Bizarre PS5 Quality Control issue. 5 day old DualSense broken?

- My friend's PS5 DualSense controller was less than a week old when the X button stopped working. I was surprised to discover the problem was not a result of button mashing, but a bizarre quality control issue.
This controller was purchased from EB Games in Brisbane, Australia. One PS5 and an additional controller was purchased. My friend can't remember which of the controllers this was.

My controller's triangle key started sticking after 4 days of use, I think Sony has done a very bad quality checks for PS5 controllers. My ps4 controller works fine even now.
I think you're right. Probably because they are so behind in production, with no stock in most stores even 18mths after launch.
My X botton is already getting sticky. It took a few months, not days, but my original PS3 controller, let alone my PS4, are still perfect. It hasn't gotten heavy use until the last few weesk though. I dread this teardown, but I might have to try it. I hope Sony is addressing this.
I am having problems with down on my D-pad which sucks because it's got heavy use in God Of War: Ragnorök (Won't spoil why, it's a really cool reason that it is used tho). Also I use it a lot in Overwatch because it's the button you use to say stuff, Emote and all that.
The worst part is that I literally cannot progress in God of War because of it being broken. I only dropped the controller like 6-7 times too. Playstation really need to make the controllers better or like 10x cheaper. You'd think the thing you use to play the games would be less expensive than the games themselves....
My theory:
Controller had analog stick drift/wandering and it was disassembled to attempt fixing/cleaning. Controller was not reassembled properly, and voila

At 2:59 I broke one of those things when I was trying to remove it. Is there any way to fix them
The ribbon cable? Or the socket it plugs into?
Depends on how it's broken as to whether it can be fixed or not. Not sure if replacement parts are available for it, but any ribbon cable with the same # pins, and same pitch should work.
You can order all types of ribbon cables from AliExpress or eBay, you just need to cut them to the correct length.

It can't be the exact same problem, cause the PS4 controller doesn't have a screw in that spot, as there's no dual sense trigger module. But I do have a PS4 disassembly and repair video here: th-cam.com/video/kBPUkUMNsS0/w-d-xo.html
My x button sticks regularly and it pisses me off!!! Lol....I've tried canned air,alcohol on qtips, resetting it. Really don't want to open it but looks like I'm going to have to. I've only had it maybe 2 months and play 2-3 times a week.

Thats just sad, i got one recently, every face button has a different tactile feel. X is diff than O and they sound different to.. its kind of inferior to all my ds4 i have

My circle button stopped working after 1 month, currently sony service centre has taken it and saying they will replace it with new one, i have ps4 from 5 years and still its stock controller is working fine. Currently playing ps4 games on ps5 with ps4 controller till i get the replaced controller.

I don't believe the screw was ever screwed in properly, it was always sticking out just waiting for a button to get stuck on it.

Even the PS button. Ok, SOMETIMES the facebuttons and Dpad work but it was very sudden. Took it off the charger and it just wasnt working.

Can you make a video on how to fix the swipe gesture for the touchpad on the dual sense? When I press down it works but whenever I use the swipe feature it won't work.
My brand new controller with the system started sticking within only a few hours. Bought a second one from a retail store... same thing. I def think its a quality control issue. I wonder: has anyone tried to use a silicone based lubricant on the buttons, if so, how did that work out?
The one that comes with ps5 is good qual but mine is sticky :/
@@noahmaghnouj7049 I wouldn't add any lubricant, it'll just catch more dirt an worsen the problem
I followed the tutorial and successfuly unsticked the controller
Need to do one on why some units sticks feel gritty when you move them, especially on slight movements

The QC with these PS5 systems is horrendous. My PS5 arrived DOA it wouldn't power on out of the box they sent me a replacement system and the controller from the second one had some really bad stick drift and then that console started crashing like a mofo every 20 minutes so now I'm waiting on them to send me a 3rd one..
Hey i am new here i subscribed when i was watching your frost white PS5 video . Amazing by the way 👍💪 . Now i do have a weird problem . I am a gta online player in ps5 . So basically , sometimes I cannot switch weapons in game . Look like the touch pad it's press on . But when a turn off the controller and back on everything it's back to normal ! . My question is , is it software or malfunction of the controller it self . ? 🤔

I’m not getting that problem buddy,,my pad is 2 days old and when I play gta,it works one minute then it doesn’t,,it won’t let me go through the guns on the wheel so I turn the pad off then back on and it works for a bit,,any ideas what’s needed buddy

It already came broken without any quality
befoure this i need to try to put sanitaiser on you finger and lett to go in a bit , a push few time nice and slowly, for me works, and in less then 1min i fix it, but thanks for the video , good to know !

Fuck that, all this work because Sony can’t get their shit together, stuff started falling apart about 10 minutes after I took my controller apart so I threw it away 😁, love spending 100$ every time these cheap ass hunks of plastic breaks
My L1 and R1 button feels wobbly
I did everything exactly as in your video, but there was nothing wrong with the screw or anything else. And i’m still having the same issue, its not completely stuck tho only for short moments then it pops back up. But don’t know how else i could fix this little yet annoying problem 😕

Maybe you need to blow out the dusty or there’s possibly something sticky on the Analog
@@redscorpion9325 yeah i checked it again and there was some dirt inside on the side of the button, cleaned it and now it seems the problem has been solved 👍🏻🤗

3:40 - that gamepad costs around 70$ and yet Sony has decided that a flex instead of a standard pcb would be fine...
They're only paying around $20 to manufacture, use the cheapest components possible.
I have 2 ps5 controllers that the ps button and the right buttons don't work... is it a coincidence that both do the same thing? I debug in my computer and confirmed ps button, square triangle x and o don't respond.
That is odd. When you day "right buttons" don't work, do you mean R1 & R2?
It could be a software issue, seems unlikely that there's a hardware fault with the same buttons. The power button is on the main button contact flex cable, but the trigger buttons are on separate trigger modules with the adaptive trigger motors. So it's either a software issue or a main board issue. Have you taken them apart before?
I have a controller where the PS button is not working on either console or PC debugging. :/ brand new.

Not sure, could be broken, jammed, dislodged, could be a screw. You won't know until you open it up.

Honestly what it cost to ship these things two ways you're better off sending it directly to Sony. But even then honestly you can find these things all day long at pawn shops for $200 or less and it would probably cost more than that for you to ship it to China and then wait for them to ship it back plus the parts and the fees they charge for repairs cuz I guarantee your console is more than a year old it's definitely out of warranty better off just buying a new (used) one. My PS4 Pro I bought from a pawn shop for $250 it came with two controllers and 23 (mostly cod) games as a bundle.

@@RestoreTechnique Yeah i was raised in Maffra if you know where that is. I had to send a PS3 off for warranty about a year after it's release date thing cost me over $350 AUD just to find out the HDD had went bad.

99.9% of PS5 owners won't be skilled enough to do this...and will instead have to suffer through contacting Sony's lame customer service...or just cry and buy a new one.
My first Controller has this problem,some days it works perfectly and other times its acting up so the 2nd Controller I bought,I put a 2 Warranty on it for $20 that way I can exchange for a new one hopefully they let me put a Warranty on the replacement as well if it happens again that way I can get getting new controller,it sucks that Nintendo and PS5 has the same issues but I herd its the same Company that makes controller for all Consoles

@@kingnathannn207 Same deal with the XBOX controllers. They also crap out fast. One button on my barely used XBOX ONE controller had to be tapped several times to register...making a game like ORI impossible to play. 😡

i somehow got grape jelly stuck in the button hole and had to tear it down to clean it. Definitely not the easiest controller to disassemble.

It's not built that way, there are screws inside holding down the front
