    I really like this video! The New Edge has always been my favorite Mustang--I've owned a white 2000 New Edge Convertible with a 3.8, and now I have a 1999 New Edge Convertible with a 4.6. Both have bolt ons. They're so fun, easy to work on, reliable, parts are dirt cheap, and are real head turners. Future collectors items.

    I got the crimson red 40th anniversary edition mustang.
    It used to be my dads, after he passed away I took it and have slowly been putting some money and work into it.
    Only has 61,000 KMs on it and looks brand new still.
    Never winter driven, I live in central Canada so it stays parked 6 months out of the year lol.
    My favorite upgrade so far for it has to be the $6000 stereo with 8" screen.
    I love my bass lol.
    Have 2 10" subs, upgraded all 4 interior speakers and have x2 amps. One for subs and one for mains.
    Cost a lot of money for a stereo but its something I will enjoy for many many years so it was worth it to me.
    Also have a bit of blue led lights inside.
    It looks nice at night.
    Also, I have the 18" American Racing chrome rims on it with low profile tires.
    Looks sweet.
    This summer I want to do under glow lighting on it and also get the brakes painted to match the red on the car and do a few more little things, maybe upgrade front and rear lights.
    Seen some nice ones that change colors on an diff mustang.
    I wish I had money to put into the engine, a supercharger would be so cool!
    Would love to have a bit more speed, for now its all show and no go lol ...maybe next year if I can get some money saved up.
    Been a rough couple years with Covid and with my dad and my little brother passing away suddenly.
    But every summer I try to work on the car a bit and hopefully one day when I die it will go to my little son who is now almost 7. Then he can continue on enjoying it and upgrading it.
    Anyways, seeing that 40th anniversary one on here reminded me of mine so figured I would comment. NOt that anyone really cares lol.
    Hope yall are enjoying your Mustangs and life is good to you.
    Cheers!

    The 02 cobra that was built and sent to Australia was basically just like an 01 cobra just built with left over stuff. The 03 cobra was supposed to be an 02 but it took a little longer to get it ready after deciding to go with forced induction which in those days was not common at all like it is now. It was kind of a mid year car it was an early 03 being released in summer 2002. I was 19 years old and was drooling over them at the dealer. I never got one but I have an 07 gt500 that I love very much and was built in the same vein. Both wonderful cars with tons of potential considering how old they are.

    I remember riding in one back in 2000. I was almost done with high school and while knowing the Camaro is faster and more powerful at the time, I always gravitated towards the New Edge era Mustang. Over the years I had several chances to purchase one but never did for one reason or another. Now, I live in a location where they are actually available but the prices are insanely high right now. They were around the $6-8k range before CV19 and lately for the same condition and mileage people wants $12-15k. The market will eventually return to normal, however, I check almost daily for the right Mustang at the right price. There was one the other day and some dealer got to it before me. Oh well! Eventually I will have one.

    HOW IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE THAT YOU MISSED THE MILESTONE FEATURE OF THE 1999 COBRA HAVING BEING THE FIRST MUSTANG TO HAVE A FULLY INDEPENDENT REAR END!!!!!!!!!
    When Ford redesigned the Cobra for 1999 they decided to change it from a hot rod to a "Porshe Beater". The fully independent limited slip rear end with forged aluminum suspension and an aluminum diff housing was modified and lifted from the SVT T-Bird. The non-supercharged and reinforced aluminum block was used to lower front end weight to give a near perfect weight distribution for exceptional handling. In 1999 Ford specs listed it at .9 lateral G with stock factory tires. With track tires at that time or with some of today's high performance street tires the car can pull 1 G .
    Unfortunately, the Cobra base price was to high. For almost the same price drivers who wanted a Porshe didn't want to drive a modified Ford Mustang. Plus prior Cobra owners tended to be street races who wanted a solid rear axle and more horsepower. After a few years of dismal sales Ford revamped the Cobra back to an asphalt ripper with a cast iron block, supercharger and a sold rear axle.
    I am fortunate that twelve years ago to have bought used and still stock early model 1999 SVT Cobra convertible. It came with all the paperwork including Ford performance recall and the original sales slip. My convertible Cobra's base price was $34K plus tax & license in 1990. That's $56K in today's $$$.
    My Cobra runs 152 mph top up and 145 mph top down at El Mirage dry lake. The only mod I've made was to replace the friction plate limited slip with an all-gear SVT Torsen limited slip. Coupled with the car lighter weight compared to newer cars, this thing handles the twisties like a cat with suction cups on it's feet! Its light weight has even allows me to beat out late model Camaros that challenge me at a stop light. On the straight or in the mountains, it's fun to see the expression of the faces of other performance car drivers including Porshes, when my 22-year old Ford Cobra Mustang leaves them in the dust.

    I had 35th anniversary it had every option. Now I got a mineral grey GT coyote swapped havily modified with fully aftermarket suspension. Making car 1xxxwhp. We’re can I find a built 1000ho transmission.

      We would recommend checking with a local performance shop for a transmission that can handle 1,000+ whp! Or check some Facebook groups for other recommendations.

      Hi David,
      Unfortunately, we do not have any control on when most of our "Out of Stock" parts will come back into stock. We are still waiting for the manufacturers to update us with a ETA on parts. If you have any other questions or concerns, please email us with the link below for more info. | lmr.com/contact

    Why hasn't an aftermarket company recreated the 99/01 Cobra bumper?

    • @latemodelrestoration

      Hey there, we have been looking into it. It is due to the molding and design of the bumper. Hopefully we'll see them sooner than later!

    Funny enough I started looking at SN95s for a first car. 9k for a '97 Cobra with 90k miles, 8k for a '02 GT with 80k miles. The GT is bone stock and really tempting. Only thing I'm not liking is the gas mileage

    • @trenthuntsman2196
      @trenthuntsman2196 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest with you the gas mileage is better than advertised... If you can stay off the gas pedal all of the time. I am on my 2nd 99-04 GT and love driving the wheels off of it but in a recent trip from Idaho to Colorado I averaged 29 mpg with the cruise set at 75. I daily drive mine and am typically in the 22-25 mpg range.

    • @zandaughtry7936
      @zandaughtry7936 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trenthuntsman2196 Interesting. Highway mpg is basically the same as a 3.7 S197. The 3.7 would get about 3mpg more in the city though. And I would like the sound of a V8 haha

    • @hermanrogers1325
      @hermanrogers1325 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Landan, your thoughts on a 2000 Roush stage 2 for about 10k with 94k miles. Worth it? Or just get a normal SN95?

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The New Edge Roush cars are pretty cool. I’m a little out of the loop on what good, clean New Edge cars are bringing money wise. If the car has been well kept, there is probably some room for negotiation based on the $10k asking price. -Landan
