I love this. Since I turned 30 I stop caring what other people think. Instead of trying to pass a test or a task first time to save face I just jump straight in and make mistakes coz I know it’s the quickest way to learn. Life’s too short. Attack it!

Pretty sure this exact realization is why so many of us are more successful in our latter years than our earlier. It's such a life changing lesson to learn and it takes some of us that first decade of adulthood to unlearn the whole "prodigy" mentality that media puts on a pedestal.
Needless to say I agree with you 100% lol

Thank you, the realisation of constantly doing something new and being actually scared of failing hit me. I have to do a lot of new things for school and work, over the time I got more and more mentally exhausted and now I realise why.

You said in a different video, money doesn’t create new problems, it creates different problems. You’ll have problems broke and problems with money. And they’re not the same problems. Obviously. This clip reminds me of that idea, which has helped me immensely.

This is so good. It’s also a realization I’m starting to come to right now. In practice this looks like: asking a question that might make you look silly, reaching out to a client before you have all your ducks perfectly in a row, shipping a version of your product without endlessly tweaking every last little detail, etc. Basically just doing the dang thing knowing there’s a chance you’ll fail, because then you’ll know what about it failed and what needs to be adjusted going forward.

Im learning programming and ive done this more than once. Telling myself that I should probably work on basics over and over, but in reality is was a fear of failing in the next step. Because it doesnt get tiring and frustrating learning something new.I think this is why a lot of people that have plans of losing weight give up early after they lose 15 pounds of the 60 pounds they wanted to lose.

You literally just described what I've been feeling for a long time! I realised that I would have a spark of inspiration but instead of mapping it out or literally just starting the project, I'd waste time searching for "more information" and I'd fall down these rabbit holes, and before I knew what was going on, I managed to bore or frustrate myself out of starting. Then I'd keep pushing it back, like this future event. Days turns into weeks that turns into months and nothing gets done, and I can't stop feeling bad, because of the feeling of failure and anxiety over my inability to just do something!!!THIS is so powerful and helpful. Thank you!!

From $0-$20M it seemed super easy to work every day, all day and never run out of productive things to do - after that it took me a long time to shift from DOING into THINKING and DECIDING and I was mostly procrastinating for an entire year. Once I finally let go of doing so much I figured out I actually had time to plan and think and make big decisions but it hasn't been an easy transition at all. Great talk.
