I bought the S23 plus this year which is the first Samsung I've bought since the S8 plus, mainly due to them getting rid of those battery draining hand warmers called Exynos. I shall be returning to the opposition on my next upgrade if the Snapdragons disappear again, I don't want a second rate product because of where I live
If I heard any Exynos words in next Samsung phones, I will switch to another phone brands and never looks back. Exynos is junk and always be junk for next decay. Currently happy with my current s23 ultra 1tb 😊
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M it's not as if the Exynos equivalents performed any better than those two chips, in fact they were still worse. If it was a year when both chips were running poorly it's simple, I just wouldn't upgrade at all that year
The 2 problems they face is: 1. Even if it has the potential to perform better than Snapdragon, the Snapdragon will still be more optimised by devs. And 2. Even if they do make a decent chip, people aren't going to immediately become super excited. Just hearing the word "Exynos" really puts a lot of people off. Both of these problems can only be solved if they're good, and good *consistently* so it's going to take them years to turn things around, and they're fighting an uphill battle of their own making. I hope they do well, some added competition for Snapdragon means better chips and/or lower prices for us the customers.
You are wrong in one thing, the price is going up not down if more and more chip manufacturers are sharing the market, just think about it, if 100million sold chip need to cover the investment it cost less per chip when you need to get the same on 40million sold chip, and you can be sure nobody will say that we selling less amount of chip, so the yearly.profit is also fine if will be lower.. they will charge more on each chip to maintain their previous year profit, even if they manufacturing judt half amount of chip, they wi not give up the profit.. the only difference here is that you need to pay millions for multiple companies just for the chip design/yearly innovations, and you will pay that price even if they only sell 1 chip per year..
The way I see it they have to essentially beat sd 8 gen 3 in every single catagory ie. Performance, battery life and heating by atleast 10% to remove the bad public image associated with the word "EXYNOS". But the problem is I find that happening to be highly UNLIKELY.
@@naqibfarhan4356 the heating is the most problem, without that they should keep up the performance, but because of the heating they throttle more like the others, what cost them the sustained performance. And the heating issue comes from the inferior Samsung fab, their transistor density is a joke, and if you need to make a bigger chip to use the same amount of transistor, then they lose a lot (the 30% longer wire had the exactly same extra resistant like the 30% wider wire, so their 4nm use the same energy like the 5.2nm from the others)
one huge problem problem with exynos chip is bad gpu driver optimization , since eclipse is based on RDNA and the support is almost non existent, even for mali and adreno gpu optimization still lacking and the gpu update able driver support in play store is non existent, gpu driver still depends on firmware update from the OS update. Another thing is the ISP optimization, exynos 2200 have bad camera video recording on launch ,this is quite funny since samsung is the exynos owner and it's run bad again on their phone s22 ultra exynos. From here we can see although samsung phones use chipset from their own, the optimization suks hard which is a shame
Exynos is using MaliGPU, so most MaliGPU Cpu arent good optimized for devs. on Snapdragon they mostly do (except the samsung manufactor ones like 865?, 865+?, 888, 8 gen 1...)
@@casuarius6576 Optimization is not the issue. Mali GPUs are known to have very poor OpenGL ES drivers (which is the most commonly used API on Android). It's where Mali fails. On paper they are indeed faster (8 Gen 2 GPU being the obvious exception), but their APIs support is crap.
The thing that drives me crazy is the fact that they're deliberately making two phones that perform very differently from each other and still selling them at the same price. If they want to keep using their chip to gain insights and data about performance etc. for developing purposes, they should offer that model at a lower price full stop, or just stick to using ONE chip for all markets, whether it be SD or Exy. I won't be buying any other S Ultra until we have some serious results and equity between the two models. My S21 Ultra is literally unusable this summer, due to constant overheating and low battery life. It's a fucking joke
At least thet should fully disclose which phone are selling to you, but thats the kicker, they try so hard to hide wich version are you buying, you have to go to third-party sources to know which version they are sending to which country
I think that if they launch the s24 series with Exynos in some countries, a good answer to that from general public would be not buying it or buying offers on the s23 series till sold out. I think that, if they want to experiment with Exynos, they can do it with medium to lower devices. Samsung sells a lot on these categories so it can be worth for them. If you pay for premium, you are expeacting premium processor, but if you pay half ot third of premium, why not to be a good "territory" for Exynos to try? Maybe one day Samsung actually manage to get to the top with their chip (I doubt it) but, in the mean time, is very baf idea to keep premium prices om mediocre processor, they losing trust of consumers, like they did already with their tvs by overpricing Leds, drpping qualitu one year to another, bad software upgrade (like iPhone, so next year launch looks much bette) etc..
It makes me disappointment why a Deca core Exy.2400 gets outclassed ..In a video it was literallly laging on home screen with idle state... Its a flagship processor you know...Why people won't Sue exynos to stop making ..or start making neew chipsets😢😢😢
@@kmimiteh 24 series is fucking weird here, s24 and 24+ use exynos but ultra uses snapdragon... what the fuck. Atleast s23 series ran all snapdragon. Now you literally have to psy for more speed even when its ment to be flagship series, not just one phone, slltho exynos they use in s24 series probably outperforms last series still likely
The problem is how Samsung chip manufacturing processes are infamous for producing chips that overheat(and thus consumes more power with poorer performance) no matter which chip you purchase(for eg nvidia 30 series graphics card) until they fix that TSMC will be in a huge lead no matter what....
Wrong. Their manufacturing process is actually as good as TSMC. HOWEVER. It's Exynos's chip architecture that sucks ass... Why are they using Mali GPU? Adreno is so much better.
@@nugget6635 the CPU itself is the same architecture, with minor differences. the problem they had with the mali GPUs historically were that they skimped on the size of the gpu and jacked up frequency to compensate. i don’t know if this is still the case but it was a common problem in some android SoCs for awhile.
