Just went to 18x8.5s +42 on my static GTI, and jeeezus what a way to burn rubber while trying to drive aggressively 😳 Thanks for the super clear and detailed video, exactly what I need. And thanks for answering comments as well, answered literally all of my questions!
Nice job. As a collision repair tech, I want to fix them and make them flat again.... Very good advice to 'sneak up' on where you want the flare to be. Also, if your rear quarter panels have a hem flange (the metal of the quarter panel is folded back over its self) be careful to not separate it from the outer wheel house. There is seam sealer on that part and if it separates it will let water get inside. Which is no bueno.
hey thanks for the instructions. i dont have a Subaru but fenders are fenders and i appreciate your explaining the principals here. im rolling next week and dont want to hose it up.
I know this video is a couple years old but I also bought Yellow Speed Racing coilovers for my 2017 Nissan Versa. At 1st, they weren't even correct for my car, they were for the Note. Once they finally got me the correct coilovers, the springs are too soft for the rear and the last time I tried to contact them to order stiffer springs they never got back to me. I went with them bc they were one of the only companies that made coilovers for this car, they removed them from their website after my issues almost as soon as I had gotten the correct ones in.
. Glad to find this. So this is something that cannot be done to the front of the front wheel well on the bumper? Woulda been cool to have a cellphone shooting B-cam from in front, straight down the length of the car, lined up with the fender. Regular video or time lapse. Always interested in seeing the before/after from a set perspective, which I did miss a bit. Questions!... - How did you ensure your steering wheel was perfectly straight. Eyeballed it? On my Golf R, two of the drive wheels steer. - Can you roll a fender with less of an angle on that roller? To pull the fender out with a little less of a bell-shaped flare? Thanks 👍
Very good job 👍🏼 I have a 1999 E36 BMW third generation and I have 245/45/17 on my rear and 235/45/17 on my front with 20mm spacers on rear and 15mm spacers on the front now the front is okay no rubbing and the rear it rubs when I take corners and if have a passenger that over 180 pounds it’ll rub through out the whole ride , I been thinking of rolling my rear quarter panel but I’m scare it might chip the paint , it’s a 22 year old car but it’s been garage kept and the paint looks like it’s freshly painted original paint but looking at the job you did I feel more confident in doing the job myself. Thank you for putting this video up because it built confidence in me and remember I love and baby my antique BMW it’s a classic I have a E36 that was built just like the E36 M3 identical but just curious a 2.5 L engine in-line six but anyways thanks again and I will be following your videos God Bless you 👍🏼👌🏼🤟🏼🥇👑💰
Great tutorial !!! Give me alot of courage to do my own q50. only need to pull. Infiniti come with fender already rolled. Shop want to charge me 350$ just for the rear fender.
Going to do this on my Ford fiesta st 2015 have heavy heavy tire scrapping and gouging, I ordered a mishimoto fender roller for 94 bucks, I’ll probably have to roll and pull because I drive for DoorDash and wanna make sure there’s enough room to move up and down as much as possible
What a timely video as I've been looking into getting my poorly rolled and pulled fenders finished a bit more (Lexus IS300). I suspect mine were done too quickly and without the skill you showed in your own video, and so my hope is that I can improve the overall look and gain a small amount of clearance by doing it more properly. Thanks for the motivation and education my friend!
i mean if you have an LSD or a Live axle you have to jack the whole back up but if youre an open diff peasant like me you can one at a time it, diffs do be differentiating that torque doe
Great work mate, looks mint as! Bummer about the Yellow speeds but also stoked you have a standard, far to often and esp on youtube (some big channels) I see people lack patience and butcher there cars or compromise safety and performance and also value and respect to the car (pet hate JdM classics drilled or butchered) it was one of the aspects that stood out to me with the quality attention to detail on your STI build, you married budget with performance without sacrificing quality and took longer if required, rare qualities these days, and love to see you do a 90s JDM build one day🤙
The next build I want to do is a 99RS Or a 93 FD RX7 so whatever comes next will definitely be an older build. But when it comes to quality safety and performance I try to find the best Middle ground possible and if that means having to re purchase a part than so be it. Live and learn and hopefully my mistakes help people avoid them when it comes time for them to build their cars. Appreciate the kind words my friend!
Had yellowspeeds on my elantra sport hated them clunked over bumps and was told that it was normal by their warrenty department. Fortune auto was definitely the way to go
What did you do about the factory seal in the rear fenders after rolling them? Did you remove it? And would it be okay to leave it as is afterwards or apply paint to them?
Want to roll my rear fenders due to slight rubbing on my passenger rear side but the guy told me that the dings/dents I have on my fender will show EVEN more... What are ur thoughts on that
I have a question. I need to roll/pull the fenders on my 07 STI. Is it possible to do it in the back as it has the plastic lips that continue on the rear bumper? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Love the Channel BTW!
Nice Video ! -few questions ; how far should you have the heat gun from the fender? -at what point do you re-use the heat gun ; when your changing angles on the roller or when the paint is cool to the touch? Thanks
I’m trying to run 215/40 on 18x8.5 ET13 front and 225/40 et 25 on 18x9.5 on a 08’ 128i… 18” staggered m parallels. Don’t want to swap rear hubs. Any suggestions by you wheel fitment guys?
I’m going to roll my fenders for the first time. Curious though why not heat the edge that’s getting rolled? The goal is to heat the paint so it won’t crack right? I know you we’re going to pull but for those jus rolling, is heating JUST the lip a better idea? Since it’s the actual area getting forced to flex?
You can just heat up the lip, but because i was rolling and pulling lip of the fender I wanted to heat up more of the fender to be able to save more of the paint. But totally okay to just geat the lip
Surface rust on the coilovers? Just sitting on top of the paint? Or on the bare metal? Interested to see the comparison video. Cars coming along nicely.
They look soooo awesome. I honestly thought it was way harder than this. And man, I don't know a ton about coilover installs, but when you put them in, one corner's decent, one's slammed, ones ready for off roading, I just thought to myself, "if my dude wants the BRZ at the same quality as the STi, these ain't gonna do it." Did you order your Fortune Autos yet? I haven't had a ton of luck with parts availability lately. I tried to find a Getadom cyl. 4 mod for a couple days. Everyone is sold out. Grabbed a Torque Solution. Really wanted a Getadom, but it was like 10 bucks cheaper and has a lifetime warranty. Kinda stupid to be picky about a hose, a fitting and a T though...
Yes the fortune autos have been ordered just have to wait for them to be built and ship 🔥😁 and its much easier than people think it is. Wonder why they're all sold out 😖
@@Smeedia it was weird. But, I either way, a cylinder 4 mod is on the way. And I just ordered a Koyo radiator! So stoked to set it up! The WRX is gonna be running a lot cooler this summer! Ooooouuuu!
Good workmanship and great eyes 👀. I have just one question. How do you deal with the drooping of falling inner fender liner 🤔? You did kind of blow by that point. Inner fender liners do more or less seal against the fender preventing nasty 💩 like water, sand salt from attacking the backside of the fender and destroying it. A little late now but here’s a thought perhaps. Have you ever considered installing a plastic clip shaped like a question mark into the rolled lip? Installing one at 12 o’clock or two one at 10 and one at 2 and connecting through the liner with a standard plastic pop clip and voila; no droop. Rolled lip locks in clip. A MacGyver solution so to speak 😀.
I just tuck it into the new crease from the lip still sits in there, just have to keep an eye on it ever now and then 😅 not. Bad idea though, gling to play with it and see what I can come up with!
Right now going off by eye, I took initial measurements with the 255/40s in the front, but gling down to a 245/35 I don't need to do an extreme pull so just needed a small bump in the front 😁
what do you think the maximum reasonable pull you can do on fenders are? I've got a pretty aggressive wheel setup so i feel like im going to need a little bit more than 1-2mm for the setup im looking for
Saw my buddies Type RA fenders which were rolled, clearly whoever did them didn't use heat as the seam sealer is split... Pretty easy to find someone who doesn't know what they are doing trying to make a quick buck in this industry. 😕
Who wouldve thought, searching for someone to teach me how to roll fenders, and i found the guy im already subscribed to. Thank you Tanner!

