Thanks for showing us this. In my opinion, that RetroBat has really solved so many of the problems of retro-gaming. Especially the save setting feature, man, that is incredible.
Nice tip Lon if you see this. If you click on say decorations for example with A in your case it will give you a list with previews of all Bezel options so you don't have to guess the one you want to use also on save states you can press Y in your case on the main menu when the game is highlighted to choose a save state and jump right in without launching game and doing button combo. and if you notice it puts a little floppy disc icon next to games that have save states it is next to the game manual icon
@@lbenegas Batocera is a whole Linux operating system with basically the same kind of setup. If you don’t need windows, use Batocera. If you already run windows, use Retrobat.
@@rsorry it doesn't really. Retroarch is a frontend like retrobat. Retrobat uses Emulation Station as a backend which is also found in batocera and a few others. Retrobat is a lot simpler to navigate than retroarch and unlike retroarch, it isn't a memory hog either.
100% I was using Launchbox with RetroArch underneath (because the RetroArch interface is trash) and even with the LaunchBox UI being better than RetroArch, it was still AGONIZING to get my controller set up for everything. RetroBat not only looks way better and functions more smoothly, but it also automatically makes my Xinput controller work perfectly for everything…INCLUDING the menu interface! Unbeatable.
Very cool Lon. The easy install makes it more accessible to friends and family who I know are interested in retro gaming, but like most “normies” need as few hoops as possible to get going.
Great for portable builds. Have a 500gb build with 2400 games + vids. Currently using SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.1 (130 mbps) which works great. The newer (400 mbps) usb drives for some reason run the games incredibly slow??? Haven't figured that one out yet.
I kinda attempted to get into Retro gaming several years ago using older Dell systems. However that was the time when the game manufacturers decided to monetize their ROMs making it harder to find them to actually use...for free at least. Has anything changed with that?
Where did you have problems because their official help forums literally tell users to not mess with any configuration files and to simply make any of your changes within the program itself.
This looks great and what I'm looking for. Is there a way to set it so it loads retrobat automatically when I turn on the PC? I want to buy a small PC to put under my TV to play retro SNES and SEGA games with a controller and not a mouse or keyboard to have to start retrobat.
Installed great on an old windows machine I have but it doesn’t seem to recognize the directional buttons on my old Microsoft sidewinder controller. Guess I’ll have to upgrade.
Thanks for this video! I've been setting this up but no matter what controller I'm using it doesn't work right. When I scroll through the retrobat menu it acts as if I'm pressing the buttons multiple times and jumps around making it unusable. I've tried wired and Bluetooth controllers. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Good thing that mini pc is free, I have 3 of them , and 2 of the ssd drives failed in 14 months.SSDs were made by NETAC , and in Acemagican , w/intel N5105. Real junk.
so....if it can be installed to your USB drive then CAN it be installed to your NAS and then just played by any deice on your LAN? How about through a VPN?
@@LonSeidman Yup - I just installed it and it's working fine! Yes its all adjustable. Also i made a fresh folder called 'music' in the root of Retrobat. Any music i add to that folder will then play at random whilst browsing in Retrobat.

Bigbox is paid software, and launchbox lacks autoconfiguration of emulators, everytime you change controller you need to redo the emulator settings, real PITA
Oh my God! It's basically Batocera but for Windows! I was looking for something like this for a very long time! Thank you very much! ♥
I installed it a month ago using my little ITX build with a half height 4060 inside so I could play some XBOX 360 games. I love it.
Retrobat is awesome for sure!
Thanks for stopping by RGT! I enjoy your work!

Awesome I Always Love Your Videos.
Love this video. I've been using Retrobat for 2yrs now and due to its ease of use and extensive options list it has become my primary gaming front end

I have been using Retrobat for years. In my opinion it's the best all in one solution out there with the best fronted. Love it and highly recommend 👍
This seems to basically be a flavor of batocera for windows. Pretty cool
Hi, yes and no, even if the projects are similar and our 2 teams are quite close, they are 2 different projects.
Yay, awesome that you showed off Retrobat 😎👍 one of my GoTo’s for emulating
Wow. What gem. Seems like it solves the multitude of configuration issues
Ive been using since last year it is the best. Blows away Launchbox, Retroarch and the others
Sorry for my basic questions. I am exploring options… what about batocera? How do they compare?

That's really cool. You had me till it was Windows support only haha. Imagine this on the Switch!
I've been using RetroPie on a Linux mini PC. I may give this a shot.
Retro gaming content, hell yeah I love this stuff Lon!
ive actually had issues with PS2 emulation on "portable" installs so ill be interested in trying this to see how it compares to plain old pcsx2

That looks amazing!
Where i can download the rom?
Thank you. Great video!
Thanks Lon.

I've been using batocera, and this looks just like it except you can launch it in Windows instead of boot to it from startup.
Maybe you can do a Video on setting up the XBOX controller for the different systems including setting up turbo.
This is awesome. 👍

what size is your portable hard drive? What would be a good hard drive/ssd size for this installation?

I've heard from a few people having similar issues - I think you might need an x-input compatible controller.
Great tutorial!

Will this allow me to launch my pc games? Like steam etc?

I had the same issue, with a wireless Xbox controller. In my case closing the Steam app that was running in the background, solved the problem.
Show my age, last playing video games controllers were hard wired. Can I assume the controller connects to PC via Bluetooth? Thanks for video 73
Yes the Xbox controller demoed is connected via Bluetooth. You can use hardwired USB controllers too.

Retrobat work on windows, Batocera is a full OS distribution working with linux.
Windows Port of RetroPie?
Where is the link to the program😢
I wonder if this could be installed on a NAS