@@nugget6635 it isn't as good as tsmc. snapdragon 888 and 8th gen1 was maufactured by samsung and had mediocre to poor efficiency. better than exynos though.
Let me briefly explain why Samsung will not be getting my money. I do not agree to pay MORE for a phone with an inferior processor. Yes, I do say more because in most countries which get the exynos, there’s additional shipping costs, as well as lower currency. So Samsung you can get stuffed!
Very interesting, I hope Samsung cracks the chip market finally but honestly perhaps they would be better served at the moment using "high end" exynos chips that almost but don't match snapdragon in their non premium phones. Almost flagship performance for the users, higher margins for Samsung but more importantly massive amounts of real world data to work out efficiencies and iterate until Exynos is a flagship level chip.
They used to be in box seat before making deals with Qualcomm. Go and ask LG who destroyed their mobile phone reputation and business with their hand warmers.
@@bulletpunch9317 I see your knowledge is shallow and you can't remember when the Exynos was best and Samsung turned feature off and throttle to match up with the SD.🤭
Something really painful about exynos also comes in the form of Tensor. Heats up like crazy, bad battery life and whatnot. And huge part of the blame goes to the exynos the Tensor was based on.
yeah, Pixel 6 victim. Just browsing the net up to 40°C with 25°C room temp and no direct sun... Samsung Modem takes 4-5% just standby compared to 1-2% with Wifi only. It' so bad... No Pixel with Samsung based tech for me. No Samsung Exynos over 400 Euro. In a low/mid device I can get over it, at least my previous phone was not ideal but fine. That was 300 Euro though. I would never spend S Galaxy money for a Exynos. Never imagine the Tensor G1 is as bad as it is...
Many consumers felt shortchanged because Samsung charged the same or more money for the inferior Exynos version. If it was cheaper, than snapdragon version, reflecting the actual savings Samsung got for using Exynos, people wouldn’t mind. Look at how popular the Galaxy A5x series despite using Exynos. Consumers want value for the money.
@@MatijaBozanic Same, that's why I got the A52s. The A54 is just slightly better, the A53 was left in the dust by the A52s. They should just drop the Exynos already. It's always a couple generations behind.
Hope they stick to Snapdragon... Europe ALWAYS pays more not "sometimes" so it's unfair we were previously stuck exclusively with the garbage edition and had to import actually decent phones...
I remember back in Snapdragon 800, 810, 820 (samsung galaxy s5, s6, s7) era Exynos used to perform better than the Snapdragon. I wish and want Exynos to succeed Competition is always a better for consumers
As much as I don't like the Exynos chips, I want Samsung to succeed with their Exynos push. We want competition on the market, not a monopoly. This will make Qualcomm stand down for a little esp on prices.
With the lousy Samsung manufactured one? Thanks to Samsung lousy manufacturering, we had so many version of overheating and lousy chips for years. Luckily tsmc took over. No more lousy one from Samsung anymore, not now, not future See how pixel tensor still suffering in 2023 thanks to Samsung when all others have move on
I hope exynos get smacked even by sd 8gen2 and sell waaaay less s24 than s23. After that they will understand that they can't facking around with our money.
Most tech enthusiasts either don't know or seemingly ignore the fact that Exynos used to be superior vs Snapdragon many years ago. U.S. users would have to import the international Exynos model if they wanted better performance, battery life, and features like 4K 60fps video recording WITH NO TIME LIMIT. Snapdragon models were restricted to 4K 60fps recording with a 5 minute time limit. Exynos was the first to not have that limitation. It would be great for Exynos to eventually become for Galaxy phones what the A-series chips are for iPhones. Tighter integration between the SoC and One UI would be amazing.
Had an exynos based is S22 but traded it out early because of poor battery life and heat. So I was happy to hear they'd switched for the S23 - was considering an S24 next year. If it's back to Exynos though - probably not. Shame really
Samsung is unnecessarily overpriced tbh compared to the competitors like oneplus which also ships similar hardware . I know Samsung build quality is better & all but it's not worth double the price of oneplus or Xiaomi . after all they all have the same hardware inside but only rebranded as different companies
@@SuplexCityF5you also got better software updates on samsung..and the xioami one..i stay five feet away from their device..yeah they were cheap and have good soc but the problem of build quality and battery bloating in just 2 years..just nahh
Here, we have both and both of them have a different price. I was looking for galaxy s22, which costs 550 dollars with Exynos chip and 800 dollars with Snapdragon chip
I have an S22 Exynos. And I don't really notice any issues with it. Battery last more than a day, everything works as expected. It is never hot and never freezes. I really don't know what people use their phone to notice the differences.
You could add that in Europe for example we had less for more ..... the price were higher due to money conversion, higher local taxes etc ...... that was really unfair, less power, more throttling, less battery. less optimisation. And when it comes to a flagship price, some people don't know when they buy but Will eventually learn from competitors, geeky friends, hence feel betrayed. Remember flagships changes every 12 months, when competitors blow away you specs a few months after the buy , and you're still paying you phone's plan for one or two years..... bad taste in the mouth. Again we are talking high price flagship. So if it exists somewhere else. then you must give something in return. law of commerce. Samsung is a great company, they make great products very often, i hope that they understand that an Exynos even just on par With the Snapdragon would require, more gifts to consumers, and probably youtubers.
Samsung doens't believe that both CPU are same level otherwise they would give the Exynos to Ultra, too. Exynos is for lower priced devices and countries which are not that important for them.
Even though the Tensor chipsets in Pixel phones are different than a stock Exynos that would go in a Galaxy, some hope of how good or bad a Exynos in a S24 will be hinged on how good the Tensor G3 in the Pixel 8 phones perform particularly in the way of general performance and efficiency since both areas were behind comparable Snapdragons. With rumors that the Tensor G3 is in for its biggest change yet, an Exynos in a S24 may not be as bad as we're thinking.
Samsung recently fired their whole processor making team and they took almost 2 years to develop this one and we can hope that its this 2400 . So there is still a little hope but as we all know it has never been to our expectations , lets hope for the best ..

