I recently played with the settings on my ts3 3 wood and was amazed at the difference even just a little change made going from A1 to C3. Just adding a little more loft and a little draw bias made the club much easier to hit getting the ball in the air and got the ball flight straightened out. It went from my 200 yard club to a 240 yard club

Over 15 years ago in early years of moving weights on drivers it was clear anyone with strong grip pressure took all the advantage (if any) out of moving the weights.....I have found that true with adjustable hosels also. Not enough is said about the effect on grip pressure when it comes to how the club head will or will not help with ball flight....strong grip pressure is better for the fader of the ball soft grip is better for draw player.

I LOVE YOU!!! I am your 60 year old woman golfer in Colorado who changed EVERYTHING FOR THE BETTER after watching your awesome video on how to properly hold the club (I was holding it right down the middle of my palm) and proper thumb placement (not stretching the hell out of my thumb down the shaft). I'm headed to the driving range and you always motivate me!!! I have an older (8 year old) Callaway Great Big Bertha women's driver with the Bassara shaft) that I can't get rid of. I LOVE this driver. I hit her as well or better than the newer drivers and that tells me she is a great driver for me. She has adjustments for fade/draw and I have her adjusted for my still on the fairway draw. I'm like you in that I like to see my ball fairly in the middle of the fairway unless I'm on a dog leg.
Would you please do a review on the best cost effective home (for my husband's man cave) practice set up like what you use in your basement/golf room?
Love from your biggest 60 year old golf friend!!!

Well that was interesting. I’m 63 with an 87mph swing speed. After warming up a hit a few balls with driver, Mavrik Max 9 set +1 degree loft and draw, saw carry and total distances right were I expected them to be. The surprise was the 19* launch and 3600 rpm spin. Did some experimenting with settings and ended up with the std 9* and draw. I normally play a Pro V1 but have been experimenting with the new Wilson Triad, the Triad launched lower with less spin off the driver so I guess it’s my new ball. would have expected a 9* driver to be too low for my swing speed but i am now launching at 16* with 2500 spin, added distance too! My cobra 3 wood was set at 15.5* draw, changing to 16* no draw added 10 yards carry. I’m a believer haha. Oh, and I don’t carry my irons as far as I thought I did.

It helps to have access to a decent launch monitor or home simulator to test and trial the settings on your driver (and fiarway / hybrids). The rest of us have to trust our fitters but as we know your swing can vary and the settings need dynamic changing through the season. It pays to have a friend with such a facility to use 'death by data' to analyse your swing dynamic with each setting.

FYI, I’m 99% sure the garmin doesn’t give accurate spin rates. Any launch monitor using radar can’t calculate spin very well. Especially so when hit into a net, the radar needs to track a full flight to give the most accurate data. I use a garmin and love it, but it has limitations.

I just bought the Cobra LTDx LS after a 1.5hr fitting session yet I “felt” more confident standing over the Rogue and a year earlier it was the Epic. Of course, the Cobra arrived and I am bombing it nicely so I will survive.

I have been watching another TH-cam Golf Influencer, James Robinson. He recently & humbly videotaped a lesson he took from Pete Cowen, (th-cam.com/video/ccQnNSrbarU/w-d-xo.html). The feedback he got and how he responded to Cowen's specific instructions as well as anecdotes to the general golfing public was very informative.I would be curious to hear your views. The one takeaway I had was Cowen's observation on Robinson's grip and how he took his hands aways from the ball. Instead of moving his hands in a complimentary or similar manner, he told him to take them away in an opposing manner. Also, told him to feel his shoulder movement. Fascinating!

