Great work Roy, those ejector pins are fantastic, because they are made from one piece they really are super strong. The tips I use are 0.30 mm & are still super strong, also the 1.5mm shaft ejector pins are a perfect upgrade for the sparrows DD pick. Have a great weekend.
I remember recently you picked a DD lock and commented you changed the Sparrows picking tip for your own, made from an injector pin. I thought the Sparrows tip is very thin and there you go swapping it or for a home made thinner one. I made this video a while ago and it was sitting in my editing folder so thought it was time to edit it and upload it.
Great demonstration on making your own DD pick tips👌 They turned out great and will definitely be much stronger💪 I have the same pick and had the same problem on the very first lock I picked a few times. I've received some various ejector pins so now have to get my ass into gear and make some tips finally. Thanks for sharing and have a great day my friend👍😀✌️
It's a great little project. Daz Evers uses them to make tips for his Sparrows DD pick. I might give it a go too. You should make a video and share it with us.
What an excellent demonstration. A great tutorial. The only thing I would add is that the offcuts you are left with when you shorten the pick you can use as a lever lock pick and a pin tumbler tension wrench. Cheers
Wonderful tutorial on making those DD tips. Chris Capune sent me some ejector pins but I believe that are a little thicker shafts. I may have to somehow turn them on a drill and use a file to thin them to the right size. But now I know how to do it thanks to this video. Great job. 👍🦊
When I saw your unboxing video it inspired me to edit my video that's been sitting in my editing folder and upload it. I think I would stick the blobby end (very technical term) into a drill, city the shaft a little overt sized and while the drill is on slide a file up and down, checking frequently with a micrometer.
They are really strong too. It's good to experiment with them as I feel the cheap Chinese locks like the tips a bit thicker but better quality locks like to often better when the tip is thin. Good to know you are back up and on your feet. Stay safe.
Thanks. These days I would thin down the tip a little more so it opens up the possibility of more varied locks to pick. Thanks for watching and commenting Barry : )
Great tutorial, buddy. I’ve been thinking of ordering some of those ejector pins to make some more DD pick tips with. It looks like a lot better way to make them than brazing bicycle spokes together like I’ve been doing. Especially since they are one piece, bc I probably waste more in acetylene brazing the spokes together than I would spend on just going ahead & buying some of these ejector pins.😂 Very helpful information, my friend, thank you for sharing. Take care & hope you have a great weekend!😃👍🏼🔐
I think you may very well be right. I think I paid £5.50 (or thereabouts) for 15 elector pins. That's about 36p each in British pounds. 30 minutes of work on a grinder and sandpaper and you have a very strong picking tip.
Many thanks for watching and the comment. This is a video I made a while ago and knowing what I know now I may change few things. Having said that the picking tips I made works well. Maybe at some point I will have a go at making a tip for the Sparrows DD pick.
I have been interested in DD locks as of late, and found your channel, this was great information thank you. Just when I think I found everyone that picks locks TH-cam, I find one more lol. Nice to meet you, I subscribed, and looking forward to more. PS I don't have a grinder, do you think with time, a file would pull off similar results? I would never afford the expensive DD picks, so this is right up my alley thanks again for a great video👍 will definitely be saving it🔓😎👍
Hi my friend, many thanks for subbing to my channel. Yes I think a file would work, maybe a good one would take the tip down ok. Thanks for your very kind words. I have looked at some of your videos and they are pretty good. Keep it up, don't give up. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I think I would make it better now as this video is one I made a while ago and it sat in my editing folder waiting to be edited. Although they do work quite well as they are.

Man my tips just can't hang bro. Very Embarrassed by this you don't tell anybody . Just can't make those picks work for me not making them right
I think they have to be reasonably accurate.
Its not the tip I can make I guess it's the body that screws me up
why do i need to make my own when thwre is a hibdred of companys that make these....dafuq
ONE: It's cheaper to make your own.
TWO: Home made tips will get you into more locks.
