- A tutorial on how to repair the four round buttons on the Sony DualSense controller : Circle, X, Square, or Triangle. I am using a model BDM-010, but most of the things I show you show apply to all versions. Buttons can be stuck down, not responding, sticky, or mushy. In the later half of the video, I show how to tear it down and get to the innerworkings, like the rubber conductive pads and the conductive film.

I don’t ever comment on videos, but my circle button on my galaxy purple ps5 controller stopped working, I took the controller apart (even though it was intimidating and I’d never messed with electronics like that before), all my buttons looked fine but I still cleaned and brushed them, put everything back together and boom, everything was working fine again. Great video man, I really appreciate it!
Same after putting it back together it all magically worked not sure what the actual issue was but was nervous taking it apart, after doing it it was very easy and saved me money. Fun little project

Great video. I had my X and Square buttons and PS home buttons stop working after a drop off the couch. Everything seemed fine but cleaned the sensors and the gel pads with isopropyl alcohol and it worked as if nothing was wrong. Thank you! Saved me nearly $80 for a new one.

This is an excellent video and guide, was having problems with my triangle button after my kids got a hold of the ps5. Ended up having to dis-assemble it and cleaning up the base of the button. THANK YOU

Just took it apart and can’t put it back together😂 so I went from a controller with a broken square button to a controller in bits lol cheers mate.

Ty so much! My x button stopped working out of no where and all the steps before 6 didn’t work. Once I opened it up I saw that the plastic part was almost completely ripped where the x was. I just used the part from my old ps4 controller as replacement and it worked! I was so nervous taking it apart but took my time. Appreciate your video with instructions !

Just woke up and my x button isn’t working. Reset didn’t work, update was up to date. I cannot open the controller, I’ll just buy a new controller… smh

@@KdrDeezNutz so the whole process is pretty straightforward you have to follow solution six and use rubbing alcohol on the buttons

Great video my controller had fell when I was playing madden I picked it up n tried throwing a dot to triangle and it didn’t work opened the controller up n found out the rubber was ripped and the socket of the triangle button was dirty I cleaned it and replace the rubber part with a another one and it works now
I had to fully take apart the controller but my x button is working again thank you so much I didn't even know where to start

Using the vacuum cleaner worked immediately. I was extremely surprised because I thought I was going to have to take it apart. oddly enough I've had a PS4 controller for much much longer and never had this issue. I've had the PS4 controller for maybe 5 months
The paper trick worked and my controller felt better already

Thank you so much, it has been a lot of help because the x button was not receptive of any signal after my baby brother dropped the controller just by 5 centimeters. It was one of the rubber things 8:07 that was unlinked from the x button. It worked greatly but i did one mistake that i dont really care, its the microphone cable got cut (who uses the controller’s mic anyway) 😂
What kind of glue to use on the little grey padding behind the triangle button since the reflective stuff is gone after only having it six months . 😢

Hey so I figured out one of the other things that causes a dead set of action buttons...
On the rear of the PCB (behind the FPC contact pins) there are smallllllll resistors (not capacitors?) in circuit with each via. They can be dead, loose, or fallen/ripped off.
I'm missing the one on my model DS5 that handles the triangleband circle inputs. It looks like it just never got soldered firmly to the board and I bet they fall off/disconnect when people drop their controllers and suddenly no cleaning etc foxes them.
I need to source a suitable replacement so I can test the repair :) can you help me figure out the values of those?

Are the smaller ribbon cables on what would be the 3 and 9 o clock positions all thats responsible for the face buttons? I just took my controller apart again and now the D-Pad and Circle/Square etc buttons aren't working.
I DID accidentally rip the mic cable though, I'm curious if that inhibits the whole controller though, everything else is intact. Amazing the last time I took it apart and soldered ports for triggers didn't brake it, but me not disconnecting anything and changing the stick out breaks everything but the sticks lol
My x butten won’t work and i have an software update on the controller it tells me notify me after 24 hours or update now please tell me what to do

Guys i assembled my controller back but now my touchpad isn't working... I think it has to do with the blue thing that connects to the green board but im not sure what is the problem... Any suggestions?
What should I use to clean it? Rubbing alcohol? Isopropyl alcohol? 70%? 80%? 90%? 99%? Or electronic contact cleaner?

Please can somebody help me, my R2 button on my ps5 controller is not working properly, every other button is working fine but my R2 is clicking down and I can’t stop it, the actual trigger itself isn’t clicking down and there is no broken springs, it just seems to be clicking down even though it doesn’t seem to look like the r2 is stuck, if I push really hard on the back of the controller it will fix. I didn’t throw my controller so idk what happened?
My buttons don’t work until I hold down the touchpad and really confuses me if there’s any fixes I’d love to know

I bought an extreme rate paddle kit and now, my face buttons stopped registering, every other button works but i can't even go into the main menu
So for those who did all for this and didn’t make it there is a rare percent that if you have TH-cam in your ps5 you can every button without any problem so it worked with me
I suggest the first u should do is the needle one it’s really easy takes less than 10 seconds and is probably the most effective solution