the problem with exynos 2100 and its eclipse gpu is the driver, driver is not optimal and even i heard they're using api translator vulkan to OpenGL, this even with high efficiency makes the performance load higher or the gpu works extra, instead of using native OpenGL that works well and better
If they are using snapdragon in core markets and ultra - Samsung know it’s better. All others with exynos are paying the same for less. Equivalent performance isn’t good enough to pay the same and be part of the beta testing programme to improve future models.
if exynos and snap doesn't make much difference(or exynos is bit lesser in performance and worse in heating with minimal difference), use exynos and make phone cheaper
I hope the s24 gets ridiculous sales in EU... i had my first and last Exynos with s8. Wanted to buy the s24 but now I see I'm stuck with ultra if I want to avoid Exynos, so I'll just skip s24 at all
Last year I wanted to switch from poor Exynos S9. But after release of the S22 and experience over the Internet I had to change my mind. I wanna have flagship for 4-5 years and it would be another long pain. So I was hoping. And I was lucky with the S23. I am impressed with this year's battery life, performance and cold running of the phone. I don't see any reason to pay expensive phone in the EU and make more money to Samsung for discounts in Snapdragon countries like US. Especially if they sell me much worse device.
Don’t feel alone mate , historically in Australia we got bent over with the sub standard Exynos too . As always , in the end , it’s all about making a buck by giving a portion of the customers a cheaper chipset , while giving the premium chipset to the more valued customers.
Exynos has potential. Everyone is moving towards custom silicon. Samsung is the only manufacturer with as widespread a market share and a lineup of devices covering everything from the ultra-low end to the ultra-premium end. If they can get their best chips close enough to SD, they can get very price competitive and subsidise the difference via their lower end models. And maybe that means they could support their entire lineup for longer, which is basically what's pushing customers towards Apple.
The very big problem is Samsung phones with snapdragon chips are sold the same price with the inferior exynos variants. We will switch to Huawei P series if Samsung continues to cheat us with the stated reason.
I think the Exynos 2400 might be actually good. They will use an imoroved 4nm process with improved yields and efficiency. They will also use 10 cores instead of 8, which--done right--improves power per watt. They will also use 4 times the GPU cores based on the same RDNA 2 architecture.
@@sulaman4280 Samsung doesn't need to have faster chips than apple. 3nm is still new and the advantages to improved 4nm silicons are more or less neglectable. Rather are 3nm chips still too exprensive, so Samsung has to use their in-house chips using in-house silicon to be better value for money.