Glad that it helped! My 05 STI is the same way, fenders wwre just eating the tires lol
Ya first time I went for it I was nervous but it’s so easy lol literally just add heat and go slow and it’s a cake walk good video!
Yasss, not as bad as people make it out to be 🔥😁
Just want to say thank you for the tips, just got my fenders roll and pulled today
Glaf the video was helpful 🥳🙏

It does, made sure to not separate any of the skins from one another, would not be a fun time having to get them back together 🙃 and thank you!

$350?! 😳 jealous of that Q50! Wanted one for a while 😍

You are really good. The BRZ Looks so good. New coil overs. Yes!

Literally in the middle of watching another one of your videos when this one drops. Guess I’ll go back and finish it after this one now 😅

Will that tool work on my 65 nova rear fenders that are not round ? Thanks
It should, you might just have to adjust it a bit more 🙏

I've been able to blend some before. But super hit or miss on how big the dents are and where they're at
Got some Work wheels for the STI. Had to add spacers.. then stacked out on fenders s&@t. Thanks for vid time to roll them.
Oooof, been there before if theyrr not too far out a good roll and pull should help 🔥

NT03 such a good looking wheel 🔥🔥🔥👌👌
Agreed, one of my favorites. 😍🔥
On the rear did you just pulled it without rolling them?
And also can i get the same look like the front for the back instead of the flare?
Yes you can, and I rolled the rears before pulling them 🤝
@@Smeedia ok thanks for the reply, but is it still necessary to roll the rear if I just want to pull just to match the front?
Yes 🙏
Crazy!!! What a small roll and pull does!!! Looking great so far man!

Thanks Tom! And super happy with thr out come 🔥😁

-few questions ; how far should you have the heat gun from the fender?