  • @touristguy87
    @touristguy87 2 ปีที่แล้ว

hey, Mr. Short-Bus, it definitely does.
Thanks for the clickbait, I knew it was time to shut YT down for the night
try something simple that even you can understand.
Make a jig that holes the club by the shaft at an angle to the perpendicular.
Put some marks on it so that you can align the club repeatedly in the jig.
Change the clubhead settings and take pictures from directly above, directly to the sides and front and back.
Have fun doing that until you figure-out the answer to your question.
All I have to do is hold the club at address as usual and I can see the difference easily.
That also changes the weighting, club-balance and feel at impact.
I have played my 915D3 at D1 for 6 months now with extremely rare experimentation at C1 and A1.
Even with a stiff, low-torque shaft, that's too open for my tastes. I've yet to try.
At A1 I feel like the club just rattles around too much at impact.
It definitely can work, I definitely have gotten some very long and straight drives at A1, but it just doesn't feel as good and I don't have the same confidence in the outcome.
I hit the clubs reliably at D1. Slightly shorter but hits that are more square on the face and it feels much better.
    Lesson learned.
The charts say that the hosel settings change lie, face and loft angles, but what they don't talk about is the change in COG relative to the swing-path.
Opening the face moves the COG clockwise around the shaft by the same angle, increasing the loft moves the COG down & toward the shaft, likewise.
The net effect is to move the COG in 3 dimensions. It simply is not going to hit or feel the same.
I recently bought a used 11.5deg TSi2 and tried both D1 and A1 with it. Sim says that A1 is longer, at least on the stock normal shaft. I put it on one of my stiff shafts and set it to both D1 and A1 and tried it at a range, D1 was ok but in A1 but my swing rapidly deteriorated as both contact and feel went to shit, it felt like the clubhead was oscillating on the shaft. I figured that the shaft was too stiff one way or another and with the open face it was difficult to get a square hit on the face. I put it back on the stock normal shaft at D1 and went out and hit bombs with it on a Slope 145 course the next day. It just does not have an "off" button. The damm thing sounds like a cheap tin can compared to my 915D3s and it hits the ball very high but it also hits very long and it's easy to get good head speed and shape shots. It's like the club helps you to swing it fast and hit good shots with it.
Incredibly confidence-inspiring. I've only played it in a real round one time but so far I'm loving it.
It's not like I hate my 913D3 heads, they are good but I don't know if they are in the same class as the TSi2.
Too early to tell much more than they are rifles compared to a howitzer.
But do the shaft settings matter? You're durn tootin! I think they would matter a little less with the TSi3, because you could adjust the annular weight to compensate for the COG movement in the horizontal plane that results from changing the hosel settings. With the TSi4 it would matter a little less than with the TSi1 & 2 because the change in COG location would be smaller.
These small changes do make a big difference and of course they should, when you think about these clubheads moving at 100mph hitting a stationary 1.6oz golf-ball. You've got 3 torques acting on the shaft to open the face, one from the clubhead acceleration, another from clubhead drag and a third from hitting that ball. You honestly think that pivoting the head around on the shaft won't make a difference? Seriously? Do you know what the arc distance is of 1 degree at a radius of 1 mile? It's approximately 1/60th of a mile. So at 3" you're moving the COG around by 3/60th of an inch for every 1deg change in the hosel setting. Now multiply that by 100 mph times the clubhead and ball mass and you get the static torque at impact (the momentum neglecting aerodynamic drag or club+shaft movement). The change in static torque is about 1/20th of that. Let's say that we divide your weight by 2000 and hit you with a club at 100mph, you think that it would matter if we changed the hosel settings? Or no?

Look at the snazzy new TH-cam logo and subscribe button on the home studio wall. Looking sharp. I love how you seem to really enjoy yourself in these videos. Good stuff. I’m overdue for a new driver and have never owned an adjustable driver (that’s how old mine is lol). Maybe the newly re-released M4…

You should try a look at The Claw Driver by The Natural Golf Company in the UK . No closed club face whatsoever . Just very upright . E4 swing weight . Solid shot every time . If you open the club face on impact it just goes higher . Closed , it just goes lower !!

  • @stevenc9207
    @stevenc9207 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

You shouldn't have jumped off b1 so fast. You hit that shot in the lower part of the face, that's what made it spin like that. No way that slight adjustment made a 1500 rpm difference! You need to realize, impact location on the face has a MUCH higher impact on those numbers. You should be doing this with face impact tape or foot powder spray so you can be sure the numbers don't change because of a strike location change.

Great video, if your swing is consistent enough then the hosel adjustments can be great however strike is king and that can override any setting. I believe I read that for every 1 degree you loft up it closes the face 2 degrees and for every 1 degree down it opens it 2 degrees however if you don’t sole the club you can also override that as well by manipulating your grip. Always comes back to you and your swing lol 🏌🏻‍♂️

If we were having this conversation 50 years ago - wouldn't we just be talking about grip/clubface angle and ball position for loft? Take your same shitty swing and adjust the club or just improve your swing?

You can keep adjusting your club setting, OR, you can keep it in its natural position and learn how to hit different shots. Tee it low to hit it low. Tee it high to hit it high. Etc....i personally dont like adjusting the driver bc if you have a swing flaw, you are just reinforcing your swing flaw

Still hitting a 15 year old driver . Most of the time , shooting par or alittle better , or a few over . What are you going to hit a driver ...?? 10 to 12 times at most ...but yet if you two putt every hole , that's 36 strokes ...your putter is the most important club !

I know when you make your videos you probably don't have a lot of time! But a lot of other videos I watched on driver settings they would use five balls on all the settings and all the way up to 10 balls sometimes on some of them to get a true average! That would have been nice if you would have done that! It would have been more detailed information! Just my thought! 🤔

Golfers should know that one click is sufficient. Two clicks or more is not good as it applies more pressure to the screw system that it is not optimally designed for. It brings the failure point sooner rather than later.

I have a TS2 7 Wood and 27 hybrid. I am impressed with the Titleist hosel system in comparison to my Cobra woods. Luckily like most RH players leaving the ball out right is my miss, so a neutral and draw setting suits me fine, but what about those players who over draw their hybrids?

So honestly I didn’t watch the video sorry, but I just wanted to add my two cents. So I made two changes to my driver and saw a noticeable difference in my accuracy and maybe even a little added distance. First I went from a 70 gram stiff flex Aldila rouge silver to a 60 gram X flex Aldilal rogue silver shaft. Then I bumped my loft up one click which of course closes the face slightly. 2017 Taylormade M2. So moral to the story is, if you have a consistent swing adjustments can make a difference.

  • @MrChip8970

and you hit it almost 1 degree down instead of 1 or 2 degrees up? sure its going to give bad numbers try hitting it with higher loft and try to actually hit up on the ball

So based on the HUGE standard deviation in spin on "good" strikes... and based on the TS3's habit of the face flattening and/or caving.... I would check the driver face. I flattened and caved about 4 TS3s and a TS4.
