Always! Yes Linda, other than the background I do paint the eyes first for most of my paintings. This is as you said it kind of keeps you company and gives you something to look at whilst you work on all the fur layers. Thank you, Paul 🎨
Howdy Paul. How u r.? Do you paint the eyes first so the animal can watch you paint the rest of it? Hur hur huurrr. Seriously now...that is a beautiful painting. You've got the knack and you're a fine teacher too. You have even managed to help me! I have done a bobcat, a mountain goat and a red fox since I started watching your videos. Everyone who sees the ram wants it but that ones mine. Mine I tell ya. Mine! A teacher that can help bring about results like that with a paint slinger like me is a teacher and a half. Thanks VERY much. Everything about the video is so helpful that it's hard to put a finger on the single most helpful aspect. For me It's how you show how to use the water and wet paper to control the flow of paint for under painting certain sections before you begin the layering process. Those patches of under painting have so much to do with shadowing and shaping too. Helped me greatly when I got that. Its not just about a base for the hair...it's that and much more all at once. Cool. That's what it is. No. Its WAY Cool!
Thank you sooo much for your very kind words sarz1951, you are so very kind. I'm really please to know my videos have helped you to paint other wildlife subjects, fur is fur at the end of the day! LOL Keep painting and keep those brushes wet, Paul 🎨
Paul, this little Meerkat is beautiful and I enjoyed watching you bring it to life with watercolors. You are a great teacher and I have enjoyed learning from you, maybe a year or two ago. I have strayed away from Watercolors at present and am doing animals in pastel. I will return to watercolor one day and you will see me back on your Patreon channel. Until then, thank you and happy painting !!! P.S. I think you are the best 'animal' watercolor artist/instructor out there ... and your lessons are varied, detailed and fun :)
Kathy you are the best, thank you very much for taking the time to comment and of course enjoying videos both here and when you were a member on my Patreon channel. Have fun with your pastels and I hope to see you back with my other members in the near future. Chat soon and stay safe, Paul 🎨
Beautiful. I learnt the painting of a realistic eye in this video, used the same for a giraffe with slight variations. It came out really well. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge. You are very talented.
This is mesmerising to watch, I loved seeing how all of it built up the eye is phenomenal , I had thought. To do my daughters cavalier King Charles spaniel puppy in either coloured pencil or pastel. We are awing till he is fully grown which will be at. Christmas . But I think I will hold off so that I can do him in watercolour, I need to get. My act together, I havent done much art in the last month or so for various reasons Health related but thins are slowly improving and if I do some smaller projects be tween now and the end of the year, I would like to try and rejoin you in January . There is no one who is as good and detailed as you in any medium for wildlife art my spiral bound fat pad of bockingford paper arrived yesterday
Ooh a new pad of watercolour paper Margaret! I love it when you first remove that cellophane and open it up on your painting table. Have fun with the Kings Charles, there's lots of fur! Paul 🎨
@@TheDevonArtist I’m definitely not tackling chewie in watercolour until I’m more proficient , Thsts his name I can’t imagine why that would be for such a regal looking dog, perhaps a pencil version to start with then a watercolour when I have the confidence not to mention the ability lol
Hi Beverly, yes the brush is synthetic and it's a size 00. The one I use is one made by Winsor & Newton, not expensive as well which is a big bonus. Take a look at the materials I use, which includes the lovely little brushes. Thank you for watching, Paul :-) devonartist.co.uk/materials-i-use-or-recommend-for-realistic-watercolour/
