It has a huge step-up in graphical performance. See more laptops: • Laptops and subscribe! lon.tv/s

I just got back from Best Buy looking at this laptop and I have to say that this was the best track pad out of all the laptops I tried
Great review 👍
This seems to be the best 2-in-1 laptop overall at that price so far
Thank you for this very helpful review. You are not the first reviewer to reference the palm rejection weaknesses of the tack pad but as of today in late March we still don’t seem to have a solution from HP as these issues still continue. I am holding off from buying for now u til I know they have fixed this as it is key to my own use profi,e of such a laptop, but I agree with you that this is otherwise a very solid offer.
I'm buying it. Plan to use a wireless bluetooth mouse. Problem solved.
so far one of the best review, as you cover the PEN show us if Palm rejection works, a bit of video editing, and my favorite game RDR2, these are the things we want to know, but not just some benchmark.
One tips, since the screen is at 2880x1800, ideally, you could also game in 1440x900, and enable Integer Scaling, and this will further boost the gaming performance!
That's below 1080p
Got the 16" version recently. Very nice. Battery life could be better. Not as good as my old Spectre.
Can you post some pros and cons of this laptop. I am a developer and am thinking of shifting from Macbook Pro16 Intel 2019 model to this one for WSL2 and design and note taking.
Many many congratulations. Yes 16" has better battery life.
@@HDRPC Not as good as my vintage 2017 Spectre.
@@tcalbrecht i don't know what is the issue.
Update your Bios and do Windows updates. Use it in balanced mode. It has some optimization issue as of now. Update everything.
Use it in iGPU mode only. Turn off Nvidia GPU completely.
Can you do cinebench 2024 multicore and share here so that i can check it that has issue or not.
@@nikhilpandey3985 you can go for it very easily. 14" is more comfortable.
I have a 13" Spectre x360 from 2017 with a 7th gen i7. Still runs great.
This is the kind of comments I like to read before buying new equipment
Mine is unfortunately dead. Going get the new Core ultra 7 edition, it seems promising!
@@luxmeister ordered it yesterday, should arrive friday. Can't wait!
@@fabiopalma4429 So, how is the laptop so far?
Thanks for the review. Would you happen to know how's this laptop compared to the Asus Zenbook 14 2024? Between both, if you had to buy one, which one you would go for?
Is spectre 14inch ulra7 good for Adobe suite. I mainly work on Photoshop, Illustrator, XD....i am planning to buy this. Could you please tell shall i go with Specter or another laptop. Please suggest to me if there are any better choices.
After the woeful iGPU of the last three years, it is a relief that Intel has finally caught up with AMD and Apple. There is so much praise for ARC Graphics, as this is overdue and not a revolution, simply coming from a very low level.
The same applies for efficiency. Intel has trailed Apple and AMD for many years, and I am glad they have closed the gap, but the congratulatory overtones may be a bit much!
Obviously Intel took the opportunity to put prices up, or maybe OEMs hoping to benefit from contemporary comparable performance. I am not a gamer, so if I could get the last gen with a big discount I would choose that.
Does anyone know what type of RAM memory this laptop comes with? I just ordered one from HP and selected the 32Gb option, but it doesn't say the specs of the ram, I'm guessing it is DDR5, but I'm not sure, and what speed in Mhz?
Hopefully it will get a bigger sale in 2-3 months time, at this point retailer prices from hp are just a joke, 1 month on the market in already have a 20% drop in price 😅
Do the review of hp spectre 16
Holy cow that's insanely thin
Hand moisturizer!
Colossus from the Forbin Project will be very happy to see us getting more and more AI hardware directly into our computers.
The laptop looks good, but the price is way too high for my taste for the graphics performance which might be much better than before, but still remains pretty much an iGPU.
I can't find the same model here (Greece), but the equivalent 15 and 16 inch models are well over 2000 euros. Depending on the exactly model you can get a laptop, from HP mind you, with a RTX 4060...for half the price.
The other thing is, while I have no beef with HP, always had good experience with their laptops, how can I trust Intel for their driver support for games? I can't.
Lastly, FFS HP, bring back the gold!
Thanks for the video!
You get a thumbs up for the Colossus reference. Loved the movie, and the books are a guilty pleasure.
@@ToumalRakesh Glad more people know this.
Ram speed on black model is 6400 or 7467. As per hp official website black one has 6400 and the blue colr model has 7467. Just wanted to confirm.
This one is 7467
@@LonSeidman thanks for the info👍
Can someone please suggest which colour looks better for spectre - blue or black?
The blue is blackish-blue anyway, so go for the blue. And I'm sure it gives less fingerprints
I'm confused, I heard some youtubers praising the trackpad for being macbook like!
The trackpad itself feels very nice and smooth but he's referring to the poor palm rejection when typing
The Spectre x360 16” in blue looks amazing. They don’t offer it in AMD, but I would love that. I dont need the Nvidia gpu for Linux.
This is better than AMD
Nvidia works just fine on Linux.
Nowadays it starts at 1.100usd
Disabling tap to click might help.
That was the first thing I did.. They need to tweak the trackpad a bit more.
Bit disappointed it doesnt work with linux.
First thing i do nowadays is to load up linux as Im moving away from the windows as a service
Perhaps The Linux Kernel has not been updated yet to include the new 14th gen intel processors and more.
@@edalder2000 im not sure, but I dont really think so. Its built for x86 or amd64. Unless its a completely different architecture. Its possible that its the boot process, probably uefi.
I think it's more an issue of booting the OS off the USB - HP is pretty tough about locking down their BIOS, etc. for security. I'm sure this will get resolved in a future bios update.
HP Laptops are known to have issues when trying to install Linux. It's why I stay away from them.
Very pricey compared to others though 🤔
Which others with this chip and features? 🤔
@@mavfan1 Lenovo yoga 7i
Intel tax babeyy
Agree, it is pricey but checks all the boxes for me
I don't think it's expensive, for what you get, and compared to similar laptops on par
literally nobody with 1080p screen wants to watch TH-cam video in 1080p when 1440p or 4k is available because of the terrible TH-cam compression, and I can't understand why you wouldn't test the higher resolutions, especially that one may want to connect it to an external display with a higher res...
Nice cpu, but HP is a no go for me.
Why?
@@morten1 Just overall very bad experiences from the brand. Laptops have odd design choices (BIOS etc.), displays at work have failed fast and they've virtually all been HP products. Their printers suck big time imo, the worst of the worst products ever with flashy displays etc. but they just don't work. Also their recent corporate statements/decisions have just made me personally "ban" HP products until they really change their stuff. Oh and one thing that really pissed me off years ago was that their laptop BIOS update blacklisted 3rd party peripherals, which rendered one wifi card inoperable in one of my HP laptops. Now the most recent fuss is about their printers and them blocking 3rd party ink suppliers and saying they can infect viruses via their ink cartridges. It's just insanely bad PR. Really, check it out. It's downright hilatious stuff.
@@morten1 they have a history of being a terrible company.
