to hear.
He got to being more straightforward with his kills in the beginning. Then Aisha dies and he went sadistic. You can hear how much he wants to hurt Shogo in his voice. Then after burying him alive he says he hopes Shogo's still screaming.

Aaaand this is why I loved Saints Row 2, which brutally dominated the list with no apologies. SR2 wasn't the best of the series because it had such vicious violent dramatic deaths, but that it balanced the humor with them. It had ups AND downs. As the leader of a gang violently taking over a city, it made sense. It's something that Saints Row has sorely lacked ever since. It's not an emotional roller coaster if the only emotion is, "Ha ha!"
I started with SR2, the story and cutscenes had a surprising emotional impact. I really enjoyed the latter ones, but there were obviously superior elements to SR2 that I wish had been included
@@b1gnasty69 same here. It really knew what the mission was. I loved all of the super goofy moments (ie, the high mission, pierce and shaundi, etc.), but i lived for those raw moments, the ones that gave you true motive to just annihilate your competition

When I first saw Jessica’s death all the way back in 2008 when I first played this, I could not believe what I saw. My jaw hit the floor. I didn’t realize where we were taking her when we put her in the trunk of her car, then when I saw all the monster trucks, I was just like “no way!“ it was awesome! Lol

Not sure who died more painfully between Shogo and Carlos. Shogo got the shit kicked out of him, then suffocated to death inside a coffin. Carlos lost a lot of skin and blood from being dragged across concrete for who knows how long by a pickup at a high speed and definitely broke some things as well. Both ways of dying seem beyond painful. Carlos probably has the most brutal death i've ever seen in gaming, besides Henry in Mafia 2.

I would assume Carlos had it way worse. Being degloved from head to toe is a fucking vicious way to go. Suffocating isn't nearly as terrible, seeing as your brain getting starved of oxygen would make you lose your senses much quicker. Getting skinned alive leaves you in unrelenting pain until you eventually bleed out, or in Carlos' case, you get put out of your misery.
Should definitely not look up Jackie Ma from Sleeping Dogs then

Now that I’m a lot older. Going back and seeing all the saints row 2 stuff. It’s actually really damn good. The acting and the cutscenes. The way the camera moves. The music and the sounds. Saints row 2 was definitely a masterpiece. Not perfect, but really good
Neither SR2 OR GTA 4 were perfect. There’s no such thing as a perfect game
SR2 was and still is amazing, i want to say that i wish they'd remake it but after seeing saints row 2022, i don't think i'd trust them to do it justice...

She put the Boss in a situation that forced them to kill their friend, Carlos. It's only fitting she went out the same way. IMO she got off easy getting crushed to death as opposed to being dragged through the streets like Napoleon Dynamite's action figure.
I really wish more people understood the magnitude of carlos's injuries. The game lacks the ability to show it, from a graphical standpoint, but the boss' reaction to it, compared to the other things he takes part in is telling, on it's own.
I'd actually rate Carlos at number 2, and Shogo at 1. Zinyak and Sunshine were too 'silly' to be brutal, to me. I'm surprised Lin wasn't on the list, honestly. I mean, her situation was arguably as bad as Shogo's.

It is not treated, even in the game itself, with the level of serious gravity that the other mentioned bits are. It comes across as Boss doing an exasperated chore, not a solemn event or undeserved response.

@@Phelps-1247 My guy, you are totally ignoring that it lacks brutality because the GAME doesn't treat it as weighty or serious. 'brutality' does not come just from an action being violent. It comes from the emotional and situational weight of those actions, or from needless excess of violence. There is no 'needless excess' in that situation, nor is there any real emotional or situational weight to it.
Mr sunshine is played for comedy, just straight up. The intentional response to the scene, that the developers want the player to have, is an exasperated 'really dude'?
As point of comparison, the hanging scene in the third pirates of the caribbean movie vs a generic hanging scene in an old western. The generic scene in an old western lacks the weight to be called 'brutal', but the one in pirates adds a story and emotional weight to it that makes it feel brutal.
I will always remember Carlos death, the way he screams when you try to flip him over just broke my young heart back in the days. And when he held his hand and gave him the mercy kill I started crying...
and after he gets shot, you can hear carlos' hand flop to the ground :(

When I played Saints row 2 for the first ever time, I started balling when I saw the gun right at Carlos' head. After that I actually tried harder on brotherhood strongholds and missions.

No surprise that SR2 dominates this list. The cut-scenes were raw and had you super invested in the overall story, and it's a big reason why 2 is considered the best game in the series. Carlos' death was the most heartbreaking, but the antagonists deaths were also emotional. Seeing Maero's reaction to finding Jessica in the trunk, and hearing Shogo's pleas as he's being buried alive, those scenes are iconic.

To me Shogo’s was the most brutal and meant the most to me as the player and as a viewer. It is a mix of revenge and brutal that is unmatched to me. Burying alive is one of the worst ways to go

The look of joy as Playa brings down the machete on Sunshine is absolutely brutal! Even when they throw the decapitated head away, you can see Sunshine's mouth is open, that's means even after the final gunshots he was still alive😶

I think Zinyak was more brutal, Mr Sunshine probably was dead, also it was a fast cut, Zinyak felt how his head was getting separated of his body, also the humillation of being defeated in front of his empire

Carlos was the Most Tragic, & Shojo was the most Terrifying.

I didn't actually think Philippe died that early in saints 3, considering it was implied that he escaped the boss and gat to only get (simulated) murdering in 4.
Carlos and Aisha were heart breaking, and undeserved.

Shogo's death was the most satisfying
When it went from SR1/2 to SR3/4, the whole tone of the kills change. We go from burying Shogo alive as revenge for Aisha's death VS Sub Zeroing an alien who destroyed Earth while dressed as Issac from Dead Space.
Jessica's was always the most brutal to me, getting Maero to crush her was one helluva power move.

The success of the third game is, partly, due to the sheer level of awesomeness the second game has. Some of the emotions portrayed in SR2 have never again been replicated, and it sucks to see that SR3 and SR4 lack alot of the same emotional weight. (Hence why, I assume, 4's sales were middling- less character driven scenes and more wacky humor = less stakes)
For me at least, Shogo Akuji’s death is the one that makes me the most uncomfortable. Just his cries for help combined with my personal fear of being buried alive makes it the one that wigs me out the most

I love that the entire time Gat is beating on Shogo, the protag says nothing. The protag knows how bad what Shogo did truly was, how devestated and enraged Gat is. There are no puns, no quips, no witty remarks. Just silently standing back, and letting Gat handle things. We knew Gat had to work through his problems, so we let him do his thing, and helped when it was appropriate

it's hard to pick just 10, but this is a good list. i do think if there were honorable mentions, Kiki Dewynter's death comes to mind for how quick and out of nowhere it is, and how much the story of SR3 speeds up and becomes complete batshit the second she's out of the picture

This list tells you everything you need to know about this series. Saints Row 2 was hands down the best out of them all. Some people liked 3 but I was seriously disappointed. 2 improved so much over 1 then 3 just shit the bed.
Shogo and jessica deserved it for Jessica dragging carlos around like that when all they were told to do was kidnap carlos and shogo deserved it for killing aisha
