I’m only annoyed by it when they treat their opinions as if they’re objective fact (which happens more often than you’d think). When they’re sharing their opinion and recognizing that it’s just an opinion, I actually like sitting down and getting to hear about someone else’s media tastes. It feels a lot more “human” than most other videos on this site, if you know what I mean.
@@GinaDriedUp You're right, that can be enjoyable and it can be interesting to get a different angle on something you like or don't like. And I don't need people to be super humble either but when it's like "I've consumed media all my life so I'm an expert, here's what's objectively wrong ((this just my opinion, leave me alone!!))", that's when it's just awful

Hey! Just discovered you. I like this format and you're really good at it, especially the writing. One constructive, very technical note: avoid looking at or in the direction of the camera (unless it's obviously intentional). Aside from that, I really think you have something here! Good stuff!
Thank you so much! And yeah haha it bugs me so much looking back at these and notice that I kept looking at the camera. It's a bad habit. I've only been making YT videos for like 3 weeks now so I am still learning. I really appreciate the constructive feedback. Cheers!
For real though, the word 'content creator' sounds like it was thought up in some corporate meeting room; these videos don't have to meaning, they are simply content to be consumed by 'comsumers'.

I love the VHS tape sound effects and analog video effects this video essayist uses in his craft, it's so original and deep

Video essays should be prohibited by law
Unrelated; Lindsay Ellis put out a video about Yoko Ono...with a detour about Amber Heard.
Gonna tell my kids I've been here before 200 subs

Funny but i do think there is an art to video essays, that 6 hour long star wars george lucas one was pretty good.
