This is the all-new Hyundai Ioniq 6!
It’s an all-electric saloon coming in from Korea, and based on looks alone, it’s fair to say we are very excited!
For starters, just look at it! Following in the footsteps of the IONIQ 5, Hyundai has yet another great-looking car on its hands. It’s got strong concept car vibes and looks pretty futuristic from the front bumper through to the rear.
On the inside, the good looks continue, although it’s much more subtle and sophisticated compared to the exterior. There are a number of physical buttons, coupled with a relatively simple dual-screen infotainment system.
In terms of performance, there are likely to be a number of battery and motor options, with the range-topper packing a 77kWh battery pack along with dual motors, which should deliver 306hp. However, we’re expecting an even more powerful model to be released in the future!

As someone old enough to remember the Hyundai Excel of the late 1980s, it is truly amazing how far the company has come in terms of design, quality and innovation from that time. They've been making reasonably acceptable cars overall since the mid 2000s, but past few years they really have upped their game, and this car seems fantastic in every way. Just hope they don't keep upping the prices too much!

1980s was over 40 years ago? 40 years for technologi advancement is like 10 million years of human evolution. Of course theyve come long way, would be weird if they were stuck in 1980 line the Russian Lada.

this looks “retro” to you? lol… all this looks like to me is the absolute death of car design. i see three different models that were inspirations for this abomination. it’s called running out of ideas and we’re well past that point. i guess you really can’t expect anything good from hyundai if they can’t even build an engine that lasts 50k miles anyways so…

I'm in Korea now and I actually saw this car. Look at the real thing rather than the video. It's a really cool, stylish car.
Love Hyundai - KIA - Genesis .. this Trio to me is actually putting out affordable cars that have style and finesse .. as well as taking cues from actual owner and drivers .. as you said .. the Trio actually come very close to producing their prototype vehicles .. giving the customer what is ‘actually’ promised in a prototype .. this family sedan reminds me of an Audi A6 or Mercedes CL shape .. the exterior light show that most all new EV’s are are projecting for their drivers are outstanding and the Ionic 6 does NOT disappoint .. I can hardly wait for this vehicle to become another beautiful vehicle in the Hyundai family 👍🏽
Genesis is a luxury brand like Lexus they are not affordable
You can get into a GV for around $40k .. and for the number of amenities you are getting .. you'd be hard pressed to get them anywhere else at this price

I think making affordable vehicles good-looking is the most important thing in modern cars
@@yungboicontigo9278 Comparing them to the typical luxury brands, they offer a lot for their price. yeah they're luxury but they're not as expensive.
Short front overhang, long wheelbase for cabin space, fastback for aero as well as the large and real spolier+diffuser?! It does not look as the best car out there, but it does look different and practical. I can see the conflict between the design and engineering teams. I am glad that there is some exciting product coming out and I think it's exactly what is needed in this increasingly dull industry.
I think the problem with the design is how the roofline doesn't start sloping at the B pillar like in the concept. This design is however way more practical as the headroom at the rear seats isn't compromised too much.
me thinks the proportions are off. just look at the current "fastback design" Accord and Audi A7 to see what this should look like. (CLS not withstanding) both Honda and Audi have shown these basic elements CAN be put into production and made to look good (and they already did it starting 5 and 10 years ago). Sketch Monkey's already having a "Field Day" with this. #HESLOSINGHISSHIT

My favorite thing about the rise of EVs now is all the manufacturers who were known for boring/cheap designs get a fresh slate to redefine their design language.
The designs seem better on the ICE cars IMO. The EVs are so depending on aerodynamics, it's hard to make a distinctive looking car.

it does look a bit odd. it's like someone held a large block of modeling clay in the middle by the doors, and then pulled the rear ever so slightly. supposedly this was NOT even the original rear end...? they actually went back and "fixed it" to look this way. I guess the beautiful Prophecy rear wasn't good enough.

This has so much sporty potential, swooping coupe style on the back looks great already. But the front has the opportunity for so much extra aggressive lines and scoops that could make it look nice as a sporty ‘N’ variant

For the first time, I’m gonna discord with Matt! Hyundai of 10 ago was on “fluid sculpture” school design. The 2010’s Azeera was one of the most beautiful saloons I’ve ever seen....

