I believe that the long rod with the castle nut on one end and the long bar with the red plastic balls on the other end is supposed to have a smooth washer between the castle nut and round piece that it tightens up to and in another video the gentleman suggested to put grease between the washer and round piece to cut down on friction. I'm thinking that is why you still had some play between the castle nut and round piece even after you tightened it. When I order one I'm going to grease every part that rubs on another part to reduce friction on everything before I use it.

I just got an "ATPEAM" roller from Amazon for $40 bucks and finally got it together. I was just using it on my car and noticed everytime I used the red knobbed adjustment handle to apply "pressure" to the fender lip, the backing nut on the adjustment rod would back off everytime. I came to watch this video just to verify I had my assembly correct, and I did... BUT @12:04 your roller has a castlenut and the adjustment rod has a machined hole to push that cotter-pin through...
Mine came with just a lock nut 🤦🏼♂️ No machine hole either, so I couldn't use a castlenut if I wanted to. I have it slathered in JB Weld right now and I'm going to try and make it work. If not, I'm shipping it back.
I'm all for saving money and being frugal, but sometimes buying namebrand like an Eastwood would save you all the headache.
I can't comment on the quality of roll it does because I can't even get it to stay together to roll my fenders due to this dumb design flaw 🤣
You could have just used locktite once you had it as tight as it should be

The nut unscrews itself, very annoying. Other than that it works hella good!
