In Case you don't have 17 Minutes:
The speaker reflects on a day of feeling extremely unmotivated, where they spent hours mindlessly consuming entertainment (video games, TH-cam, etc.) but eventually gave up trying to be productive and felt tired of their distractions.
They decided to take a break by doing nothing for a few minutes, which surprisingly led to a shift in their mindset, and they began feeling motivated to tackle tasks they had been procrastinating on, like work, fitness, and personal goals.
The speaker realized that constantly engaging in high-dopamine activities (games, videos, etc.) raised their dopamine baseline, making meaningful tasks seem unappealing, and doing nothing helped lower dopamine levels, reigniting interest in productive tasks.
They observed that starting their day without distractions and immediately focusing on work led to more productive, fulfilling days and greater motivation to pursue personal goals, like going to the gym or eating healthier.
The speaker emphasizes that most people struggle with motivation not because tasks are inherently difficult but because they live in a constant state of dopamine stimulation, making it hard to shift focus to lower-dopamine activities like work or personal growth.

Going through heartbreak, and i see no light in life anymore... she left for only selfish reasons. So it should be easy, to discard her mentally... but all i want is her presence and love. I just want a hug, not from anyone... but her. But she stopped caring about me, while i still see my whole world in her. She used me, for 6 years... for safety, and left when she didn't need it anymore.

Find yourself again in solitude spend time alone doing hard things to build your confidence back and you'll find a partner that appreciates you for who you really are. Bro, I have been there, 8 years and proposal. Same thing, sacrificed my life, worked for both so she finishes college etc.. If you need to talk hit me up. However, this happened 2 years ago, I was deep down, really down in the deep end, having no one to talk to, totally alone and isolated. I can tell you cliches "it gets better", but it won't. It will get easier to cope. But, saying that, there is another cliche that is actually true - time heals. You will need time, probably a lot to get over it or to wake up one day not thinking about her, that day will happen eventually. That doesn't mean you won't remember her ever but you will start having days where you don't think about her. But it will come by itself you cannot force it. Now, cry and do whatever you think will help you (don't do stupid things). Anyways, if you don't have anyone to talk to please answer this comment and we will exchange whatsapp, telegram or email. We don't even have to exchange names, I will listen.

Been struggling with distractions most of my life and constantly find myself looking for that "next great entertaining thing, just one more" and even recognizing that as it happens, but still find it hard to do the switch. Even going to sleep on time is hard to do when the dopamine addict is seeking one more hit and then the sleep deprivation sets the tone for the next day.

That’s exactly the danger of distracting yourself: you have a void in your life in terms of having no relationship, no passion in your work or school, or no close friends and you start to fill that emptiness with distractions. The danger is that by distracting yourself, you will never actually do the things to upgrade your life. I can 100% relate to this though. Watching another TH-cam video, or even worse watching porn, is SO much easier than dealing with that anxious feeling when you just confront yourself with your current situation. But hey it’s just a matter of accepting those uncomfortable feelings and work with them. Good luck bro.

And I 100% agree that those days where I happen to start the day off with something productive feel better. Days where I wake up and force myself to go to classes end up being the days where I get the most done despite being out a lot of the day. Days where I think "eh the class notes are online I don't have to go today" and then I end up doing nothing all day. It's a night and day difference and it always has to do with what I start my day off doing, what the default for that day is.

Great video. I can really relate, I've been wasting lots of time for years on video games, porn and TH-cam. These are my big 3, like yours were. It's incredibly easy to just alternate between those and Reddit. Often, 80% of my day feels like I'm just cycling around them. I've known for a long time it's an issue, but it's so easy to default to.
I am so fed up with this. Often in bed at night, I think about how I'm wasting my life. But then the morning comes, and I just automatically enter the 'matrix' again and plug into in and the day goes so fast. This is so hard to actually put my mind to and fix. I am very apathetic, which doesn't help. But my suffering is getting at breaking point, and I hope that will end up being a good thing. The fun stuff isn't that fun any more, I feel like shit living like this.

My bosses always told me to “Learn when to walk away. Just come back when you’re ready.”

@@AlphaBeta-vq6ks you’re not wrong. But as a business owner, I’d agree. You’d want someone for the long haul. Training gets expensive.
Walking away enables prioritization. And one’s mental/physical health is top priority.

I spend a lot of time in Churches, when they are in service and when they aren't. The singing, the art and the words are calming.