Fair play to Hyundai and Kia for putting in so much effort into the looks of their cars. Looks like the love child of a 2005 Mercedes CLS, with a Porsche 911 to make up the rear and the front of a mixture of a Mazda MX 8 and a Noble M600.
Fantastic analogy! Couldn't have come up with a better one myself. Talk about a melting pot of different cars that we've already seen and enjoyed. This is not innovation or creativity at play here. Let's be honest, just a knock-up of other people's intellectual property in my opinion.
The styling on this is unbelievable, I think in person it would look amazing. Other automakers need to take note

@@-SP. The rear looks like a knock-off old Porsche 911 and Merkur XR4Ti with a dash of old Infiniti J30 in the tail lights. It definitely looks like it'll stand out although not in a great way to my eyes.
Not sure what Matt is talking about. This doesn't even come close to the concept! The concept was so sleek and nice. The production car looks like an egg.

I'm lucky enough to get to order a new company lease in a few months, this one will fit right into my budget. Hope they dont have delivery delays.. looking forward to driving it and getting lots of stares and attention as I'm sure I'll be amongst the first to actually have it

The front end looks very similar to an older Hyundai design. Have a look at the Tiburon. Both are good looking cars.
Sorry to disagree, its very ugly! Not a Tesla fan but still a Tesla S is much more beatifull, even Mercedes is better.
Looks good, wish looked more like the Prophecy, something like the older Hyundai coupe from the front with an old 911 from the 80's inspiration at the rear with matrix lights. Being an Ioniq5 owner I can see a lot of the same parts on the dash including the metal surround for the screens and lever switch gear. I am excited about the future of the brand just now.

I have never been excited about electric cars solely for the lack of sound. But this car really warms me up just by the way it looks. To me, it looks better than the concept, and I would take it over the Taycan, Tesla, or Audi Etron for a daily driver....just for the way it looks.

1st thing I noticed
The tail lights remind me alot more of the old Infiniti J30.
I love the exterior design language of the new Ioniq cars, it’s as if you have asked someone in the 1980s to design a car for the 2020s.
Mat you and Yianni are my favourite car reviewers and drag racers ever and I love you both so much!
Somehow it looks like a stretched Beetle to me.
I have just moved into Kia's world, I did look at many Hyundai cars too because they have some really great models these days. This EV definitely does look classy, I would buy one if I had the money.
I'm liking the styling of this car; Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis has come along way and I'm impressed. The silhouette reminds me of the Mercedes Benz EQS with a blend of other Mercedes products.
Great to see more EV options coming to market, I wonder about the availability and numbers though? Can they scale production? Bravo Kia/

Maybe it looks better in the flesh, but I'm not sold on it.
From the front and front 3/4 view it looks mostly like a Citroen DS. But the back droops away too much and the front is pretty snoozy. It's a 5/10 for me.

That fact alone, that this still has buttons in the Interieur makes me instantly wanna buy this.

I initially thought the same of the model S and X refresh, but after owning the S for a few months I really appreciate the clean and simplistic look now. No clutter at all...anywhere. It's exactly like going from smart phones with buttons and keyboard to no buttons. It's so much more aesthetically pleasing.
Didn't like the stalkless yoke at first either, but now I don't think I ever want to go back to a round wheel with stalks. The dash is completely unobstructed without random sticks sticking out of the column.
@@DescartesRenegade That's a matter of taste of course. I have also driven many newer cars with touch controls and I couldn't care less about aesthetics if I can't use the damn thing without looking at it, it's trash in my opinion.

Hyundai is absolutely killing it right now. As a single guy who loved the Ioniq 5 but didn't need that much car, I'm thrilled that we're getting something smaller next.
Just so you know Matt, in Hong Kong, there was a low flying plane hit the car on a bridge, so the rear light might be useful…..sometimes……

Better looking than the eqs, is a very low bar. The eqs is a blob, compared to the awesome concept car design of the eqs.

I'm not sure whether it's that good looking. Side and back kinda work, but the front gives me 1st gen Prius vibes. It isn't terrible looking, it's just bland and dated. If there is a Tesla killer comming up that would be Nio with ET5 and ET7 (respectively competitors to Tesla Model 3 and S)
I totally agree. Tesla looks dated and this front doesnt look much different. Side and rear almost good but I think the rear slopes down too much. Ioniq 5 is different and something new but this really isnt. Only ”cool” exterior feature are those rear lights. But its nice to have variety and its cool they are distinctive. But not my kind of cool.
Nio is a killer all right. In more ways than you can imagine.

Can anyone explain the how cameras are an improvement over regular mirrors? If you can record with the cameras and use them as side angle dash cameras as well, I'm totally on board for that, but as far as just changing the way the image is displayed, it seems like it just eats up electricity and is a glitch waiting to happen.