Very interesting video. But, I think that worst than the differences between Snapdragon and Exynos is the fact that Samsung makes phone with country locks. You buy a flagship phone in Asia, and when you come to north america, you realize that you don't have access to 5G. Or that some software are not available...
that's because of diffent frequences/bands used in different countrys for 3 up to 5G. It also could be a sh*tty reason like patents behind it. Or both.
@@nopenope1 It's not a patent design. It's only because Samsung don't wanna pay royalties... But they still say to you that's an "international" phone...
@@AlainLafond i already mentioned patents, in that case I see that the same. And at least a few years back some modems just do not have all bands included. And we both do probably not thinking about the very high bandwidth 5G stuff, do we?
I’m Korean and I have to say Samsung has always been ignorant to everyday normal customers (GOS for example) Exynos will never catch up, since there’s no need for them to do so
The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of people who use a Samsung phone with an Exynos processor simply don't know or don't care. I agree it's a bit disingenuous of them to ship different and technically inferior processors with their overseas phones. That being said, I don't think we should cheer for Qualcomm in everything. They've already got the monopoly on the majority share of the market. More competition is always a good thing.
Those latest release like exynos 2200 and exynos 1380 are wayyy better than those exynos released 3~4 years ago. Samsung is putting so much effort to make exynos great and efficient, just give samsung 1~2 years, it will eventually catch up with Qualcomm. 💪
I guess I'm the odd one for not actually hate on Exynos models because: 1: Support for custom ROMs 2: I don't need all of that performance 3: They are cheaper on the used market
I'm among the few who don't hate it. The Snapdragons have really terrible GPS accuracy, so there have been times when I wished that I had an Exynos processor even if they are less efficient with battery use (I don't think most people care about having the horsepower to edit or render videos).
Omg! I realise it now. My phone has lower calibration these days (S23U user) compared to my previous phone - Note 10+. I am realising it now, thanks to you.
My previous phone (non-Samsung) was powered by a Snapdragon 865, and my current (also non-Samsung) phone is powered by a Snapdragon 888. I saw that both phones somehow mentioned their directional accuracy as 'low' in Google Maps, even just a single day after using calibrating the GPS and using the navigation function. Looks like this indeed might be a Snapdragon issue. Thanks for the comment!
It's all about optimization. This processor was decent on android 13, but on Android 14 it performs like a flagship (if you do a factory reset after the update). Buttery smooth with no lags or stutters.

Lets hope that since samsung makes exynos, they continue to release software updates that help work alongside and help the exynos chip perform better in the long run and even better yet (a man can dream), outeperform snapdragon.
For the those dreading the return of Exynos in the S24 series, can I offer some hope in saying that It appears that Samsung will only be offering the Exynos 2400 on the base S24 'in selected markets' and will be offering Snapdragon 8Gen3 on the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra in all markets according to some creditable sources. Can anyone out there confirm or deny this categorically?.

@@starlord6819 We can but hope. Samsung need a successful platform for Exynos this year though. The Exynos 2400 version of the base S24 needs to noticeably outperform it's 8 Gen3 counterpart to set a small platform for a potential all Exynos S25 or maybe S26 series which Samsung will hope can outperform ANYTHING. Bold plans and difficult to turn into a reality, but by no means impossible.

This is more logical. If you don’t mind you get the basic S version with Exynos processor. You want to pay more for the + or Ultra then you get the better and decent Snapdragon processor. Sounds fair enough for me.
In the Uk we always got the Exynos version and as a Consumer I never had issues . Untill the youtubers went on and on about the exynos vs snapdragon nonsense.
I am still rocking my exynos S21 ultra with no issues and still giving me good battery life even with gaming like COD mobile.

exynos does have 1 benefit is the bootloader is unlocked so we can use custom roms on this phone
Long live the Jailbreak/Root. By the way, Snapdragons are able to Root too.
I bought S21 Ultra in India. It was last Exynos in India. After 2 years use, it drains battery like anything. Using 10-15% battery use while being on standby. Heats up like oven while using Camera. On the other hand I have Galaxy S7+ Tab with Snapdragon 865. It barely loses 1% in overnight despite being 6 months more old than the phone. Now desperately waiting for S24 to come out in few months so that I can switch to Snapdragon finally.

Well, I just looked up which 'chip' was in my S20+ 5G SM-G986BZADBTU dual sim unit. Turns out it's a Exynos 990 2.73GHz. (I used the CPU-Z utility to find this out).

Btw it's not Samsung LSI the S in SLSI stands for System. Fully it's Samsung SLSI (System Large Scale Integration)
Exynos was not always bad. Till Galaxy S4, the Exynos was often better than the SD and Mediatek. That's why I was able to use my galaxy note 3 from 2013 till 2018.
However, if I compare all the phones nowadays, the Exynos is garbage. Or more recent example is the comparison between my S22 Ultra (exynos) and the Galaxy S23 Ultra or Galaxy Z Fold 3 that was sold in the EU with SnapDragon SoC. My S22 Ultra always had the worst battery drain even though the battery health is currently at 99%.
To be honest, that's also why I got now a Xiaomi 13 and once I paid off the s22 Ultra, I'll be selling the S22 Ultra and start using the Xiaomi 13 but first of all I have to flash EliteRom on it since stock MiUi sucks and doesn't have call recording which doesn't allow me to sue some call center company after they call me again and try to sell me some garbage or ask me if I want to join Jehovas Witnesses XD With my s22 Ultra and the call recording unlock I was already able to earn 24.700Eur. and that's also why my current car has a sticker on bumper that says "sponsored by spam call centers and my lawyer"

This also can have a technical reason or a country has a very uncommen band in use. Esp. 5G I believe the bands are even more diverse from country to country.
I guess I'm the odd one for not actually hate on Exynos models because:
1: Support for custom ROMs
2: I don't need all of that performance
3: They are cheaper on the used market