The concept looked like a Porsche, the production Ioniq6 looks more like a 4 door Citreon from the 1960s - only that the Citreon's looked better. Sorry a Fail from me on this production interpretation of a cool concept.
I think the Ioniq 6 looks very nice but I am not accepting of any car that gets less range than my 2018 Tesla Model 3. Frankly I feel like I am driving a concept car every day. I remember all the fantasy and concept cars of the 70s and 80s... and now I have one. Finally no other manufacturer has demonstrated the use of OTA to keep cars current with updates and new features.
The question is can you charge it to 100% on daily basis without shorting the life of the battery? ,, in other words does it have the same type of battery ( LFP Battery ) as tesla model 3 base ?

The only thing I dislike about this car is the camera mirrors. I get that using cameras instead of mirrors you get better aerodinamics - which this car is built for, but the truth of the fact is that cameras cannot give the same level of functionality as a mirror. What I mean is that with a mirror, what you see in them changes as you move your head around. With cameras you are stuck with whatever it captures. If they get dirty you won't see anything and cleaning them needs to be very thorough to have a good level of clarity.
Dont worry Digital side mirror is optional
The front reminds me of those awful-looking Hyundai Coupe from the 90s, the rest of the car looks fantastic.

Not going to lie, the look is starting to grow on me. The only thing that could improve the design is making it a bit wider by giving it a wider fender flares.
That would increase the drag coefficient though wouldn't it?

I've been driving Hyundai or Kia products since 2002, starting with an Accent. In fact, #7 is my GTLINE EV6 sitting beside my Telluride in the driveway. Now I have to pre-order #8 in the form of an Ioniq6.
I liked hyundai ionic 5.. but m the only one struggling to find beauty in this one🤔

If the Ioniq 6 looks this good, I cannot wait for the Kia version to be the coolest looking car ever created. The first image that pops into my head is the Lexus Coupe and Sedan EV concepts, but consumer car
One got to understand Hyundai and Kia have their aesthetic design team in/from Europe for the last two decades at least.
This model brings us back to one of their earlier Sonata design queue.
This car has a 2002 ford Mondeo lights strapped on a super stretched VW Beetle out from a something like cyberpunk 2077 vibe...

It's probably not hyperbole to say that Hyundai is the car manufacturer of the 21st century so far.
Not forgetting sister brand Kia too, they've come from making cars you wouldn't be seen dead in, to some of the most desirable cars on the road, all inside about 30 years is truly remarkable.

I think Hyundai struggled with this car….the transfer from concept to production. Perhaps the Prophecy should have remained a beautiful concept.
Interesting design. The side profile reminds me of the 2010 Mercedes CLS and the tail lights remind me of the old Infiniti J30 sedans from the 90s.

I do a 230 mile round trip regularly in my model 3 and it usually has about 45 miles left over.
The Hyundai and Kia are some of the best looking cars on the roads these days.

This is my favorite vehicle design of the last 20 years, whether electric or gas. It somehow manages to be beautiful looking, cool looking and powerful looking all at the same time. The interior is also great, The range is great and the features are plentiful. It is close to being the perfect sedan, and closer to being perfect than any other sedan, Tesla included. The Tesla model three looks boring, plain and vanilla compared to the ionic six.
And even when Hyundai comes out with the fast version of the ionic six, most people will opt to save $10,000 to $15,000 in exchange for being one or two seconds less fast at reaching 60 mph. 99.99% of people almost never need or actually use super fast 0 to 60 speeds. You can’t use it on getting onto on ramps of highways because you can’t reach 60 on the on ramp, and almost all on ramps take more than five seconds to get through.
Also, both Hyundai and Kia consistently are near the top of reliability ratings including JD power. Hyundai and Kia are going to take significant market share from Tesla, including in the US. Once their new EV models hit the streets in more cities and towns around the US, they are going to garner a lot of attention and praise and envy, all of which will result in higher and higher sales.

My brother in law has driven Hyundais since the cars were of much lower quality. One time, he had the transmission replaced for free. Now, their cars are quite good. This electric looks nice.

Like a Merc CLS mk1 that has been front and rear ended. Needs a good stretch.

Those who bought Ioniq 5 are now smashing their tables.
Ummm it doesn't look close to the concept, the concept had a almost straight shoulder line that fell at the back, this one is totally different where it comes up from the front(reminds me of the ugly eqs) and then starts falling rather quickly which makes it look like a CHEAP Chinese compact sedan very different from the long elegant concept car
Although it still doesn't look bad (looks better than the eqs for sure)
